  4. ...But the system warnings should be inhibited if you reset the system at the lower pressures (within reason) you want to use.
  5. Lower pressures could well be appropriate for snowy conditions, and, in any case will soon gain some pressure once you are running - I'd leave them as is and recheck at your first rest stop.
  6. Consider using Steel-Wire Armoured Cable for the run.
  7. 6.1.3.(b)(i), apparently: MOT inspection manual: cars and passenger vehicles - 6. Body, structure and attachments - Guidance - GOV.UK
  8. I confess to being very surprised that this seal was picked up on an MOT - was it flagging a fuel purge fault (MIL) on the instrument cluster?

  10. Replied, but for the benefit of others who may be reading:- the seal ring part number is 1K0 201 557A, currently £11.55 + VAT from Skoda. Lots of offerings for less than half that price online from the aftermarket, and lets face it, Skoda didn't supply a particularly durable one when this car was built, so there may not be a strong case for staying genuine.
  11. IMHO it's rather HW issue, not SW
  12. I don't own the radio; I have it connected to a bench power supply here, so I can't test those specific functions. It has been running on the power supply for several days now. Unfortunately, the owner doesn't know the details either—since the radio wasn't really working, he didn't use it and just wants to get it fixed up. Do you think it could be a software issue?

  14. Hi, I have the following system details on my mkIII Octavia Elegance -- Device part #: 5E 003 587 4A Hardware: 040 Software: 0421 It has the smaller screen, MIB1, but not sure if it's Bolero, Amundsen or Columbus? I assume this has never been updated, but I don't get the download screen, as I don't have the maps SD card -- it just complains about not having a card. I'm getting a card off the Yorkshire bay -- by gum! How do I get the latest soft/firm ware? Maybe the software on the SD card will also need updating, regularly ...

Okay started with both windows failing to open, it's been into Skoda three times with no positive lasting outcome. After the windows wouldn't open a Skoda employee forced them to shut and for a while they opened and closed but the glass could not be correctly placed on either side. Entering our garage I close the mirrors, sometimes when in a morning they will work and when selecting reverse the windows dip as had be programmed.Todsy everything stopped mirrors folded in but would not open left for 3/4 hours ignition on and mirrors opened but nothing worked, moved car onto garage locked mirrors wouldn't turn in locked and messy disarmed. Any solutions welcomed

  18. Hi Frank, Your going to have to give a lot more information in a post if you want anyone to be able to help if your having an issue?

  21. Thanks for that information, most helpful. I'm going to have to wait a while if I want to try and tap into the mains as the ground is like concrete and impossible to dig with shovels or spades, so once we have a decent amount of rain that softens the ground I might be able to get our gardening team to dig a trench across the lawn about 12" deep so I can install a cable conduit (usually a heavy duty water pipe) and bury it in the trench up to a base of a redundant lamp post base, reuse that for a charger on a post.
  22. Creation Motorsport are not far from me, but not sure if I like their catchcan kit- looks lie one of the cheap ones on ebay with some hose thrown into the deal (£67)
  23. thanks bullet-guy! Yes this forum has supplied all the info I need to at least do the SAI, N249,N112 deltes and, if I get that far, then fit a catch can. Hopefully the piggyback sump plug will arrive tomorrow- until I've sorted that out, I'm not ordering £250 of parts. Everyone keeps telling me I'm crazy to attempt this, but I've had such a series of hassles from garages, it's down to me. Still don't know if i can start on the deletes and arrive at a point that allows me to drive the car- probably inadvisable. Cos it's likely to take a few days and I expect problems along the way I'll try not to ask too many questions - I expect a lot of the folks who have contributed to the 'Octavia Mk 1' sub-forum have moved onto other cars by now. The posts are over ten years old thanks for the help so far !
  24. Missed this evenings sunset although a pleasant sky just afterwards
  25. There’s all sorts of stuff (mostly useless 😬). I did find a battery temperature app though which I’ve added to the Home Screen.
  26. If you find that you need to do a lot of charging not at home then it may be worth knowing about Tesla's charging network. Many of their "supercharger" locations are open to all. Tesla cars pay a reduced rate per kWhr. Most locations are open to all and if you dont drive a Tesla you can buy a "subscription" to get the cheaper rate that Tesla cars pay..... From Duckduckgo ....

  28. Thanks for your very comprehensive reply Arianne. I use exactly the format and folder structure you describe above on a Samsung 256GB usb-c stick. Also tried with other makes of sticks and a 1TB external ssd. Well that was my last shot at fixing my media playback woes. I’m in the process of ordering the Honda Civic eHEV in Advanced trim. I love it’s driving characteristics, fuel economy and ergonomic control layout. It comes with an 8 year guarantee too. Not as luxurious as the Superb but I can live with that, I came back from my test drive with a huge smile on my face!
  29. Yes, its literally a few posts down from this one. A few of us got the file from one of the guys and it works perfectly.
  30. Is there a firmware upgrade I need to do on my head unit ? If yes where can I get a free firmware file from to fix the clock ?
