  1. Elon Musk can lose 99% of his personal wealth and very likely be a wealthy man as long as he lives, as will be his nearest and dearest. 'Tariff' might well be his favourite word as well as his bestie. Good cars as far as cars go, and a good charging infrastructure in the UK. I understand those that do not like or want a Tesla, but anyone that wants rid of one because of him are cutting off their nose to spite their face IMO.
  2. New (to me) '71 plate iv Sportline Plus.
  3. Superb IV was serviced today, and the garage asked 'why have you for two extended warranties'? I have only just renewed after receiving an email from Skoda two weeks ago saying 'Your extended warranty is running our, please renew' which I did. I trusted them. But my garage said the first one (including servicing) didn't actually run out until November, so I'd be paying for two. They gave me the number of VW Finance, who confirmed the initial policy, which runs to November. But they said they were unaware of the second. However they said Skoda do their own extended warranties, nothing to do with VW Finance, (and gave me their number) as actually do a third sanctioned private company on Skoda's behalf. All say Skoda extended warranty, and come with their letters, emails, marketing books. Nice chap, Abdullah, was very sympathetic, up to the point of actually helping (typical 'Customer Services' in other words). So I rang Skoda direct, and yes, it was their email I received last month and which I signed up to. I asked 'Why did you say my extended warranty was running out' when it wasn't. They explained they couldn't see the VW Finance one and the 'Your warranty is expiring' is simply a marketing ploy, true or not. I've cancelled this new policy, but it feels like another con, and many thanks to Winchester Motors for spotting it. And black mark, another, for Skoda for having duplicate systems which can't see each other, and conning customers. You've got to be so sharp these days.
  4. @lol-lol More likely that they die before ever being bust. If you think you have your pension and taxes sorted then so do they. You really have no idea just how many little fingers The Donald has in so many pies. Globally. He loves making Tax losses. Spending others money.
  5. Didn't get a pic but was passed the street by an AM [I think] DB11 or Vanquish. It was pretty, not old school AM pretty, but sounded like god gargling granite.
  6. 2 points
@JXR Thanks for the info, if only the Owners Manuals were more detailed. For the nearly a year I've had the 'Show Map on Dashboard' ticked and had to either stop to select a different previous destination from the touch screen OR attempt to talk the 'OH' (who doesn't even have a smart phone) tthrough the touch screen options! So I'm going to choose something else for the centre display on the VC. On that subject I found an item I'd not seen/heard of before (can't find it in the manual either). In Driving Data (where you can choose from Oil Temp, Water Temp. Speedo, Overview etc) is something called Conv Consumer. This gets displayed as Convenience Consumer -it has a horizontal bar graph, which appears to be showing 'amount' used and underneath a list of the things contributing to the amount used. In my car it listed Heated Door mirrors and Air Conditioning, because both were switched on at the time, I switched the HRW on and that was added to the list. Havent had it displayed long enough to determine precisely what the 'amount' being measured is - but I'm guessing maybe Carbon usage or kw of power.
  7. According to Skoda Media UK a new electric car will be unveiled at this weeks annual Financial result's presentation (Thursday morning) Last year (March 2024) was Elroq, so will March 2025 be Epiq ? https://skodamedia.com/releases/1564
  8. Like Donald Elon could go bankrupt in on or more of his businesses. His family have been been dumping their shares in huge chucks. If, say the car business, becomes so unprofitable, as seems to happening, then a point is reached, like with Nissan now, that the supplier contracts for batteries etc which they just cannot fulfil as car demand has spiralled downwards then Musk may just choose to walk away from TESLA or more likely sell it so his toxicity is no longer affecting the brand, it would be a good buy for one of the three big US brands or even outside the industry. Tesla could then continue its journey. Like with Trump seeing one of the business go bust effectively, Trumps has had 3 or is it 4 bankruptcies, does affect ones future investment as one gets a reputation for being toxic in the money markets. Arthur Andersen, Enron, Madoff all thought too big to fail but now in the history books as super massive collapses.
