Depends which aspect of performance you wanted. Better go usually means better stopping is advisable so you could get some better discs and pads; not necessarily bigger but drilled/grooved will stop heat fade so much; ceramic pads are lower dust as well as better performing over original. And braided brake hoses will stop any loss of brake fluid pressure albeit under relatively heavier/more sustained braking. Rear anti-roll bar is useful to keep the rear from rolling if you’re going round some bends enthusiastically. Otherwise, depends on budget and what you want - drop in a v8 lump? 😬

Exactly, but will they do that, no of course not, money talks, which makes a complete mockery out of all the waffle we are being told about net-zero and harmful emissions, especially when you consider that it is claimed that those plants in Indonesia are spewing out more harmful emissions than the whole of Mexico and in addition to that the sheer scale of the deforestation that is going on there to extract the nickel, when we really also badly need trees etc in order to process the vast amounts of CO2 being produced. It does make you wonder about the ethics of the whole green thing is being just one big con to help make a lot of money for certain people, and loads of people may be accepting backhanders to assist the propagation of the con. That is not to say that electric could well be the future, but not at the current pace.

Terrible. And the nickle is not just for lithium batteries, for the catalysts in green hydrogen production and high performance alloys used in wind turbines and solar panels. Its really mean being green. Also being mineral or oil & gas rich and wiping out people all around the world to get the land and resources. So having my Enyaq a few weeks now (had 6k miles on it from new) I've got a door rattle/squeek in the drivers side and seemingly have one that is also in the centre of the dash behind the screen - that when it gets going is really bad! I've videoed it as well. The door rattle is going back to Skoda but doubt they will do the dash whilst I wait - that could be a big job! anyone else suffered stuff like this at all? what did you do or have done to resolve it? Also the Canton system is atrocious! I've come from an Audi black edition and you can't even turn up this system without the speakers distorting - I've even got the MAXX pack with upgraded system - how on earth can it be improved? Rich

Cor, what a mission to replace the air filter on a 1.4 TSi when the air box is situated on the top of the engine. Two nasty pipe clips to remove, a breather pipe, 2 cross head screws and 4 clips - just to get to the air filter. A tip, is to certainly remove the whole box and do this out of the engine bay. After removing the pipe clips you might as well remove the breather pipe also and take the whole thing out. It can be tricky to fit the new element in nice and square too - I guess this depends how OCD you are and whether you might the edges of the filter being kinked etc The car had two Skoda main dealer services and both times the filter was left, the car is now 21k. Check how black/dirty it was. It was certainly worth the hassle of replacing it. MPG is certainly up. What is the recommended interval for this? Part number for Mann Filter C27 009. Good price from Euro Car Parts at the moment.

Elon Musk's xAI super computer is accused or reported as having high polluting emission. Lots of people want to make money, even more want stuff for what they consider as cheap. That is very much a British think. All the tat that they buy from around the world be that from China, Indonesia. Natural gas, wood / paper, clothes, and electrical equipment among imports from Indonesia. All fair and well talking about stuff, but you need to consider if your purchasing & getting a bargain adds to others wealth or to terrible work conditions for a very poor work life balance.

I recall there was some Chroming process that involved cyanide if I recall correctly which the EU banned, maybe some residuals cyanide leftover, so one very large importers asked us to removed hundreds or may have been thousands of their cars from the coastal customs warehouse to import them before the July 1st deadline. If the public even knew a fraction of what is done they would freak. We rely on the EU to continue to improve public safety for Europe but standards elsewhere are not so good but to be fair China and India are doing a lot to improve the exposure of dangerous chemicals to their citizens but it is a long road to Nirvana.

Nickel is also used extensively for plating plumbing items as a less environmentally damaging alternative to hexavalent chromium.

If you are unsure that you can do the update then ask the dealer. don't let them fob you off though. That said different hardware configurations may use different versions of software to give best performance. With infotainment I've learnt that if it ain't broke then don't fix it.

Indeed. Nickel is being used less and less with EV batteries as car companies are phasing out NMC lithium batteries in favour of LFP lithium batteries, BYD over completely to this chemistry. Sodium and LFP may be the normal chemistry for EVs but I have not heard of alternate materials for usages like gas turbine blades and many other uses for Nickel. Old story and a quickly diminishing issue for EVs. Lots of lithium and rare earth metals in US, UK ie Cornwall etc just we would rather buy cheap from less ethical countries and perhaps time to do this in our own countries, mine and refine. Dig baby dig !

