  1. Michelin has released the cross climate 2 in Europe in 107 sizes Replaces the original and plus versions There is a review on tyre reviews https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/Michelin-CrossClimate-2-VS-Michelin-CrossClimate.htm Unfortunately not available in 215/45 R18 fitted to my Arona, and used on Kamiq
  2. Cheers John, in - laws and their French friend who keeps Sheep on their land did it 2 or 3 months ago and hopefully it's been Sunny and no rain 😀 Re the plates I'll go away and see what the font of all knowledge says..... the Daily Fail 🤔 😀
  3. Crossing the Cuckoo Trail a little bit earlier this afternoon. Was 3 to 3.5" long. Not 100%, but think it's Hawk Moth caterpillar: Gaz

I promised an update following a drive using ACC in my [test] updated SEL 1st Edition. My route included both 2 and 3 lane motorway (M3 J12 - J8), as well as single and dual carriageway roads (A30 west from J8). Pleased to report that the ACC was doing what it should do… Reduced my speed on catching up with a vehicle in my lane Maintaining my speed when catching up with and passing a vehicle in the lane to my Left Reducing my speed when catching up with a vehicle in the lane to my Right Interestingly, in the latter of those three scenarios, I was in Lane 1, reasonably close to a vehicle in Lane 2, being held back by ACC then as we got to a right hand bend that vehicle became outside of the radar field so my car accelerated. This is something mentioned in the car user manual so no great surprise but a reminder that the driver is (should be) in control and that ACC is merely an aid. Approaching a slow moving queue, I ‘allowed’ the ACC to reduce my speed from 70mph to about 35-40mph before I decided to drop a gear or two and take over - a scenario where I think a DSG ‘box would be much better suited. The KPH/MPH settings continue to work as they should and to my surprise the system allowed a change to that setting whilst in motion - I recommend that the driver doesn’t do it though! Subjectively, the system feels quicker than it did before; but I couldn’t be absolutely certain about it (it’s 20 weeks since I previously drove it!). I am convinced that it is quicker than the system fitted in the loan Octavia SE 1st Edition though. Navigation Favourites appear to save OK - but I only have two so far, carried over from March/April time. I will be giving feedback to Kate at Škoda UK this week and I hope that the ‘fix’ can be deployed more widely soon.
  5. Heres some Makes it look like you have 6 pistons at each corner. It will look brilliant. https://www.luxuryautohouse.co.uk/online-store/AOOA-Brake-Caliper-Covers-All-Makes-and-Models-p237410805?utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=shp&utm_network=u&utm_mobile=01&utm_creative=494648993718&utm_position=&utm_random=17633338568061811558&gclid=Cj0KCQjw-NaJBhDsARIsAAja6dO7G7pALt0aeu3MmK9-xellhuC7jwjK-L19bRyNhHkkbG4KBB2WM7waApwzEALw_wcB&utm_campaign=smart shopping - gb&utm_ad_group_id=384896&utm_campaign_id=551240&utm_prod_id=237410805
  6. Stupidity 🙄 Order amended to Crossclimate 2's 😁 Gaz
  7. 2021 L&K Hatch picked up yesterday. Ex-GM’s car at Carr’s Exeter - 280 4x4 in Magic Black (which is a stunning colour up close). Pretty much all the main options I can see (albeit some no cost); sunroof, 2-spoke steering wheel, 19” Trinity Anthracite wheels, ventilated front seats. Enjoyed a lovely drive back to London yesterday and Southampton and back today…and got the SOS error already. Otherwise I’m loving the different characteristics in the driver profiles etc.
  8. You can find that ATS Euromaster if you call in to a branch might be able to get in Michelin tyres that you want and fit them and beat a Price you get online from Black Circles to have supplied and fitted at ATS Euromaster or another fitting centre. Michelin own ATS Euromaster & BlackCircle..
