  1. But at least Phutters drives a Skoda... 🤭

This is a complete misunderstanding of the law, as a consumer you have rights, and they are completely separate to any commercial (business) relationship between a dealer and Skoda. You do not have to feel sorry for a dealer because the commercial contract will have clauses regarding processes and remedies. The consumer law is quite clear, about satisfactory standards, if there is a fault or something doesn’t work properly, the dealer gets a chance to rectify (one go, not multiple attempts). If you list 3 faults and they only fix 2 then you can reject the car. If all the faults not fixed then when you go to collect can reject and not even take it home. Upon rejection you can have instant refund (via card machine on the desk, or bank transfer etc). No need for dealer to discuss with Skoda. Dealer has separate contract under which they can deal with Skoda. If they don’t like it they are able to be a dealer for different brand. None of your concern. The person above who has given their dealer multiple chances to fix the same problem is probably being laughed at by the dealer for letting them get away with it.

Went to scratch my electric itch the other day thanks to rainworths for the loan of a Enyaq 60 in loft. Nice damp /raining day so found it quite good fun, in a don't stack it kind of way. Definitely feel the electric car is made for A/B roads and less so motorways. In that sense I'm sold. It's more than good enough for all my local, regional needs. Do I need it to be so big, no. I don't need the superb either. Octavia is fine, fabia estate would be sweet too. So a e208/, id3, born should be considered even a leaf... capping at 200miles real range logic. I'm still wary on the longer 'special' trips eg 'popping' up to Scotland for a long weekend. 1k round trip. I've been planning my superb drives as if it were electric, I can see the charging wait work. Although a few times found charges in use and a queue. A1M/A66. I guess being canny one would stop just before a 'hotspot'. Or stop often but for less time. If stacked/broken carry on... kind of the never halve less than half a tank in the highlands logic. Having popped the superb to the local tesco's for her fill up, it's been a while, and hitting the card limit I was more than resolved to decide something this year. Partly as the trade in offer on the super at the moment nets me at 140quid a month deprecation from what I paid in Aug 19. 3yrs old in March. However a quick bit of research, with other deals eg peugeot, kia, most of them popped another grand on the value and more discount to boot. I can play harder ball of course, if I want a enyaq... So now I'm torn, the enyaq, never thought I'd like a SUV. I actually fell out of it, mis judged the step height and ... I caught myself. So I'm really torn. The bigger the car; anything more than the fabia size needs a drive adjustment to fit. So that's a few physio trips to sort my back to add in That and lots of options/models will be coming in the next 6 months, perhaps some that fit between small city only and inter city... In part I just want to PCP a bog standard one for a few years, ride out the technology shifting phase. Heck might even see hydrogen in 5 to 10. In part just keep the superb, swallow the fuel cost, it nets out while I'm not doing much mileage vs high monthly pcp ( I paid cash for the superb on a 10yr plan in Aug 19 ) Timing eh Also tor on mileage caps for pcp. Never had to think about it and feel I'd be restricted. That said SWMO has an unlimited focus lease so south of france in yr 3 with 500miles left on allowance is still doable. Or the other side of the tear in my mind is the superb owes me little as in I spent the cash, and I can drop 100 quid in her and go 400miles. maybe 450 if I take it out of sport and use the eco setting on the magic throttle pedal box instead of sport+1 at junctions So existing car, new car costs, ongoing costs who knows maybe in three years I'd still get a good price and keep the 140 quid a month depreciation curve. Doubtful I know. So all in all, I liked the enyaq, I kind of hoped I'd hate it to finish the itch. Now I find myself really trying to reconcile the man maths... I'm not drawn to it like I was the 270+ superb as a motor to go and have a drive in... but if I truly wanted that I'd have a GTi or GR Yaris... Neither of which would be on my drive come sun up. So I just want to get from A to B well, with minimal hassle and truth be known because I can do something about my impact in the environment buy a brand new car lol... I just can't make sense of the voices inside my head. Anyway, nothing really to add.... Maybe see you at a charging point in March/April... but what will I be driving. Open to thoughts others may have or have had, outcomes, regrets, joy etc
  4. Found this interesting... https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0011wn5 well more challenging than interesting. I think the fact people get screwed over by big corps is well known.
  5. Well that was dramatic! If you haven't seen qually catch it on C4 from 840 tonight.
  6. Telephoned Vindis Skoda Service Centre Cambridge yesterday to ask if they would change the rear springs at the service on Wednesday.... no sorry, can only fit the same part number. However, parts were a little more helpful. I have AD's, they are going to order AF's for me to collect at the service. Ordered helper springs from Mad Suspensions and Quattro-tech Cambridge will fit both on Thursday or Friday. Will let everyone know how it goes.
