  1. Visited Cragside today.............
  2. Beat the spinning engine cover nut by drilling and tapping an M3 thread in the stud, and sticking a screw in it to counterhold. Credit to workmate Richard for that idea.
  3. They are self composting, actually I hope it should be "were" self composting as touch wood the Yeti one is still intact.
  4. I'm gonna say it's in there, stuck open, just to be contrary 😁 One of us is gonna be right! G
  5. I think it was this supplier as it came really quickly and they're the only ones who say it's send by 24he service. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/326161889484?_skw=skoda+yeti+tiuchscreen&itmmeta=01J7Y46DTMCZ7DKS75ZKRGFV7G&hash=item4bf0c378cc:g:K8AAAOSwx3xma0Bi&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKmF1q42Zod7UAu7ZSup%2BdGPGbwBd0W4%2FIoFr3RfsYLeJQHX0UN2CZ%2Fvgpvkj0ghEXDYM3ZqpiqQSGi8rSsFRDCrZkrYHzVc78K0iDd0UqDDsUJGYPGoSHXV%2BF2Ptdt6ieYpbIubqBosEegjuuYvixL8LBYEZ8iREkE5R4dpdlH7I4ISMRWCqSkUn5Ikdo9g%2B4y8jdiFsjCpN3NPLAYL9asa64DuoNZlLDMLh5UKWK%2FybeeMgRL7DL%2FYwqzMMp906cIRk%2B0z9xn%2BLnE5DogUNQ5xsGuE5%2BM4wEXoj%2Fhut8CMfQ%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR7bdmcS_ZA&edge=1
  6. FWIW this genuine one is made by Bremi, who made it in Germany according to other stamping on far end (also 'BTT'). The 1.186.87 B is what told me Bremi. I paid £33 delivered, including o-ring from an eBay seller. Does seem to work when dunked in boiling water.
  7. Thank you for reply’s After playing around with different wheel and spacer combinations, we’ve discovered that the issue was related to the spacers not being compatible with the inner lip of the alloy we were running. Now running new alloys with different spacers and no problems as of yet thank you
  8. i didnt say they do make them. what i said is dont buy pattern versions of them. ie the non oem, made cheap sold cheap by other companies versions. My sincereliest apologies for making the assumption that everyone else, who has been here and dealt with this type of topic coming up a million times also understood that difference...
  9. 06J 115 403Q £14.40 + VAT across a dealership parts counter. Google images of that confirm that it includes the male threaded part. So yes, yours has left that part behind in the engine upon removal.

As the coding for the swiveling towbar (which was fitted on Aug 12th) were finally supplied by Skoda and installed on Sep 3rd, I've found time and decent weather to provide this photo of my Sept 23 2.0l TSI DSG Sportline, which I purchased at the end of April 2024 with 1100 recorded miles, an Ex Skoda Management car.
  11. 😲 After very nearly 10 years of my faithful Polo; a pal is selling a 57-plate Audi A4 estate with just 107k miles, 1.9 TDI and I am thinking it will be my next car, quite soon! Will feel terrible to lose the Polo, but no room to keep it. Partner wants to hang onto her 05 Fabia, and we'll each drive whichever is most appropriate for the day's journey or task. New house means we're both further away from jobs and friends, so a mile-muncher makes a lot of sense. Never owned a diesel before, but this one is pre-DPF and overcomplicated, inaccessible EGRs; so should be OK to maintain in good health. Didn't see that coming. Although a workmate with a similar commute did say as soon as I moved that I'd be wanting a better/comfier/longer-legged car, which I dismissed in my head at the time.
  12. 2011 superb 2.0tdi. Did not work and nothing happened when pushing the rear heated window button. I suspected cables, but checked fuses and relay first. It was the cable. Cables run from upper right post rear and it was a easy fix. I took down inner trim panels on the rear lid (combi). Unscrew torx 20 at the handle and then use a trim tool to push down on sides. Extremely easy to do. Gives you superb access to everything inside. Cut the wires and reconnect. Fixed and now heated window works again.
