  1. Thank you for all the kind words. Ross (tech1e) asked me to post the pics on the Facebook group "Fabia Owners Club" and the response was great from all the people on there. First big show is "Rollhard", I didn't think the Fabia would be interesting enough for them to have on display, especially considering the level of other modified cars but here we are... Looks like it'll be on display on Sunday 6th August at Bicester Heritage. Can't wait.
  2. Tidied the Fab up in prep for going away a few trips over the coming weeks. It's looking quite good for a nearly 17 year old car. Oh, and also, big thank you to @vRS19TD for providing yours truly with the correct switchpack. I just need to wire in the rear windows now, but I've got this in and controlling the front windows from it fine.
  3. Not sure whether there is a spline on the wiper mount on a Superb. But if so then the wipers may have been removed in the past and put back in the wrong position.
  4. I’ve been using 1941 for a week now. Not a single glitch, bug or restart after updating. That manual failure came like for 2-3 days and then came a message that manual update succesful. So people who have manual failure, no worries it will sort itself in a few days. I had the 19XX (I don’t remember two last numbers) version before update and 1941 will make the infotainment a bit faster and more responsive too. This forum has been so helpful, useful and informative for years now. Thank’s to all members for the output and a special thank you to @varooom T13, Finland Octavia TDI 4x4 vRS Combi -22 steel grey
  5. save yourself £70 and buy a £5 brake fluid tester, I bet you have part exchanged the car before it actually needs a brake fluid change.

Just has this photo from the dealer. Car ready for collection tomorrow 👍
  7. Evening guys and girls Just a warning for the Bosch alternator that is on the fabia vrs and other fabia models , it has a pulley that drives it that has an overrun feature, this pulley on my car has done the opposite of seizing up it now freely spins each way while barely spinning the internal stator … causing the alternator to not charge the battery this has in turn had me changing the voltage regulator and diode bridge rectifier on the rear to try and solve my problem as I had checked the ohm readings on each coil and each where working fine , so please be wary as alternators are not cheap now and this is a very simple fix that with the right tools And parts can be done for less than £40 kind regards thomas aspin
  8. You need to be on at least 1896 software. Old versions think the car is left hand drive and as such think our overtaking is undertaking and don't allow it 😞
  9. In find with the closest setting for following, and the acc in sport mode it’s fairly tolerable. Rarely seems to get it wrong, but i can still be frustrated by it. if not, you can code normal cruise option to be selectable from the menu, then you can pick either one you like.
  10. Jep! Correct. I updated to 0324 (via varooom) in the meantime (this time no problems 😉
  11. Before doing the adjustments check the correct blades are on the wiper arms. Length.
  12. Today I uploaded 1941 and everything works fine. My earlier soft is 1896 uploaded on request in ASO Poland. My Octavia is from 2021, 1.5 tsi manual. All settings in the tablet remain, nothing has been deleted, including favorites in navigation. The car instructions with pictures work and are available. Everything runs smoother. I recommend an update. Thanks to user varooom for help and 1941 update files. 😍
  13. Before replacing, have you checked the right buckle is being used. The centre belt doesn't clip into the outer buckle and vice versa.
  14. It’s the cloth on the dash…pretty clear in the pic
  15. All Skodas that use five wheel bolts per wheel, use the same M14x1.5x27 wheel bolts, with OEM part number WHT001812.
  16. Just a small update for those who struggling with manual update - I had this manual update problem too (ERR_1601_DM_IN error) but after a longer trip it got self-healed and updated :). No issues at all now, no reboots.
  17. Hi, don’t know about sync settings as these worked fine for me, but Canton resetting bug is gone! After 1.5 half years of owning car I finally don’t have to mingle with those settings every time i get into the car 😄
  18. A drawbar trailer would have wheels at both front and back, not going to find these for cars, they are farm trailers and truck trailers 18.3 is standard trailer or caravan with wheels roughly in middle, showing as max 1500kg (doesn't matter if it is single axle or double axle, but wheels would be near middle, not in each corner 18.4 is unbraked trailer (usually small camping and general purpose trailers), max 670kg (loaded weight), lower as only have car brakes to stop it. 19 is the max weight on tow hitch (sometimes called nose weight), this is because trailers are slightly heavier at front than back. But many would say 50kg is better max.
  19. They are on a taper but im about 80% sure they are splined somewhat presumably to reduce the chances of them slipping rather anything else.
