  1. Finaly ,find the module, with shipping from CN, about 21£, keep you posted about the progress.Wish me luck!, hope to not need to code or some sort of computer job.
  2. Brakes replaced. The Mtec/ATE stuff was ok but I definitely felt like I was pressing harder on the pedal when having to haul the speed off when loaded up. Still just finishing bedding in so haven’t used these in anger yet but they look decent and I’m enjoying the lack of groove/noise. Getting old. Front - Golf CS reps made by SHW performance. Rear - VBT CS lookalikes to match. Pads are Ferodo DS2500 all round
  3. Mostly, no. It is summer tyres that are suitable for only 3 seasons in the UK. All-season tyres are very suitable for UK winters and they do not lose grip below 7C. All-season tyres are sold in Europe (including the UK). All-weather tires [yes, tires] are sold in North America and not here, and are aimed at a harsher winter climate. Tyre Reviews caters for the North American market as well as the UK market. Hence the all-weather tire reviews you have found there. As for the article from Nokian, the URL begins with'na' - that means it's from Nokian North America. So again, the info is not applicable here.
  4. Of course they are because those on mega money, who control the Governments want to keep you voting for low taxation and want to stop you joining them, They can use these avoidance techniques to the max. Top rate of tax used to come in at £20,000 in the 1970s that would be £235,000 a year now.
  5. I don't understand why the Government allowed salary sacrifice for vehicles apart from an effort to help the Car industry. They don't give tax relief on mortgage payments anymore so i don't see why it should be for other purchases Pension addition as a salary sacrifice make sense because it gets taxed when paid out with the added benefit of increasing money in the banking system to replenish what was lost in the increasingly long ago crash and reduces payments of means tested benefits in the future. I think the problem is Governments don't really think long term. All the loopholes should be closed and the system would be easier to manage and avoid the avoidance. You can get interest tax free on £20,000 in an ISA

Not if you use it properly........ It has lots of different fittings because there are lots of different calipers.

That's what I used on my old 2008 Skoda, my 1990 Audi 09 and 2000 BMW 740 Sport. Excellent piece of kit. Just beware of the excess brake fluid possibly overflowing from the reservoir when you use it.
  9. ....or tweak the steering wheel to restart. tom
  10. Glad you found it. I personally cut out the bad section of wire and solder in a new section with heat shrink plus tape. I don't tend to join at the break point as it tends to break again as the repair isnt as flexible as the wire.
  11. I agree with Warrior193 only use water as an emergency as it will eventually dilute coolant and you will lose frost protection and also anticorosion. Check the pasenger side carpet for dampness and crystal deposits. If there is no visible sign of coolant leak anywhere else it may be the heater matrix or pipes feeding it that are leaking. (hopefully not). Check your engine oil and cap for emulsification in case the head gasket has blown as well. A good tip is to park up on a dry surface like a garage or covered car park and check for drips. My old octavia used to leak slightly from a rad hose union but only when hot so coolant tended to evaporate. It did leave crystal deposits but was impossible to see as the undertray blocked the view. 12. found the problem .. quick fix quite happy with that coming up to winter !
  13. It has been reported that using the 'old school' technique of changing down through the gears as you slow down is beneficial. This is what the DSG does and hence why many people suggest the DSG is better suited to the 1.5 TSI than the manual. Of course we all have our specific needs and preferences.
  14. Just my 2 Cents, but the 3 biggest cause of random issues featuring a Christmas Lights display seem to be Depleted Battery, ABS Sensor followed by Cam position sensor, although the last refers to more of a drivability issue.
  15. Ok. Thank you all for your answers. I ordered used radars with index G as you told me. My retrofit project has officially restarted.
  16. Provided you use compatible coolant to top up, not really necessary at all Id say. How low is it? Maybe need to bleed air out if gone really low. But as said, find where it went and fix the leak
  17. Thanks Pete. Will do a bit more experimenting here first

Update Car went to dealer on Friday for full diagnostic as having problems with start/stop Android auto traffication and infotainment result New battery fitted said that can cause all sorts of problems won't get a full test till Tuesday will update then.

