  1. Unbelievably, I forgot to take the camera to Coningsby so had to make do with phone photos 🤦 Nothing quite like the sound of a Merlin (or 4!)................. 20250505_151016~2.mp4 20250505_150124~4.mp4
  2. Hi guys, I converted the front of my Superb MK3 PreFacelift Sportline MY2017 to facelift MY2020 with LED matrix headlights and wanted to share my experiences. I have written a short guide for people who want to retrofit LED matrix headlights on a Prefacelift Skoda Superb. 1. Remove headlights and bumper 2. Headlights wiring the new headlights require a direct power supply from the fuse box (Pin 10 in the connector on the headlight), the old connector for the BiXenon headlights still fits and only needs to be adapted the existing pin 10 has to be removed, I put it in the free slot 8 so that the pin doesn't hang around uselessly Lay a new 2.5mm² cable from the fuse box to the headlights and insert it into pin 10 (a new pin is required) the left side is done quickly, here you only need about 50cm from the fuse box to the connector on the headlight right side is a bit more complex, I laid the cable behind the engine bay in the existing cable harness both are protected with 25A each I could not find the original pins from the fuse box, so I used universal fuse holders and connected them directly to the battery 3. Fog lights wiring the connectors (3D0973703) for the new LED fog lights is different and the old one must be replaced Pin 13 from the headlights becomes pin 3 on the fog lights, the old cables white/yellow becomes pin 1 left fog light, grey/green pin 1 right fog light and brown pin 2 left and right (ground) 4. install new headlights and bumper (Partlist for Sportline is attached -> all Trims black) 5. I have replaced 4B Multifunction Module from 3Q0907338 to 3Q0907338C, because I only have the data set for C Version the 4B can be found under the steering wheel. To access it, the knee airbag and the air duct must be removed (note: it is not necessary to unplug the knee airbag connector) 6. Once everything is assembled, you can start coding First activate D6 and D7 in 19 gateway, these are the control units of the new headlights I did this with VCDS -> connect to 19 -> select "installation list" -> check D6 and D7 -> save coding 7. Flash data set "superb_fcm_3q0907338c.zdc" with VCP to control unit 4B Multifunction Module (3Q0907338C) -> it is available in VCP Filemanager 8. Coding: 4B Multifunc. After coding, the basic setting of the headlights and matrix high beam must be made i used VCP for this-> - switch on low beam - connect to 4B - go to basic settings - go to "basic headlamp setting" and press start, adjust the headlamps to the correct height, then press stop - now go to "Acknowledge basic setting" press start, wait a moment then press stop - switch to Position "0" or "parking light" (low beam must be off) - go to "matrix light, calibration" -> set "calibrate" for left and right - now a reference light can be seen - it must be measured with headlight adjusting unit VAS621001 or Maha MLT3000 Matrix high beam calibration mode -> note the angles - Stop calibration and go to "Offset calculation matrix light" -> set "cablibrate offset" for both headlights - Keep vertical at 0, enter angles for horizontal -> press start, wait a moment and press stop - delete fault codes - finished For the Headlight washer cylinder you need a 10mm connector (1J0955665E), a short piece of 10mm hose and a pipe connector 10mm/6mm to connect it to the old washerhose. Everything works very well and the matrix light is really great, i love it
  3. Next was a couple of electrical fixes. Partner had told me that high level brake light was inop, following me back from collecting the car. I'd noticed that the passenger side wing mirror was pointing down and inwards at an unhelpful angle, and the adjustment didn't work. Boot wiring problem was unsurprising. Previous repair evidence on a few wires, and one newly broken wire responsible for brake light non-function. Easy fix. Mirror fault was imagined to be similar, and sure enough, after minor battle to release the bellows from (right) A-pillar 28-way connector, a couple of broken wires greeted me. Don't seem to have pics, except this one, taken just after loom removal and before bench repairs, to remind me the shape/profile of the loom as it comes into the innards of the door. Repaired wires restored function of the mirror, and I did a couple of other wires that had cracked insulation but no sign of strand breakage yet, splicing lengths of super-flexible silicone insulated wire pre-emptively. Was glad to discover that the loom removal and refitting process wasn't too bad to do. Had cause to inspect the other (passenger) side at the weekend and there were two wires with cracked insulation but none broken. May get round to future-proofing them at some point when everything else is done!
