  1. Skoda UK and my UK dealer says the update comes out today. I am waiting to see!
  2. On closer scrutiny, there's a non-return valve right at the servo, in the bit at the end of the vacuum pipe that plugs in through a grommet. Will have to wrestle that out and test it.
  3. Noticed i didn't update this after street weekend. Was eventful. On the cover Made it to pod and in line first day was just to get a number on the board don't want to break it on the first run but sadly just after my run it started raining and the day was called off. Did hang back to help a friend with his car get it sorted so by the time we left it had dried up and the stance with the new suspension seems to better good. First Stop was Skegness Pier eventful drive with all the rain, complete storm out Next Checkpoint was the Viking Way Cafe Then onto Melbourne Raceway, Noticed that there wasn't much meth left in the tank after the pod run and after talking to the guys at darkside as we were confused how it's using alot of meth i stepped it down a nozzle number to reduce the flow and refilled the tank. First Run was up against a Commer Van with a B204 Second run was against my friend Abi's Abarth you can see from the video with the torque steer it was pulling itself all over the place about 11 seconds in Noticed the 0-60 out the corner of my eye and it managed a 5.15 fastest its ever went Then noticed the meth light on...used 4.5 litres in 2 1/8 mile runs so something not right here and it's not leaking definately going through the engine. Time for the next stage of the road trip, first stop was the motorist. Then down to Great Northern Classic's and back to pod First run was up against my friends michael and dale from spotted motors in their Cortina, No meth just to get a time on the board. Sitting 2nd overall in Diesel and there was someone with another fabia climbing up the table and getting closer to my average so took it in line for another run with the meth turned on which ended like this launch was awful, got into 2nd wheelspin, put it into 3rd to run out the wheelspin and could hear it misfire and before my brain could tell my foot to lift off there was a bang. Turned it off pulled over to the side. Once stopped turned it over to be met with it free spinning and no compression. Marshall came over and asked if it was driveable told him no i think its blew the engine. He had a quick look under and said it wasn't leaking. Opened the bonnet to find the bolt that holds the injectors had snapped and fired the injectors out of the engine breaking all the leak off pipes, bending the hardpipes and denting the bonnet. Again from the trackside pictures it looks like the meth was overfueling and created too high a cylinder pressure. still managed to secure 2nd over all in diesel behind a 450bhp 435D Thankfully Darkside were on the drive home and they said to drop it off on the way home which lucky another competitor i was with stuck it on their truck up to darkside then took me back home to scotland. End result in the damage was 2 new injectors, new leak off pipes and a new rail and hardpipes. Still best modified car event there is in the uk

Rather moist drive to Wellington and back a couple of weeks ago.
  5. Hello there, fellow Skoda Mk III drivers. I recently had the driver's side sun visor clip break off. I know this is a common issue, and also that you can't source the clip separately from the sun visor itself – it has to be a complete replacement. The 'correct' replacement sun visor listed online for the Skoda Mk III seems to be inexplicably expensive, even on eBay (often between £40 and £80). Being of a thrifty nature, I had a hunt around and found a VW part that looked like it had an identical clip, so I took a punt on it for less than £20 and it fitted perfectly – the clip and visor dimensions were indeed exactly the same as for the Skoda, so it popped right in. It comes with a cable poking out of the middle of the clip for the illuminated mirror, so just snip the cable off and you're good to go. Just search for VW part number 5GG857552. Hope this helps someone save some wonga!
  6. Your gut was sort of right, many VAG models started with electro-mechanical steering racks as far back as 2004, some models had electro-hydraulic as well, as in the Fabia/polo
  7. @AlexNec Hopefully others that can help will be along as far firing up the engine. (typo) Which country are you in where it is recommended to warm up fluids before you actually start driving, and what sort of ambient temperatures are you talking about ? If a car is clear of snow and ice and ready to drive in the UK even in cold weather starting the engine and driving off taking it easy is absolutely fine rather than sitting idling and warming up a petrol or diesel engines coolant / oil.

"Breathing space" 'Re-imagine strategy" "exuberant, compelling and disruptive brand" "Lets reposition the brand to hark back to our glory days" (reworded) Those will go down in history as Jaguars famous last words and will be required reading for MBA courses etc.

