Rust around fuel filler door
It is cobblers. Not specified anyplace & whoever came up with the tripe needs to show where they come up with this. Skoda have covered nothing, they are at it. Have you seen the Final Decisions of the Ombudsman in writing concerning other claims. There are those that have successfully made claims under the warranty on exactly the same corrosion issue in exactly the same location on the car.

Rust around fuel filler door
I now have a reason for the claim being rejected. It is corrosion caused by "edge and fold" not from the middle of a panel; if corrosion starts inside on a seam or edge it's tough. Sounds like cobblers to me and not specified in the warranty. I have also now discovered this has been the reason quoted to the motoring ombudsman which they have accepted and then rejected customer appeals. Seems Skoda have covered their backsides and have the ombudsman on their side.

Knocking noise/rattle from DCC - Sportline 2.0 Petrol
Skoda or whoever is telling this nonsense should know that there are vehicles out there that they failed to engineer into the 'Normal operational noise'. Where is this person based and are they an Automotive Engineer or a desk jokey?

Advice for buying a 2018 Karoq 2.0 TDI Edition DSG
Haldex is at 3 years / 30,000 miles. So i would be wanting it done know as well as the Brake Fluid change if not done in the past 2 years. As far as the DSG i would want that now and the Warranty covering it. Not left till 80,000 miles.

worth a shot. On mine it overboosted and randomly you just heard a very slight blow off sound. Almost like a blip of a siren in the distance then loss of power. Alasdair

Advice for buying a 2018 Karoq 2.0 TDI Edition DSG
From MOT history up until 2022 was doing roughly 10k miles per year, from 2022 yearly mileage is roughly 7k per year, suggesting either a change in circumstances or change of owner. Modern diesels don't like low annual mileages, and the last 4 years between 5k and 8k per year is low, whilst DPF may be OK the EGR valves are prone to clogging with short journeys or low annual mileages, a more likely issue is Ad Blue problems due to crystalisation on the sensors and injector due to low use. Haldex is every 3 years - its nearly due again. more importantly is what were the dates of the previous Haldex services, should have had one in 2021. DSG ask for the oil to be changed and the oil filter to be cleaned - Skoda say every 80k miles - independent specialists advise 40k. Engine oil and filter changes - ideally every 12 months or 10k miles which ever is sooner, consider carefully if the vehicle has been on the Flexible service scheme which extends the intervals to 20k miles or 2 years, so should have had 8 service may only have had 3 or possibly 4. Brake fluid and Coolant should have been changed at least twice if they haven't been done then ask for then to be done. Check the rear tyres for uneven tread wear or an odd wear pattern, assuming the tyres have not been replaced - at around 80K miles the the rear suspension lower arm bushes may have worn - not enough to be an MOT advisory but sufficient to cause uneven tread wear. Cambelt ask for it to be changed along with any other rubber belts (the oil pump is driven by a separate wet belt) , tensioner and water pump if applicable. If they don't want to do this then ask for a warranty to cover the cambelt for the next 50,000 miles. If you are familiar with DSG gearboxes then you will know what it should drive like. If you are not familiar have a really long test drive with lots of stop start traffic, leave the Stop/Start switched ON - even if you don't like it this can expose issues with the DSG. Check Hill Hold and Auto Hold work properly without and with throttle. It should creep smoothly on tickover even up a slight incline in first and reverse.

Advice on update 0334
Try a factory reset of the infotainment & it should prompt you to set up from scratch. It's a PITA though as you'll lose all your setting, including radio stations & stored destinations in the SatNav. As for the secret solution sent to a dealer, I went through this recently for a different issue & the "fix" didn't work. At least it was covered by warranty. I wouldn't entertain writing the blank cheque being suggested to you.

Knocking noise/rattle from DCC - Sportline 2.0 Petrol
Hi everyone! I’m new here, and following this thread with interest. My late-2024 1.5 MHEV (non-DCC) has the same hollow knocking noise. After numerous visits with various attempts to resolve the issue (including changing the top mounts and applying copious amounts of grease to the potential problem areas), the Skoda workshop replaced my steering rack. Like everyone here, the issue was only temporarily resolved, with the knocking sound returning after 2 weeks. Skoda is now saying that this is a ‘normal operational noise’. The Skoda dealership where I’m based (Singapore) is directly owned by the Volkswagen Group. I’d have expected much better technical competence and ability to rectify faults, but that is not the case at all!