  9. As there seems to be a lot of people asking questions about this lately, I thought I'd put together a quick guide showing how I fitted my reverse camera to a facelift VRS hatchback. They way that i've fitted this will apply to most models, with the key differences being the size of handle (based upon car model year) and whether hatch or estate (but this is just inside trim differences), there may also be wiring loom differences for earlier cars or none VRS models. I've benefited from info from these forums so hopefully this will be useful to others. I am by no means an expert & I won't be able to answer all of your questions, hopefully others will chip in and can add other info as well. First of all, this is the camera that I ordered for my MY 2017 VRS (Camera A/Handle A): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000230897829.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.40694c4dTEPT93 (link may no longer be valid when you read this so screenshot below) No programming is required for this camera and it supports dynamic reverse guidelines Tools: Trim removal tools would be useful, but otherwise plastic tool that won't mark your car, or screwdrivers or similar with masking tape over the end. A T20 torx head tool is required if you have a hatchback to remove the pulldown boot strap Cable rods are very useful, I couldn't have fitted through the roof lining without. Stereo removal tools unless they come with your camera kit Cable route - I went with an OEM route for my cabling, following existing cables through the roofliner and out to the back as show by the red line below. The camera: The first thing that I did was to check that the boot release switch was working on the new unit - there's no way you want to wire this in and find it is faulty. You'll need to start removing the boot trim to access it. Remove the plastic clips from the lower boot trim- this consists of a few plastic clips which easily pop out with trim remover/screwdriver. There are 8 of these on the hatchback. After that start removing the upper plastic trim, this simply requires forces to release the metal clips. You don't need to remove all of this for now, but it will all need to come off later Remove the lower upholstered trim covering the tailgate. More metal clips - work your way around. You'll also need to remove the pull down strap with the T20 torx head. When this is down you should be able to drop the boot liner which will give access to the boot release handle. This can be awkward to remove, but can be done by pushing in the clip on one on the ends whilst also pushing down on the handle from the inside (ignore the clips along its length) - it should then pop out. Repeat for the other side. Unplug the harness and plug the new handle in - check the release switch works. You can either now push the new handle in until it clips, or leave it out to test the video connection later before fitting. To wire it in Remove the glovebox (open, rock left to right whilst pulling up & you'll hear the bottom clips release. Raise the glovebox lid up and inside the housing and reach in and remove the dampening on the left hand side) Use the stereo release keys to release the multimedia unit. The kit used here comes with a replacement harness that sits between the original one and the media unit & includes the video feed cable. Some people have removed the upper glovebox section to provide more access, be careful not to unplug the airbag connector if you do this. This can be fiddly, but I found the best way was to lie on my back with my head in footwell looking up at the unit from underneath. With the media unit slid fowards this gives access to the harness. It's the large one at the bottom and there is a locking connecting that needs to be pushed backwards to release. Check how it works on your replacement harness. Unplug old harness and plug it in to one end of the new one, push the harness in to the void and plug the new connector block in to the media unit. This took me a while to get it all to fit in. When done you can now test the video feed to the rear camera before your start wiring it in permanently. I took the camera cable over the top of the fusebox cage & out through the side panel I then ran the cable up the A Pillar to the roof lining and all the way to the end. Cable rods were really useful at this point, especially to get around the B pillar , and to go from the end of the roof liner through the cable exit point behind the rubber trunking where the original boot cables are. You can also run the cable in the trim above the sill and work your way back up to the roof lining on the C pillar. When you get to the end of the roof lining you'll need to unclip the rubber gator at the top of the boot so you can get the cable out of the roof liner and in to the boot via this gator. If you install the same way as me you only need to peel the roof liner down a few cm, being careful not to deform or damage it and you'll see the OEM cables behind. Once you've got the cable this far it's a case of feeding it through the rubber gator, up the side of the boot and over to the handle; connect the video cable and tidying up any spare cable. Everything should now be up and running. Retrace your steps to refit your trim. You now have a fully working reverse camera, activated when reverse is selected and with dynamic guidelines. The parking sensor guide now shifts to the left of the screen the same as an OEM reverse camera. I will come back and re-edit this tomorrow and resize pics as it's getting late. I'll tidy up any errors as I see them so please don't jump on me straight away!