  20. You can get them in Halfords if you don't have one.... https://www.halfords.com/motoring/roof-bars-roof-boxes/roof-box-accessories/halfords-essentials-5m-ratchet-strap
  21. You can use a ratchet strap. Only usually needed for the standard bushes but it will work for the PSB ones too.
  22. Its not false, the ABS sensor is giving an incorrect reading, either over or under the correct RPM, most likely the former, the simple logic of the TPMS system shows this as a tyre pressure problem with that wheel. You need to replace the sensor before you have further problems with ABS, ESP etc. I hadn't seen the replys on page 2 when posting the above, I am out of here now. On peut pas faire boire un âne qui n'a pas soif.
  23. thanks so much to @Vroom Such a great thing to do to help out so many on here. Saving Skoda a fortune too in lost time updating all these units at their workshops.
  24. How often do fw updates come out? Who communicates them to us? @varooom
  25. I'm waiting to finish work to see their report, just advised it was a major service needed. Pads will need doing shortly, as 4-5mm left. It's a long term rental effectively so not ours but just one of those things, but annoying none the less, especially after forking out just over £500 last week due to stone damage making the AC not work.
  26. I had to be in Ipswich this afternoon, so called in to the dealer on the way home. They had a look while I was there, confirmed what I had found, no surprise there, he took it in to the workshop to do some tests, not full diagnostics, when he came back he said he had changed the battery just in case, but “it didn’t seem to have made any difference “. He gave a date to bring it back for full diagnostic check, but I was to confirm when I got home and checked our diary. Anyway, I went to the car and it just unlocked!! I checked a couple of times, both doors, and it seemed fine. I went back in to tell him, and he said “you must have magic hands”. I need to use it for a week or so to confirm that the battery change fixed it and let him know. In conclusion it was a faulty battery, only 3 months old, and mystifying that it only affected that one specific function.
  27. So not 'Poundland' specials put on before you bought the car. Good old UK, we went metric light. Then we showed them who is boss. Still drive miles, talk of MPG and buy fuel in litres, and measure wheels and wiper in imperial and tyre width in metric.
  28. What gets me with climate change naysayers is not that they do not admit that is ICE vehicles are accelerating oncoming more violent weather, flooding, sea rise but that they do not choose governments which guard against climate change ie more installing of storm drains etc as it may well be that quarter, half or three quarters or so of climate change and our industrial activity with carbon burning, and methane etc, is accelerating us to horrendous weather future and we all need to get on to government and get them to think befond 5 years and start thinking about the next 5 years. Humans are so bright we can even extract heat from our environment a get energy out of the process at a ratio of 4 to 1 with heat pumps. Whilst the UK falls behind other countries who are surging a head to a time of virtual free electrical energy, which will make their industries much more competitive, we languish. I have a heat pump in my Zoe. Want one in my house, even if just a room sized one. When less oil and gas is used for residential and business heating prices will fall and Western Europe being made to dance by not very nice foreign powers can end. Big Heat pump projects..... 800% efficiency................ %
  29. So the problem was in the main fan controller, as smaller fan connected directly to the battery was spinning. Thank you everyone for the help and suggestions!
  30. Possibly, but there are two different racks fitted to other (non-RS) variants of Mk2 2011 Fabia, so clearly there are some differences. First of the three diagrams calls up suffix-R part the OP mentioned, the third calls up suffix-T
  31. You can get your rack rebuilt, probably the cheapest option but you may be able to get an already rebuilt rack on exchange, it won't be a part unique to the Fabia VRS, many other VAG cars will also have one fitted.
  32. Spy shots are only of use to those who've never seen inside another Skoda. A real spy would take a picture of this new screen cleaner thingy... 🤣
  33. Hmmm, to my untrained ears it just sounds like a diesel. @Justgenius, perhaps you could record and drop a vid, but without the hugely distracting constant movements of the OP’s?
  34. Can confirm my weekly wash leaves my disks with a covering of rust.
  35. Night time tariff for 4 hours. 7 kW charger, maybe as much as 28 kWh charged at that low rate. 6 hours 42 kWh maybe. Fair enough. Much cheapness. Lovely stuff for those with home chargers and vehicles home during the low tariff The Future is bright, maybe even orange. All these chargers being installed and that hopefully is actually being connected and available to use, and going to be maintained and reliable. The article does say 'switched on'.
