  1. Tell the salesperson to get on their bike.
  2. They only make the SE in the blue. If you want a different colour then it'll just be a VRS.

  4. Well, after a break of a couple of years after I sold my Superb L&K Estate I have returned to the fold. Since selling the Superb I’ve mostly been running around in an Abarth (so from a huge exceptionally comfortable car I went to a tiny car with a harsh ride 🤔) but eventually have decided that 2 years with the Abarth is probably enough. But no regrets about having the Abarth, just wish I could have kept the Superb but I value my marriage more… Anyway, looking around at what might work to replace the Abarth but still have enough poke to be fun I kept coming back to Skoda and in particular the Octavia VRS 245 petrol. Ideally an estate but we have another car that could do estate car duties so a hatchback could work too. And DSG would be nice.. I’d tracked a new Velvet Red manual hatch down at Simpsons in Preston, about 2 hours from where I am. My plan was to go and see the car yesterday afternoon or maybe even today at some point. However I’d not really looked at the Mk IV VRS in the flesh so while I was out and about yesterday I called in speculatively at our local dealer to see if he had even a non VRS Octavia I could have a look at/sit in. If I didn’t like it for whatever reason, I could save myself a 4 hour round trip to Preston… As I walked in to the dealership at Bradford, with swmbo, right in the middle of the showroom was a new Magic Black VRS Estate 245 petrol with DSG. A cancelled order, the guy had got fed up with waiting and bought a used Kodiaq instead. Dealer continued with the order though on the basis it would sell easily or be put on as a demo. They’d had it less than 48 hours and had not put it even on internal stock availability yet…Sounds like fate to me! Suffice it to say a deal was struck and I pick the car up on 31 October, the Abarth is being taken in as PX. I’m very much looking forward to being part of the Briskoda community again (have to say the Abarth social scene/community is also fabulous. Although I’m old enough to be the father or even grandfather of the bulk of the guys and gals over there.👨🏻‍🦳🤣) I’ll be spending the intervening spare time trawling through even more YouTube VRS content! Until later
  5. Lovely this evening, once the rain had stopped............
  6. Major update.... After about 8-9 weeks, we are now back to where we should have been since Aug 18th on delivery. It has taken all this time, and 3-4 revised ETAs to get a control module! Part replaced, and all is fully operational now. Now ready to take delivery take 2..... Negotiated compensation of additional 12month warranty and 2 services.... Hoping to progress a smooth delivery after all the time....crazy....
  7. You only need new gaiters if yours are split or missing, you'll get new nuts with the shocks and your existing bump stops may not be needed, Bilsteins come with their own internal stops. Which leaves the bearing and top mount which you say you're replacing. You really only need to replace stuff that's actually damaged or worn.
  8. Recently purchased 2 Warning Triangles for my 2022 Octavia Hatchback from Screwfix as 2 are required in Spain. Perfect fit in the holder in the boot and only £6.99 each. Hilka Foldable Warning Triangle Meets EU requirements
  9. So, I've been able to retro fit a seatbelt buckle that activates the warning light light on the dashboard. The wiring to the dash may be allready fitted to your car depending on year, and optional equiptiment. The thing will be to see if you can find the connector in the 2nd picture. It's a case of running 2 wires from this connector under the glovebox (the white connector with 1green wire, 1brown wire) to the new buckle and the light on the dash should illuminate when the seatbelt is uncliped. The hardest bit will be finding a seatbelt buckel with warning connector that fits (I used one from a seat ibiza, but had to modify it to fit) I will say that this might not be the case for all models, and that my car is a Mk2 facelift felicia with central locking, and the 1.3mpi engine. And I have since found that it is kind of pointless also, because I allready drive everywhere with my seatbelt on, but It's a nice little function to have on the dash.
  10. On a MK3 Octavia, the audio connection between the headunit and canton amp uses MOST-bus. MOST-bus is based on fibre optics so it's pulses of light down plastic tubes The Android headunit will probably have high and low level outputs but I've never seen one with MOST-bus. You would need a 3rd party adaptor, for example this rather expensive convertor: https://www.kufatec.com/en/volkswagen/vw-golf/golf-7-5q/headunit-replacement-adapter-with-most-amplifier-dynaudio-canton-for-vw-golf-7-skoda-octavia-5e-41333
  11. Hi Pete, that sounds like the posting from Bollcat on 27th May last year. His clutch failed at 2700 miles! 1.0TSI manual.