  10. The onset of the nice weather appears to have brought with it a decent sunset this evening
  11. given its a camera on ab android.. im happy with this.. sitting on the wheel of me bike in the shed last week, i was gonna give the chain gear a quick clean and oil but left this lad to it instead and this guy out being a busy bee (literally) the next day on Spud sr's Cosmos
  12. Bonnie Scotland. (During Lock Down, Ski Centres closed to anyone other than from that Region)
  13. For those of us interested in time lines, once the car arrives at the port in Emden its taking 15 - 20 days to get onto the ship according to Skoda.
  14. 'we' have up to 20,000 miles / 24 months, which ever comes first of Variable / Flexible.
  15. You can crawl along at walking pace with Autohold enabled and Stop / Start switched off. Autohold only comes on when you press the brake harder when stopped, light touch enough to stop or slow the car does not have it apply the brakes to hold the car automatically with no foot on the brake pedal or e-Brake applied.
  16. For what it's worth, the ride in my vrs petrol with no DCC is fine on normal on crap UK roads... But only once I removed the transport blocks!
  17. That is very different. It is not the Volkswagen Groups policy to have drivers ignore warnings. This is a Dealership you are talking to Their employees error. They can pay to have your car serviced in September then for being useless. Or just reset it now and give you a discount at the next service. You would think this is not their full time job and they service hundreds of cars a year. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/452545-resetting-service-indicator http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/450115-reset-service-message-fabia-3 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/480144-resetting-inspection-warning--on-66-plate-y17-fabia
  18. Agree it lacked excitement. Nieuw Zandvoort is more of a go-kart track than F1. At least it went ahead, Some favourite circuits due soon have cancelled, Singapore, Suzuka, Melbourne, Istanbul?
  19. Not via the menus. Safety regs, same as why they all default to Normal driving mode. I believe it is so anyone else getting in and driving the vehicle after you is not met with any surprises, i.e. wanting the car to use lane control and finding out (to their cost!) that someone else has turned it off.
  20. As I put before YOU CAN change the date of your MoT - you could go out this afternoon and get an MoT. The MoT is NOT a health check, but it is a check that the car meets a minimum roadworthy condition, mainly to one trained person's point of view at that one point in time, anything could happen at any point after this that might or would reverse the decision. For decades many people have misunderstood and put too much faith in a car having an MoT. The condition and terms of a car being sold or purchased is up to the seller and purchaser, it takes two parties to make the contract. Mostly the sellers don't want to service the car "between services" because of the cost and buyers don't want to contribute to that extra cost because they only want to stick to the servicing schedule. The MoT and servicing don't need to be done together, it may be more convenient but not necessary, you could go out this afternoon and get an MoT, and the vehicle may need servicing before or after an MoT for many reasons, harsh use, large additional mileage. Surely you want your car to pass an MoT at any point without the need for servicing at that point. Sorry but you've lost me here, you put the car was last fully serviced in February 2020 so surely it's overdue a service, why would the dealership want to change that notice, if anything happened to the car until you decided to get it serviced you may want to blame them for it. Do I understand correctly that you want to leave servicing the car and Moting the car until Feb 22? ETA: AFAIK, others might know differently, you can just leave the reminder showing until the next service it won't do anything other than remind you, a mate's done this for years on his car.

Sounds promising! Does your car now remember the climate sync?
