UK Owners are the Goose that keeps on laying the Golden Eggs for UK Main dealerships. They are not so keen to charge a reasonable price to do 1.5 TSI Timing Belts. Owners of them can expect a shock if having them replaced @ 5 years.

So just a repeat of the Skoda UK recommendation - which is inconsistent with VW techical documentation and all (AFAIK) other countries.
  3. Not really anything progress related but I'll post anyway. I have since tried (carefully) putting gasket sealant stuff onto the mating surfaces for the cork gasket, as a way to secure it properly and stop it slipping. It needs to cure so can't do any more there. Did take out the thermostat too to have a look, seems stuck solid. Dumped it into some boiling water and nothing happened. Will have to track down another it seems. With that out of the way, someone was up looking at the justy the other day and pointed out to me that if I moved some ****e about, I might be able to stuff it into the back of the garage and fit another car in. Wasn't doing too much so decided to try that out. Did create a fair mess moving stuff around. But it did seem possible. It's really jammed in though. The freezer isn't being used but I had to keep it in the garage. So I shove some bits of the Monte into it and pushed it deep under the stairs. Next problem is this old table top, I can't move it myself so it couldn't go anywhere either. With it out of the way I could get another few inches. Left myself some space on this side. Just in case. Slowly taking shape. Final test to see if all this hassle was worth it. It fits, just. Have about 6 inches from the front of the Monte to the garage door. I can't fit anything bigger than a fabia, but considering that's all I have, it doesn't matter. An hour or so spent but happy with the result. Can't complain about turning a 1 car garage into a 2 car garage for free.

I wouldn't use an independent that couldn't do the job. It's not due for a year, yet. I've used a few decent independents over the years that I'd trust. If I do have it done before I sell my car, I'll post prices. Looking at your link, I think Skoda would of had my eyes out. Yet their servicing prices seem more competitive generally, compared to some other manufacturers.
  5. Open the bonnet and just above the grille there will be a sticker stating the oil grade that your engine uses. Mine states 0W-20.

Phew, you all stressed me with this silicate bag. I just got mine out. 77000km. It was not Burt but a side is all Black. I managed to get it out without removing the overflow bottles but drained it in cases the bag burst.

They need the gear and more than ideas. Lets us know how much you are quoted please. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/507544-cam-belt-for-15-tsi-in-east-kent
  8. Breaks in the element can be seen, it's unlikely that all the parallel conductive elements are scratched through. It will be either the tab connection or the "tails"
  9. So much back and forward all this time and every thing was working , you don't have to enable 57 tv tuner in gateway because it talks to the mib2 unit 5F (5F is a Most bus master ) and obdeleven did not help in here because it does not scan most bus modules . A year after and i have it working finally.
  10. Personally I’d walk away. if they’ve not repaired it properly by either cheaping out on parts or a lack of attention to detail to notice ‘black != chrome’, well then what else have they messed up or done wrong.
  11. I've had my Superb for a little over two years, and I hadn't realized that AFS fatos did so many things. I did not know that depending on the speed, the left headlight illuminates the left area but below and that from 100 km/h it goes straight and focuses further. With xenon bulbs I hadn't realized they did so many things. I put a video of a similar model in which you can see the AFS system that Skoda has. https://www.hella.com/techworld/uk/Technical/Automotive-lighting/Adaptive-headlights-663/
  12. Think how much room you would have if the 2nd car was another Justy or pretty much any small family car of the time. That is a decent sized 2 car garage but not for anything modern and bloated, even the Fabia looks huge against it. You desperately need some more racking and storage in there but in the interim I like how you have turned the stepladder into a rack for the squirty stuff!!!! Creating more space in the garage/workshop is what I am working on at present, I have more tools and materials to bring to site for the house renovation which is not going to start until the workshop is sorted and useable with the equipment and materials in it, I have learned the hard way that otherwise you just become buried. First job after that is to double the size of the workshop to be able to work properly and have a seperate woodworking area, only then can the house renovation start. Until then I have to live in the caravan.