  13. I was invited by Skoda to join them on the weekend just gone. Some fascinating discussions, some things I cannot yet share, and lots of foootage to come, including testing the Elroq. I have seen the car without camouflage and it is really good - but they took our cameras away. More to follow but in the meantime.....https://youtu.be/GIfDVofcldE
  14. Seems a bit strange to me, if you have reset the system it should know its normal for that wheel to be rotating faster and only measure each wheel relative to when it was reset
  15. Same on my 1.9TDi Fabia. You'd think they could have used something more resistant to heat.
  16. The same happened to our Octavia. I tried sticking and taping it back together for a while but then gave up.
  17. Thanks. we also come to the conclusion that if we trace the wires from the relevant bits on the old seat and replicate on the new one it’d work. And it does. No airbag light but I do have a seat belt warning. I think we may have forgotten to plug in the rear seatbemt plug on the middle seat….. we’d both had enough by then! The towbar wiring wore us out!!
  18. I've had a look in a Mk4, and think pushing the hand control with my right hand and reaching through the steering wheel with my left hand to select D or R would be possible while stationary, I'm not so sure doing that while on the move to change between D and S would be advisable. I've had 3 automatic cars with manual override with 'flappy paddles' but gave up on using those as I couldn't reach the up paddle when I had the h/c pulled back for the throttle. As per my bio I had a Mk3 hatch ( not had it for 3 years though) and found it ideal for my usage which was mainly a 40 mile run on a dual carriageway and 5 miles in city rush hour traffic where the adaptive cruise and traffic assist made my life a lot easier.
  19. You might as well speak to a drug dealer. But at a Skoda / SEAT Dealership ask for their Motability Specialist, as in the trained sales executive and have them make some effort to get answers. They really only want to push Enyaqs through the scheme though, and know as little about having them adapted for disabled drivers needing hand controls. I know as i have spoken to several 'Motability Specialist' sales executives and now the training they have seems to be anything but 'Simply Clever'.
  20. Hi Fatso, I've been wondering if anyone has got the new Mk4 Superb with hand controls yet due to Skoda moving the position of the gear lever up onto the right hand side of the steering column - the same place that most hand controls go. It's the fact we have to push the brake pedal in order to start the car and put it in gear, but also we can currently use the gear stick to flip it across into "Manual mode" or quickly flick the stick towards us to put it in Sports mode whilst still having our right hand on our throttle/brake. I just can't see how we are going to be able to do these things with the new layout? I have written to Skoda directly about this seeing they have gone down this route with 2 of their models already and suspect remaining models will follow suit as they get replaced / updated. Unfortunately Skoda weren't interested and just apologised that these 2 models don't fulfil my needs as a disabled customer.... I just haven't had the energy to fight this any further, especially as I'm not in a position to purchase a new car yet. What frustrates me is that the Skoda Superb estate has the biggest boot space in it's class and when your a para-athlete in a wheelchair, with all my sports equipment, Triride and my assistant in the car, no other model even comes close.... I've currently got a Mk3 Estate on hand controls and absolutely love it!!! The difference adaptive cruise control and traffic assist makes is amazing and significantly reduces hand control reliance...… Speak to your local Skoda dealer and see what they have to say.... I'll be really interested to hear how you, or any other disabled owner, get on with this new interior layout.
  21. https://www.ecoticias.com/en/china-presents-gac-new-engine/6364/ China has a new electric motor giving a result of 98.5% efficiency compared to today's motors which are around 90% efficient converting the electrical energy to forward motion. This could therefore add 34 kms of wltp range to a 400 km range EV or over 50 kms to a 600 km range EV without any change to the battery or other systems but as we know these other systems are improving several percent per year also.
  22. I think removed is more likely than failed if the car never reaches 90C. Experience with failed 'stats suggests slow warm up, but to normal operating temperature.
  23. I think the problem would be that by the time you put all the battery under the floor then you end up with something that looks like the Enyaq estate.
  24. sorry I forgot to check back here so didn't see this. I will send it in by email though
  25. Would suggest you go into "settings" and try a system reset. If that doesn't work a trip to your Skoda dealer to sort it out would seem the best plan. If it's a new car I would think the warranty should cover any defects ?
  26. You need the wiring diagrams for the two different spec seats. But failing that colour wire maybe enough to depin and repin on new seat. If big black plug is heat only, ignore that for now. Is it thicker gauge wire?
  27. Everytime you will up you will up you send money to despots in the world, bad. You do send about £50 to the government which they desperately need after the last government leaving a £3B national debt. Excise duty on fuel is the most efficient tax to collect and the 5p excise tax reduction and the return to inflation matching rise in excise duty. Getting more trucks and vans over to electric is an important and relatively easy step to lowering CO2 and NOX emissions and hopefully we will see timetable for that in next month's budget. Still waiting to see if UK will put similar countervailing duties on Chinese EVs like Canada, EU and USA has but many countries have not brought in CV duties ie those without lame home based car makers like VAG, BMW and Mercedes to protect.