  9. Tesla shares 11/03/24 $177.77 10/03/25 $225.66
  10. I have been wondering what i would say to Geoff of Worcescsestershire if I say him, nothing nice i am sure. Leach comes to mind but then I knew a nice customs officer called Geoff Leach, can't remember the spelling but it would sound the same.
  11. No tensioner. They're a pain to change as the pulley on the balance shaft has to come off. Pretty much impossible without a good deal of disassembly. Its a toothed belt and is not highly loades. Often, they are not replaced even with the water pump due to the pita nature of it.
  12. Hi everyone! Date of registration: 2015 Colour: Rallye green Options fitted: 3-Spoke multi function leather steering wheel With control for radio and telephone Climate control air conditioning Front Armrest RCD330 head unit. Aftermarket automatic headlights. Subaru XV wheels. Photo(Optional)
  13. Light bulb moment this week when, after nearly a year of ownership, I discovered the correct way to use the bag hooks in the boot. After putting the bag handles over the hook, twist the hook upwards to prevent the handles coming off the hook. This stops the bags from falling over. It is Simply Clever .............
  14. It will probably fail the MOT with the light on.
  15. Gremlins ............. Not the furry little buggers either, Lol. Put it down to that and carry on.
  16. I totally get the point, but when doing this job at home, on axle stands there is nothing to tie down to. Slow and steady, keep checking everything and have the front of the car chocked, ideally both front wheels on the car just in case. The problem might come if the front is also on a stand, but the golf was on a stand under the main big front subframe bolt of the rear console bush and there was no worries of it moving.
  17. If it is true that China (The Peoples Republic) is buying TESLA shares fronted by others that is interesting or is it just Fake News. Buying while at a low is Simply Clever as long as there is not going to be a crash. Maybe a better bet than VW Shares.
  18. Hi, thanks for your reply, 75kg references dynamic load 75kg, static load tends to be 3-5x higher but mostly never confirmed for most cars
  19. Very possibly the Supercharger is disabled. Water pump / Supercharger Clutch. It should be coming in at 2,800 - 3,500 rpm with the Turbo and no turbo from 3,500 rpm.
  20. Rainy and cloudy today, supposed to be sunny and warm tomorrow and for the next few days.
  21. Yes I got an ac advisory on my service report from few weeks ago. Air filters and cabin filters, I always ask, mostly never done. I just do them myself. Actually I did get asked about an air filter... Price was 69pounds lol
  22. @peewee I agree 1 million percent. & that is no exaggeration. But before the new Advice / Guidelines in 2023 the Dealership and VW / Skoda UK would have been saying 5 years / 50,000 miles when other Dust Free Countries were @ 130,000 miles. I just wonder where the Dealership staff you spoke to came up with 120,000 miles. ........................ 60,000 mile / 6 year Interval Air Filters ridiculous but many service techs will not check. & Total missing the VAQ diff servicing interval in the Skoda UK chart. . Sunroof service offer seldom done, they prefer to Up Sell AC Servicing & Brake 80% worn advice.
  23. I know, but thats was done before I bought a scissor lift....so, I had to improvise and adapt...
  24. I cannot say that I have noticed an issue when crawling in traffic. The car just seems to accept the fact it has to go slowly.
  25. Correct, you can find a suitable spot on the subframe to use your jackstand. Or even better a suitable spot where the subframe is mounted to the chassis.
  26. As it's an interference engine, not sure I'd be happy with relying on a "probably" comment...
  27. Liked this....... The Tesla chainsaw massacre stock market valuation, it is now halved I gather.......... And even on Elon's X, he is pro free speech it is good to see below ....
