  1. A few from Waddington earlier this morning (Cobra Warrior)..........
  2. Always when you change the battery you have to reset the windows. I think the procedure is all wimdows have to be shut. Then each window you wind down and hold button for a few seconds, then wind up and again hold buttin for a few seconds. That needs repeating on every window. As said it is a common windows reset thing on a battery swap.
  3. Actually the opposite. Only need a glasses to drive for full depth perception, she no longer needs glasses for anything else
  4. Yesterday, I saw a bright (ASDA) green Karok, with huge wheel arches, loud exhaust and really mean looking. Driving down Outram Street in Sutton in Ashfield. I don’t want the wheel arches, but a sporty exhaust would give the Sportline a little bit of street cred!😀
  5. The Mk2 octavia is a Mk5 golf underneath, not a Mk4
  6. I must have seen hundreds of posts like this over the years. Unless you really feel like lashing out the cash up front, the first job is making sure what you've got is up to scratch - more often than not it turns out the problem was previous maintenance (or lack of) on a new-to-them car. Old fluid, sticky calipers and the cheapest crappiest pads known to man so it'll make it through MoT/sale/handback, none of which are conducive to good braking. Once that's been ruled out then 340/310 parts are cheap and plentiful - Golf R/GTI PP, Cupra, S3 can all act as donors. Ironically getting them off a Superb is probably the rarest point of supply.
  7. It always worked fine before the ota update so I am at a loss. This is my second octavia 4 and I have never found the setting to change the voice to female I just thought Laura was a crossdresser
  8. 1 point
To resurrect a very old thread and for those perhaps coming by…. Car was booked in for a towbar to be fitted today. Get a phone call and hour after drop off to find out it already has a skoda swooping drop down tow bar fitted but someone had changed the bubba to one without a hole hence never saw it or it never deployed before!
  9. I've just done this in vcds after replacing the rear springs. Not a huge difference in the numbers or the drive ('normal' setting still feels underdamped). At least I know it's set up correctly.
  10. look at that monstrosity!!! I AM THE KING OF ORANGE PEEL!!!
  11. Quite a lot will get in through the window seal. It should all drain out via the weep holes. If is is not then clear the weep holes out until water will run out freely. If there is water in the bottom of the door it is a big problem.
  12. https://www.drive2.ru/l/714438467546790126/?fbclid=IwdGRjcANB2hFjbGNrA0HaD2V4dG4DYWVtAjExAAEevBNX94qCMVJrZvzDfCBdng4FHIpI9JE7YFFUHtmhUMhH9-ViatTkyyKdu-Q_aem_B5zaVBKAq3HJAGPDClP0RA Maybe this will help someone, some guys said that there are some vapors on the volume control slider , and that causes issues where the infotainment restarts or changes the volume
  13. I use a mount that clips to the dash vent it has been in 3 cars to date.
  14. I have one spot too in my city where I have a disconnection near a gas station but only there. It's very mysterious
  15. I experience the same drop outs with CarPlay at the same sections of roads - it's very consistent. My theory is that there's speed trap radar in place at these road sections that causes the disconnection.
  16. Why isn't so hard to get any information from Skoda. We're now a week from October and still no car or further update. If it's put back I'm going to cancel.
  17. So update is fine and safe to do it.. at own risk as every time..
  18. Sounds like a s/ware glitch to me. Have you tried a hard reboot? If not, hold the power button (left end of volume slider) for 10+ seconds until it restarts.
  19. I have exact same problem.. it's not the phone as other car on same spots work fine for AA via WiFi.. Using same s23 Ultra phone.. 1989 do not resolve this.. and yes.. FW is stable and PDC etc... activate much faster.. Why AA drops every time on same spots is mistery for me.. Maybe has anybody any idea..
  20. Updates from my two. My last post here in March, the Fabia had just ticked over to 36,000 miles. Very much evident that it is used mostly for local driving, it's just made it to 37,000: Meanwhile, back in March the Superb was on 11,111. Come on a bit since then: I bought it with a tad over 5,000 on the clock, so I've done about 10K in it myself now.
  21. Could just be burned. 2mm isn't much at all and almost within margin of error considering how and when it is checked (eg hot or cold, some oil still not drained back to sump after running engine for a bit) Possibly same as this Maybe they didn't bleed it properly. May require a coolant flush as the VAG garage suggested. Some residual oil in coolant system is expected. 2mm of oil loss not gonna show a warning. I'd say this was the cause and you are seeing some effects of residual oil and an unpleasant system. I'd keep topping it up and watch it. If still using coolant after 500 miles, maybe another leak. I'd certainly be letting the garage know as their inability to bleed the system properly may cause damage to the cylinder head. This is where they admitted it may not be properly bled. I think it will be fine but a significant air lock can cause overheating in parts of the head which will lead to cracking. Run the heater a bit to promote coolant flow. That might help bleed the system
  22. Assuming this was a recent dealer purchase, I'd make a prompt enquiry about the possibility of changing to DSG. I'm biased because I last bought a manual in 1988 & really don't know why they still exist. But if you're struggling for comfort now, that's unlikely to improve.
  23. I think it's possible with VCDS after looking at some golf and other VAG forums. If I manage to do it I'll get a recording and post up a how to guide.
  24. I've heard of some people saying they could do it via VCDS. I'm not sure though. I used OBDEleven. I would imagine ODIS can do it, or maybe that was VCP.
