  1. Has a bit of interest in the car but I’m honestly not mega bothered about selling, I’ll keep it up in the background for sale on here but for now I’m happy to keep it I finally found an airbag for a facelift up tsi wheel I’ve had for quite some time, I can now flick between the various mfd function and get the digital speedo

New fuel pump has arrived from Latvia, and filter from UK. This is a generic filter with 12mm connections that I bought to replace the plastic pre-pump filter. It's a bit bigger than I pictured, lol. I've been recommended a more appropriately sized one which is on the way. Out in the spring sun. Post pump fuel filter arrived. New rotor arm looked great until I compared to the old one. It has a smaller hole! It seems I have the 83 84 distributor. Cleaned my one up and I'll search for the Topran one same as I have.
  3. We flew into Heathrow from Australia in late August and picked up our pre-arranged Vauxhall Corsa rental from Hertz at Heathrow It was the second cheapest option, the cheapest being a Picanto which I did not think would be quite large enough for our two sizable suitcases and carry-on luggage but they fitted in the Corsa comfortably. The Hertz guy offered to upgrade us to a more economical Toyota Hybrid, which I was quite keen to do until I realised he expected us to pay an extra 20 pounds a day for the privilege... so I declined. First impressions were not positive, Visibility from the driver's seat was not good, I was bobbing my head around the obstructions presented by the rear view mirror and the A pillars like a Cockatoo on a perch as we made our way out to the M25 during peak evening traffic. The 1.2L 3 pot engine seemed gutless and coarse under acceleration and the projected mileage on a full tank was only 422 miles, however by the time I had got to Essex the projected distance has risen to 495 miles despite having covered 60 miles, so at least it could be economical. Handling was average and the steering provided little feedback, the ride was comfortable enough most of the time but did not like sharp bumps and all the windows were like portholes compared to our Octavia wagon and Toyota Echo back home and awful for sight-seeing people like us. The lack of performance turned out to be my fault as both our owned cars have relatively sensitive throttles, the Toyota with little pedal travel and the Octavia pedal only needing to depressed to the point where the turbo cuts in and it takes on a life of its own. The Corsa just needed more and more throttle as the revs rose and then it could attain its official 13 second dash to 60 mph. The other thing for me to adjust to was that that kph displays increases a lot quicker than mph (doh!) . The engine still felt coarse when under any pressure but was ok when cruising However the car proved to be very economical achieving 60mpg overall and 65mpg on a run ( I stuck to all the speed limits which few others did) and even got about 40 mpg in peak time Outer London traffic. As there was no manual it took me a while to work out how to access and reset the trip meters but when I did I found that over the last 6500 miles the car had averaged 22mpg averaging 18 mph and I have no idea how they got that. I did a 30 mile return journey using the North Circular to Hampstead Heath with the return leg entering peak period traffic and averaged 60mpg at 21mph. The car had a fairly high level of accessories, including very necessary reversing cameras and front and rear sensors, which is ridiculous in a small town orientated car. The interface with my Android phone was absolutely seamless as soon as I plugged in, and the Google maps guidance brilliant...most of time, but sometimes 'she was well off her game' and I would get conflicting instructions from her and my wife acting as back up navigator which got hilarious at times. Overall, it did what we wanted at a reasonable price and with good economy. I would have preferred a Fabia 1.0tsi but that would have cost more than twice as much to rent.
  4. Boo hiss... Come on be a grass and tell us
  5. I like this knowing, but being sworn to secrecy... makes me all giggly.
  6. Oh come on... Spill the beans and don't keep us in suspense
  7. Just been for a walk in the dark and was lucky enough to spot the moon peeking over the trees on the way back