  28. Essex County Council Communications Team· 15 hrs ago The first residential electric vehicle chargers in Essex have now been installed ⚡ The chargers, which are located on Moulsham Street in Chelmsford and Wimpole Road in Colchester, are the first of 66 for the county with more points to be installed over the next six months. They have been funded by £236,000 from the Government’s residential charge point scheme and it is hoped they will help to encourage more residents to swap to an electric car 🚗
  29. Ok, so I think I've managed to answer my own question..on the EcoTune website is a package which is pretty much bang on what I'm trying to do. A Garrett Powermax stage 1 turbo, without doing any of the extras like intercooler, downpipe, etc. Just the Turbo, an air filter and a remap. Should yield around 400 GGs which is around my target. Kind of thinking maybe I'll do the fuel pump.. maybe not, we'll see.
  30. “She’s a witch! Burn her!” Good enough for the shots you took.
  31. And you sure that whole diff needs replacement and not just the bearing? A lot cheaper to do bearing than whole diff... 4x4 Parte4x4 Parte - Haldex rear differential repair kit 2..4. and...Set of bearings / repair kit for the rear differential with haldex coupling of 2nd, 4th and 5th generations of VW Group vehicles.Done this repair myself and it is not difficult. Did not do the pinion gear, but that is often not the problem.
  32. Like @Danoid I have a SEL running on 235/40/19 tyres with standard suspension and agree that the ride was comfortable and reasonably quiet. then I had Michelin Cross climate2s all round and this has given the ride quality a big lift now very stable and quiet If anyone has 19 inch rims running on Bridgestone OEM tyres and are finding them very loud change to All season tyres and see ( and hear!!) the difference
  33. No worries - seems from the coal face that the price differential doesn’t epitomise its reputation but a few mm difference in the side wall is the main thing.
  34. You need to make sure 'Navigation' is selected for the centre display on the VC but make sure 'Show map on dashboard' is unticked. Also, make sure you're not navigating anywhere. Then just scroll down (don't press) on the silver scrolly thing and you'll see a list of recent destinations. Hope that makes sense!
  35. You would need to inform insurance company as it’s a change
  36. Don't put different sized tyres at the same time!! U either stick to 235/40/19 tyres on all 4 corners, or u change all 4 corners to 245/40/19 tyres at the same time. Don't have 2 of each type. Insurance will b void, and ur ABS will not b happy, hence it will disable some of the assist systems, including ACC.
  37. Happy days. Text received today to confirm BT Openreach here to install Full Fibre Broadband on Friday forenoon. Over 18 in house permission to drill hole in wall required etc etc, video to watch. 'Do i want to cancel?' Just now a TXT received. Cancelled Friday appointment now on 23rd April. 'Do i want to cancel?' NO I DO NOT. I Called SKY to say i got £20 credit last month and this month it is £43 to pay. The gent explained that scaffolding is not for the house it is for the Pole. Permissions required from land owner. Well the pole is now on the edge of the field behind with a Millennium Forest line of trees as part of Paths for All. (Paid for from the Commonwealth Games Shooting being held at Barry Buddon back when.) The Fields are owned i think now by American Aggregates and the local quarry will be expanded into the fields. Handy that the Trees are up and save them having to screen the quarry... So i will not cancel the request for the Full Fibre installation because the compensation of £6 a day is still running from the first cancelled installation date of the 14th February. I bet BT Openreach would like people to cancel, it is them paying compensation not SKY according to the Customer Services guy @ SKY.
  38. UK is a Dust Free Country. 120,000 miles or 135,000 miles does make sense, but it does need done by someone with allthe gear and more than ideas. Below 1.5 TSI ACT. TDI,s might well be different. Check engine codes.
  39. I'm only going off a few comments that I've seen in this forum, not my own experience....yet! I'll report back here when I've decided what to put on and I get it done. Thanks for the 245 tip, I'll check out if the prices are much different here.
  40. Hi, yes as above, I would service the car plus all filters and skodas new parameters on cambelt change is 120000,so that's a must....
  41. If the cam belt had been done before the Service Interval / Recommendation / Advice from VW / Skoda changed in June 2023 to many more miles than 120,000 it would have cost anything from around £900 - £1,200, maybe not done. I would be looking at the air filter every years and changing if required. Pollen filter clean / vacuum area, change as needed, that might be every 2 years, location location location.
