  2. Thank you. This is really good information. I noticed that the one sticker in mine has a made in Poland on it. Thanks again.
  3. The issue was Jaguars and EV jaguars particularly. Poor reliability. Then it is JLR. Jaguar Land Rover, the Land Rover parts unreliability and that is Range Rovers and still on the New Defenders. This new creation had better be well sorted because what a beast for any recoveries. At least there will not be much luggage to empty out.
  4. @ So I got a replacement from ebay for about £350 plus import fee of £80. It was from Poland. If you do this make sure you one with all the attachment points intact. Many are from crashes and so have broken bits. And get one from a recent year, avoid anything from 2022 or 2023 just incase it hase the same defect. I tried fitting myself but chickened out so I got a local garage to fit it for £130. In total, it was a lot but much less than the original quote from Skoda.
  5. Thanks Zanpy01, It does seem crazy that it costs customers so much. Did you go to skoda for the replacement, an independent or do it yourself? I will try and have a go with contacting skoda, but I am preparing myself for the worst.
  6. That Jag at least had some elegance to it, even if it was derided at the time. The Type 01 has none as far as I can see. As for Jags not selling that probably has more to do with pricing, specs, reliability and comparisons against contemporary opposition marques, as opposed to design?
  7. So I had to get a complete replacement of the unit. Definitely a bad batch but when I called skoda multiple times they said that as it was outside of warranty there was nothing they could do and there were too few incidents to consider a recall. They really weren't helpful. As a diagnostic test I got someone to check if this was a wiring/ecu issue, but that was all fine and the Turing signal came thru fine. It was the LED strip in the unit that had failed.

  10. Thank you @Breezy_Pete . A lot of aftermarket versions and even some remanufactured OE ones list both 6Q0500051BB and 6Q0500051AT as compatible numbers, whereas Diederichs only lists 6Q0500051AT. So I guess, as suggested above, I’ll just ignore the two extra mounting holes and use a zip tie to secure the brake line. That way my son willl also have the option of upgrading to disc brakes in the future if he ever feels like it. I'l post some pictures of what it looks like in the real life.
  11. Hi Paco, I have just got the same problem with by 2022 facelift. How did you get on? Was it a full replacement of the headlight unit? I bought an extra years warranty when I bought the vehicle new, now 6 months out of warranty. Seems ridiculous that it will cost a grand when in the past we would have popped down to halfords for a £5 bulb. Seems quite a few people are having the same problem. Sounds like a bad batch to me.
  12. Hi, Errr, If it ain't the same shape and same size, it won't fit. There are lot of spare parts websites, where you just need to type your plate number and they give you a whole bunch of fuel filter references. They're not 100% reliable, but 99% of the time they're correct. The most reliable way I know, is to look for OEM reference on ifinterface.com or any equivalent, and then check on those website if the reference they propose is compliant with your OEM P/N. I can't recommend any of those website, since I don't live in UK, but I'm pretty sure others will do. ;)
  13. Sorry, but that is BS. Especially mentioning Seat here, together with Cupra they are very noisy cars. Perhaps something is broken in your Octavia so you find it more noisy, but in general it is the same as similar class VW cars. No modern car remembers settings which EU regulation mandates them to forget. But unlike others, at least in newer models Skoda offers a button to quickly return to previous settings. Not the case in Octavia yet, but show me any other car from around 2020 which is better in this regard?

Hi Cairns, How did you get on? I have just got the same problem with by 2022 facelift.
  15. To be fair, I’ve ordered from Autodoc a few times and never really had any problems with them. Guess it depends on the situation, but I can see why you’re frustrated, especially with return postage costing that much! Definitely something worth checking before ordering, just to avoid getting stung like that.
  16. Current/suggested part number confirmed by VIN as 6Q0500051BB. Wondering if in that other thread the OP maybe gave me a VIN of a car he knew had disc rear axle, as that was their goal. Anyhoo, looks like the others have solved the info shortage well ahead of me. 🙂

