Sounds like low / faulty battery.

Wrong! For reasons unfathomable to me VAG made engines that will start with a significantly discharged or failing battery but communications between electronic modules that cannot.
  3. Just wrapped the car to make it looks a little special: the small corner on rear door (IDK how to call it), and the buttom parts of all the doors (under the original black trim) . The blacked corner makes the rear window and door looks longer than before. It gives the car a kind of 4 door couple proportion. But on the other hand, it looks a bit strange, especially on a close look. I'm still not sure whether to keep it. The wrap on the buttom of doors is quite subtle, but it does make a quite nice contrast. I like it very much.
  4. They open well before full throttle. After much experimentation over 5 years with the flaps open and closed I have discovered : a) With the flaps open the top speed of the car was 165mph with them closed it was 155mph b) 0-60 With flaps open was 4.3 seconds with them closed was 5.9 seconds c) The car sounds like a herd of stampeding Buffalo with the flaps open and with them closed sounds like the Mrs's Revlon Hairdryer albeit at 'High' on the power switch....

I think you need to compare the Enyaq 80 with the ID4 First Ed. The things on the ID4 which need to be added on to the Enyaq include: 20 inch wheels (hardly a necessity!), keyless entry, heated windscreen, 125 kW charger, some metallic paint, assisted drive (plus?), USBs in the back. But by going with the ID4, I will get a smaller infotainment display (10 inches vs. 13 inches). The Skoda man has been on the blower today telling me that his order book is open for Enyaqs. I was tempted to call back to see what the lead time is - rumour has it September (probably somewhere above on this thread). As to whether my 24 March date holds true for the ID4 remains to be seen, but I'll happily come back and give impressions of the thing as I am sure the Enyaq will be no different to drive.
  6. @VRS_Dan I'm over on MBClub, a friendly place but not a patch on Briskoda. Skoda owners are a lot closer to motoring normality and are more into function over form. https://forums.mbclub.co.uk/ My affair with Mercedes-Benz was brief, but my W212 was a very good car... COVID meant my annual mileage went from 30,000 miles to around 2,000 miles so my need for a reliable fuel efficient diesel saloon ended. So I replaced it with a 16 year old 3.5 V6 minivan freshly imported from Japan, like you do!

What was involved in adding speed limiter? I have ACC but no mode button on the ACC stalk. Throttle pedal has a click at the bottom of the travel, so kick down sensor / switch is there

At my dealer in EU around 3 months. Combi 1.5 TSI DSG.

Contacted my dealer on Friday and was quoted 25 weeks for a 1lt estate or 20 weeks for the 1.5 lt
  10. Just checked - the Mercedes is said to be 5.7m long and 2 metres wide. That's 70's Cadillac territory!! In fact to put it into Mercedes-Benz context, longer and wider than this: Thats huge! Please bring back little agile F1 cars with the new 2025 rules.

Thanks Will update once I've fitted the new part cheers
  12. Thanks everyone. My car does have start/stop system. I shall ask my local garage if he has VCDS software.
  13. Briskoda - come with or for a skoda, stay for the banter....
  14. Afaik, for rear EPB, no winding back or pushing pistons is needed. Its actually quicker and easier to change the rear pads and discs than with old fashioned manual handbrakes. Provided you can trigger service mode with an appropriate diagnostic tool that is.
  15. @camelspyyderyou did the R&D for them just as VW have with their customers. The LC's were maybe not expected to have a long life if they got to the end user they were meant for in the taleban.
  16. Better day today feeling strong most of the time and managed 2 hours and 51km so Day 52 totals are 69 hours and 1,727km.
  17. I wish. Toyota seemed to skip some environmental testing on the model we had. All 3 Land Cruiser Prados died when the temperature stayed above 49C for a few days. I got very sick of jogging to the garage in that heat to borrow jump leads every other day.😆
  18. Lol, don't shoot the messenger! (well hopefully you're not) I gave the Skoda representative a heavily sarcasm laced reply, which roughly translated from sarcasm to plain English read 'I don't believe a word of that...' Phil
  19. It doesn’t necessarily have to be VCDS but you need something similar because of electronic parking brake. I believe it either disengages or winds back a little then wind in manually I believe (if someone knows, do you still have to wind the piston back after EBP has been deactivated/whatever it does?) My car has passed thankfully so will either DIY or independent to do it for me. My lease is up soon and still pondering wether to buy it at end of PCP or get another but I need a job for the latter if not balloon payment it is.
  20. Hello 👋👋 I have had my skoda fabia 09 plate for almost 3 years now and it's been a well behaved car up until now. Im not sure if it is now possessed and needs a priest or if it has a little problem that someone on this forum could help with. So before I crack out the garlic and crosses I thought I'd better say hi!!
  21. A very warm welcome to the community @Vixxi!
  22. I guess we must have been lucky then as SWMBOs 1.2 Fabia was bought in 2005 and sold in 2016 with no timing chain related issues.

