ULEZ and other similar schemes we are being told are all about clean air for everybody but are they really just a means of making money from motorists?
I'm not going to explain it further; you just need to think outside the box a bit. It might well be a load of *******s, and then again it might not. I merely offered another viewpoint; the technology is there, and it is now well proven that ANPR can identify the car. All that is now required is to network the ANPR data, and the government agency has all the info it needs to implement PPM. Join up the dots and see what you make of it. Revenue raised by LEZ, stays with the local authorities and should be used to improve local transport. Revenue from speeding fines goes directly to the government's HM Treasury Consolidated Fund.

noxik600 Do you have the coding so I can enable "Rear lights during daytime running lights", as I see this is one of your mods. Thanks in advance

Oil consumption ?
As E13 says above, engine is much better served if driven-off very soon after start - and driven reasonably gently until up to temperature. Coolant and oil will get up to operating temperature faster if this is done, bore-washing and wear will also be reduced.

vRS petrol valve stem seals. What should it cost to replace?
I've recently been told that the valve stem seals in my TFSI DSG vRS need replacing (2012, 140k). It's been drinking oil for a while, rough idles when cold and wet, and when investigated there was oil on two spark plugs and white tips on the others. It currently runs fine most of the time, but will now intermittently throw a wobbly for a few minutes which results in a flashing engine management light, some misfires and kangarooing down the road (hence the investigation work). I've been quoted £1.5-2k to get it done. My guess is the car is worth £2-3k when running properly, but I'm happy to be guided. I've recently had £400 work done (new spark plugs and PCV) and fitted a new (Bosch Silver) battery. The car is otherwise in good condition with a decent service history (I think full, but would need to check) and we were thinking of selling before this started. Two questions: Does anyone have an idea how much valve stem seal replacement should cost? I know it involves removing the head, which is my guess where a lot of the cost is. And is it worth doing to sell as a roadworthy car, or sell before the work with full disclosure? I have an invoice with work done (above) and their suspicions of what the root cause is. Thanks

@Graham Butcher What has the Government missing out on income from fuel duty got to do with things than? That was what i read in your post and thought WTF is he on about. Anyway what a carry on about Climate Change and fires and now floods and it is just another warm summer.

And, I never said it was did I? The cameras can be networked together and perform a dual role. Local authorities use ANPR to bill you for driving if your car is not compliant with emissions. The government need your registration details, which can again be extracted from speed cameras, average speed cameras and LEZ cameras, as they all use ANPR. It really is not hard to think these points through; and look at the possibilities. As always, all I'm doing is thinking about things and not just accepting everything we are told as 100% factual. That way I'm not caught out if it happens, and as always, it will be proven one way or the other in due course who was right and who was wrong.

Karoq led matrix headlights
My car is model year 2025, so is restricted by SFD2, which it is not yet possible to unlock, much to my annoyance.

Local Authority,s / Councils. It is not the Treasury or Governments getting the cash money / income from ULEZ / LEZ or Average speed cameras is it?

There could well be a simple explanation regarding this, and again, I'm not saying it is, but there are such things as creative accountancy, which is nothing new at all. Or maybe, just maybe, the low-emission zones were always planned as part of something else altogether, and possibly TFL gave the game away when they were advertising for staff to run the LEZ for, I believe, Coventry. That is nowhere near or has anything to do with London, yet they are involved, and the job description mentioned road pricing was the goal. So with that in mind, are all of these LEZs with their network of roadside cameras the preparation for the PPM scheme by networking these cameras and new ones being installed, like the massive growth of the Average Speed Camera installations, even on normal 2-lane roads such as the A414 between Chelmsford and Harlow, which is already operational now? After all, the government knew that with EVs they were going to be missing out on the income from fuel duty, so was this the back-door entry into PPM? If they announced that it was their intention to introduce PPM, it might have derailed their electrification plans. It has to be considered that LEZs could effectively have been planned as Trojan horses.

Repeated daily Infotainment update issues
Thanks good to know... I will email the service manager at my local garage and see if he gives the same feedback but I guess it's the mostly likely answer.... Agreed, it's starting to get a little annoying now... Gabbo

New software available version 1989
Massive thanks to everyone in this thread for hosting the files and providing instructions on how to do this update manually. I went from version 1810 to 1989 without issues (so far at least) in my 2020 Octavia. The old version was slow and had a few bugs so was a welcome update, the new version feels much snappier. From start to finish took 45-50 minutes plus a factory reset straight after. My car for some reason did not get OTA updates and I even asked my Skoda dealer for help as it felt risky but they just said "we don't do that" which feels crazy. The car is great but the support from Skoda less so and the documentation isn't very clear either in the manual or on their website. I'll add pics in case anyone is interested in part numbers and the like.

Royal Prang
Thread revival. No point IMO on a new thread since it is about Harry. Security is a private matter, the Prime Minister says so. Lets see just what Security the Prince and Family does get as the travel on the Kings Highways. The dude himself as a War Hero who admitted to how many he killed from his seat up in a helicopter. Surely he has a very high price on his head.

Karoq gearbox doesn't creep?
Many report jerkiness, often motoring journalists & often those new to a DSG. As it is they are fitted to a big variety of engines, power outputs from 69 bhp to over 300 bhp. Funnily the same vehicle might be jerky off the line with one driver and not with another. Best to comment might be driving instructors that teach in cars with a DSG. There are 3 of these i know on on this forum.