  7. Thanks to all for info and advice. I now know what is involved and could probably do it myself. But am fully committed to getting my Austin 7 Nippy special rebuild finished for the Austin 7 Centenary celebrations in July 2022 so no work time to do anything else. Yeti will have to wait till I can take to local garage to do the job.
  8. Hi Quick search of such threads Part number 7P0810773F @varaderoguy, its not that hard if the OP can still open it. Fitting is very easy open fuel flap remove just the one torx screw and you can wriggle the hole unit out from the filler neck, and actuator simply pulls off. you can break off the two little tabs from the actuator if you need to wait for parts but then the fuel flap will not lock.. regards
  9. Just had mine in for software updates and they acknowledged there is an issue with the ACC but no fix as yet.
  10. 2 points
Its a difficult one, its seems that there are so manny issues, and worryingly there seems no consistency on which software/firmware gets what faults that its totally hit and miss. I think my dealer is part of the problem beciause they have no interest in looking or fixing the faults (one simple, one intermitent) and are now covering their a***es because they forgot to look at one of the faults. If you have a good dealer go for it, eventually i am confident it will all get srted, I genuinely think its software issues but there is a lack of interest in fixing them until it hits the headlines via an accident or sadly even worse a serious injury.
  11. I think that's a given - VAG have to have an obvious differentiation between their different marques. Compared to my previous Audi A4 Avant (actually and RS4) the Octavia Combi had much more rear passenger space and boot space but much louder road noise.
  12. One of my biggest gripes with my VRS was the road noise (didn't stop me buying two though!!). My mate had a 1.5 golf something or other that was probably a bit cheaper than my octavia but even though it was fairly base model it was quieter and better finished. Im not an owner any more but other than the noise and waiting for something to go wrong I didnt have a lot of complaints. Biggest overall was the rising cost of the cars, the feeling you were always compromising and the issues with the mk4. The last of those made me jump off the roundabout of PCP and go to older cars instead while the going was good 👍

Mine has heated and electric on it which is why I thought the vrs replacements would be okay.
  14. Just clicked the link, clicked check my car, entered VIN and it says "this car is not affected."
  15. Alloys booked in for next week, and new centre caps sourced and ordered.
  16. J.R, it was humour, referencing how you'd be offended if it was suggested you'd make a mistake, of tightening the the wheel bolt. You do however offend others easily, I don't know if you realise this and why you don't if not but I don't mind I like direct but your posts slide into bolshy sometimes, if offended was the wrong word I'll use whichever you want. I did explain why I'd put what I put, twice, and made an amendment if not the 'correction' you think is required, you however have yet to put your side expecting me to blindly follow what you tell me. I certainly agree with you it's not a well written book but the parts I highlighted seem very clear. As I don't whole agree with it I'm happy to alter to somfink like "it sez i'the buck", I am willing to compromise in the same way I willing to use that information in the way I did without believing in it 100%, the world and black and white there are shades of grey and colours. My initial and overall thoughts were the same as Trevor M's not a firm believe or 100% sure its wrong and not over bothered either way, I don't mind being wrong I'm very, very used to it. So c'mon J.R. where's you evidence, give me my understanding, I don't mind learning. Bloody silly bolts literally gave me backache now they're out to give me a migraine. (look away J.R. this smiley's not for you) 🤕

Electric heating, electric heating and adjustment or manual (probably unlikely on a VRS). Wiring is different on heated vs heated and electric adjustment. Had a heated/electrical adjustable knocked off my Mk.1 Elegance and fitted a just heated on which I had to modify the wiring.
  18. Howdy all. I left you lovely lot back in 2019 when I shopped my beloved diesel Octavia VRS in and went to the dark side with a Jaguar XE. Whilst rear wheel drive luxury was fun, the lack of any space, unusable rear seats and frankly shocking entertainment UI meant I longed for my Skoda. I recently found out I could hand it back to Jaguar and take the equity out of the car which gave me a lovely deposit to use on a second hand, petrol VRS 245 estate in red. I went to give it a once over today, filled in all the paperwork and will hopefully be picking it up next week. It's nice to be back!
  19. Thanks for the welcome. I’ll use the search function and seek it out 👍
  20. I have had that a few times too. The ACC was in control, yet it did not slow down fast enough to satisfy the requirements of the AEB stuff. And other times I felt that it was approaching too fast and I got on the brakes defensively since I didn't trust it to stop. Nor did I want any vehicle behind me to be unable to stop in time. It does not always drive like a good driver would, seeing the traffic in front stopping for the lights and getting off the accelerator and gradually breaking to a halt.
  21. It's been broken over 2 weeks now.. The new (genuine VAG) master cylinder arrived this morning. Now I have to either find a VAG friendly mobile mechanic to come fit it or work out how to get the car to my trusted spannerman - which is logistically problematic.