Hi, Had the obligatory call from Skoda today regards my MPH/KMH issue; "We are aware of the issue, but have no estimated date of fix" Now, I don't want to start a conspiracy thing here but I had a quick trawl through the thread and have compiled this: MuddyFunster (Me) Part number 5E3035816 - MPH/KPH Issue H/W H56 S/W 1668 Nosnehm Part number 5E3035816 - MPH/KPH Issue H/W H56 S/W 1668 OctaviaFirstEdit - MPH/KPH Issue No Detail FOX2319 - MPH/KPH Issue Part Number 5E3035816 H/W H56 S/W 1668 Matmacka - No Issue 5E3035816B H/W H56 S/W 1668 All of us share a common part number for the unit and all of us share the same Software and hardware, whereas Matmaka has a later 'B' revision unit (5E3035816B) and does not suffer the issue. Now using my limited powers of deduction, and failing a larger sample size I would say (Tin foil hats on, everybody) that it points towards a hardware issue? I've seen other forum threads where it's discussed that 'such and such feature is only available on Hardware revision x' etc, I just wondered. Could I ask if other forumites with and without the issue could post up the same detail from their car as above? - I'll edit this post to reflect the data - just so that it can either a) blow me out of the water or b) raise a case with my dealer to physically change the hardware. Cheers Phil
  24. If you had a glow plug issue you would have a fault light up on the dash, probably the engine light not glow plug light, that's what happened to my Greenline when no3 glow plug failed. I take it you have checked the oil level.
  25. Guessing the low oil pressure is due to the battery getting low after continued cranking. Try spraying some Easy Start or Brake Cleaner into the air inlet while cranking, if it fires you will know its a fuel related problem. I would charge the battery before going any further. It won't need the glow plugs to start, now the outside temperature has risen.
  26. When I had this issue on a 1.9tdi Touran it was a combination of clogged up lift pump filter in the fuel tank, and a leaking tandem fuel pump. Oh, and I had a faulty glow plug relay.
  27. Wow, what a change that is! I do see the logic to it though. I have always found what i need here on Briskoda so wont close my account, particularly as there is still a MKii Octy in the family but also just for the general helpful advice and giggles! I Will check out the MBClub, see what its like, thanks!
  28. That's fair enough, I'm still yet to see an e10 pump in the uk.
  29. Never understood the jerkiness and slow reaction that many seem to say about DSGs. The ones I have driven and owned are brilliant. Only occasionally the gearbox is confused or bit slow to engage clutch but that's it. It's smooth, fast shifting and gives a direct feeling like a manual gearbox otherwise. Newer TC auto with lockups probably feels similar with added smoothness due to the TC at set off or crawl speed.
  30. If you use the Yeti for towing and intend an 85mm drop then you will need to consider the tow bar height. Will that drop you below the type approved minimum and will your trailer be too nose down.
  31. I was too slow, but was about to say the same. I've got the wet 7 speed and the first couple of pull aways can be a bit snatchy, but OK after that. Far from bad and the rest of the changes are pretty much imperceptible.
  32. Isn't the DSG in the 1.6d Passat the 'dry' DSG as opposed to the 'wet' DSG in the more powerful 2.0d. I'm assuming the 1.6d is limited to 250Nm torque, if not then it will be the same 'wet' version. It might account for any differences you experience, even though their operation is very similar.
  33. Been driving my Superb 150 diesel DSG for 4 months now and don't find it anything but smooth all the time. When the engine is cold it sometimes stays in 6th gear up to say 63mph and not having paddles I have to wait until it's warm enough to change upto 7th. However when it is warm it can change into 7th from 53mph. Overall after 2,500 miles it has averaged just over 60mpg so happy with the economy. Using the Individual mode I have the default setting in Eco so that the gearbox coasts (goes into neutral to save fuel) and the steering set to Sport which I prefer. Best economy was in the milder weather last October when I managed a 27 mile commute of 78.5mpg and I think in the spring and summer then 80mpg should be possible. Overall I prefer the 7 speed DSG to previous 6 speed manual Superb's I've owned.
  34. It's impossible to know exactly what changes between part numbers. The final letter can denote: - a newer part - an improved part - similar parts with different PR codes/features - a change to how it's manufactured (cost cutting) Anyway, here is a scan of a Superb with a similar (to yours) K rev module and factory fitted memory motors here: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/481377-amundsen-upgrade-to-google-maps-with-live-traffic/ That suggests the door controllers should support dipping. You might want to check your coding though, your previous post gave this lcode: 001C0120DE00020000001100 XX <-- byte 04 DE = 1101 1110 X <-- bit 1 is ticked Instructions clearly state bit 1 should not be ticked if memory motors aren't fitted. Maybe try: 001C0120DA00020000001100 If that doesn't work, I think you'll need to retrofit a memory motor and wiring to get this working properly.