    Ali Express 🙄
  20. You DO NOT need to use a main dealer for servicing to maintain your warranty
  21. When you said "reset" did you mean a long hold on the on / off switch till it comes up with the logo ? Or some other but that says reset. The first always clears anything stuck. There is a zoom level button which you press untill it has the outline around it which means its on auto zoom. You can override that by twiddling the right hand button. That should make it zoom in and out. If its dumb to changing the zoom level and that long hold on the on/off doesnt make any difference then something indeed has gone wrong in the update. I always update via the developers swdl menu so if I was doing it I'd force the process again, go back to a previous map etc. You need a coding device to unlock the developers menu if you use swdl and keep the door open or shut and closed at 15 min intervals or keep the engine running. That is the right map for your region ?... not sure what happens if you load up the wrong region on a mib2 high. Mib2 standard you get a broad country outline but nothing else.
  22. t Roc dataset works without problems on the Kamiq where I made the parameterization
  23. How does paying monthly reduce your savings to save the tax annually, is a pcp tax deductible
  24. But the tax doesn't reduce your savings it just means the balance doesn't grow as much. The cars depreciation will way exceed the money you pay in tax.
  25. Hello The owners manual just shows xxx and no figures unless i missed a section. It did not show any values in the manual i have but could be wrong
  26. Only £500 before paying tax on interest from savings if one is a higher rate tax payer. Interest rates on savings have been falling though one of my accounts with Lloyds still get 6.25%. One of the reasons I have ordered/buying the Renault 5 is that having savings,, after getting most of my tax free lump sum, is getting savings interests will just attract taxation so may as well spend and enjoy. Just trying to figure out if one get taxed on interest in a cash drawdown account. Sound have put it in ISA I suppose, I gather there is more than a third of a trillion pounds in ISAs, mostly cash ISAs !
  27. If your mechanic means that the mounting bracket for the front radar sensor has been displaced or broken in the 'bump' it will require replacement and the radar will almost certainly need to be recalibrated.
  28. The car has hill hold assist only. The conditions for hill hold assist require the car to be on at least a 5% slope. Hill hold assist "works" for about 2 seconds allowing time for you to move your foot from the brake to the accelerator. You'll note the car uses a conventional manual handbrake unlike other similar models in the VAG line-up.
  29. Just took the old switch out to get the part number and noticed that it is open circuit. I took it apart and the wiper had snapped off. Hopefully a new switch will solve the issues. Being open circuit I suppose it is thinking that the pedal is being continuously pushed. I'm assuming that the ECU makes calculations based on clutch position and speed info to adjust revs? Can't figure out why it is random though. With the switch broken wouldn't the behaviour be the same all the time?
  30. To be honest, have never used the SD card for music. I only ever found the SD card slot for the first time when I was looking for the infotainment upgrade. So, sorry - can't help on that.

Morning all Been a lurker for a few weeks now I have the car, Superb Mk3 I need to get some questions answered ha Tom
  32. Totally agree with what you said, but everything rolls downhill to those at the bottom of the food chain to make up the shortfall, i.e., those who already have the least resources. We need far fewer think tanks that lobby on behalf of funders, who are extremely wealthy and believe they deserve to keep more of their money than others can. We need politicians who are there for everyone, not just the elite.

