Yeti 1.2 2016 "gearbox overheated. Stop!" - engine warning light
Hi Tien I'm assuming this is a DSG gearbox The error code may be a historic one due to the transmission controller having too low a voltage. Now that you have a new battery It would be best to clear this code before proceeding. The dashboard message shouldn't be taken too literally, I suspect the same message will be displayed for any gearbox related error. The most likely over-temperature condition is in the clutches rather than the transmission fluid, and this clearly isn't the case here with everything stone cold.3 points

the truth about electric cars
3 pointsEVs have far more performance than many people are accustomed to or need, and accident figures are going to reflect this. I'm not sure why the emphasis has been on performance rather than range for so many of them, but then I suppose using strong acceleration to try and attract "petrolheads" to EVs makes sense. I'd be happier with a 0-60 time of under 7 seconds and a 500 mile range rather than something with a sub 5 second 0-60 time and a 300 mile range.3 points

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Battery coding is a joke! I've replaced my battery few months ago. The original coding had wrong battery manufacturer 3-letter code (JCB instead VAO) and code was 1111111111. The only thing which you have to pay attention to is : - Setting the right autonomy: 68Ah or 70Ah if you install a stronger one. - Changing the code. 1111111112 can be enough. It's just to warn the ECU, that battery is new for power management.3 points

Registration SK17ODA
2 pointsI enjoyed this registration on a couple of Kodiaqs, but I've returned to my old short plate. On retention certificate V778 in my name + address. Ready to transfer to another vehicle online with DVLA to the owner of another vehicle holding a V5C. The online transfer simply requires the 2 long serial numbers from the certs.. £3502 points

Yeti 1.2 2016 "gearbox overheated. Stop!" - engine warning light
Hi I don't think the clutches or anything else in the DSG gearbox is genuinely overheating, there simply isn't enough time for heat to build up before you get the message. It's possible Skoda have arranged for the overheat message to be shown when there is any gearbox related fault code stored, which is why I suggest clearing the present code before doing anything else.2 points

the truth about electric cars
2 pointsHave you read about Nissan e-power? Petrol engine that powers electric motor: https://www.nissan.co.uk/range/e-power-cars.html All Tesla 3/Y after around 2021 are li-on 15v batteries. My MY has Li-on low voltage battery. Tesla S/X "raven" I think are li-on, raven powertrain cars are available in UK as RHD. The reason they have low voltage battery in EV is to function as ballast, ensuring there is minimum voltage swing. In micro electronics, think of them as the capacitor we'd put across power source. The DC-DC inverter stepping down from high voltage battery will do the heavy lifting powering stuff. Coasting will always be the most efficient way, same in EV where coasting doesn't cost anything in energy conversion. 90% is also what I've heard regarding regen braking. This means assuming no other losses, the 9 kWh you put into accelerating the car (with 10 kWh from battery), you'll get 8.1 kWh back into the battery. But there's always other losses, so in the real world, by the time we've put down 9 kWh, many of which would have been used to overcome rolling/air resistance, etc. How else am I going to get the purse string holder to allow me to buy a good performance car2 points

Wheel size sorry..
2 pointsIf the centre bore is too big, eg. 66.6mm instead of 57.1mm you would have to use spigot rings. Spigot rings are different from spacers, as shown in the photo below. If you don't use spigot rings with a rim that has a hub centre bore that is too big, you could get wheel vibration because the rim might not be centred on the hub. I don't like spigot rings so would never use rims with the wrong hub centre bore. Photo of spigot rings2 points

is dpf/egr still an issue with newer diesels?
The actual enemy of DPF / EGR is short trips and low revs driving all the time. My current MK3 is the 5th TDI at home over last 20 years. They've made something like 400000 km ++ in total. None of them had DPF or EGR issue. A 25-30 drive per tank, and sometimes full throttle at montorway entry helps keeping them healthy.2 points

the truth about electric cars
2 pointsThere are so many different EV,s and there are drivers out there that should be made to resit their tests. A few years ago the amount of Renault Zoe about without lights on in the dark was unreal. Then the MG EV,s from Motability, Peugoets etc with peole who do not indicate or even get pulled out at junctions. There are some really old codgers in the top price ev,s that should be off the road, and younger muppets as well. Same with PHEV,s. It is like New Drivers, or people that have not driven for years get a New EV, maybe a home charger and the world is their oyster.2 points