It’s going to depend where you live and what options. If no other options there might be a few race blue with the beige as that’s quite a standard combo I’d imagine already allocated. I order a 1.5 manual SEL hatch with a few options on 4th December. Still no build week yet. I was quoted an estimate of May when I ordered.
  36. Also it's useful info for the rest of us. Sometimes even new members use the search function to look for answers to the question they come here to ask.
  37. My wife and I had a discussion over the weekend, and I think we're going to settling for a 2019 330i M Sport Plus. It's slightly down on power compared to the Superb, but just as quick (I'm assuming it's lighter). The boot is big enough for most things, and we'll have roof bars anyway to carry bikes, so we'll just get a roof box for holidays. It'll have plenty of kit, the exhaust at least sounds half decent without being too quiet or too loud, and I'm sure the handling will be far better than anything we've had before. There's the added bonus that it'll still be under warranty where as some of the Audi's we were looking at were 2 year old than this. I think given our budget, it's probably the best choice. It might not have the outright power of something like an Audi S5, but hopefully it'll make up for that in handling.
  38. From memory (no longer have an Octavia) yellow arrow is screwdriver, under the jack handle, red arrow is the threaded end of the towing eye, it fits on its side:
  39. lol no way karoq is over 2 tonnes karoq is a small SUV and a small car in general only bigger SUVs have more than 2 tonnes of weight (and medium sized ones if they have all wheel drive)..

Thanks mate I hope it's not going to cost me too much on the insurance
  41. Yes - fortunately I prefer the older Jaguars and loved my old S-Type, which despite being much maligned and a parts bin special (lots of Ford components) it was a cracking car. I'd very much like to own an S-Type R at some point, but in the meantime an old 4.2 V8 XJ will do

So, another update to the build. Finally. The 1.4 turbo i purchased some 10 months ago was fitted shortly after it arrived, and was unsuccessfully mapped in quite a few times by multiple people. After quite some time talking with JBS about EA211 engines and turbos, they told me that they'd decided to develop a hybrid for it finally. Sooooo.. I'm the first person with the JBSL12 Hybrid Turbo! Results; That's 181bhp, and 206 ft/lbs (280nm). With stock exhaust, and stock intake. Leading on from this we learned; The turbo is capable of 1.7 bar, but we only used 1.5 bar to reach the 280nm mark which is about the limit for the stock rods (we thought it'd need about 1.6 bar but it was actually much more responsive to the additional boost than we expected). The stock exhaust becomes a restriction at the 5000 rpm point, and it actually took less boost to get to the 280nm torque than we expected. Sports cat should cure that and allow up to around 200-205bhp (again, limited by stock rods), but... The high pressure fuel pump just starts to run out at 180bhp, it could probably manage 190 at a push, so they're looking into taking the internals from a 1.8tsi hpfp and putting them inside our hpfp. Uprated rods should let it make as much as the turbo can make, which will top out probably about 220-230bhp. 200bhp/litre would be an impressive feat, but it's not something that could be done without excessive RnD into uprating internals and custom built turbos (hybrid wouldn't be enough for that).
  43. That's the gross vehicle weight. The Minimum Kerbweight (with driver) for the 2.0TSI is 1584-1700kg, while the 1.5TSI DSG is 1387-1627kg. So that's an increase of only around 75kg.
  44. And another important factor of the Stinger: it is an absolutely gorgeous car when lowered and on 20's
  45. Kenai did an awesome job of explaining the models so I wont add anything there... My two pence worth is that I have a 245 challenge (69 plate) and its awesome, drives beautifully and is loaded with extras above standard, can't complain! Love it.
  46. On a brand new car seriously? What a muppet that guy! That bit holds the intake duct in place. It probably won't go anywhere as apart from the two screws there are some clips that keep it in place and there is also nowhere to go even if loose, (you remove it by unscrewing and pushing down to unclip). So it won't do any harm staying like this until you replace it, but you should definitely demand a full replacement at their cost, this is unacceptable.
  47. @silver1011 was looking at and possibly bought a merc reasonably recently. he may have a lead on a decent one