  12. More fun and games at the local Ford
  13. There's a similar story on here somewhere where the OP got an independent auto engineer/inspector involved, who was able to demonstrate that Skoda's diagnosis was nothing better than a guess. When further disassembly/inspection occurred it was shown to be plain wrong, and a faulty from manufacture clutch was shown as the most likely cause. That's all from memory, I'll try to find the thread for you tomorrow if no-one else does first.
  14. You will; it’s the tiny block connector I’ve circled. I’d imagine it shorted when it broke, hence the warning. The white connector is the auto dim socket and the two prongs are the heated element connectors.

ill change that to english as re technical stuff it's more preferred, cheers mate!
  16. it worked now after formating. Thanks again GBU
  17. I think, a product carrying "Made In Germany" on it has its engineering made proper. I don't think it will cause you any trouble in the future. Good work by the way. Keep it up. Here is what I've installed. (The sticker on the product box) I don't think you can find this in UK tough. A more universal part locally sold is: Monroe 23821 Listed with OEM number: 115395001 Seller's compatibility list: (Meaning it will "fit" but doesn't mean absolutely proper!) Skoda Favorit L (89-92) Skoda Favorit LX (93-95) Skoda Favorit Pick-Up L (92-93) Skoda Favorit Pick-Up LX (93-95) Skoda Felicia 1.3 MPI Skoda Felicia 1.6 MPI ( AEE ) Skoda Felicia Combi Skoda Felicia LX - GLX (95-97) Skoda Felicia LX - GLX (98-01) Facelift Skoda Forman L (89-92) Skoda Forman LX (93-95) I worked a lot on the car, and I've encountered many "replacement parts not fitting" type of problems. For example, door handles. I've modified them a little bit to fit to their place. Some parts for our cars are not available any more. I'm also collecting knowledge to fit parts from other cars' parts. Feel free to PM me for any question if you don't like posting a topic about it. (I won't ask anything for return) Only thing I don't have a slightest idea could be SPI fuel system on your Favorit because I have a carb. system.
  18. Good luck with that. There's no changelog with a firmware, we can only guess as to what they fix.
  19. Nope. The glovebox unit does, the screen does not
  20. Good thing we have a choice I remember one perfect example of long life servicing. Renault Laguna - queen of lorries - 1,9 dCI engine. In some cases turbo failed after 70kkm, and negine problems started at roughly 200kkm. Mitsubishi Carisma 1,9 DiD. No issues, many cars ran for 300kkm and more with factory fitted turbo and no engines problems at all. Both cars had in reality exactly same engine. It's just that Renault used LL servicing, and Mitsubishi used good, old fixed intervals. I know it was 20 years ago, and now we have better oils, but those still degrade with time. Oil is especially important in turbocharged engines, as the same oil is used for engine and turbo. For me it's good enough reason to use fixed servicing interval. It's not really that expensive, and can save a lot of money in the future. Would be different i it was a leased car, which i know i will get rid in 3-4 years
  21. Left the usb drive in today whilst driving, now have Navigation database 21.11 - it was 20.3, so presume all updated. Thanks for the info Varooom. Chris
  22. Hi, I have a mk3 combi, and the bench is split 60/40, you can lift it up and away, or remove completely, there are just 4 hooks holding the thing in place. If you have the double boot floor, the whole thing goes flat when you raise the shelf to the higher position. It is really strange they would leave this out of the hatchback. I wonder if you could replace the bench with one from the combi...

XDS is only on the vRS, and there are some Mk2 with a Traction Control button and some without. There are even mk2 without ESP because Skoda had it standard on some cars and an option on others, right up to it being required as a Factory Standard by legislation. PS. The cars can and some do have ESP without having TC / ASR and a TC on / off button. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/327411-stupid-question-esptraction-control http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/164651-why-no-esp http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/446051-esc http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/226448-traction-control
  24. Those getting 1.4 TSI PHEV's later in their life need to be aware their Oil & Filter Service & Inspection Services are 'fixed services'. With 1.5 TSI's Variable / Flexible oil changes need not be an issue if the cars are doing enough miles annually. Servicing is more than 'Oil & Filter' changes and Look see 'Inspection services'. Or should be, but not with the new Oil & Service and Extended Scope set up with Skoda Dealerships. So a Full Main Dealer Service History does not mean Serviced to the Manufacturers Recommendations, guidelines or even schedule. No guarantee that wheels have been off since the car was built, or brake fluid ever tested let alone changed, or many more things that are actual servicing and maintenance. People need to check out the prices being asked to change a timing belt on a 1.5TSI when that time comes around.
