  1. I would say it looks like Google translate is being used, @Pete_Ex-Wino
  2. Sloshing now resolved😁. A huge round of applause to everyone here at Briskoda who has offered me advice in finding and curing the sloshing noise in my Octavia. After your many suggestive remedies Mickvrs220 pinpointed the issue to my N/S rear door filling with water. Opening the door as usual didn't cause the sloshing sound, but moving it more quickly did. I pulled away the door seal at the bottom and I must have drained away about a pint - if not more. Case closed and many thanks again to you all.👍💯
  3. Check your rear doors their good at filling up with water ,move the seals at the bottom of door to drain them ,mines done it twice .
  4. Battery did indeed survive, even the green charge indicator was glowing a bright colour 😄 Quick once over yesterday before taking for MOT... 1 bloody dash bulb out for the LH indicator 🤬 6 screws for the plastic covers around the steering column to get to 3 screws that hold the dash and then a further 4 to get to circuit board and replace the bulb and then reverse.... Radio had stopped working so that came out to check an in-line fuse behind it, not that. Pull all the fuses and check on a board that's tucked away and is more by feel, not any of them.. 🤔 Then I remember 3 fuses in the boot, yep, one of the buggers gone 😄 Phone call today to say its passed so now we can go to LM24 and the Classic in it.... Nearly 5 weeks away and not much building work to be done as I can carry sweet FA... 😁 And I'm debating whether or not I can get my MTB back there on the rack 😂
  5. Sounds like you have a fuel leak somewhere under the car when it's running, that mileage is so terrible it must be pouring out somewhere because it would be smoking like a chimney if it were actually burning it!

assume = ASS of U and ME 🤕
  7. Have you asked for written proof including a copy of the scan? If they cannot provide it, or it does not list the central locking problem as a fault, then I think that you would have a good case in law. If there was a fault then why was it not dealt with before you bought the car?
  8. ^ I had a 1979 105S exactly like that only mine was beige in colour. Like this....
  9. Quick update. Noticed the TMC updates are now working again during my commute from night shift a few minutes ago.
  10. You are infact right , rear engine cars , are the best ever made , that's why i keep mine , and will never give it up. Today's traffic is not for them , but they are so lovely , from the moment you drive it!

Car dealer had some error in palce where must be date of delivery because i didn't have model year because. seem that was in middle of two model and they now confirm that i will get 2023 model year and not 2022. car i order 1.july 2021
  12. It's an Amundsen as the Columbus system does not use an SD card for the sat nav.
  13. As an aside it is a poor bit of design - not that turning off the RTA and BSM when plugging in a trailer isn’t sensible - it is! But when you unplug the trailer, switch off the car, restart again the next day, the RTA and BSM remain deactivated unless you remember to re-activate them. Which usually I don’t! One does tend to become accustomed to (aka somewhat rely on) these safety features and not getting eg the expected beeping when reversing out of a supermarket car park space into the path of another car, is … “disconcerting”!
  14. Not sure you are doing anything wrong, it could be a fault. The only time the rear traffic alert and blind spot monitoring (which in fact are the same bit of hardware) turn themselves off automatically is when you connect up a trailer, ie plug Into the tow bar socket (if you have one).
  15. Nah never tried them with standard springs. I’d imagine they would be better but still not that sharp.. I reckon with these it’s as sharp as my previous octavia with just H&R. Certainly a lot more compliant and less crashy. it was odd taking them off and going to standard shocks and springs when I sold the previous superb tho. Very boat like. Also driving the new one home was agin quite wafty lol. Really happy with set up now but the H&R anti toll bars are tempting me. Might seek a little more power with a sport cat down pipe and intercooler before I go with roll bar.

Hi all, i have a mk2 octavia vrs diesel, hoping to find this site useful when tackling faults and also interested any improvements other users can recommend. Regards
  17. I had a quick look now and yes OSF has the wiring. I actually plugged in the new pad and checked and the dash light went off just to test. Light came back on when I plugged the old pads back in and started the car, pressed the brake. I'll change the pads when I get the correct part for pushing the piston back. Cheers all.
  18. Try removing the blanking cover from the passenger side and seeing if the key will open that side, instead. Might be a simple "Fix".
  19. i thought it was just me seeing massive text have you checked all the vacuum and air lines for any spilts or cuts? it could be something is loose when cold and letting unmetered air into the mix but once it heats up the expansion seals the hole/gap.

Mine seems to be working today.