  4. It's now with the executive office! Thanks for the additional ideas.

  6. There is a taper/bowled/lead-in section at the end of the contact tube, so I think the intention is to run a ring of "stuff" in/round that depression, when you remove the spark plugs, you tend to find very slight traces of that stuff at the lower end of the ceramic - that, I think, is where I got the original stuff along with on the end of the contact tube, and redistributed it back around/inside that area of the contact tube - for reuse, until I eventually got round to buying the Prematex.
  7. I have no idea when it comes to VCDS stuff, but I do know of a post referring to a VCDS safety net that might help you undo any changes that you have done 😀: https://www.yetiownersclub.co.uk/threads/heated-windscreen-problem.8489/?post_id=99421&nested_view=1&sortby=oldest#post-99421
  8. @Alasdair1 4.6 V8 Auto running on LPG only as it was in my 110. It had been RPI Engineering,s demonstrator. http://v8engines.com It was great when LPG was 50 pence a litre. 200 & a 90 litre tank.
  9. The front has more room than the rear. The rear is less accommodating. That's where u'll get most scrubbing, especially against the bit where the rear bumper joins with the wheel arch. Try them on the rear and see how it is.
  10. I have the Infotainement online service too so use it to send destinations to the car before getting in which is quite useful. Adding the price per litre of fuel when i fill it up means you also get costs for journeys etc.... And you get freebies by saving up your points by going in to the app each day. (I just got the shopping bag to keep in the boot). On iPhone if you add the widget to the homescreen you can see what range you have left and if the car is locked etc.... without having to open the app. Pay to Park and Pay to Fuel aren't available in the UK so unless you're travelling to mainland Europe you might as well remove them again.
  11. Has the chain tensioner ever been changed? Cheap and easy thing to do first, if not.

  13. OK cool, thanks, I'll give that a shot
  14. Hello, welcome to the forum. Your new independent garage should be able to supply you with a print out - or are you worried that, despite their claim, they aren't actually able to update the DSR ? Unfortunately, simply resetting the service counter does not necessarily prove that the service was actually completed.
  15. Hi, Yes you are quite correct. Annoying that this may be the only way around the problem. It was perfectly positioned on my late 2022 SEL. If it ain't broke don't try to mend it! I'm still awaiting s response from Skoda UK via my garage. Don't hold out much hope and I'll bet they don't even mention the work around we have found! I'll post the response I get.
  16. Thanks for all the advice. I understand that it is a legal requirement to have the air con pressure checked before recharging. The recharging is legal if it's been tested hence being able to buy it from Halfords. It's also a consideration that the oil to gas mix might mess things up so it's a good idea to drain the system first. With this in mind it doesn't look more complicated the refilling a gas cigarette lighter?
  17. ... While on the other hand, my Octavia A/C is still working with the original refrigerant charge from 9.5 years ago - There, that's gone and put the kiss of death on it! 🙃

  20. The cutoff point for new maps is 5 years after that infotainment system was last used in VAG production.
  21. The article or paper didn't investigate the cause. In 2022, nearby (global scale) Hunga Tonga volcano had erupted. This causes localised short term cooling whilst increasing long term global warming https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_Hunga_Tonga%E2%80%93Hunga_Ha%CA%BBapai_eruption_and_tsunami#Climate_and_atmospheric_impact Would be interesting to see result 2020-2030 in 5 years time. I bet it will still be net decrease.