You used to be able to recognise a Jag. Now they're mum tanks that look like every other Nissan.
  10. The VW group main dealer diagnostics is called ODIS. Independent garages can purchase it on a subscription.
  11. Just a quick update—I went ahead and replaced the ballast, and the light is working perfectly now! Thanks for the advice and suggestions, especially about being cautious with the high voltage and testing things first. For anyone doing this in the future, I had to use an old credit card to release the clips attached to the ballast—it made the job much easier. Really glad I was able to sort this out. Cheers!
  12. Thanks for this Steve, an easy solution to a problem that shouldn't be there, you must have "RTFM" 😂
  13. Personally, I'd hold out until Carlsberg started making them 😁

Rusty has been allowed back into the garage!
  15. As everyone else has a picture thread for each model, I thought we could have our own on here too. Photos to inspire, and share with other. Would like to see everyones Super B's (Superb for Gizmo) on here too! I'll start with my v6 4x4 Twindoor in Mocca Brown, with Ivory interior Standard so far, not quite sure what the plan is... I've owned it for about 8 weeks now, and I love it!
  16. Kit ordered, hopefully on the way soon. Hopefully VCDS will be successful doing a DCC Adaption! VCDS MQB DCC Adaption Method
  17. ^^^ Heated screens defrost the glass quicker and you can nearly drive straight away without idling the engine for ages waiting to get heat as in 'The good old days'. With EV,s we can use the phone app and pre-condition from the comfort of a building and no tail pipe emissions.
  18. I currently live in Romania, but in the area where I live, the temperatures are usually much lower throughout the year, and especially during winter. So far, this year, the lowest recorded was about -9, but I am expecting even lower temperatures in Dec/Jan. As you said, I am taking it easy when I take off, but this is more like my usual driving style, if I can call it like that. You kinda guessed right, I have heard that this might be a recommended practice for petrol/diesel engines, however if that's not the case here, then probably I should disregard this kind of concerns that aren't really concerns. "Modern engine longevity owes a lot to the use if heated front and rear screens in winter." - might sound dumb, but how the longevity of the engine is related to the use of front and rear screens in winter?
  19. You know that or you have heard it repeatedly trotted out as received wisdom based on practices of 50 years ago? My experience is that engine life is maximised through the shortest warm up time with the engine under load and not idling, I'm not talking about driving away flat out from a cold start but engines are run in under load on a dyno and never left to warm up at idle speed. Modern engine longevity owes a lot to the use if heated front and rear screens in winter.

Agree, I had the same conversation with him because I wanted to change to 5W30 after the 3rd 1L "top-up" after 21k km However, the garage is "monitoring" the consumption at the moment and has checked for leaks around the engine and into the exhaust system 3 times plus paid for the additional oil so I didn't push too hard. As mentioned I plan to change to 5W30 in the future once they stop giving me free oil at least for one fill to see if it improves the oil consumption (and doesn't affect the fuel consumption).