Hi all, picked up my 17 plate Kodiaq yesterday and looking forward to doing a few mods to it
  34. This has been discussed at length here https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/521243-15-tsi-power-cutting-out/
  35. Similar to the other post by another poster and when mine did this (280 petrol) , it was the battery. New battery, Carista coding and all good since. Check the battery first especially if it's old.
  36. You have to wonder about the extent of "extreme truck tailgating" necessary in this record.
  37. Hi

Dia dhuit 👋 An bhfuil tú sásta le do Kodiaq? (Brisky rules are English only, but welcoming a fellow Irishman is, I reckon, an acceptable exception 😉)
  38. I think that figure must be in the ballpark as they say. The 5p discount is reported as costing £2.4 - £3bn a year. Due to be removed next March unless extended. So Removing it early at 6pm Budget Day would raise over £1bn As evs increase they could replace the falling revenue by increasing the fuel duty as an added deterrent, like they did with Cigarettes.
  39. Front is fine it is the back seat area that is short on headroom as I am 6 foot 1 inch. I would have preferred a car that could have a drink and be put in the back and someone else drive but it seems that is not the R5 or R4, megane e is better but not great, not in tge league of the Scenic. Just have to use the R5 when not expecting for me or any other of the six footers in the family likely to need to go in the back or just take the Scenic if that scenario expected.
  40. Awesome stuff pal; glad it was as you hoped. That’s a decent boost of power too - very unexpected to the casual onlooker I bet
  41. Morning Folks! I’m currently looking at getting a used Superb for my commute to work over the winter months, it’ll be 50 miles each day and it’s a 4 on 4 off rotation so around 800 miles a month. My budget is around £5k tops, which includes tax and insurance. I’ve narrowed my choices down to a few, with the following spec; 2014 2.0 TDI DSG Elegance 4WD estate @ 167k miles 2012 2.0 TDI manual elegance hatch @ 128k miles 2008 2.0 TDI DSG Elegance hatch @ 102k miles 2012 1.6 TDI Manual Elegance Greenline estate @ 154k miles 2011 2.0 TDI Manual 4WD Elegance estate @ 160k miles I appreciate this is quite the variety, with almost all of them being pre facelift. A lot of posts I’ve been able to see are from a few years back, and so maybe don’t provide the most accurate picture in 2025. Any advice or guidance will be greatly appreciated, thank you.
  42. Install the correct radars and get the job finished
  43. As long as they're not stolen, you're ok
  44. That is correct. Remember to do a ride, it will not work just after coding. It need to be calibrated during drive.
  45. Gandalf had a downpipe & tunes switched yesterday. 😁 Now running Galano Stage 2, producing 241 kw 516 Nm (at the wheels) on the dyno. i switched ECU and TCU tunes from APR to Galano so i could satisfy my downpipe itch. Green - factory setup with Racing Line Intake and Turbo Inlet Pipe - 178 kw / 380 Nm Blue - APR Stg 1 ECU (Hi-torque) + TCU tunes with Racing Line Intake and Turbo Inlet Pipe - 221 kw / 519 Nm Purple - APR Stg 1 ECU (Hi-torque) + TCU tunes with Racing Line Intake, Turbo Inlet Pipe, IE Intercooler and downpipe - 234 kw / 503 Nm Red - Galano Stg 2 ECU + TCU tunes with Racing Line Intake, Turbo Inlet Pipe, IE Intercooler and downpipe - 241 kw / 515 Nm NOTE: these r "at the wheels" power reading, not the engine.
  46. I have both and I tend to use ODBEleven now. Not interested in generic code readers such as Carly.
  47. I Hope you have disconnect all again
  48. Hi all, I've been a member here for a very long time, and this is my second Superb III. She's a Superb Combi 1.4tsi iV Hybrid L&K, with all the usual refinements that that brings, plus: Quartz Grey Flappy Paddles Massage driver's seat Black Alcantara headliner (amazing!) Boot backrest release Factory Retractable towbar Wireless phone charging 19" Vega Aero upgrade (pretty rare) Travel assist pack Pretty sweet ride, and now I have the coolant issue sorted, very happy!
  49. Back in a Skoda Superb after about a 12 year gap, this time it's a 280 L&K and it's such a nice comfy ride after my last rock-hard Hyundai "N" thing but it's equally quick. I do find the wheels ghastly, they even protrude more than the tyre walls making them next to impossible of staying free from kerb damage. That said the wheels alone are not enough to spoil everything else about the car.