  22. It's actually 66 sizes, not 107 sizes as shown below. However, the CrossClimate 2 is often available in more than one version of each size such as different speed ratings and load indexes making a total of 107 different versions: 15" Michelin CrossClimate 2 (7 Sizes) 175/65 185/60 185/65 195/55 195/60 195/65 205/60 16" Michelin CrossClimate 2 (18 Sizes) 185/50 185/55 195/45 195/50 195/55 195/60 195/65 205/45 205/50 205/55 205/60 215/45 215/55 215/60 215/65 225/50 225/55 225/60 17" Michelin CrossClimate 2 (16 Sizes) 205/45 205/50 205/55 215/40 215/45 215/50 215/55 215/60 215/65 225/45 225/50 225/55 225/60 235/45 235/55 245/45 18" Michelin CrossClimate 2 (12 Sizes) 215/40 225/40 225/45 235/40 235/45 235/50 235/55 235/60 245/40 245/45 255/45 265/35 19" Michelin CrossClimate 2 (11 Sizes) 205/55 225/40 235/40 235/45 235/50 235/55 245/35 245/40 245/45 255/35 255/40 20" Michelin CrossClimate 2 (2 Sizes) 195/55 275/45
  23. It looks like there's a map in progress/under development as we speak. I've just had my ECU plugged in so that they can check the type/version and it matches basically all of the current gen VW/Audi ECUs.
  24. Oh dear.......😂😂😂
  25. Very nice, the light output is fantastic on full beam.

No it hasn't. Superb had Business Grey and Quartz Grey which are both different colour codes. The actual cars that got Graphite Grey before Octavia are the new facelifted Kodiaq and Fabia. https://www.skoda-auto.com/models/range/kodiaq
  27. So, i was able to get up and out on Saturday morning, and tackled long hill again, but.. i took a ledt at the top and spun out the Northern, lower bit that i can see from my house. it was a nice little detour, longer than i expected, and from the total climb stat more extra incline than i thought to get back up to the peak to head for home. my house is down there... somewhere the detour is from the top of the hill to the right where the teail winds up, out the start of the big gradient to the left. that hill poking out dead centre from the shed then, my MIL arrived and said she wanted to bring Spud sr for a walk , but he could cycle, in the woods on "a trail thats very flat" so i went too, and brought Jr in the ergobaby carrier, as i didnt want nanny struggling with Sr on his bike solo, if he was too fast or whatever. it was not flat! i logged the way back out, spud struggled to hold the brakes on the downhills, and had to push his single gear bike back up most of it... i was melted carrying jr to the point of needing fresh jocks when i got home... never again
  28. On an Elegance as pictured there's only one faceplate applicable.
  29. Thanks George, I remembered you mentioning this before. I did check ATS as well as many others. And to be fair, had I used them I could have saved myself a penny a tyre. But I've decided to be frivolous! Gaz
  30. You are correct. I have no plan, just free account but most of the adaptations are free. Just Video in Motion and Emergency Assist are 10 and 5 euros but I didn't needed them. https://vctool.app/available-presets/?model=Skoda Octavia A8&culture=en-US

Absolutely. It's a joke most places only advertise the total power, treating consumers like dumb dumb. Whereas max current at which voltage is more important. So many cars are advertised as 100kW or even 150kW whereas that's on 400v and relies on liquid cooled cable delivering super high current. I guess GridServe are using simpler thick cables and provides limited current to keep temperature in check.
  32. The Gridserve replacement of Ecotricity chargers has slowed down quite noticeably. It seems unlikely that they will hit the target of replacing all the old charger with the new ones by the end of this month. There has also been moans about reliability of the new chargers on Twitter and Zap-map. I hope these are teething troubles. I found out something interesting about the new Gridserve chargers going in on the Electric Highway network (mainly on motorways). They are advertised as 120kW chargers, but can only achieve this on 800V cars. The rest of us mere mortals will have to put up with 60kW. There is more to charging speeds than the headline speed. I also saw the same issue on another MFG's high speed chargers, 160kW for 800V but 'only' 80kW for normal 400V cars.

On that subject, I found out something interesting about the new Gridserve chargers going in to replace the ageing Ecotricity ones on the Electric Highway network (mainly on motorways). They are advertised as 120kW chargers, but can only achieve this on 800V cars. The rest of us mere mortals will have to put up with 60kW. Bit of a derail, but there is more to charging speeds than the headline speed. (I also saw the same issue on another network's high speed chargers but cannot remember which one)* *I remembered, it is on Motor Fuel Group's new high speed chargers, specifically at their new hub in Stretford. The headline speed is 160kW but the small print on the charger shows 80kW at 400V.