  36. Make a folder on the stick. Name the folder for example the name of the 1790 update. Put data and Meta folders in it and then try to update
  37. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/489482-rear-drum-brakes-sticking OT but, Red Pavers much worse for holding the cold / ice / snow than Grey ones. My mums parking area has red pavers. Tragic. I keep telling people who will listen but LIDL are as stupid to put red ones at Disabled parking bays in Scotland and where they might do no gritting. But then there are places that paint the surface of a Disabled Bay or EV charging bay, like in my local. Re, 'Full service 2.5 years ago. Unless specified exactly what was done then unlikely to be that 'Full a service' if at a Skoda Main Dealers. .................................. So the rear drums were always supposed to be part of Skoda Main Dealer Servicing at Major Services, bi-annual. Remove drum and clean. About 13 years ago it was showing as being done on Skoda Websites for Minor & Major Servicing, then they went to inspect / check and that was through the spy hole on the back plate. For many a year there are places that supposedly did service drum brakes that yet never have the wheels off the car by the time of the first or subsequent MOTS. Plenty issues in the Mk2 Fabia section. Car washing can be enough to have brakes sticking on. There was the broken retaining spring issue for years. There is the not able to get an alloy wheel off when eventually needs must, punctures etc because they have been on since fitted at the factory. Loads of threads on that one.
  38. You may already be aware of this so apologies if you are, but sign up to their motoring club ( free ) and you'll get £5 off that fluid change. They also have a Premium club ( costs £49 ) which includeds £10 voucher + 5% off which makes brake fluid £37.50 + includes an MOT ( useless if you're taking All-in-1 tho ). But keep checking special offers. Last year I checked hotukdeals.com and received further money off. Using all the offers the MOT cost £24 at National ( part of Halfords ) and fluid change was something like £39. You can usually find someone doing an offer - you just missed one from ATS.
  39. Cigar to toot, I was thinking you'd probably have disc rear brakes. 😄 Well the concrete floors on my sheds always seem very cold in winter. In your photo even though the sun is out your drive and car seem to be mostly in the shade so not drying as quickly as perhaps some of the other drives in your street, lots of variables though. You probably need to find other 2018 Fabia owners to see how their brakes perform as the brakes used in production could vary by supplier and/or quality or finish over any production period, not that it really matters as you have what you have. Driving every other day should help to keep things moving more freely, my wife's car is generally used everyday and has rear discs and I changed the front discs and pads due to wear, I can't say I was impressed with the wear over such mileage it had but the car was bought s/h with 10k-miles on it with totally unknown history as it was a Dealership car so who knows what they did or didn't do with it. If you have a good indy guy he'll be able to tell you and advise you about this matter, if he's good look after him they are so few now and getting rarer. Be good if you can report back as it all adds to the knowledge bank for others. My neighbour's car has just had to have two new front brake calipers due to rusty brakes as it rarely moves off the (old block paving) 'drive' but it is nearly 18 years old with only 28k-miles on it, as I've know the car from new I know it still has better brakes than my wife's 2015 VWSkoda Fabia has or had and it's "only a cheap Korean car".
  40. The fuel cut out switch activated when there was an impact.
  41. I hope you have more luck with cheap sensors that I have, I would go OEM every time, it saves a lot of hassle 😉
  42. They dropped them because as Euro 5's they cheated with defeat devices and the Euro 6 were not going to get the WLTP results required without a cheat so they had to make them 1.6 TDI SCR (Adblue). So 2.0 TDI with less power made sense. A 2.0 TDI 115 ps Golf 7 speed DSG i drove for a week was amazing for fuel consumption, but needed to be put in S at junctions as 1st to 2nd in D was dire. High 70,s MPG was easy and even into the 80,s MPG.
  43. Folks, this forum has a brilliant track record of keeping things on track with a really helpful community. If you want to discuss the lunacy of Brexit please do it elsewhere.
  44. Personally I usually use Westfalia, but Brink/Thule are the same kit and is fairly good kit ... just not cheap. Dont forget to get your Yeti "programmed" so it knows it has a towbar so all the electrics and stability control works correctly.
  45. Updated infotainment: MHI2_ER_SKG13_P4518 1240 --> MHI2_ER_SKG13_P4526 1440

Hi, My vRS 2WD estate, I generally travel long distances, eg yesterday North Yorkshire to Norwich, 70ish on the A1 and somewhat variable on the A17 and A47 204 miles 72mpg ,