  22. Climate Change is Global. The world is not repairing it's self. The changes might be quick in some regions and that is still part of patterns that will be seen long term. When land is lost and the land gained is because no longer under ice or because of the lava from volcanoes creating land below & above sea level that is just as has been happening for billions of years. The Ocean is the worlds life support system David Attenbourgh just said on the telly. 'It is surprising how quickly the oceans can repair them selves.' Now Deep Sea Mining is getting approvals and that is yet another consideration on what the future brings.
  23. Indeed. The Kia app I had previously for my eNiro included Lock/Unlock 5 years ago and it’s apparently available on Škoda except for the Enyaq ☹️
  24. Unbelievable that there is a Recall Action with other Skoda models for a software update to stop the keys from being locked in the cars. I wonder if the Elroq is release with the software in place from the factory so that the keys can not be locked in. The BMW / MINI App with the EV,s allows the opening and locking of the doors remotely turning on the lights and not just pre conditioning.

  26. Anyone got thoughts on this? Is it a good thing? A bad thing? Irrelevant? If Antarctica gaining huge amounts of ice is irrelevant, perhaps it might be possible to explain how Antarctica losing huge amounts of isn't also irrelevant? Or perhaps whatever happens globally is irrelevant in the pursuit of the Climate Change narrative. 🤷‍♂️ https://scitechdaily.com/antarcticas-astonishing-rebound-ice-sheet-grows-for-the-first-time-in-decades/
  27. Yup. I ended up having to pay for a locksmith myself as Škoda Connect offered me LockAssist to come out Wednesday 7/5 earliest - not much use when I was checking out of the hotel we were staying at Monday 5/5 🤦🏼‍♂️ Also somewhat annoying that: the car did not recognise the keys were in the boot and open it; Remote lock/unlock is not available in the app
  28. there is something that slows down, prevents people who want clean air, water and soil from improving it over time, for their children, grandchildren. human society as a whole is selfish. while in the EU and the rest of the pro-western countries every gram of CO2 counts, countries in Asia pollute 20x more, recently I saw a city on a river in Asia, one after another, trucks with municipal and other waste in a row unload all this in tons into the river that carries it all into the sea. disgusting to see. there is hypocrisy here too. in eco tests when registering a car, you in the UK call it MOT, diesel can pass even with the exhaust gas purification components removed, while on a petrol car several chemical compounds are measured per gram, in accordance with the ecological standard. What is measured on diesel? gas opacity? ridiculous. yes, they only measure that because no diesel car can reach the environmental norm assigned to it, maybe when it's brand new, but I watched a documentary where mechanical engineers, mechanics and a few others compare complete tests of all exhaust gases of a diesel and a 1.5 liter petrol. the 5-year-old gasoline had everything within the norm, while the diesel had gases that were increased by 100%, while the PN, the number of particles was twice the norm. norm 5-6 for diesel or gasoline prescribes the number of particles at 250,000 in 1cm3. on a new car, 6 months, 5,000 km, 1 million was measured, on a 5-year-old diesel car with 100,000 km, 2 million were measured, which is 8 times more than the norm., diesel will never be in accordance with the norms. they are going through lobbying and scandals and now the plan is to remove all ICE cars from the streets. many scientists agree that it is too late to stop environmental change. we should have reacted in the 1980s. sorry for the long post.
  29. Latest maps for a MIB2 Amundsen which is what I assume the OP has based on the VIN year identifier can be found here:
  30. In some ways they're largely pointless with KESSY vehicles as the key stops trasnmitting after 1 minute anyway so they aren't as vulernable to a relay theft. If you want to stop your car being taken the best thing you can do is make sure you have anti-snap locks fitted to your doors, and I say this from experience. In 2022 I got a new Cupra Ateca and within 6 months there was an attempt to steal it. They didn't even attempt the relay theft (because they'd have known the key wouldn't be transmitting at 3am) and instead tried to get in for the keys. They failed front and back because we the locks are anti-snap and they couldn't get past them. About 15 minutes later a Golf R was stolen a quarter of a mile away after they forced the lock of the back door in seconds. If the thieves are committed enough then they'll come for the keys, so make sure they can't get in!
