To be honest I’m sick of people moaning about delivery times. If you’re expecting things to arrive as fast as they did pre-covid you are delusional. Everything is still up in the air and will be for a long time. Shortages of many things are expected to last well into 2022, especially electronics but loads of manufactured goods too. I am sure the dealers/manufacturers are pulling their hair out trying to get these things sorted but a lot of it is out of their hands. It doesn’t help with customers constantly badgering them who appear to be wilfully ignorant of the times we live in. My advice? Accept it isn’t going to come on time and plan accordingly and stop complaining OR cancel your order and get something else. It’s not a life and death thing, it’s just a holiday you are going on, be grateful you are able to even think about doing it, there’s a lot of people in much worse situations right now. Get a grip. At least if you cancel my car can have the chips which would have gone in yours….

I agree that delays will be with us for long time, but I too get upset when dealers refuse to be honest by pretending that something is on time rather than telling a customer straight that it could be many months. There is a balance between keeping an order, vs a very unhappy customer because they could have cancelled and got something else promptly if truth had been properly explained

I reckon @e-Roottoot is correct in that the statistics are just statistics, i.e. lies. Probably 10% are declared on drive when there is no room because of 3 car household and one car drive or just a plain lie for insurance purposes. Another 10% are off the radar, no insurance or declared at wrong address even wrong owner. A recent case in the papers about a poor guy whos been battling with DVLA for over a year that the uninsured car registered in his name and address is not his and not even there. £1000's of pounds in fines and ballifs threatening him. Let us not forget that parking in car parks or in bays by tower blocks is usually on private land, but not really a drive or owned by the vehicle owner. Would a landlord permit or fund installation of a charger in his property, I suspect many would not allow any alterations. Maybe a law is required in that case.

Lucky you and not necessarily; I’ve had a counter experience with AE. I’ve made a statement of fact Re the U.K. Customs and Excise law, nothing else. Almost certainly, the struts advertised on AE and elsewhere will be made by the same local manufacturers used by VAG for their Chinese production lines and should be of the same “quality” or hopefully, somewhat better!

The first thing Id do Kharl is ask yourself What changed before this problem occurred and zone in on that change - Did this occur in the run up to the engine change or after.? Its pointless and frustrating to just change parts without justification. I don't know if this might be relevant but did you use your original injectors or the ones that came with the replacement engine ? Why I'm asking is injectors don't like sitting idle with fuel in them and have a habit of sticking. Might work for a minute or two but then a piece of dirt could leave them open - I find this a lot working with classics but its worth ruling in or out anyway I have access to a scrapped 01 Golf Mk4 SDi and if you need anything I can see about getting it to you out there somehow

Got the car looked at yesterday by Aberdeen Volks Centre who diagnosed that the timing had been set up incorrectly ! They rectified and don't believe any lasting damage has been done thankfully. Car is now back to being nice and quiet as it always had been Now need to seek reimbursement of the bill from the original garage that did the cambelt last week...

We bought it! It’s in cracking condition, aside from a few stone chips on the front bumper it’s really hard to pick fault. The interior was spotless. And, of course, it swallowed our pushchair with ease! We didn’t realise it had the under-floor storage as well (no spare wheel) so that and the side pockets mean the storage is vast. Thanks again to everyone on this thread for sharing your experience and opinions.

I've had a search on here and not found an index of Skoda (most likely VAG) independent specialist dealers. As I move out of warranty, I'm thinking about looking outside the official Skoda dealer network for servicing. (Mainly for convenience.) It would be handy if there was an index of independent Skoda specialist on Briskoda, so we can avoid the duff ones and reward the good ones with more custom. I'm not selling anything so I'm unbiased. Blimey, it was hardly an insult! Not every opinion is worth anything, most people know sweet FA and just parrot rubbish they misheard down the pub, to learn about stuff you have to STUDY and learn the facts, whether that's in education or the workplace. There are opinions and there are facts, they are two different things entirely. An intercooler acts like a heatsink, it absorbs heat from the air travelling through it depending on it's mass and its internal area, therefore a large intercooler can generally absorb more heat from the pressurised air, it can also exchange this heat with the outside air which is why front mount is better, no intercooler can reduce charge temperature below the ambient air temperature so the most power an engine can make for a given boost pressure occurs before the intercooler starts to get hot, this is heatsoak. As the temperature of the intercooler increases the power drops, a FMIC is worth about 10 bhp less power drop than the standard SMIC. Thems the facts, form your own opinion.

@RobMac1 I have also upgraded to MIB2 and the MQB connector which comes with the camera perfectly matches the unit. Also, I don't have any issue regarding the handle side with the camera on the side.

One positive outcome of reading car forums both here and Pistonheads, is that I have come to the realisation that new cars are way too much hassle and unreliable and too techie for my liking. My 2016 Octavia hasn't cruise/ACC or front sensors or lane assist or touchscreen heating and is all the better for it! I have had both Kamiq and Scala courtesy cars and neither have felt as good as my Octavia. Several times I have had the lane assist trying to pull me into the hedge, and once slammed on the brakes for no reason.

Ah right, I don't think its an issue of aftermarket parts since it only started making the noise about 5-10km after I did an oil change on it, that combined with it only happens when the engine is warm, could have something to do with the variable valve timing, maybe the computer changes the timing a bit as the engine warms up, as for the people with scanners there seem to be 2 of them 30mins away from me so I might see if they want to take a look

Mesmerising, I want one too! Does the tracked unit remain on the flatbed in that position with the car at an angle or does it release the car and go into some kind of docking station underneath? Narrow drive too small for the recovery truck, I am guessing rear wheel(s) locked up requiring dollies, dangerous to use on a sloping drive without the vehicle handbrake. If it was just a simple mechanical breakdown then the tracked unit was a bit of overkill but probably Elf & Safety says the operators cannot push vehicles any more.