A quick and dirty maybe 2-3K. Maybe a bit cheaper if you just want the lower parts painted black. But the rust will be back within 12 months. Rust comes from inside the panels, not the outside. For a good fix, double the price, and it will be back within 24 months. I'd say just keep it and either do it yourself or don't.

Never seen a torx strip when using the right sized tool. Best design by far. You. May be able to grip the outside of the screw with a small Stilton, but probably need to remove the filter body from the car and do it on the bench

Practically impossible to tell visually, were you supplied with an itemised invoice for the work? Other than the non-replacement of the air filter, do you have a reason to suspect it wasn't? I had my belt changed at 6 years, although at less than 1/2 your mileage - this was when Skoda UK were still stating replacement at 5 years - the belt and tensioner looked in practically new condition. Apart from the potential fraud, there is no need for particular concern, Skoda UK are now quoting timing belt as 'lifetime' with (I think) replacement at mileage well in excess of 100K miles.

I think people need to watch this video, it highlights some of the issues I have been saying regarding the false claims that electric cars are green and the methods of mining and production of the rare metals etc used to make the batteries are far from green and the massive human cost and the massive toxic waste and pollution released directly into the atmosphere and the sea. In this video is the footage of Sam Evans (The Electric Viking) who is also it seems aided in the escape of Chris Bowens (Australia Energy Minister) from the critical open public questioning of the media who produced this documentary about the dirty Nickel from Indonesia which has effectively shut down the Nickel mining in Australia which was producing green Nickel without the toxic waste on pollution, all in the name of quick easy money. It is looking like there is an agenda with electric cars after all, that does not fit the narrative we all being fed.

I took it to the garage and he got me the genuine motor from skoda costing £200😲 it works fine now. I had got 1s from Ebay and online that didn't work. Sometimes best just getting the part from the actual dealer Hope this helps you

Those things that look like washers are actually more like rubber bushes. If they're not disintegrating, they should be alright to reuse until you can find new ones. Same goes for the gasket actually. The nuts shouldn't be very tight to hold the rocker cover on.

Its either been removed badly or been in a fair crash. I doubt thats repairable and I personally wouldn't risk it. There may well be hairline cracks that you can't see. Alasdair

Hello, welcome to the forum. There looks to be two cracks that I can see - the obvious one on the mounting eyebolt section, but is there another in the angle where the mount meets the block? I'd say that engine block has received a seriously hard knock and suggest rejection. I recall a taxi driver friend of my father buying a replacement engine, externally it appeared completely unmarked, but turned out to be scrap as internal castings had been shattered by an impact on the crank pully.

Think have it figured out now. The pooling fluid is diesel. One of the injector fittings isn’t quite holding. Probably need to swap the o rings on the leak off or the high pressure line.

I get notification , both voice and on screens, about 2000 m before when I’m driving on a motorway. In lower speeds , in city , it is later but still in good time and pretty clear which turn to make if there are multiple turns to get lost in. I have not looked into the setting to see if you can change this as it works for me in default setting. I have seen a setting if I want the voice notification to repeat 3 times.

Glad to hear she's keen to learn and be independent (as much as anyone can) especially as a woman, I'm a man and not happy about having to rely on any men (much prefer a woman in a "man's job"). In the mid-80s my wife went to a 20-week evening car course but it was on things like working on a stripped engine when it should have been on basic and general car servicing and maintenance but 30+ years of me running various old (over-priced and over-valued "classic") cars as dailies and more taught her a few real-world bits about cars. It's not saying much but she's much better than me at identifying the sounds from potential and actual problems , and remembering the sounds. She knows how to simple stuff on a car, which is about as much as I know, but it's my job to do the stuff and get dirty, cold and wet doing the stuff (cos I ain't not clever enough to get out of it). Most of the world is able to implement charging via USB C protocol, from action cams, dslrs, mobile phone, power banks, led flashlights, chargers but chinese manufacturer is too lazy to implement usb c standard properly, did the half assed job and for some reason this is Skoda fault?