Picked up my my new car monday 3rd October, so that was approx 16 months wait. And the car is not the one I originally ordered as that is still not built as far as I know. The car I got is velvet red and has the panorama roof, my original order was moon white and no panorama. Other than that they are identical, so got this rather than wait any longer. Driven 1000km in the first week, apart from annyoing fake engine noise and a bit dissapointing sound from the Canton, Im quite happy. Havent been able to edit the Excel sheet to update, so if someone is able to do so, that would be great.
  9. Difficult, because it appears that we are comparing a 2013 Octavia with a 2019 Karoq so we are probably looking at quite different locking systems. My own experience suggests that Panasonic batteries last longer than 'unbranded' ones. As I'd rather avoid the inconvenience of having to change the battery when I'm in a hurry, I'm more interested in the longevity of the battery rather than cost. For me, a Panasonic battery (as supplied in the original keys) lasted nearly 2 years while a cheapie lasted 3 months - so I'd rather pay a few pence extra for the convenience.
  10. There is no VOSA now, they are DVSA. Do not leave car faults on new cars until a car is going in for a service. The Warranty has Exclusions & 6 months / 6,500 miles on some things. But if you leave things un-reported then Staff at Dealerships say, 'we have never seen or heard of that' while other say ' they all do that', and some say'. Skoda / VW are dealing with that and will resolve it.
  11. Hence why they are also known as the Opel/Vauxhall Coarser".
  12. That's fine for issues that are not affecting safety (like the SOS pop) but ones like the "random cruise won't pass on the right so it slams the brakes on" IMHO are safety affecting so Skoda should be forced to do an official recall as they affect the safety of other road users too.
  13. We have a 1.6 SEL DSG 19 plate with 12k on the clock bought about a month ago. Wife really likes the car except for the most annoying noise coming from we think the front LHS its not there all the time but when it is its a knocking noise Had car into local garage(none Skoda) to check suspension, bushes, ball joints and front drives, they say everything is good underneath. I have read on other forums the same problem but none with any real answers.

Hi all, new here. I'm picking up my first Octavia at the end of the month, a rallye green mk3 VRS 245. I'm really excited! I want to replace the alloys with the 19 inch xtreme but I can't decide between the anthracite or the black. Does anyone has any photos of these on their car they could share so I could compare? It would be really appreciated. 😊
  15. Google maps or Waze should appear on the central screen with android auto. It does with CarPlay. Also, since the latest update to the infotainment system, the directions from phone apps appear on the virtual cockpit as the built in satnav does.
  16. I have it got but I don't want to spill until I get it home. What I will say is, it's a barn find, is very rare as most of them have rotten away and it's a prime candidate to take to FOTU next year.
  17. Oh yeah... the "thing" you told me about?
  18. The outside of this is more or less back together now. Fogs aren't plugged in but they're bust anyway. Few other odds and ends need sorting, big one being an interior. Engine runs very well, very smoky on pulls, whether that'll clear out or not I'm not entirely sure. I think I may try for mot on this, beat on it through the winter. Would be nice to have a spare car for a while. Also, I might have another car coming my way, a non-skoda project. Not a big project by any stretch but I wanted to see the vrs "done" before I get this new car.

VRS petrol with DSG and hatchback. With canton and DCC in grey. Nah I didn't update the spreadsheet
  20. Took it to Skoda originally whose charge was £85. They waived it having found nothing.
  21. I think the cars sat nav only displays in the dashboard/cockpit. I always use Waze on the main infotainment screen and charge my phone at the same time off one of the 2 usb c ports under the screen in centre console, or via Bluetooth.

It really isn't awful driving on 19s at all. I wasn't looking for 19" when I was shopping, just happened that the one that ticked all the right boxes had the pack which included them. I went from a Mk2.5 on 18" wheels to my Mk3.5 on 19" wheels and I've certainly not noticed a harsher ride at all. Tyres are obviously more expensive - especially if you're like me and will only buy/fir particular brands and models. But when you're getting 40k miles from tyres, that doesn't crop up that often.
  25. I've checked with my dealer as well and It is a bumper off job. I will wrap mine with a piano black folio instead of replacing it with a black one.
  26. thats a bargain price, had these tyres on mine when i bought car last year, fantastic tyres in wet and dry, gave me confidence specially in the rain when pushing on country roads, 20k miles later rear tyres still have plenty of tread left, fronts lasted around 18k miles,
  27. According to the guys from the dealership, the front bumper should be removed as well.
  28. no they come straight out no puller required the whole job takes an hour for both sides its very easy mate and personally for the price of the bearings I would suggest while you have the rear arm down you do both just make sure you have 2 jacks makes the whole process a lot easier
  29. I am sitting in my Corsa now charging after 1 1/2 hours driving. 3 hours more to do using electricity I have not paid for. Seat fully down and back and heating on and steering wheel heat on. I see all I need to. I would be happy in a Fabia if getting 65 mpg as I can in a 130 ps auto Corsa driving at the same speeds. Skoda will eventually get a Fabia sized EV. If they had even bothered just doing the mk4 as a mild hybrid estate that would have been simply clever.
  30. All Fabia sold in Aus have had turbo power so the mpi versions did not even occur to me although I would not have minded one if offered. My preference for a Fabia was mainly for the less tomb-like interior and the far better view of the outside world (especially for rear passengers). The Fabia would have been a nicer car to drive around viewing the British countryside in my opinion, and a damned sight easier to drive in town without having to duck my head around the Corsa's visual obstacles to safely negotiate city streets and traffic.
  31. It is, however, if you fancy your hand with some DIY wiring, you could wire up a 12v socket that is ignition controlled, with a piggyback fuse from the internal fusebox, there's one fuse in there that is ignition controlled, I believe there's a thread about dashcam installations that lists it. you could then run the wire to your charger whichever way you like.