I saw this yesterday, it's not for Skoda but is very interesting. How come the front grill is 90% closed right at the air entrance? https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/how-come-the-front-grill-is-90-closed-right-at-the-air-entrance.52146/ and a relative video for Front grille and not only:
  22. Due to the hot climate here i am using my small motorcycle for the home->work->home routine and not the car. Meanwhile i manage to make 79Km in city traffic-mountain road (low-medium rpm only) and the results were very good but i have to wait till complete at least 100 Km so i can make a Gas Pump Station test. As for Cold Starts thing are one click betetr than Winter time but the external temperature is much higher and this helps a lot. it's too soon for an Iridium spark plug test, first i have to finish all the tests with the Platinum + NGK lambda and IF the results are very good then i will ''give them a try'' for few months just to have to say a thorough opinion about them.
  23. & mine on a mib2 high. Was a technical failure in the company that runs TMC in the UK. Similar to the one a couple of weeks back. Nothing to do with the map update.
  24. Here is a ''specific answer'', some techicians can do a refurbish job here but due to the low payment now the new guys usually say ''No, buy a new one''. The same happens for altenators, engine starters, solenoids etc, back in the Good Old Times the mechanic was giving a ''specific answer'' as ''I can do it, the cost is this but won't last for many years as a new one''. The ''specific answer'' from the driver (if he didn't had enough money) usually was ''Ok do it, i will take the risk'' or if he wanted to keep the car for long time and had the money to spend the ''specific answer'' in was ''Ok do you sell new ones?''.
  25. Well, its here! More orangey in brighter light!
  26. I'm not sure VCDS can do calibration for the seats... IIRC, there was an update for the seat controller and afterwards I had to use ODIS to perform the basic settings afterwards.
  27. '11 & '12 plates would have been an Octavia 2 which was a completely different design to a '14 plate Octavia 3. Owners who have switched from Octavia 2 to Octavia 3 have also commented that the road noise ('boom') is much worse on the Octavia 3, seems this is one consequence of the new lighter design.
  28. Hello PMFW4 Slippery little suckers will try to wriggle out of anything! I'd suggest talking to Trading Standards/Consumer Direct before taking any further action, and follow their advice. A known issue, developing into a fault, which then isn't covered by a warranty? What did it log, if there wasn't an issue. Shabby indeed 🙄 Gaz
  29. I have had the sounds of water sloshing inside door cavities even when they have not been blocked. Usually after it has rained or washed car and you first set off. There are baffles in the plastic fuel tank I believe but you can occasionally, hear some slosh from that as well at least I have in petrol models. In a quiet environment, when the car shows the trait, try to rock the car back and forth and listen from inside. maybe even back seat, that is closer to the fuel tank, above it...

TMC seems to be working again for me today
  31. Get under the car and you will see several black, rubber bungs running down the car. I would take a few of these off and see if there’s water trapped in there. Had what you’re describing on an older TT… removed a couple bungs and waited for the water to stop, eventually.
  32. To anyone following this thread - I complained to Skoda UK and after a few e-mails (and an escalation) my car was booked in for a software update - that was yesterday and it has been fixed! I have used it a few times since picking it up and each time it has remembered addresses and settings. Tested and working: Addresses/favourites saved. Last Journey details saved. Addresses sync from online (although there is a bug in their online system so I wouldn't spend much time on that!) Settings (such as traffic signs) saved. (Note: I do not know about the ACC lane/undertaking issue as I'm not even sure if I had that problem anyway). (I should add that they failed to address the two recall/notices outstanding on the car but this seems to be a general issue with parts and training - that should happen in a few weeks).
  33. Just wire the phone through a switched relay then you can place it anywhere in the car. As an aside, if my iPhone needs charging and I am away from home I will leave it plugged in the car overnight. I've not yet had a problem. tom
  34. Surely the charge needed for the phone is negligible compared to other parts of the car electrics which are always live? Any car will go flat after a few weeks standing. As long as it is driven occasionally it should be fine. Bigger risk is surely that leaving a phone plugged charging with a dead battery in it may catch fire as the battery degrades and overheats trying to charge?
  35. Money we’ll spent Mark. You’ll not regret it. I sold the diesel and brought at 272 and transferred the shocks over with some new H&R springs.. tis marvellous oh and had it mapped lol

Hi Martin. it seems very well put together and no squeaks or rattles really pleased with it so far although only done about 200 miles. Will be out playing at the weekend.
  37. When I want to find the real water temperature I use OBD11 not the dash gauge. Pump not working / pipes blocked / thermostat not working? Thanks, AG Falco
  38. If it were me I'd be checking the spare wheel well for water and then things like the sill drain holes if there are any
  39. Thank you MicMac After a bloody full day under there I got the ball joint replaced. The 3 nuts were locktite on so I had to angle grind through them 🤬 Anyway tho it is slow,an open ended 19 spanner can slowly work the top nut on the ball joint off for removal. So no,the driveshaft does not need to be removed for ball joint replacement. Had to re grease the squeaky as f**** polyurethane console bushes I fitted only 8 months ago. Never again for polyurethane for me. Took them out and coated in lithium grease, everywhere. Hope that helps someone in future.
  40. My car is build and waiting for a delivery 🙂
  41. Hi Damian, Thank you for your time. I'm happy to go for the ST 30mm suspension kit. I'll be in touch in the next day or two. Thanks again.

you read all the stories about our cars yet which ones are true and others are fairy tales?i would not believe anything skoda says .they have told so many lies how can anyone believe them?why just come out and say what the problem are at first it was micro chips then wiring looms then doors ,just wonder if and when they are going tell the truth/i dont know if i am thick but when you order things you go on a list then you wait your turn.sounds easy does it not but in skodas world common sense does not come into it.you would of thought when the parts come in they would complete the part built cars first but yet again not in skodas little world.a complete shambles and why have heads not come off at the top of skoda office i do not know.

Welcome Hardy Just wait ‘til you get some stupid answers. You’ll soon realise you’re in good company Gaz
  44. Telly selt to a delightful gent this evening.
  45. More than one thanks, but this is a Skoda forum so we 'big up' our Skodas, not the opposition.
  46. Hopefully mine isnt far behind yours.
  47. Have not done anything but yesterday I saw my maps are version 22.3. Seems to work now.

Well the young lady at halfords who fitted my current tyres did a good job ,as did the guy who hardwired my mates dashcam in ,i think some folk just like to talk crap as if everyones an expert
  49. With an SD card plugged in I have 8 devices on my PC (5 local and 3 NAS) and never yet(!) formatted the wrong one. Why format instead of delete? - as I said it's much quicker, because it only writes to the FAT so it also has less effect on the SD card life (like all electrically erasable devices they have a finite number of write cycles).
  50. 2 months old, just had a wash. Love this colour. In the sun it's not 'just red' it's really quite deep.