  18. ok. I have skoda octavia 2022. I was having problems with locking and unlocking drivers door with KESSY, i went to local authorized Škoda dealer and service provider. They said to me that some antena in handle of door died, and then they changed my door handel with new antena and KESSYs sensors, they put on new update on car. Now is 8 months later and i am having the same problem.
  19. I haven't encountered that - IFF I (remember to) press the central locking button (once) it will unlock everything. My (ab)use case is, for whatever reason, at some point I press the central locking button to lock all doors, then when I park the car I forget all about it, stop the car, turn it off, DON'T press the central locking button again, open my driver's door (which will open no matter what the lock condition), and look like an idiot tugging on another door handle (which is still locked). (The boot will [almost] always open for me, because I [almost] always have the keyfob physically on my person, and the proximity of the keyfob will allow the boot to open no matter the car locking status). Is there any way to get the central locking system to give me an indication inside the cabin once I've parked - especially, right after I've turned off the ignition - before I get out (maybe as I open the 'locked' driver's door), to remind me that I've still got all of the other doors locked?
  20. The more I read about this car the more fascinating I find it. There are some very serious design choices and solutions in its outlandish body. But Jaguar has been here before... ... and although it is really easy to say "that looks so much better it's beautiful", it had a bit of a troubled design past itself. Jaguar has tried making attractive cars many times in even recent history (I include my F Type in this), but they don't sell! The 01 will either become a design classic, perhaps in the way the early Bangle BMWs have become, or it will be considered something akin to the recent Ronaldo bust. Time will tell, I guess.
  21. My octavia is the same one press and drivers door unlocks but needs two sometimes three to unlock other doors. Total pain. Keeps telling me to check deadlocks?? Read somewhere something to do with security. I get double press for boot security but why passenger doors?? Must be a way of disabling it. Alasdair
  22. I want the security aspect of "If I had the doors all centrally locked, and I turn off the car and open my door then the other doors DON'T unlock", but I often find myself turning off the car, opening my door, getting out, stepping to the passenger door behind me, and yanking on a locked handle to no effect 🤦 What would be useful would be if the central locking light (on the button console just in front of the shifter) would stay lit for a few minutes when the doors are centrally locked and I've turned off the car and opened my driver's door, to give a visual indication of "You doofus, if you get out and try to open the rear door now, without whacking the central locking button first, you'll just look like a stupid monkey banging on technology you don't understand!". 😅 Is there a coding option to have the centre console central locking button light stay on for a while after turning off the car/ opening the driver's door, or, really, any other way to get an indication that "the other doors are still locked"? thanks,

  24. Hi! I have a 2019 Skoda Fabia MK3 and I’m having a problem with Apple CarPlay. CarPlay only appears occasionally. I’ve managed to use it a few times, but most of the time it’s simply not available. When I connect my iPhone, I can only see MirrorLink and Android Auto – there is no option for Apple CarPlay. Originally, my infotainment system was running software version 8740. After reading a few posts here, I managed to update it to 8755, hoping this would solve the problem. Unfortunately, the issue is still there. I switched USB cables too. CarPlay ver. 210.81 if that's matter. Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there anything I need to enable or change in the infotainment settings, or perhaps another software update that could fix this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  25. Might also be a good idea to ask in the Octavia 3 forum https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/235-skoda-octavia-mk3-2013-2020/

  27. Presuming the switching between lobes is achieved by solenoids (as on an ACT engine) they would be visible on top of the engine after removing the plastic cover? If they are present then the fault code suggests either a wiring problem, or a failed solenoid. Time to investigate with the plastic cover off I reckon.
  28. Eeew - that's unfortunate for you... a Mk1 Leaf AND a Zafira... you have my sympathies
  29. In comparison the Jag looks like all four sides of it have been driven into a wall at speed... Just shows how bad the Jag design language is IMHO
  30. I wanted to close the topic after a good few miles and time, hopefully someone might find this useful - I believe my car is fixed by replacing the crankshaft sensor. I got this Bosch one - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235945871878 Fiddly but pretty straightforward to DIY replace too. Thanks again to this forum, and the people on this thread 👍