I jus called the dealership to get my VIN number only to be told my car arrived on Friday. At last! I’m still one of the lucky ones as I’ve only waited 11 months. The amusing part was being told the salesman was on annual leave so he’d be in touch when he returned to sort things out. Really? 🤣
  33. You probably can't change it on a 2019 car I'm afraid. The modules have changed a few times over the years and not all variants let you change the HBA activation speed 😞
  34. They change the names of these agencies so often ...

My investigations have been inconclusive. Tyre size 205/45 83W R16 was fitted from new. AIUI either Bridgestones or Continentals. I'd guess that's also on the sticker if it's still inside the fuel cap. I have tended to fit 87W as I like running higher tyre pressure on the fronts and think that a reinforced or XL tyre should have a stiffer sidewall to help steering..... If not comfort. I made some remark back in 2010 according to Briskoda where I asked if anyone knew of a statement in the owners documents that the car would explode if driven on the wrong tyres. Various organisations seem to recommend the "W" rating as the correct one for the car. <shrug> To be honest, I'd rather put a better branded V rated on it, in a push, than a ditch-finder with a W on the side of it.
  36. I forgot to finalise this story. I had two injector repaired, two brand new. Also cleaned all fuel system cleaned, fuel pump repaired. I believe cleaning fuel system was a scam, but anyway. I was told that man who checked injectors found a microscopic metal particles, so they can appear in the fuel system aswell. I asked how did you cleaned the fuel system? He said "Oh... we cleaned the whole tank with clothes, and blowed the fuel pipes with compressed air". My thoughts: microscopic particles cleaned with a cloth? Blowing? Really? Even particles are in the fuel system, then what is the purpose of the fuel filter? 🤔 But anyway. That's the end of this story. Problem solved anyway. Even if suspect garage scam.

    You got me here. 😂😂
  38. At least the dings aren't in any body panels... 😜 Sorry, not helpful I know - but I can imagine how annoying the errors must be. Hope you can get it sorted.

I never understood why people put some kind of protection on their doors. The problem are other people slamming doors into your car and not vice versa. 😁
  40. I'm questioning whether I want to own it, full stop! What is it now 2 years, coming on 3 and they STILL haven't fixed all of the errors, really not good enough.
  41. It was an airbag control module. It still has the SOS pop despite everything being super up to date. It's a great car but I'm questioning if I want to own it outside of it's warranty.
  42. I just sprayed all of them! Lol. Been quite a few months and still ok.
  43. I'm surprised that a 2011 Fabia needs the radio code (assuming it's the original factory fitted radio), for many years no code has been needed if the radio is installed in the original car. Certainly my ex's 2005 Fabia didn't need a code when I replaced the battery.
  44. Thanks Lee, that was useful. Only need to locate my engine number now….I hope it doesn’t involve too much dismantling…
  45. Usually close to the engine/gearbox where it mates together off top of head.
  46. Yes, that is what I thought too. But user @tdiestate says about the fault code that "it usually just moans about the igniter (can't remember exact words)". And the he solved it by fixing wiring to the door.
  47. I have used these for most my parcels. Will review once I work out where it is and how much it weighs. Will private message you. Have you made sure it’s not sitting in your spare wheel foam as I believe there is a place for it with the Jack etc?