  22. @Nicholson do you know model number? Like 5Q0035819B? If not pls post VIN via PM.
  23. I got my Karoq 1.5 SE L TSi DSG at the beginning of October, and was concerned that there was a facelift on the way. But having seen this info, I'm not unhappy, as there is little change to the design or possibly even spec. My car has a lot of options on it, including virtual cockpit, electric driver seat with interior LED pack, winter pack (screen/steering wheel), paddles, 19" Crater wheels, Leather, heated rear seats, towbar prep & rough road package so not a lot wanting anyway 🙂
  24. We have the base level 1.4tsi estate mk3 released in Australia in 2014 with a low priced option addition for some necessary bits. It has a great engine, flexible, quiet, smooth, economical and more power than I am prepared to use to the full on public roads. The interior capacity is very efficient which gives it great flexibility for carrying people and/or lots other things. The car is currently quite noisy to drive because the tyres are worn with saw-toothing and nearly due for replacement, or it could be a bearing, but we will see which when the tyres are eventually replaced. It was interesting driving a hire Toyota Corolla sedan hybrid in our Northern Territories this September as it was incredibly noisy at speed (130 kph speed limit) on the very course tarmac their highways are coated with, we actually gave up trying to listen to music. It was far worse than our Octavia is on similar roads even with its worn tyres (or bearing). The Corolla experienced smooth tarmac it was quiet so it was purely road surface noise. The hybrid was surprisingly efficient, even at speed on the NT's relatively flat open roads where the EV could not contribute much, we averaged 4.25 L/100 (calculated from fuel used) over 2500km (66mpg). I would have expected to get about 50 mpg with the Octavia at similar speeds. I have looked at replacing the car but the base mk4 is sold here with the 1.4tsi and an 8 speed Aisin torque converter which does not appeal. Was very tempted with the local base Scala offering with the 1.5tsi and manual box at a competitive price, but it is smaller so I think we will just stick with our current low mileage vehicle until EV pricing becomes more attractive. There is a significant price increase moving up to the vRS (just RS here) and you do get better suspension, performance and brakes etc for the money so I guess the interior noise will be compared to far more expensive cars than what I compared with which may account for some of the dissatisfaction expressed on that aspect.
  25. So tested the brightness setting out and managed to resolve the issue, was at medium, changing to darker and then darkest made the noise worse, can confirm noise has stopped when on either Brighter or Brightest setting, so if it’s a component issue then it might in time get worse I guess, so thanks to all for the good posts on here, keep up the good work
  26. So even the chrome on the bonnet next to the badge is different?
  27. As well as any info you get from your thread here it might well be worth posting in the following thread with more details and perhaps pab567 can help you out with a fix (or even replacement?). -
  28. Yap, I think yes Thanks to you guys for all the help Anything I ping here .. However, I ordered the sensor map, just to give that help about at how it's new and such, and then I'll assemble it as soon as I arrive. I got it at a good price
  29. That a fair point. In my old Tiguan I had the electric seats and lumbar support and they were better. I feel your lumbar pain (quite literally).
  30. Although they were motorised on my Elegance I never adjusted them after the initial set, and someone took one out while parked so I fitted a heated but non motorised with the correct colour cap, moved the glass by hand when fitted - sorted. Heated is a definite advantage, but motorised - no. Think the motorised on the Ambiente does not counter the alloy wheels, better interior, leather steering wheel etc of the Bohemia. When they do get "clattered" it is generally the diecast mounting bracket that breaks so suggest regularly folding in/lubricating as there is a reduced chance of outcome only being a requirement to fold back out.

Hello from snowy South Bohemia. I've already gone and posted over in the Superb MK3 section with first reading the site instructions, so sorry about that, but I believe it's a 'man' thing not to read instructions first. So I'm not off to a good start here, please forgive me... Your humble vassal Skoti
  32. Yep I'm same but they still got clattered and have 2 shopping car park dinks I need to get out from idiots hitting doors off mine luckily I know the tricks for getting these out having eirked at a car plant I've been taught by body guys how to do them 😀
  33. I had a bit of trouble when I changed the remote battery several months ago. I just needed the contacts cleaning and pulling out a bit so they gripped tight on the battery a bit more. As said above, check for a red light on the fob. No light = no power. A light and the car doesn't recognise it means you need to reprogram it to the car. There is a section in the owners manual which explains how to do this. No VCDS involved. I wouldn't just go and buy a fob. Be a hassle getting one and then having to get it cut.
  34. Generalisations now - the thing is when you own something like a Honda you have no idea how good it is unless you have something to compare it with. But the Honda Jazz you could buy in 2019 probably wouldn't be as trouble free as your 2003 model because of the many electronic and parts 'improvements'. Then you have to compare the 2019 new price of the Fabia to the Jazz. Put up a thread about the start/stop issues as that might be a simple fix, being a Honda owner you're probably only used to servicing and "issues".