. That makes a ton of sense to me. Whenever I've been deciding what car to get, I've always plumped for the biggest and most powerful engine I can afford to run. I can't think of many occasions - none, really - when I've wished I'd got something with a smaller and less powerful one. On the other hand, there have been several when I wish I'd had the courage of my convictions and bought something with more beans. You could argue with some justification that you shouldn't ever get yourself into a situation where you needed it, but having a little bit to spare is always a good thing. .

Yes they have the VED and the Reg. No.. They've said the car will be ready for collection from Saturday 21st. However, I've said until the extended warranty issue is resolved to my satisfaction I won't be collecting it.

I'm glad you've got it sorted. However I'd be looking for a clear explanation of exactly what went wrong. This is pretty vague, and if I was a dodgy garage owner who didn't want to give you any money towards the fix, I'd tell you that there's no way you wouldn't have noticed that your car didn't have the timing set up correctly when you drove away from the garage. Presumably, something was not tightened properly after the original work, and 350 miles later, it worked loose, and the timing belt slipped (or whatever actually happened), and then the car started running badly. So to give yourself the best chance of some money back from the garage who did the original work, I suggest you try and get a precise explanation of what the original garage failed to do correctly, and how that meant the problem only arose 350 miles later and why it required you using another garage to correct the problem. (In writing would be ideal, but I realise that might be difficult.) Good luck!

It is correct there's no neutral and towing one could damage the EV. This is because the motor is always connected, without control electronics, towing an EV will generate electric current from the motor and could damage the rest of power circuits if not countered or controlled in any way. But it is also okay to tow with the car switched-on (like the videos) and charge the EV this way. Extra load on the tow hooks and clutch of the towing vehicle though. For FWD EV's, it's absolutely fine to load the front onto a dolly and tow this way.

Thanks Xman and all for the info. My Karoq is a manual and I was in a queue of traffic with EPB on and car in gear with clutch depressed so maybe I had slightly released the clutch without realising ; I'll try to replicate later ! As a matter of interest, I did find a report on Autoinsider.co.uk that there was a recall for Karoqs in November 2018 relating to cars built between 1.7.17 and 31.8.18 for what appears to be this same problem : "Parking brake may be released inadvertently when disengaging clutch", recall ref 45H5. It required a software update to fix. Anyway, car is in local dealer week after next so maybe then I'll get clarification.

Still not decided what I’m going to do but have a few options now so that’s good. Pretty certain it’s the struts so not so keen on paying £120 for investigation to be told sorry not covered. Think my opening gambit will be can you tell me categorically if the struts are covered by the warranty if they are happy days ( I’m sure they aren’t ) if not I’ll put the £120 towards one of the other options.

The degree of difference between the front and rear wheels depends on which Haldex unit is fitted in your car. Haldex 5 claims to pre-engage and therefore avoid any detectable slippage. I think Haldex 4 engages within a few degrees of wheel rotation at different speeds. The Off Road Button alters the ABS and Traction Control settings and enables the Hill Descent Control. The only thing I discovered about driving in snow is that the handrake switch disables the Haldex so that you can perform lovely pirouettes with the handbrake.

We have O4 1.5 Style manual. ACT is no issue, I can sense it always, but passengers do not. When my wife is driving, she doesn't know, doesn't care, doesn't hear, or feel anything, or is aware that such a system exists in the car. I suppose majority of owners are like her. Kangorooing a bit is still there, especially when releasing clutch gently, but not a thing to avoid car.

Yes, the dealership took the car in overnight to test it the following morning. However, they claimed they couldn't recreate the problem. They did update the software but that didn't resolve this issue. If it's more pronounced over winter then I'll try again.

1.5tsi has now been for 67000km. Had it from the factory. E-tec only for like 300km. ACT on both are quite the same, expect e-tec shuts the engine off when coasting.

Woohoo. Got it off with a long ratchet extension and a lot of force after cutting the pipe. Nearly went flying when it cracked the first time. Then used a ratchet spanner to get the rest off. The plug on the end was slightly different, had a plastic nub in a different place but cut that off and went in fine. Hopefully I can clear the error and somehow force a regen otherwise looks like I’m gonna have to go the garage.

Regarding the juddering windscreen wipers, the rear wiper on our Karoq SE-L was very juddery. I have just changed it to a brand new Bosch rear wiper blade (Bosch model number A331H), and that fixed the problem instantly. I wish I had changed it sooner.

Lock the car with the button on the key fob and within 5 seconds touch the door sensor, this disables the kessy. After this the car can only be unlocked by pressing the button on the key fob. No need fro tin boxes or faraday pouches. tom

If it looks like the Vision iV concept I think it will be very popular. Word is that VAG HQ put the mockers on Vision iV due to it looking better than more expensive rivals from Audi and VW. My Mrs would have one at drop of a hat.

Agreed. You only have to look at the way the majority of new model cars are advertised. Far more emphasis is placed upon luxury features and gadgets than on anything associated with the performance of the vehicle. It's also true of used vehicles. I see countless ads that say 2.0 TDI with no mention of which power output.

You have hit the nail on the head and to my chagrin it seems the majority of new car purchasers are willingly buying into the bull**** judging by the way the content of this forum has drastically changed over the last year or 18 months. It seems that many people are more interested in their social media than driving and would willingly let the car drive for them if it never disturbed them.

It is the one thing I like missing from my old Octavia................ too much unnecessary 'technology'. If I get stuck in traffic I can turn my ignition off, and I like to stay awake and paying attention, reading the road whilst driving. I find it helps..........