Hopefully I've saved you a lot of money!! 🤑
  16. 17" rims will fit even the most powerful Octavias, Superbs, and Kodiaqs that use the big 340x30mm front brake discs.
  17. To be honest I have just purchased a fuel, pollen, oil and air filter for her, the oil itself was the last piece of the puzzle. She has had 2 Skoda service visits and "allegedly" a service by bcm, given the wheels were welded on through oxidation between the alloy and the bolt mount I suspect the bcm service was non existent. Thanks for taking the time to reply guys
  18. Fortunately, yes, it can. When I did it, I did not use VCDS. Just follow my tutorial, it will be ok.
  19. To the left @Danbuoyshows a 2019 2.0 TDI, so it can not be a DQ200. (If a 1.6 TDI it could be.)
  20. The glovebox unit is the main head unit so to change that would need a new (or used) unit, this then needs component protection removed by a dealer. Then recoding to the car. Probably looking at more than £500 all in. A lot of money for a cd player. If specifically needing to make use of a cd collection maybe spend time ripping them and saving to SD card. More convenient for in the car and searchable on the system.
  21. I believe he's referring to the mk3 Octavia tyre sizes. They come on 19x7.5" rims, unlike the Superb which has 19x8" rims.
  22. The tyres sizes you said is wrong, standard is 235/40/19 for 19’s. When the tyres on it die get the Goodyear asymmetric 6’s, lovely and quiet If you’re going to be spending that much money, bargain on the price a bit then buy your own full winter alloys, but with the 280ps I’m not sure if the 17” still fits. Have you looked how much insurance is and road tax, being 280 I doubt it’s cheap, and like you say running costs but that’s everything atm 😞
  23. No, but he does list all of Europe in the country list, so I guess it must me 32GB
  24. The UK is 3 years paint. Corrosion as in a perforated (holed from behind / inside) panel is a different thing. A longer warranty that has no T&C's about annual, biannual, 3 yearly or periodic inspections. 12 Years Body Protection Warranty written down by Skoda UK seems to be getting rare. They used to clearly show that was what you got. Even though they tried their hardest to wiggle out of that. * Main Dealer Servicing includes, Body & Glass inspections according the Skoda Websites, menus, even though the Work Sheet might not and they might not be put on the system, but then Skoda know who the dealers are, the dealers know who the tech / fitters are that serviced the car.* Skoda UK Customer Services or the Contractor that does CS's keep saying claims invalid because not Inspections / Body inspection services were d SKODA_Warranty_Terms_November_2021.pdf
  25. The seller doesn't specifically state the size, but Googling that part number suggests it's a 32GB card.
  26. The UK Right To Repair Regulations say: but says nothing about the difficulty of the repair or provides for owners to make repairs. So as long as Skoda place the information on how to change the indicator bulb in the public domain they are compliant.
  27. How can manufactures get away with this? A replacement bulb will be a few pound to buy, yet with a ludicrous amount of labour time to fit it; no doubt the overall bill would be over £100. Doesn’t fit well with the UK Right to Repair legislation.
  28. I hope it does for you! It's my 3rd choice colour haha, blue, white then black.
  29. Take your petrol flap into your local paint supplier and ask them to colour match it..
  30. If you search under mib2 32gb you find them. Reckon mib1 never got to 32gb. So it's got to be searched under that for that size. It was a marketing thing when the all Europe map went large.
  31. I assume you have checked the under trays/shields are secure and not hanging down or damaged?
  32. Get it scanned and see are there any faults relating to implausible throttle pedal signal.
  33. They are all interchangeable between mib1 and mib2 as far as the CID is concerned. VW / Seat / Skoda cards can be used across brands and mib1 and mib2. Whatever the checksum / validation is used they all say OK fine when put in the unit.
  34. Assuming you get comms to the new gateway then you can program the installation list, it brings up all the possible installed modules and you simply tick the ones that you know you have. Most will be obvious, some may have several choices and you might initially pick the wrong one, you may also miss things that you should have included, but as long as you get the important things like engine ECU, instrument cluster, body control module etc enough vital systems will be talking to each other for the engine to start and run, doors to lock/unlock etc. Then its a case of looking at the fault codes for comms errors/module incorrectly programmed etc and working out which installed option you should have ticked, it won't look for things that you have not told it are installed so if for instance you have a Bluetooth module it won't be working but you wont see a comms error or anything, you will then need to add it to the installation list. I chose the latter as its something I have which I have disconnected and deselected from the installation list as it was bringing up comms error codes.