  31. Actually, you're in luck. A chap on here, @vegarz host some and has this link to v330 from his ftp site. MOI3_EU_SKMQB_P33000P_0330 .zip From this post @Dave77 https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/523535-mib-3-from-0270-to-0330/#comment-5851709
  32. The link is probably to mibsolution but have just found that its down at the moment, which is not good. Best bet is to trawl through the audio electrics and security forum to see if there is anything there to link to perhaps...
  33. Hopefully an uneventful display season for the BBMF this year 🙏🏻 BBMF 2025 Schedule
  34. Affirmative, I had mine replaced because it was fried after water had come in some years ago. I paid about € 20 for it back in 2017 (a Chinese one still functioning today) See here
  35. @kinsey1 - u can buy the "strip" parts on its own, not cheap though. Exterior equipment - skodaautoteile.de Onlineshop there r different ones for Liftback vs Wagon.
  36. For the record, Lee is wrong, as usual. 😄 I'm surprised he hasn't dog-whistled his little protege in here to bark nonsense at me.
  37. No point paying for an Engineers Report via the AA then. Unbelievable that the drive wheels were not put on the Dolly and the car recovered.
  38. Apparently if the AA won't go halves with skoda, the dealership, skoda and us should go thirds. So we only pay nothing if it comes from the AA?! It doesn't make sense.
  39. Emissions per capita https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_carbon_dioxide_emissions_per_capita The mean per capita for the world is 4.86
  40. I've never found any dealer to have capability, confidence, trust, value and rapport. I've always found indies to do a better job, even if it is not always cheaper.
  41. Bought the L&K 280 4x4 Recently and the Air con proved not to be working I took it to a local garage to do a leak test the system pressurised with nitrogen found a leak on the top pipe at the condenser, the pipe was a faf to wiggle off, the problem was corrosion in the hole of the condenser bridging the seal cleaned the hole out with 2000 wet and dry new "O" ring and a smear of pipe seal. Next job is the oil leak which looks to be the sealing ring/rubber on the Camshaft Magnet VID-20250501-WA0001.mp4
  42. We finally had a week of dry spell, so I got round to washing the good old Superb. I also treated her to a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. That's at least + 20hp in street cred. l
  43. Received mine today, ordered 21 January. Looking forward to getting to know EV driving. 85 Edition with Plus Pack in Timiano Green. Very happy to have it finally sitting on the drive!
  44. Agreed....the 19" Phoenix/Trinity wheels r beautiful and suits the Superb really well. I do miss having them on my car.
  45. Did an easy fix for this on my Mk2 Fabia. I went into the fuse box and found that the fuse for the heated seats was switched by the ignition (or at least the slot was, my Fabia isn’t fitted with such luxuries). According to the owners manual this usually takes a 20A fuse, so I figure that should be plenty safe to run the 12V socket which runs on a 15A fuse as standard. I then went and picked up a fuse tap, a breakout fuse, and a some bullet connectors. I broke off the inside of the breakout fuse with a screwdriver, connected the fuse tap to the breakout fuse with a bullet connector, and installed the original 15A fuse for the 12V socket into the breakout circuit on the fuse tap. I then plugged the fuse tap into the heated seat fuse slot, and the breakout fuse into the 12V socket fuse slot, ensuring that the negative of the 12V socket slot was connected to the positive of the heated seat slot. Works a treat, everything is still fused as it should be, and it's easily reversible. And I definitely went back and shortened those wires instead of just cramming them behind the fuse board cover...
  46. Another shout out to the helpfulness of the instructions here. Retrieved and fixed a list clip, then used again when I needed to get behind the trim for wiring reasons. So many uses! 😉
  47. I never felt the Yeti ever "ran out of puff" and I towed a caravan with both of mine. Are you sure it doesn't just need a service?