the truth about electric cars
2 pointsMost first time Tesla drivers are recommended to use "chill" mode to have the "soft start" feel as you've mentioned. It dampens and delays the accelerator response profile. Feels very chilled driving in this mode, whereas standard mode feels nerves and dart-y. Similarly, there's the Eco mode for Leaf, which maps accelerator in an exponential profile rather than default logarithmic growth profile. I think most EV's with drive mode selection will have that kind of switch, as root alluded to. Improved EV high speed efficiency is indeed very important. Maintaining "70"mph uses up a lot more than driving at 70mph. This is how RSymons efficiency test are getting very good numbers, they drive "at speed limit" but often end up in traffic which drives at optimum ~65mph. Also correctly pointed out by 'Name, burst of acceleration doesn't kill range. It's maintaining the speed against rolling resistance and air that pushes back kills the range. The bigger frontal surface area and drag coefficient the worst it's going to get.2 points

the truth about electric cars
2 points@Winston_WoofThey are a good car and people that have good ones are holding on to them. Like your good ladies car, keepers. As to EV performance. Lots of people seem to know all about the acceleration and appear to have not driven the cars. They are not all power all the time. There are BEV,s with modes and some have heavy accelerator pedals in some modes and are not like a hair trigger. Some do shoot of like a scolded cat. But not in default mode when started.2 points

Yeti 1.2 2016 "gearbox overheated. Stop!" - engine warning light
@Tien Welcome. Not related to your question which might well have been a fault code from the battery issue. ? But has your car got a Recall on the DQ200 DSG.? They have done a 3rd or 4th one and now up to 2016 on some in Australia. Best check if yours is part of it.2 points

2 points2 points- the truth about electric cars
2 points- Brake pads replaced after 50k - reasonable distance ?
Ask for pad thickness measurements, not a percentage. If they can't tell you then probably haven't measured them so is up selling waffle. I once had a garage (Seat ex Audi in Twickenham) pull the 80% worn stunt on me, did nothing, following year a different garage said just over half worn. So either they lied, or pads somehow grew back over following year. But mileage is poor indicator of brake use, if live in very hilly area or with lots of traffic lights going to use brakes lot more than someone cruising many miles at constant speed on good road.2 points- diesel volume
2 pointsSomething very very wrong with your diesel if you can notice the difference at all between a journey with a regen and without. The amount of diesel a regen consumes is a lot less than the normal variables of driving e.g wind/wet road surface/temperature etc.2 points- Would you risk buying an L&K ?
2 pointsI have an L&K tdi manual 52k miles from new. Lives on my driveway in all weathers. Not a drip, ever. Regularly cleaned all over with a Karcher. Roof opened and closed regularly in the summer. Last couple of years, I've started to wash through the front drains with a jug of warm water every few months, just in case of any algae starting to gum up the pipes. Not all L&Ks are bad or even will-be-bad in the future. People are more likely to post bad news rather than good. Good luck with your onward search for an SEL but if you do find a dry L&K, it's a very good car (and I've read elsewhere that helicopter tape and fuses out does work).2 points- the truth about electric cars
2 pointsOctopus introducing the "Power Pack" https://octopus.energy/power-pack/ Basically: give Octopus control of your car for at least 12 hours a day every couple of days. You receive free charging up to 333 kWh (~1000 miles) per month totally free. Current only compatible with Leaf and Wallbox V2G charger. As I've been saying, batteries in BEV are part of solution to enable adoption of more unpredictable renweables. We are starting to see the technology trickling to early adopters while EV enter mainstream.2 points- Second Hand Car - Never been Update (Infotainment systems - 1803)
I think so, however they don't seem to be replacing the SOS modules anymore and are applying new firmware to them that have made them stable. I had SOS firmware updated in November 2023 which sorted out the SOS module constantly crashing and then another newer firmware update applied to it only this week for complete stability. The OP should hopefully still be within the manufacturers 3 year warranty so my advise is get the car booked in at the dealership ASAP and get in the Infotainment updated to version 1941 and also get the SOS module firmware updated to the latest version. Once this is done the difference is night and day, I went from the Infotainment / SOS system being terrible to it being pretty much rock solid.2 points- VCDS options on Superb III.FL

But then for some a Fabia vRS Twincharger cost less than a Fabia Monte Carlo with 105 ps, but then you had the lottery of a duff twincharger. Maybe these days are over. or maybe you still can have a Suzuki Swift that handles and is nippy and cheaper than a Fabia that needs a remap..1 point- the truth about electric cars
1 pointWell according to this video from "Just Get a Tesla" the model Y has 15V Lithium-ion battery rather than a 12V lead acid battery and that battery is supposed to be a "Life Time" battery that costs, wait for it, £2,000.1 point- Would you risk buying an L&K ?