  35. Thank you. Without wanting to drift even further off course, we only found out how intact Mrs Phutters' dad's B17 was after it fell to earth by itself courtesy of a Belgian bloke who got in contact with Mrs Phutters' sister, who lives in Tennessee. Seems like he was doing some research off his own bat - for whatever reason - and managed to find a photograph of the plane on the ground which he'd e-mailed to her. It looked for all the world like a rough belly-landing rather than the result of a 27 tonne sycamore seed falling from 20,000 feet. Different times indeed...
  36. Sorry nonsense, regardless of where the bolts are manufactured and by whom, if they are to the design and purchase spec, and they should be or the QA dept and the goods-in testing departments should be fired if not then its really unlikely to make a jot of a difference where they are manufactured or sourced from.
  37. Bedlington member here wishing you seasons greetings and welcome to the forum ☃️
  38. Hmmm, as already said, the air filter is probably a consequence not a cause, and even if it's 'dirty' the engine should start (it does not suck much air for idling). Could still be an immobilizer issue - I'm not certain if it's the ignition that is blocked, or whether the engine stater motor is also blocked, if the car is in an immobilised state. Try what I said above. Do you have an OBD dongle to check any fault codes ?
  39. No problems, I was severely sight impaired when I did the job, I was working by feel and instinct. The difficulty with the hook is refitting it, the screw can easily get pushed out and fall behind the trim, hold the screw in place with a screwdriver while offering up the hook correctly aligned.
  40. Stern performance rear seat delete kit fitted
  41. I'll stick to this infotainment, methinks...
  42. I collect my 60 iv December 1st, I'm exited, anyone got a 3 pin cable they want to flog cheap? as I'm without a home charger until January 26 next year🥴
  43. Despite being all very clever, the base setting of my Matrix LED headlights was a tad too high for my liking - good for owl watching... One turn of the white knob at the rear of each headlamp unit has lowered them just the right amount (it is marked 'up' and 'down'). With apologies for the grubby state of the light unit.... PS Kumho tyres worked just fine in the snow and ice this morning....
  44. No, red is better. Black is beautiful for about five minutes after each cleaning. (Nice photoshop job.)
  45. So first month or so of ownership complete. We bought our mk3 estate due to a baby on the way and having a large dog. The superb being the best wagon out there it was a no brainier really. I’ve always been a bit of a car snob in terms of wanting rare and unique cars. Our other car is a DS5 which I love however they messed up putting such hard suspension on it. That’s now the commuter for whoever’s at work that day. Previous to that I’ve had Alfa GT coupe v6, Z4 M coupe and a raft of Volvos. I have to say the superb is the best car I’ve had. It’s the mix of comfort and the technology that just suit exactly what we need. There is no compromise. Had my first long trip Thursday. A flying visit to South Wales and back from Cambridge in a day. This is my first car with radar cruise and what a difference it makes to getting tired. Takes so much stress away just leaning on the tech to look after you. I’ve always tongue in cheek made fun of VAG group cars, mainly the why would you buy a Audi Q5 when Skoda do the same underpinnings for less kind of thing. But I think having the Superb is the best balance to that as it’s the best value on this chassis but I don’t feel like I’ve lost any luxury at all. It’s certainly better built than my Z4 M coupe. This forum has been great as well. The Z4 forum was great but most others are very hit and miss. The Superb section on this forum is bursting compared to the other models and you’re all very knowledgeable. Baby was born on Sunday and hopefully coming out of hospital soon after a few little scares. And we can get Jenson the dog in with him. Cars been nicknamed JBP (Jenson Baby Palace) due to the palatial size of the thing. Perfect family car is ready to go.
  46. Yeah...fist time is a real pain in the arse.... TAXI....!!!!!!!....

I picked mine up in Huddersfield this morning. They have a test drive model available
  48. It's the perfect control of wheel that makes it so good. As long as there's a tiny bit of grip, the EV can crawl by moving the wheel VERY VERY slowly. No electronics or clutch messing up the grip, your input is directly translated to the motor which is always connected to the wheel. I have Crossclimate on my Skoda diesel because I was stuck in snow in 2017/18 winter. Although different location, the Leaf in budget summer tyres were able to slowly drive up slopes other cars cannot. Then there's idling. TeslaBjorn recently did a video showing Model 3 can maintain comfortable temperature in the car for almost 70 hours at -3c. If the car uses 0.7/hr in fuel, the Skoda Octavia can only idle 64 hours with 45 litre of fuel. Also got to remember with EV, you can turn off the car and turn back on when needing heat, whereas if you do it with ICE cars, you need to wait for engine to warm up, wasting fuel.