  34. I can't see any obvious reason for this, although it's quite normal for ESP (or ASR) to flash if you accelerate hard in a tight turn or on a split mu surface.
  35. missing a couple of updates... so, Wed was a normal rest day, nothing but... swmbo had another medical consultation appointment on Tuesday about some of the ongoing longer term fall out from spud jr pregnancy... 19months later, and still suffering bull****. outcome of that was being put on the cancellation list for a procedure to hopefully sort a couple of them out. she got home at 4pm, and got a call at 430 - slot available thurday morning, but she had to go for Pre-Op assessment on Wednesday.. i said do it.. dont put it off, itll be grand. she has already put this off a couole of times to try other solutions as she out of the blue developed a random phobia of the gen anaesthetic, convinced herself shed go to sleep and wouldnt wake up, she'd just be dead. so after a stressful couple of days involving much convincing that sge wasnt going to die on the table, my Thur and fri morning cycles were cancelled, as she had to be gone before 7am on wed and thur. procedure was fine, shes still tired and sore after it but gone to work today 🤞but i stayed home friday morning too to make sure she was alright which want easy.. shes the worlds worst patient and geumpy when not 100%
  36. My mk3 does that but you can alter the volume of the sensors in settings. Whether that doesn’t affect the music I don’t know!
  37. CrossClimate+ have been superseded by crossclimate2 Why buy the older version ? There is a comparison here https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/Michelin-CrossClimate-2-VS-Michelin-CrossClimate.htm
  38. It'll need the security code, yes. But as he fitted it in the Roomster initially I presume this is available.
  39. 👋 Here! Hope you're doing well @SashaGrace. Nothing new on your Mk3? Not seen this thread on the 1st page for a looong time.
  40. What do you think about this project? http://ok2jnj.ok2kld.cz/ok2jnj/cs/2014/12/mikropocitac-ve-favoritu/ It's complete with circuit board blueprints and source files for the controller IC. Ready to be built. Google translate:
  41. 300+ (yes a massive 302 in fact) is a handful from launch - hard not to trip the diff with wheelspin, but once on the move its a great shove in the back when you hit it. I'd still do the chip thing it if I could because I like to be able to give it some now and again. If you're doing 70 on the motorway and some idiot is too close as soon as the traffic opens up you can just leave them unless they are driving a very fast car. I think the fact its a Skoda doing it is more of an annoyance to the panzer wagon drivers than anything else.
  42. The GTI has now done 16.5k miles and it's definitely time to change the fronts. I've decided to go for Crossclimate+ and am having all four changed on Tuesday. I really don't get some tyre places. I've bought them from local independent, who are now part of a chain. They quoted me £13 more per tyre than their online price, with the same date, time and place. And confirmed they couldn't match their own online price 🤔 So I ordered them online, on their own website, and am not giving them £52 for no apparent reason. Gaz
  43. The size of the caliper and how many pistons it has won’t effect brake fade. it will be the size of the disc, cooling capabilities and quality of discs and pads.
  44. Most control modules report their part number during an autoscan 👍
  45. Brush & then smooth over..this after the primer & before the top coat.... Look around 4:29 here on the factory film of the MK7 Golf being built. HOW IT'S MADE: Volkswagen VW Golf 7 Car Factory Production Plant [GOMMEBLOG] - YouTube
  46. So ask them, it's no use acting like a naughty puppy, if the motor trade sense weakness they'll go in hard and dry...
  47. Picked up my new SE L 2.0TSi today after waiting since February. Has a built in tow bar which is very neat, usb-c in the rear view mirror and wireless charging. It replaces a 2016 diesel SE L of the same colour so many won't notice the difference, but I will!
  48. Surely not when on standby after not moving key for 15 mins? I keep mine in cupboard unless actually using car
