  1. So, my recovery has been a little two steps forward, one step backward since I got home. In all fairness, this is completely my fault as I’m a determined little bugger who won’t sit still. Plus, the weather has been mostly great and just wanna be out in the fresh air and sun! The first day I was discharged, as you all know, I went straight to the pub(!) Zee drove us there and all I had to do was sit and talk lots to the staff. This first day conversations were hard as I simply couldn’t talk much. Despite this, I still managed a 40 minute chat with my mum on the phone that evening. Would have probably only taken you guys about 5 minutes to say the same things, but hey! Next day was the start of gaining some sort of mobility back. Up to this point I had managed to walk up and down the ward corridor, probably about 75 meters in total. I live in a 3-story townhouse and really struggled getting up the first flight of stairs on day one and had to stop a couple of times. By day two I could manage the entire first flight in one go Went up and down these a few times during the course of the day, ensuring that I had rest between. Holding a conversation is now much easier, but still needing to pause for breaths. Day 3, which was yesterday, I decided I was going to walk to my local. This was always a short-term goal and wanted to achieve this by Monday (tomorrow) as Zee is back to work and I might get bored 😇 Although I had to stop on the way there (it’s technically uphill from my house) it’s a good 540 meters door to door according to Google maps. Good progress. Chilled in the sun for a few hours, had some decent pub-grub then walked home in one go ready to watch the FA cup final. As I said at the start of this post, two steps forward, one step back ….. sleeping at night has been difficult to say the least. I’m not having much problem getting to sleep as I’m on strong paracetamol throughout the day, but after 4 hours of being led down to sleep and the meds wearing off I am woken by the discomfort 😞 Not managed more than 4 hours in on go…. But no change there really as it’s been like this since 2015 op, but now with my lungs hurting. Zee is adamant that it’s ‘cos I’ve been pushing myself too far this early. She might me right, but no pain no gain as they say!! Today I’ve promised Zee that we’ll stay at home today as it’s meant to be raining, according to my weather app, but the sky is showing me something different at the minute …… I must be good and stick to my promise!!
  2. Lovely 👍 My mum just gave you a donation as she thinks you're amazing
  3. You and Zee are it’s right, I do need to wind myself in. I don’t find it easy relying on other people, even my wife. I’ve been a good boy today and some exactly as I’ve said…. Been watching movies all day, with a little visit from my fury bestie, Maple, which was awesome as not seen her for a few weeks, obviously! Got the doctors at 8:20am to get my INR checked for the first time since discharge on Thursday 😱 Gonna see if there’s any way that I can somehow manage to convince them to give me a blood check machine much the same as diabetics use, but to check my INR levels. Not hopeful though.
  4. One of those ones that only happens once. Put away again for the night on that mileage, not bad for a 2013 lol
  5. just rounded it off to the nearest 100 when i checked it out. i likes an even number
  6. Ken, I assume you couldn’t have read very well as a cannula is used for an INR check. No one will be taking blood out through my manhood!
  7. All three DSG's I've got/had have been both superb and faultless. I've a mate with an A5 that's got the CVT box, and the DSG's are far better IMO. If it's a 2.0 Diesel from that era, it'll have the DQ250 six speed wet clutch DSG, that should have services at 40k intervals. This is the better DSG in my opinion, although the DQ200 in our Polo GTI has also been spot on (a 1.6 diesel will have this DQ200 seven speed dry clutch unit). The DQ200 doesn't have a service schedule - it's worth doing a bit of background reading on this box, although by 2017 most of the early wrinkles were ironed out. I think it's arguable as to whether manual is '..the safest way to go'. Gaz
  8. Dear Pete , Much appreciated, you had already spend lot of time & taught great diagnostic approach & helped me ,Thanks you so much for all, I can imagine that u have also limit and even same here, cannot do any more beyond my control, I had already given up spoken to few electricals experts for next week appointments , I think after changing advised part, car will go to electricians & hopefully they would be able to look further. You have given me many good pointers and Thank you so much for that as well. I shall update complete info so that it can help others generally people don't update solution once their car issues are resolved. Stay blessed and please keep sharing ur knowledge and helping Skoda owners and also saving planet. U deserved a champagne bottle and thank you card. Thanks Kind Regards raky
  9. I can't help you any more I'm sorry to say Raky. I don't have enough time.
  10. Why not say a Mk4? So much simpler for us non technical bods.
  11. Agreed with the diagnosis that if it is present in all gears and not just the intermediate gears then it rules out the layshaft bearings and first motion shaft but what makes you believe that the noise is coming from the gearbox and not the differential?
  12. HI Sorry all, its a 2017 Yeti 2.0tdi 4x4..
  13. I reckon it’ll for cooling it when the AirCon is on. You can select the level of chilling in the glovebox - ideal for that bottle of fizz for the picnic on the beach 😊
  14. Volvo 343, watch at 0:23 with cows.
  15. 3M VHB tape. Available in various applications, colours and widths. Be careful where you buy it from there is a lot of fake stuff out there.