1 point90% of what specific energy? How do you get 90% back of the energy used to raise the mass when 25% of it was lost in doing so and another 25ù of the remaining 75% will again be lost? I am not trying to score points, I genuinely would like to know the approx figures, justified ones and not marketing claims, I used to think that coasting downhill was (tyre, transmission, air resistance losses notwithstanding) was cancelling out the extra fuel used on a hilly return journey compared to a flat one but someone on here rightfully pointed out the thermal efficiency of my IC engine and that most of the energy went to heat and not locomotion. I understand that electrical to locomotive (or is it motive?) power transmission is much more efficient, I would like to know what the real savings through regenerative braking etc really are.1 point- the truth about electric cars
1 pointIt constantly surprises me the low level of knowledge. The LED lights that Renault have been using for some years now using about a quarter of the power that the 55/60 watt bulbs car use to use. The traction battery in the XE50 Zoe has (52x60x60) ie 187 M joules of energy. The headlamps are probably taking around 30W. If my maths is correct the traction battery could keep those headlights running for 5 years continuously. Having the headlights on and, or charging your phone in the car aint going to make any real difference to the range. The various dash systems probably take more power than this ie the TFT screens, 9 inch Google maps system could easily be a 100W I suppose but one is still talking small beer. EV's tend to have great displays and when I can cruising along on the Zoe ZE50 the sort of figure I like to see for the motive power usage is 10 to 13 kWh so I know I have about 4 to 5 hours running at that power output perhaps just skimming around the double nickel 55 mph or so and that power usage is 13,000 joules (ie watts) per second to shove the 1.75 tonnes of me through the air, overcome hysteresis tyre rolling resistance (thought to be about a quarter of losses on an EV compared to only a fifth on an ICE cars due to EV's extra weight) and the up hill down dale but I get 90% of that energy back via regen. I think heating is the only major draw, even on a Heat Pump fitted car like the Zoe one might be using 500W or so on a really cold day. Heated seats are very efficient I think. Mine did not get fitted ones as it was a victim of the part shortage so I got a couple of pair of heated seat covers sent over from China, £12 each including freight costs via Amazon, even on low ie sub 30W do not need them to have the cabin set at more than 20C so climate control is only using a few hundred watts at most. Lights set on auto, charging phones etc iva the 4 USB ports it has front and back. Looking forward to the Renault 5 launch in a few days but the Zoe is a hard at to follow, except maybe on looks where the 5 kills it of course.1 point- Driver ventilated seat back not working