  35. Please let us know what you find. Best of luck. 🙂
  36. Stick with it, the aftermarket Weber conversions were in the main a pile of crap, never actually tested on the vehicles, you have the best carb in the world after you resolve the debris problems that might afflict a weber even worse. My pal put a Weber conversion on a CVH engined Escort, the venturi was forever icing up on damp days stopping the fuelling.
  37. Those cars decades ago had halogen lights. Those make a lot of heat. Led’s dont do that. Hense the condensation.
  38. Banjo bolt thread is not a standard ISO metric thread so unless a special Helicoil kit has been made for the job it's unlikely you will find one. If you find one then a helicoiled repair will be fine, stronger than the original & shouldn't leak because the banjo bolt brass washer is a larger diameter but it would effectively remove part of its sealing area, I think for that reason and the consequences of the job not being done correctly that nobody will have marketted a repair kit like they do for the caliper slide bolts, I could be wrong.
  39. Only just seen this thread..my superb elegance heater blower stopped working. I am no auto guy but the blower can be removed without taking anything out apart from removing the carpet trim jobby beneath the glove box...took me 15 minutes to remove...clean..gt85 spray then refit...working great .there is a great old thread on here about the easy removal .
  40. A few thoughts here…
  41. Thick fog descended this evening, but strangely cleared within the hour. Made for a pretty atmospheric walk!
  42. If the head hasn't been machined flat you'll be replacing that gasket forever more, also use the Temac MLS gasket, not some horrible BGA type composite turd.
  43. Brightness is for both infotainment and virtual cockpit I believe. I drag down from the top of the screen to access the shortcut menu and there’s a brightness bar to adjust. Handy for day/night changes.
  44. a good shout would be to get a set of 18 inch alloys (which I assume would still fit the challenge), get a set of colder weather orientated tyres and use those over the cooler periods. 225/40/R18 tyres are going to be noticeably cheaper than 225/35/R19 tyres, especially the cold weather variants.
  45. The wheels have been re-finished without the diamond cut too. Not a bad thing IMHO (I have done similar to mine) but perhaps an indication of a previous owner 'personalising' the car, maybe they have done similar with the grille? I'll be honest I would probably still walk away.
  46. In hindsight it shouldn’t be that difficult to retrofit the standard wireless charger if the part is available. The charging unit will consist of 2 connectors. One will be a HSD lead that will put into the back of the MIB unit the other will have 3 leads, power, ground, 12v switch. It would be very possible. The wireless charging unit is known as R265. I haven’t managed to find a part number for it as of yet but if you wanted that real clean install that would be the route. However no doubt the unit itself will cost more than it would have cost to option it.
  47. Hello for the TV the final letter has to be C, G, D I have bought 8v0919191B by mistake , but i think i has lucky as the hardware is the same as C, so just a firmware upgrade needed
  48. I think i has wrong here it is in the under the motorist seat. Can any one that has TV Tuner confirm please ? The Parts we need is (I'm almost sure): Harness -https://a.aliexpress.com/_mPh1i19 specify that it is for a Skoda Superb and the unit is under the driver seat. TV Tuner - 8v0919191 Bracket - 5g0919937 Bracket cover - 3q0963051 4 antennas - 3v5035577 A, C, D, G one letter for each one
  49. Ok after a good read of this thread and seeming as my 17 plate 2.0L Diesel SEL Octavia has now come out of warranty I've decided to go " teabagless ". My original expansion bottle has the part no. 5Q0121407G and is the version that has an inner and outer chamber with the " teabag " situated in the outer chamber and therefore no way of removing it. Interestingly, my mate's 16 plate 1.6L Diesel Estate has the single chamber expansion bottle which he fished the " teabag " out, yet it had the exact same part no. So the same part no. covers single and double chamber expansion bottles. For peace of mind I've now fitted the 5Q0121407M single chamber bottle as referenced in this thread at a cost of approx. £29 sourced from my local VW dealer. I couldn't be bothered to wait 2 days for TPS to order one in for me. It was roughly a ten minute job to do and I even managed to keep the fluid from flowing out of the old expansion bottle and then transfer it to the new one saving me the need of topping it up. I've cut out a section of my old two chamber bottle and posted a picture of it for those who are curious to see what it looks like. I'm a bit unsure though whether the teabag was behind or in front of the two plastic ridges. Also, but not really sure, it looks as if the corner of my " teabag " might be starting to become loose so thankfully I might have done this mod just in time.