  16. I have a complete set of unused Yeti Tour de France accessories, to include seat covers, internal bike carrier carrier, boot netting and cycle wheel covers. Bargain at £40 Collection only from North Nottinghamshire area (will travel a reasonable distance to meet etc)
  17. No need to catheterise my own veins. Where on earth did you get that from? Not sure what you’ve been reading, but what I know is that the INR can be done in an almost identical way as people with diabetes. Ie a finger pr1ck to get blood, which is then absorbed by the INR test strips and put into the machine….. https://coaguchek.roche.com
  18. Absolutely essential you do, please 🥰
  19. I think there is something in what Zee is saying, that you need to be careful of pushing yourself too hard. It's amazing that you are even able to do these things so early. Don't be too naughty though 😁
  20. A couple of visitors to the garden
  21. That's great. Really made my day. 🤣 I really enjoy watching those 80s and 90s commercials. Looks like SAAB invested lots of time and effort for that commercial. Back in 80s and 90s another great way to sell your cars was winning rallies. That's what Škoda invested in. Did you know that 1994 FIA 2-Litre World Rally Cup champion was a Favorit 136L ? (With its 1.3 8V engine!) Competed against cars like: - Opel Astra GSi 16V - Volkswagen Golf III GTi 16V - Opel Kadett GSI 16V - Renault Clio Williams - Nissan Sunny GTi - Hyundai Lantra - Honda Civic - Seat Ibiza GTi 16V - Ford Escort RS 2000 MKV ... and won! Holy cow! Also Favorit's favorite Rally was Acropolis rally. 😃 One of my most liked rally and it's tough. Škoda team won Acropolis Rally with Favorit in two consecutive years 93' and 94'.
  22. ETA: dash temperature gauge is set to show 90 even though the real temperature might be within a range around 90, this is to save drivers worrying about the exact temperature and possible normal fluctuations.
  23. Hello and welcome Mike Gaz
  24. How it works normally without aiding it is that it churns away doing it 20 minutes after you close the door with ignition off, then stops, it has a restart point, then will restart from there. The whole process is ~40 minutes but with restore points can be longer since it restarts from where it got to when it dropped the restart point. You can cheat by opening the ďoor and closing it before the 20 minutes is up. 20 minutes is the power down, the normal one when the radio / music stops if sitting in the car. Some people say you can leave the door open, never tried that. Most people just drive to work without navigation and get the ~ 40 minutes one way or another. I use the SWDL menu since I like to get it done and see the stages. You must open and close the door every 15 minutes on that, 5 mins leeway. No restore point, you have to start again if it looses power. One of these days I may do it the normal way 🙄.
  25. Well, if it does turn out to be a clogged inlet manifold, please do let me know. Alan.

    Hello HJL, welcome along Gaz
  27. After much playing with & checking wires eventually it became almost imposible to start the car & a mechanic friend had a quick look & said it was the solenoid not completely engaging so I got the starter changed & that fixed it straght away. Thanks for all you help on this.
  28. +1 for 3M VHB, I’ve used the clear version to hold my dashcam to the screen.
  29. I’ve not got my Kamiq yet but I presume it does the same as in my Golf. It controls how much, if any, air is ducted to the glovebox from the aircon. Handy for keeping a bottle/can cold.
  30. I had been trying to walk past them to get back to the car to go down the farm road and they kept running on till they were nearly back in the village, Lee. I eventually had to try and sprint past the wee sods so that they'd run the other way.
  31. Hi thanks for the replies I’ve (and brother) have checked all bushes this morning all seem ok ( milage in 80k’s) But since it’s sitting with all wheels off and booked in on Thursday for tracking I decided to clean threads up etc on track rods. i discovered the locking nuts on either side were seized solid. We have spent ages getting them free and cleaned all threads up so everything moves easily Now thinking the tracking has never been done right So hopefully find out Thursday
  32. Mine is generally around 35mpg. I can get to 40mpg if I'm being careful. However why on earth would you buy a petrol vrs if fuel economy was a high priority.
  33. Bluebells in the local woods (taken on a phone so not the best quality)
  34. Glad to see you may have got to the bottom of the issue. I was also surprised just to see how disruptive a failed ABS sensor can be (or associated cable).... especially leading to battery problems, reversing sensors and starting issues etc etc
  35. Monday nights run destinati same location last night, same time, around 9pm looking east looking west.. looking north east with Slievenamon in the distance not bad for a mid range camera phone..

I've had this for a year (forgot to cancel after 1st month), and whilst it is very useful for resetting errors and starting a DPF regen, those require a subscription. My subscription has now lapsed, and it's pretty useless with even engine module faults greyed out so you can't identify them, and no access to forced regens or adaptations. I leave mine in the OBD socket these days simply to monitor the DPF via the VAG DPF app.