  25. I've used Valeo discs + some local brand pads. First month everything was smooth. After that, they started squealing. I blame the pads however. I don't think drilled/slotted discs are a must have for light weight/low power road cars. Use solid discs with a peace of mind. If you want a real brake upgrade, it's a good time for you to consider Ford Sierra caliper + larger diameter disc upgrade. This upgrade requires 14" or larger rims. You already have this. I understand what you mean. Even the product picture is wrong.
  26. Right place at the right time 🤝
  27. The 1.4 TSI engines are that good that they are used around the world still in the likes of North America and Australia and fitted to a 8 speed TC Automatic. There was no need like in the EU / Europe to be used just as plug in hybrids because they would be too high emissions if put through a WLTP. 1.5 TSI's can be brilliant. Maybe those looking to buy used ones will pay attention to the Service History of stuff done and not just ticked off. and the Recall Actions carried out and Warranty work done, and now if there are any TPI's covering them.

hi Penpusher, Appreciate your reply, the car been purchased from german VW dealer by previous owner. i've checked what you suggested already and the only thing i can see is 'Front Assist', see photo attached. it seems ridiculous that such as model (top one) misses some of the 'standard' assistance features, is this possible or there may be a bug after recent soft upgrade (info also attached)? Thanks, Matt
  29. Check that you have these 2 screw postions as seen, then you should be able to adjust the beam, this will affect the dipped/high beam at the same time. Height is postion 1 Left and right deflection is position 2
  30. 1.5 TSI been with us since 2017 or 2018. Plenty of cars out of warranty now, and somehow i haven't heard about failures. At least since 2018 they are undergoing WLTP certifications, and since that time not much has changed in the engine as such, except for adding mHEV to some models.
  31. Yeah, I took ETKA for some hours to see there are a lot different parts used in these two Skoda base engines. Actualy almost all of them. But as it looks to me there is a chance with minor alteration or none to do it. It's like putting 120L parts in 105L engine block- that we did a lot of times. In the worse case scenario i will fit the whole 1.4engine + ECU. I guess the wire loom will be the same- still will be chacked that. These engine start production in 1000MB, then 100S, 105/120/Rapid. Have renovation with improved head and some parts in Favorit, Felicia, than again an improve in Fabia/Octavia. They all have 3 main crank bearings. In Fabia there is the best consctruction. Some colleagues in Czechia even do 1.4 with turbo witch holds pretty much ok on boost. 120++ hp...
  32. 1.5TSI's since the WLTP certification are going to be interesting to watch as the years go on and they are out of manufacturers warranty. Best take out extended Skoda Warranties when the Manufacturers ones do expire. (Memories of Euro 5 TSI's, overblown on the internet, according to VW Group and others.) http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/506640-octavia-mk4-15tsi-engine-rattle
  33. Just found the more detailed instructions, sorry , ooops
  34. Motor wear is negligible, there shouldn't be any motor efficiency loss. The reduction in range is purely inside the battery, it can no longer store as much energy as it ages. In this example, when new, the total capacity is 50 kWh (kW is power, similar to bhp. kWh is energy, because power * time = energy) But manufacturer specify 10% as buffer. It is probably a mix of top and bottom buffer. Total usable capacity when new is 45 kWh. In practical terms, usable capacity is all we care about. As the car ages, it may only able to retain ~80% of original capacity after 8 years (this 80% after 8 years data comes from my 8 yo Nissan Leaf, newer cars will probably do better). This means 80% * 45 kWh = 36 kWh of usable capacity left in the battery. That is called battery degradation. Battery degradation are due to many factors, main 2 are age and charge cycles. Over my 5 years of the Leaf ownership, I had not observed driving efficiency (mi/kWh) reduce as the vehicle ages. But I had observed it take less energy from the plug due to battery can hold less and less charge. As result, less range.