I always do this. As you say, it makes for a smoother stop. Wiith a manual its easy to gradually ease off the brakes as you slow down, and come right off as you come to a halt. The first time i tried this with a DSG, I found it took a bit of getting used to, to make a smooth stop without having the clutch partially engaged, then applying full brake to completely disengage.
  22. Dealer only. Someone said it took 6 hours to be loaded.
  23. I did have one diesel B6 A4 (a 1.9TDi Sport GmbH Avant) - I remember there always being some residual vacuum that took several presses of the brake pedal to 'use up'. Sounds most like a vacuum leak or faulty non-return valve to me - but you've checked those, and if the brake pedal does gain assistance when the engine is running I *think* that rules out a faulty vacuum pump or servo diaphragm (but I could be wrong). BTW I did once manage an average of 75mpg on a tank of normal diesel, but I was driving 'like a granny' 😂
  24. It's in the boot, under the spare wheel, so is in just about the cleanest place it could be 👍
  25. @Gaz you don't necessarily need a more expensive AGM (that should really have more insulation if fitted in the engine bay) rather than an EFB if you just do very occasional driver maintenance on the new battery which you will also need t do on the AGM battery as well, plus you will need to have the AGM 'coded' correctly if changing to AGM. More details can be given if required. Plus you might be able to successfully recover your existing battery for longer good use if you want to. I think the VW 'Owner's Manual' might tell you to take the car for a drive to charge the battery (or is that BMW?) but as you have found this often isn't enough.
  26. Had a look at the air filter this morning. Installed in July, it honestly looked brand new. No dirt on it or in its housing area.
  27. VCDS is the new name for Vagcom (after VW threatened Ross-Tech with copyright infringement for using the letter combination V.A.G) so no Vagcom/VCDS has never been official VAG software. It's been written independently by Ross-Tech from the very beginning.
  28. If M&S made tyres they would always be out of stock in one's size. (As are the SF3s now, and the tyre trade is not expecting more till the new year.)
  29. that whole list were done by using OBDEleven 1.Gen as mentioned in the head post of thread
  30. yes, provided u have the PRO or ULTIMATE plan.
  31. I call it “how it should be”. Honestly, started on S+, moved up to R+ within about a week. Never taken it out since
  32. Hi, 2.0 tdi (ea288, CUNA), 240 kkm, 50-50 city/highway. Approx. Every ~300 km. Some times intervall is shorter. I guess it depends how it has been driven after last one (cold short city trips vs highway). No additives.
  33. Unfortunately this is not a repair that can be done without access to the car. Having said that, 4 hours is not that bad! It'll be a day out and you'll not only get the issue resolved but also save a small fortune! Skoda dealers do not tend to 'repair' things like this. They can only replace major components which is why the cost is so high. The £1,600 mentioned is just for the replacement part required, excluding any labour (and more importantly, know-how)! SNS will be well worth the visit. As you will have read on many of the Google etc reviews, there is a comfortable customer area with Wi-Fi and 'proper' coffee. Also, dog friendly with a park and high street within a 10 minute walk!
  34. Correct 👍 These r the relevant Eibach Pro-kit springs part numbers.
  35. It's about as useful as lane assist and that SOS message that randomly pops up. I turn them off before moving off, the SOS I have to ignore until I turn the ignition off but that's another story/thread.😁
  36. I found unlock just drivers door, driver and rear door on drivers side or all doors so in the end I just went for unlock all doors as seemed to work every time.

I have kept digging for answers, Another possibility to force a reboot of the infotainment and simcard system is to remove fuses 12 and 17 in the dashboard fusebox for a few minutes. But I cannot find confirmation that it works. Or if it will create other problems.

Just wanted to say hi. Picked up our Fabia Estate Monte Carlo yesterday. Very pleased so far! This looks like the place to be for Skoda help, so looking forward to being part of the community. 👍 cheers, Paul
  39. If head gasket problems are suspected, best advice as a first check is to test coolant with a combustion products test kit.

Morning folks, recently bought my first Skoda, Race blue Octavia VRS (2008). Gave it it's first decent run up north and back to visit my parents and love it so far Got a few questions already...

Hi folks. It's been around 8 years, but I'm back now. With a new ( to me anyway) Skoda Superb. Looking forward to catching up and finding out what's what.
  43. EuroKneecap is increasingly obsessed with "controlling injury in a collision" rather than preventing the collision in the first place.
  44. I had in front of me the other day a newish KIA Sportage. I was looking at its butt and noticed the clean lines in the upper half (above the beltlne). Then I realised this is because some dimwit moved the entire set of turn signals/hazards/reverse lamp to the BOTTOM of the car, on the bumper ... And I windered ... how do these cars pass the ever ending restrictive regulations in Europe and get full marks stars and whatnot in the silly euroncap rating system? Some more seconds passed, and then, crawling forward, I noticed that in bumper-to-bumper traffic, these lights positioned so stupidly become literally "invisible" which means you have NO IDEA what the vehicle in front will do! Mind you, I was not on a lorry, but on a K12 Micra .... I wonder what pretense of safety concepts could be promoted when adopting such a whim of design.
  45. Typo corrected inline, bold caps.
  46. Hi! New to the forum. Since 2018, I am the happy owner of a Superb II 2013 2.0 TDI L&K, DSG. It currently has 250k km, and my goal is to keep it going for as long as possible. The interior and mechanically, it feels as solid as the first day. Aesthetically, it has a number of battle scars, and I don't plan to do anything about it. The reason I love the car is that it is incredibly practical, economical, and that I choose to not worry much about it. If if gets another scratch, I just shrug and move on. So that's why I post the picture below: In its most practical form, the Superb after carrying four people and their paddleboard gear and picnic stuff:
  47. My new to me, March 30th 2013, 1.6 TDI SE+ with 58,900 miles on the clock
  48. my 2010 170 tdi dsg.fitted with the v6 exhaust
  49. Good morning all, New owner here (less than 24hrs) So far so good. A little different to my modified MK3 MX5 😂