  37. Can you see your 18" rims in the list below? Being RS alloy rims, I suspect it's the Zenith rims. They come in two colours. Colour code 7ZS is chrome coloured metallic, and colour code MHB is black/bright chrome. The OEM part number should be cast into the back of the rim, or sometimes the front if there's a big hub cap covering the front area. When you sell OEM alloy rims on ebay (or elsewhere) it's important to list the alloy rims with the full OEM part number in the title, such as 1Z0601025M 7ZS. Potential buyers will search using that code, usually without the 3-digit colour code...although that's also useful to include. Ebay is filled with professional sellers when it comes to secondhand OEM alloy rims. Prices are often surprisingly high, especially when you consider that many of them are not in particularly good cosmetic condition. Many of the rims that have had low profile tyres fitted will be bent, although the sellers won't often know this...especially if the rims have come from a car that was broken for spares. For a seller to know that a rim is bent, they would have to have the tyre removed and the rim spun on a tyre/rim machine that has the capability to check for out of round, buckled, or out of balance rim. Many sellers will sell one rim at a time, such is the demand for single rims...due to the large number of potholes on the roads, or if the rim has been badly kerbed, etc. OEM 18" Octavia MK2 alloy rims ZENITH (RS) 7.5Jx18 ET51 1Z0601025M 7ZS 1 1Z0 601 025 M aluminium rim 7,5JX18 ET51 4 ZENITH (RS) 1Z0601025M 7ZS chrome coloured metallic 2011.08 - 2005.09 ZENITH 7.5Jx18 ET51 6U0601151L MHB 2 6U0 601 151 L hub cap 4 6U0601151L MHB black/bright chrome 2011.08 - 2006.13 NEPTUNE 7.5Jx18 ET51 1Z0601025AD 7ZS 3 1Z0 601 025 AD aluminium rim 7,5JX18" ET51 4 NEPTUNE 1Z0 601 025 AD7ZS chrome coloured metallic 2005.09 - 2006.13 NEPTUNE 7.5Jx18 ET51 1Z0601025AJ JX2 (3) 1Z0 601 025 AJ aluminium rim 7,5JX18" ET51 4 NEPTUNE 1Z0 601 025 AJJX2 high chrome/black black PR-CB0 2002.12 - 2006.13 https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/octavia/oct/2012-663/6/601-601080/ Some of the best OEM alloy rims in the VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda group are Audi alloy rims...especially when they are a lightweight forged alloy design such as the 7Jx16 ET45 5/112 57.1 rim below. If 7Jx16 ET45 sounds familiar, it's because this is a standard size on the Superb MK2 and Yeti. One of the benefits of this 7Jx16 ET45 rim is the lightweight. At about 7.3kg it's very light for this size rim. Most are around 10kg or more in this size. Another benefit of this rim is that you can use a Skoda hub cap instead of the Audi one. This rim was used on 1999-2001 Audi A4 and 1998-2001 Audi A6 cars. 7Jx16 ET45 8D0601025K Z17 9 8D0 601 025 K aluminium rim 7 JX16H2 ET45 5/112 4 PR-C8Y 8D0601025K Z17 avus silver https://audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/audi+a4+avant/a4/2000-223/6/601-601060/ 7Jx16 ET45 8D0601025K Z17 (lightweight forged alloy rims (about 7.3kg) from some Audi A4 and Audi A6 cars)
  38. Sell it and buy an SUV like everyone else does? I think if you want a car that is not crashy over bad roads then you have the wrong car. 18's are horriby harsh. I've got 16's on my Elegance and standard suspension and that too makes me wince from time to time on bad roads. My wife has a Polo with tiny rims and balloon tyres and that absorbs potholes like a sponge. Wheels/tyres are the easiest/cheapest thing to change. Perhaps try and borrow a set of 16's and see if that makes it tolerable? No idea why car marketing has sold us all on big rims and low profile tyres. Looks nice. Rides horribly. Fine if we all have pan-flat EU funded tarmac, but we don't.
  39. As it's such a low torque figure and there is no specified sequence I don't think it really matters the sequence, just to do diagonally so yes you could use 8-1-4-6 5-3-2-7 ???
  40. Wouldn't that be undoing sequence, tightening sequence would be middle-outward, kinda opposite that @nige8021? I'd guess that it's really not critcial.
  41. Looking at the dealer workshop manual there is no specified pattern for the rocker cover bolts, only the torque of 9Nm so I would just use the normal diagonal clockwise like this 1-8-6-4 3-5-7-2

  43. 61k... the trip is what I've done in shy of a week. Ticked past 600 miles on the way home. Safe to say this week has been tiring! Still, 61k miles isn't bad for a car that'll be 16 years old this year.
  44. All done and working.
  45. Strip fuse 5, blade fuse 8 and blade fuse 11 are all involved in your car. Yes, if the fans work at low speed they should both come on when those contacts are linked, if everything else is OK. If they don't come on when you link 1 and 2, turn on the ignition (engine running or not, doesn't matter) then link contacts 1 & 3 instead. This should bring both fans on at full speed. Mind fingers/hands!
  46. Recently joined after getting a new Fabia Mk3 on lease for 2 years. Monte Carlo 1.0 turbo DSG. I love the colour. Really happy with it apart from no arm rest lol
  47. Here's the video. He's working on an Audi A6 but the procedure should be the same. It's a long video but very informative. I'm going to be doing my rear discs and pads after being quoted over £300 for new when I've just purchased Brembo discs and pads for £77, I already own OBDeleven and I've got access to all the tools required.