  35. Hiya Tom, If you have a Mk 3 VRS then I'd recommend getting the Audi sound resonance damper (harmonic damper) for the rear suspension! Takes 1 minutes to fit and once it's been worn in slightly it works a treat in reducing sound coming in from the rear suspension. Not perfect but well worth the money! Details here - https://www.golfmk7.com/forums/index.php?threads/how-to-retro-fit-the-rear-subframe-harmonic-damper-from-the-audi-a3-saloon-2013.369369/ Just make sure your rear suspension has the appropriate fitting holes before purchase!
  36. Well after three years of 3.6 loveliness it's time to move on. Circumstances have changed, I wanted something different and a Volvo XC70 fitted the bill. I'm going to really miss the 3.6 engine, it's a lovely unit and feels just as strong as the day I got it. I wont miss the fuel bills and road tax! All the best and thanks for any help/advice given.
  37. ETKA shows different blocks between the 1.0 & 1.4. I presume one of the differences might be different size bores in the block for the wet liners but I'm not sure.
  38. Ok guys I can confirm that 20x8.5 ET45 wheels fit perfectly fine with 235/35/20 tyres on a Mk4 Octavia VRS Estate. No rubbing on full lock and ride quality is the same. Pics below.
  39. spring cups definitely smaller but to be fair they look ok once assembled
  40. Thanks for the info to you all. Apologies to the OP, I now understand. Yet another reason for me not to buy a newer car.
  41. Excellent I’ve ordered that 😊

Cool thanks! I'll get that switch sorted. (so in the lock mechanism, right? Counterintuitive, the wiring must go around half the car to the roof and back down again. Well, nothing comes near the madness in my 2.3tdr Frontera's engine bay though) If that switch is a no go or just to messy to get to it, i'll just add some switch like you did Fylaktos. After that i'll add a light to the other side of the boot as well. And perhaps fix a lamp to the carport behind the garage, as it gets dark there as inside an elephant's a**. Thanks all. Z
  43. So did some investigating to find out why the trap speeds were low the last time it was out, with some help from a couple of the guys at darkside and noticed injector devation on cylinder 2 was off. Pulled the injectors sent them down to get tested came back fine. Swapped the injectors around still showing issue in cylinder 2. Noticed it then started to use oil as much as a MK2 Fabia vRS does. Check the turbo seals all ok car still had plenty of power as it would spin the tyres in 3rd but oil consumpsion slightly concerning. Got bored and moved onto helping other folk with their projects such as 8 second passes at pod and drift cars. Thought id revisit the Fabia after the sessions had finished a couple of months back. Truck it on a truck and sent it down to Darkside who started looking into it and low and behold we found this 😂 guess that explains the oil consumpsion issue then. Also always had an issue with getting 5th gear in the 6 speed box (used to have to double clutch it going into 5th) never really thought much of it but the guys at Darkside always like to make sure everythings perfect and right for the cars when they leave so they had a look at it and this is what we found. So one of the spare gearboxes from their world record holding Arosa drag car was swiftly stolen and stuck in the Fabia. And now it's came back home, Both me and Darkside are determinded this car isn't going to die 🤣 back down in a few weeks for some extra custom interior bits

@hzoltaan here are the photos: 1) No light at all A: behind that hole there is a clip for the cables (in case that i want to remove the speaker stand). B: it came off, i will fix it soon. 2) Only the factory light is On, see the difference with the Led bulb. 3) All ON, the round Led was an addition many years ago, maybe in the future i will change it with a strip with is more ''cosmetic'' but even now a have plenty of light even in dark areas. 4) Only the round Led ON (i forgot to take a photo) 😁 The switches are Push On-Push Off, in the past i had a chrome one but looked too fancy.
  45. Has a bit of interest in the car but I’m honestly not mega bothered about selling, I’ll keep it up in the background for sale on here but for now I’m happy to keep it I finally found an airbag for a facelift up tsi wheel I’ve had for quite some time, I can now flick between the various mfd function and get the digital speedo
  46. I think I need a new phone to help me take some better quality photos.
  47. Thank you very much for the reply, i have done some more research and I don't believe it is possible. I have everything I need to return the car and I think that is the route I'm going to take, really upsetting as the car is lovely and the perfect thing for me besides the cruise control