  42. People post and others might have know (spelling edit) idea where in the world they are talking about prices unless they say where.
  43. You will also find that even removing all of the resonators, in a post-2019 GPF model, will make little difference to the 'enjoyable' sound of the engine. Rather, it will just increase interior NVH. Generally speaking, with GPF models, you either deal with the stock sound, or take a visit to Milltek/Scorpion/Remus/etc
  44. @MarkyTDI thanks for shearing this. When I had to do the research and decision what car to take - Superb 3 with Continental turbo and possibility to be tuned easily, or Superb 4 with horse power decrease and not so easy to be tuned. That petrol engine with 265p.s is presented in Audi A5 since 2022. The reasons why I picked up Superb 4: - This year, I turned 40 years as an person. Till now, i did not tune any car that I had. Why this? I never drive like in a race. - With the current Octavia 3 and petrol engine with 190 p.s is more than enough for me. lacking of comfort when I need to drive more than 500 km for the day, is the issue with that Octavia. It's a bit noisy, the climatronik control is not very good especially during the hot summer. - I prefer t have more comfort instead of horse power, the power that eventually i will use lower than 10% of my time. 265p.s are more than enough to travel in safe. - I had in the past Superb 3, with 2.0 TDI 190p.s, and am pretty aware what to expect from the car as comfort, interior and exterior. - Superb 4 is on another level, than Superb 3 in terms of comfort, noise etc. Just the fact, it's coming with 4 windows that are doubled with noise cancellation. Build in additional cooler for the DSG, even you do not order it with a hook for trailer. Better noise isolation , interior materials etc are much better for Superb 4. The seats are much more comfortable than these in Superb 3. - The prices for Superb 3 280p.s used for one year or less, it is close to get brand new Superb 4 265.ps - By the book, Superb 265p.s is with 0.3 seconds faster than Superb 3 280p.s for the distance 0-100. For the distance 100-200 Superb4 is slower by 1 sec than Superb 3. In real life, you will never find that 1 second as an issue, or 2-3 seconds, I think. That's why, for my case, I preferred to go with Superb 4. Will see in the future how it will perform that Superb 4. as of now, will keep and the Octavia, just for any case 😉 @Ootohere thanks for sharing this. I have the same in the book with the instruction. Driving within 3-5k rpm .... for a brand new car, with less than 10 kilometers on the clock ...
  45. Last time i heard that excuse was when A-76 was not sold anymore and Moskwitch owners were panicking because they could only buy A92 or 95E fuel... i have ran all of my cars on 98E only, from 1966 audi and same era moskwitch up to Mk3 and Mk4 1.5TFSi Superbs. No problem at all.
  46. @Mateusz-Warsaw Welcome to the forum. If things are different by Country / Region you will need to let others know once you find how to.
  47. Our 2018 SE has AA and works fine so don't think it's an age thing. Have you reset the system by pressing and holding the on off button on the infotainment as that usually sorts ours when it gets a bit stroppy. Otherwise it could be the USB socket playing up?
  48. Mine's a 2016 190 diesel and this was my consumption after a trip to Lithuania from Brecon in May/June earlier this year.
  49. I don't get the spend lots on car audio movement. Sorry to say, but I am not a fan of cars on the road providing travelling noise polution. I much prefer those who keep their audio to themselves. Personally I don't see much point in spending 1000s on audio in a car which will always be a compromised envirnonment for quality sound. I know some seek volume above everything else. They will perhaps enjoy sound in middle to later life throgh hearing aids. Some very good digitally tunable ones ont there now. In terms of sound in a car, unless high end sound and noise cancellation has been built in from the start as with very high end motors. The aim of which is not normally sound but its elimination. The result may be better than stock but will always disapoint if purity and perfection is requied. We all have Personal choice and everyone is different but expensive audio in an average average car is not how i'd spend my money but I fully respect you choice to do so if that is your thing. Enjoy your modifications. its intersting to see what others do. 👍
