  1. And a few from this weekend.....
  2. Seems fine, I loaded up both the all Europe and the A2 version. Did the demo drive that the unit can do. Seemed OK. The files have increased in size since the July version posted on the top of the thread. Did a quick check to make sure it wasn't the same file but relabelled. It's still TomTom cartography so no change in TMC not working on the updates. On the positive side, those 20 mph speed limits are in the system. They have a "windows.net" in them as an example: https:/updateportalmaps.blob.core.windows.net/maps/STD2_2610_EU1_2026.zip Well I've used @MartiniB proforma of names and edited in what we'd expect.... happy days and all that wait for the official MartiniB links. They might not all pick up the files: # ECE AS(A1) 2026/27 VW portal: - - Škoda portal: https:/updateportalmaps.blob.core.windows.net/maps/STD2_2610_EU_AS_2026.zip # ECE 1 2026/27 VW portal: - - Škoda portal: https:/updateportalmaps.blob.core.windows.net/maps/STD2_2610_EU1_2026.zip # ECE 2 2026/27 VW portal: - - Škoda portal: https:/updateportalmaps.blob.core.windows.net/maps/STD2_2610_EU2_2026.zip # ECE 3 2026/27 VW portal: - - Škoda portal: https:/updateportalmaps.blob.core.windows.net/maps/STD2_2610_EU3_2026.zip # ECE 4 2026/27 VW portal: - - Škoda portal: https:/updateportalmaps.blob.core.windows.net/maps/STD2_2610_EU_DL1_2026.zip # ECE 5 2026/27 VW portal: - - Škoda portal: https:/updateportalmaps.blob.core.windows.net/maps/STD2_2610_EU_DL2_2026.zip # ECE 6 2026/27 VW portal: - - Škoda portal: https:/updateportalmaps.blob.core.windows.net/maps/STD2_2610_EU_DL3_2026.zip # ECE 7 2026/27 VW portal: - - Škoda portal: https:/updateportalmaps.blob.core.windows.net/maps/STD2_2610_EU_DL4_2026.zip Over to MartiniB.

Well spotted Krukru. I have a 2025 2.0 Kodiaq Sportline Diesel. A few days before Chistmas 2025 I saw a message from the TPMS that detected a loss of pressure on the nearside rear tyre. Prior to this I had not appreciated how accurate and detailed the TPMS system could be. I immediately drove to a filling station and discovered that I had indeed suffered a puncture in that tyre from what looked like an industrial nail or screw. Owing to the time of year I was not immediately able to do much to resolve the situation but over the next few days, again from the TPMS system, I noticed that there was no further loss of pressure noted. In effect, the intrusive object had in effect 'plugged the leak' in the tyre. Rather than drive at speed with a plugged/repaired tyre, I elected to replce the tyre with a new one of the exact same specification as that fitted at factory. I collected my car from the Dealership in early March 2025. Now into February 2026 I received another message from the TPMS advising a loss of pressure but without any indication of which tyre was affected. At this point I have to come clean and admit that I hadn't checked my tyre pressures once since delivery. Today I inflated all tyres to the recommended pressures and reset them using the app on the infotainment screen and all is now well. Much has been said on these forums (should that be fora) on the unreliability of modern electronic devices fitted to cars in the 21st century. I cite my own case as a rebuttal of that criticism. When these systems work as intended thay are a boon to motoring and ownership. What say all of you ?
  4. I can see the PHEV buyer shouting foul like Diesel buyer did a few years back. If someone does not get their PHEV registered by April this year then it sounds like the advantages they thought they were getting will evaporate. Art Intel gave this answer...... Yes, Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) in the UK face significantly higher Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) tax from 2025/2026 due to stricter emissions testing (Euro 6e-bis) and increased Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) from April 2025. Furthermore, a new pay-per-mile "eVED" tax (1.5p/mile for PHEVs) launches in April 2028. Key Changes Affecting PHEVs: Higher BiK (Company Car Tax): From January 1, 2025 (and April 2026 in GB), stricter emissions testing will likely increase CO2 figures for many PHEVs, driving up their BiK tax bands. Some projections suggest rates could rise from 9% to 24% for certain models. Increased VED (Road Tax): From April 2025, first-year road tax for cars emitting 1–50g/km of CO2 (which includes most PHEVs) increases to £110. Expensive Car Supplement: PHEVs costing over £40,000 (or £50,000+ for some models) pay an additional fee. New Pay-Per-Mile Tax (2028): Starting April 2028, PHEVs will pay a 1.5p per mile rate, added to the existing VED, as part of a move to tackle lost fuel duty. End of Low-Tax Loophole: The significant tax advantages for PHEVs are closing, with 2028 seeing 0-emission mileage differentiators likely dropped, placing them in higher tax brackets closer to traditional vehicles. Drivers looking to lock in lower, current rates should ensure their vehicle is registered before the April 2025/2026 changes.