Advice on update 0334
For some reason the infotainment system started asking for a pin number. I couldn’t remember it and after 3 attempts I got locked out. Now I get the message no primary user. After trying numerous times to become primary user and following numerous hints on the internet I am no further forward. Every time I start the car I get an email saying that Skoda Connect services are deactivated as the vehicle is in private mode. Even though It is actually set to share my position. I contacted Skoda and was told that they have an update to solve the problems if I book the car into the dealer and let them know who the dealer is they will send an update to that dealer to sort out the problem. I visited the dealer to ask how much this would cost and was told that they would charge an initial Diagnostic charge of £185 plus a charge per hour for doing the update. As they don’t know how long the update would take they couldn’t give me a final cost. I have complained that the cost is extortionate to correct a problem with poorly written software that 100s of people all over the world are complaining about. I am hoping that the OTA update 0334 might solve the problems but there are conflicting reports on whether you only get the update if the car has a primary user registered. I am currently running version 0332.Any advice please.

Skoda Felicia consuming 250 mA when it is turned off
Warrior193 replied to gagiuntoli's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanIf the ignition switch was fully switching off, I think it a little unlikely that an earth (mass) cable issue would be the cause. I suppose a welded-closed relay contact could be the cause if the ignition switch tests out as Ok - but I'd be testing that switch first.

Advice for buying a 2018 Karoq 2.0 TDI Edition DSG
We're downsizing from a 7 seater and are very interested in this: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202609176139141 Dealer says Haldex was done in 2024. DSG is due in the next 5,000-10,000 miles apparently. He says the cambelt hasn't been done and based on Skoda official guidance shouldn't be done until 120,000-130,000. This sounded fishy to me. Is that the case? It's 8 years old so should surely have had at least one cambelt change by now? Any experts that could recommend what I do would be hugely appreciated.

OTA updates or the impossibility thereof
I keep receiving notices that updates are available, but only when driving and usually within about half mile of home. However, the road is a busy one and there are no areas where you can pull off other than field gateways. When I get home and park the car with the ignition on or engine running, more or less opposite where the router is in the house, I don't get any notices! I can have these updates installed by a dealer, but the last time I did this it cost £145! Any advice to solve these problems would be appreciated.

Fabia 1.4tdi Nightmare issues!
Might be sticking turbo veins. I think they are variable on yours. On my Octavia no flashing coil light but would go into limp mode randomly especially if accelerating hard in 2nd - 4th gear and clear itself after restart. It wasnt a full limp mode just down about 30% on power. No codes stored. I first thought it was veins sticking but I manually operated wastegate first and discovered it was sticking slightly at a certain point. I lubricated and kept manually operating it till it was smooth again and no more limp modes. As there are no codes it might be worth a look at the actuator Alasdair

Knocking noise/rattle from DCC - Sportline 2.0 Petrol
Skoda UK told me to go to the Motor Ombudsman which is a different organisation I believe. I have no finance on my car so maybe different rules apply. They made no offer to pay for an engineer, in fact they made no offer to contribute for the dealer to exchange the shocks at warranty rates, the dealer had expected they would offer up half the cost. The engineers cost will be on me if I go ahead. Did you use a local one or someone part of a UK group?

Skoda Ireland have now stopped fitting new steering racks until a new part is available. We got 2 new fitted. Made noise after a few weeks each time. Pushed harder they gave us a letter saying basically to wait until new part comes along and they will fit it.

I went to Financial Services Ombudsman Skoda asked me to get an independent engineer at their expense so waiting on engineers report to back to ombudsman to try progress things
-
Knocking noise/rattle from DCC - Sportline 2.0 Petrol
Sorry to hear that. Skoda seem to like their "characteristics", it seems to be a convenient cop out for their design flaws. Their suggestion to me was to go to the Motor Ombudsman which would require an independent engineers report. Was that easy to arrange and was it expensive? Maybe we could approach the Ombudsman as a group. I have written to one of the journalists at What Car to ask if they have had reports from others and whether any of their reviewers have found similar.