  28. another shot for @gotthedropshow , some amazing metal on display.
  29. i said i'd try harder for you great award from @driverscollection
  30. At the minute for mib1 high. Always a possibility that something might be put out outside the standard support timescale for the free updates. That's taken to be 5 years onto the last fitting of the mib model. Mib1 standard got that 2023 map update which was 3 years after the regular update period ended. So you never know. Mib2 high is reckoned to go on after 2025 due to Audi TTs still having the unit fitted after 2020. Mib1 high road on the back of the combined production for mib2 high so had that the longer life till they pulled the production of the combined file. At that stage the cut down file came to the other brands in mib2 high form although Audi had always had the three flavours. Just nobody is offering that mib1 high flavour at the minute. 2023 mib1 standard was a special flavour... Ice cream parlour. You never know. That was a paid for update within mapcare well outside the 5 years. They could always do that for mib1 high in the future.
  31. I presume OP is from the UK. Being right hand drive the complaint will be about the middle vents 🙂 Having said that, I found the middle vents annoying at first, but am coming to grips with them. I'm suspecting that in summer they will mostly blow cold air and in winter will not be doing much. Auto setting should then heat the car from the bottom vents.
  32. My man, I feel your pain - but no in the Superb 😜 I am around your weight and size, with long legs. Is not always easy to fit in many cars. The problem you describe is typical in between 'normal' and 'sport' seats for most manufacturers, especially ze Germans. I have driven extensively in my previous cars (Audi A6s), both in the 'normal' seat and the 'sportline' Recaro seats (yes, they still were Recaro's!). The bolsting and support of the sport seat is much better for track/spirited driving, but not much more than that .... and after a while it really becomes numbing. So probably there is not really a problem with the car in itself, it is just you that is not compatible with its seating position, thing that, unfortunately, comes to light after a longer drive. When came time to choose the Superb, I did not even looked at the Sportline, also because of the seats. Unfortunately, in recent years there has been a plethora of "sport editions" from most manufacturers, with a proliferation of s-lines, r-lines, sport-lines, black-lines, and who knows what else, puttting in second aspect the real comfort and instead putting oversize rims, harder suspensions, bolstered seats, questionable trim (black plastic and fake carbon galore!) .... to each its own, but this alienates a part of the market imo.
  33. I've seen one on the road ... oh well 😐
  34. Yes by 370 it became mib2 only, prior the standard release across Skoda, Seat and VW was a combined mib1 / 2 release the installation recognised whether it was mib1 or mib2 and just took the files it required although these were jumbled across directories they called mib1 and mib2 but it did dive across irrespective. Audi released the files in two or three flavours combined, mib1 and mib2 historically. 370 only mib2 as far as what is on the net that I've seen. The three others or one or two then released the same materiel but just built differently with checksums, same data, but still just mib2 only. Why the files reduced from circa 32gb to 17gb or so as they dropped mib1 high support. So you know just by the download it's not a combined file. Now that isn't to say a mib1 high version of 370 isn't out there somewhere. I haven't seen it though. The ones that appear from Audi on sites seem to be the ones from behind the Audi mapcare pay wall. Audi running a pay wall on the VIN whilst others don't. Why Audi owners came to this board for the file link after hacking their navigation life long FeC. The downloads work across the brands.
  35. +1 👍 Micks one's obviously more photogenic. Mine comes through somewhat akin to the Millennium Falcon making the jump to light speed 🙄 We only had one sunflower this year, the rest were eaten by slugs and snails. It's just made it above our 6' garden wall, so can watch the Sun go down: Gaz
  36. i did side step and weren't happy about result - together with Eibach Pro + Bilstein B6 Damptronic were replaced also top mounts: Front FEBI 40171 + FEBI 44799 which i replaced later to Arteon's OEM 5WA 412 331 A + Superb's OEM 5Q0 412 249 E Rear Bilstein 12-281459 i had to replace to old used OEM 5Q0 513 353 E
  37. At the moment, the way things are going, the only way you'll be able to buy a new car in the UK could be like the Tesla model, direct from the makers, dealers will become a thing of the past. That said, I really think the bubble is going to burst, and the whole net-zero thing will be scrapped and there will be legislation introduced to continue with ICE as an option but with a mandate to drive down the emissions, which was already happening in the first place. EVs will be just become an option that people can choose if they wish, and then market forces will prevail and the buying public will decide which option best suits their needs and ambitions.