1 pointone car I was considering as a replacement for my Ceed (until I started looking at Superbs) was an Ampera/Volt with a REX powertrain. A car that was ahead of it's time but suffers now from spares availability(in the UK) and didn't sell here in great volumes.1 point- Yeti 1.2 2016 "gearbox overheated. Stop!" - engine warning light
Thank you, Rooted. I have read many useful posts here but have never posted before. Thank you for welcoming me. I did checked my car's VIN number on the Skoda website, and it wasn't involved in any recalls related to the DSG gearbox.1 point- Buying an Ex Taxi: is it fraught with dangers
I mean this is nice. It has the 6 speed rather than 7 speed DSG (which If I've read correctly is the wet clutch model) and only 2 owners from new with Full Skoda Service History. MOT history is also good with the vast majority of advisories being consumable tyre/brake related Just the small matter of 240k miles, sky high road tax and thirst for fuel to consider lol1 point- Škoda 2017 SE 1.2 TSI Stage 1 map issues.
1 point- is dpf/egr still an issue with newer diesels?
I've had an Octavia diesel for 10 years (240k km) so far without issues. Never had any problems with the DPF although I do drive quite high mileage. As long as you drive enough to get the engine warm and then maybe 15 minutes more at least once during each tank of diesel its enough to allow a normal regeneration. During the pandemic when I wasn't going to work I've had a message once to say the car cannot regenerate and to see owners handbook (I.e. drive in the highway) and after 5 minutes the warning had gone and didn't come back. SCR adds another level of complexity to newer diesels but is relatively more simple technology than the DPF. You will also find that many new petrol cars will come with SCR to meet every tightening emissions rules.1 point- Coming home lights behaviour
1 pointA 2007 Octavia and 2019 Superb are completely different electrically as they are based on different platforms... With SCR / Adblue you can still get clogged DPF,s and regens and messing about with cold start / short trips. and then the issue some have with AdBlue and the systems. Many might have no issues, but the problem is when you get them. Costs / repairs,. just the PITA really.1 point- the truth about electric cars
1 pointI read that the Swiss department of AXA are behind the report on the 50% figure. I read the Law Firms and Insurers in America using this report. & in an EU report. ? Is it global figures, EU / Europe only, and what are the Statistics from insurers for the UK on this. Are there lots of Americans crashing EV,s with minor or major damage or lots of Europeans? 1 point2 passengers from the Tesla are deceased. https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/inverness/6375998/a96-crash-two-named/ Leaving that sad news to one side is the fact they were in a Tesla really of any significance or is it like the Luton airport carpark fire? And then having written that this is interesting Electric cars are involved in 50% more traffic accidents than their petrol and diesel counterparts, according to a study by insurer Axa. The high number of accidents has actually nothing to do with the technology, but everything to do with the driving behaviour of the drivers. It is mainly the fast and sharp acceleration that surprises drivers, especially those new to the cars, and leads to accidents. https://www.brusselstimes.com/287315/electric-cars-involved-in-more-accidents-than-regular-vehicles-study-shows1 point- Skoda Rapide Sports Service
1 pointLook at the first line of your post, you put 2033, so i posted 2023? We need to assume it is the Annual Service coming up after 9,400 miles or 372 days if it was reset at the last service. But if it was on Variable 2 years ago and not reset 12 months ago then it could be coming up for in 21 days. If the stuff above was done a year ago then it is a Oil & Inspection service needed. Oil & Filter, maybe the pollen filter if not changed last year. The spark plugs are every 4 years or 40,000 miles so not needing done again. The brake fluid every 2 years if it needs changed, it can be tested. The Cam Belt interval is no longer at 5 years or 50,000 miles. more like at @180,000miles, and many many years. You just need a simple Oil & Filter Service and inspection and do not get ripped off and the Service Indicator set to Fixed Service Intervals. Look at the Air Filter and see if clean / fresh, it might need replacing.1 point- 2023 Superb 280tsi DQ381 mapping
1 pointDQ381 with revo software for the box and a pedal box. Makes the car a bit more likely to be in the correct gear, but my usual lazy mode driving still causes the box to be too high when needed on the odd occasion. A lot better than the factory settings, and I can actually use sport instead of extra throttle to be in the correct gear for boost without a heavier throttle causing the sudden lift your speaking of. it’s not perfect, but it’s better than the fuel economy chasing settings the OEM software runs, where I constantly found myself in 7th at 30 and a bit mph with a box that was reluctant to change down on a light throttle input for say, a slight incline.1 point- Alarm going off after locking

Personally i would just give a 1.5 TSI DSG a swerve. Unless an amazing low price which it is not. Double lottery, 1.5 TSI ACT & a DQ200 DSG. See what that FSSH actually is showing as being done since it is the Full History. Oil& Filter changes how often, was it the Pollen Filter in 2021 and again in 2023? Brake Fluid @ 3 years, 2022, or any time. Spark plugs @40,000,80,000& 120,000 miles or when? As to the Cam Belt that did show as being @ 50,000 miles /5 years until last July when that was changed to over the 135,000 miles has done now. The Water Pump was not required as part of the schedule. The cost without Water pump could be as much as from £650- £1,100 or even more. You want to see who did the work and the parts and prices. Are the brakes, tyres, windscreen etc all fine.1 point- New Croatian VRS 236hp 19inches

This happened to me when I replaced the batteries in both keys fobs not long after purchase. I had to synchronise both key fobs one by one. From p57 of the manual: Synchronising the remote control If the buttons on the remote control key have been operated several times beyond the effective range of the system or the battery in the remote control key has been replaced and the vehicle cannot be unlocked using the remote control, the key must be synchronised. › Press any button on the remote control key. › Unlock the door with the key in the lock cylinder within 1 minute of pressing the button.1 point - Tailgate button won't open the boot