  38. Not used the Superb much over the last couple of weeks, so no update. However, I did a trip to Carlisle from St Andrews and back last Thursday, so about 360 miles all in. No indication of any problems, so it looks like the new battery has fixed it. Good to know, as I would never have thought of it, as the battery was starting the car with no bother at all, and nothing picked up on its annual service. Thanks to all who contributed to this thread, and came up with the solution.
  39. Had to change both fronts on my 2024 Karoq this week - making an horrendous noise - delivered 1st July, just 10 weeks ago, less than 1000miles. Very poor quality the OEM ones - Bosch are by far superior.
  40. I wish I had read this thread before ordering a rear wiper blade for my 2022 Karoq. The vast majority of on line sellers state the A 331H is the correct wiper but it is not. I ordered this and managed to get a refund from the seller but with some difficulty. I then went into my local independent motor factors who looked things up on their computer. They pulled off a picture of the correct blade (A335H) and checked it against the wiper fitted by Skoda. It is an exact fit and is much improved on the OEM part. So A335H is the correct wiper from around mid to late 2021 which is when the car was facelifted I believe. Part of the problem is that sellers quote a part number but show a picture of a different part. No wonder we all get confused.
  41. Hi; As promised, I am reporting back on the charging issues following the software update. Pleased to say that having had the car back at the dealer, it now seems to be working OK and interacting as pre-software update with my Zappi. Dealer wouldn't acknowledge that the solutions offered on this forum were correct but they also didn't offer any alternative explanations ! So thanks to all those who responded to this thread.
  42. Good news. Had an email from the dealer this morning. Apparently, my car is at the port awaiting a ship!
  43. Looks a cracker 😎 I don’t see boring. I see hell yeah, my kinda car Gaz
  44. It's mine now. I got the rear brakes done today. Thought for a little while I wasn't going to get the new discs in without taking the carriers off, but managed it with a bit of bodgery. 😁 MOT booked for Thursday.
  45. 1 point
    this makes me sad 😞
  46. Driver's side wire breaks tend to be more common simply because that door is used every time the car is driven. Other doors' usage levels - and so wear tear on their wiring - will vary with usage patterns. Could well have breaks both sides though.
  47. Thank you so much! 3 broken wires now soldered back together and heat shrink wrapped and a working passenger wing mirror!
  48. I've always seen the change intervals as a guidance, anyway. As if they were to snap early out of warranty then that would be up to the individual to foot the bill. I'm pleased I don't have one of the more modern wet belts to pay for & they seem more problematic with certain manufacturers. I've owned mainly vauxhalls since the 80's on, decided to switch to Skoda a few years ago, hoping for better reliability than the recent Stellantis rubbish. Have you had many reports of snapped belt with the 1.5tsi on here? Although as you've pointed out with the water pump, I'd expect those could fail first. I like my 1.5tsi engine & especially now it's fitted to a wagon, just took me a while to get there. Thanks for the info.
  49. On the tsi it always was lifetime with visual inspections after about 210,000km (130000 miles) but Skoda uk put a 5 year time interval on so there was still some maintenance money to be had from the cars in aftersales. As the tsi engine has developed, changing the belt has become more and more of a technical job and even more complicated and expensive special tools have been needed. I wouldn’t mind betting a good few engines have been made worse by incorrect timing belt installation, and the hybrid cars need ev qualified technicians which are in short supply or even non existent at many dealers. No doubt the engineers at VAG said why are you messing with these belts which have been designed to last and the drive system for them designed to reduce belt stress ? Personally I wouldn’t worry about a timing belt on a ea211 tsi engine before it was 10 years old unless it had starship mileage. Within our family I have also maintained a Vauxhall (10 year/100,000mile interval) belt changed at 10 years on 110,000 miles and a Ford (8 year/80,000 mile interval) belt changed at 9 years on 60,000 mile. Both those manufacturers engines have water pumps driven off the timing belt which is a weak point. The ea211 tsi’s have the water pump driven by a separate belt at the other end of the engine so the main timing belt is unaffected by pump failure.