  6. Hi owned my Skoda Octavia VRS m3.5 tsi Estate 2017 for a year and using the forum to find out how to update my map SD card, also used it when looking at buying a VRS. So thought it was about time I introduced myself. After owning Saab 93 manual turbo cars for the last 19 years I was looking for a replacement non saab. I settled on a manual petrol VRS estate. After looking for the right car for a while I posted a wanted post on a Facebook group and was offered this car as a private sale. It was in the spec and colour i was looking for. Stage one map 331hp dyno by Rtech Oil changed to liqui moly 5w 40 early last year Running on Michelin PS5s Panoramic sunroof, KESSY keyless system Smartlink activated for Android, Apple Carplay Alcantara and leather seats (electric front seats) Heated front seats Heated mirrors Heated windscreen Front & rear parking sensors and lane assist Reverse camera Black honeycomb grill & badges Scorpion cat back stainless exhaust Tyson turbo elbow RTS uprated clutch and flywheel and uprated dogbone New heat exchanger and silica bag removed. Since purchase I have removed Heko wind deflectors, tinted film from rear and side windows and VRS and Rtech badge from boot. Added space saver spare wheel and tool kit.

I plan to do electrical tape on each of the wires, then cloth tape, and then finish up with some sort of heat resistant stuff, given the proximity to the turbo. I was just curious on whether people thought it should be a repair, or a replacement.

This reminds me that I should clear the logged fault that gets left behind after the tyre pressure warning has been issued have been corrected and reset, probably use VCDS to do that! I think that checking the tyre pressures once a week is a smart thing to do as "looking" at each wheel/tyre before jumping into the car, just avoids you driving with a completely flat tyre as low profile tyres do tend to conceal their "current status".

  10. Just wanted to reach out and say I’ve created an account just to say thank you for this. Your guide was the most complete and helped with what was not a massively straight forward job. To anyone else looking for the solution this is it. Couple of things to add, on point 7 “a very small ratchet is highly recommended” I just want to reinforce that you will need to find the smallest depth right angle T20 you can for this as it is really fiddly. Als the initial trim removal requires a bit of grip and rip as the back tabs are really difficult to get out. Thanks again @TimoB
  11. No, as the motor always returns to its position. And to be fair, once the scuttle panel is off, its 3 bolts I think to take it out, and the clip on the plug. Not hard at all. Use a flat head screwdriver or something similar to pop the linkage off each other, and take a photo too.
  12. And some of the Koreans too for new models I understand - it seems that only the 'premium' marques are sticking withy touch screens for now (Mercedes for example).

Hello there, It is recommended that you check it weekly. Personally I look at my car each time I go for a drive, but that normally is weekly, as this is not my daily driver. I can recommend that you use N to fill your tires, as this will help you keep a more stable pressure and the rubber to keep fresh a bit longer. As a separate note, I am curious as I could not find this in my 2025 VRS: do you see individual tire pressure displayed in a menu, did you see it individually displayed when you had that puncture, or it was just a generic "tire pressure low" without any indication of a specific tire? I'm asking as one of my pet peeves is the lack of direct TPMS sensors in my car (lack of possibility to option them as well and was assured that it has them, though I could not find them anywhere in my menus). Cheers!
  14. Apologies for the delayed response. I mean key in your pocket and just walking up to the car and it unlocks without touching the door handle, about a metre away from the car. The locking happens around 5 metres away as you walk off. You should also hear a blip. If you walk away and you hear a double blip, it’s because one of the doors, tailgate or bonnet is open. I can’t remember where in the menus I found it but I think it’s in the lock/ unlock settings.
  15. I picked up on it within a matter of few seconds, they're icons in the settings section and slightly sharper in definition
  16. The issue or elephant in the room with PHEV,s and bigger batteries and greater range on electric and no need to fire up the engines. Reported problems for some. ICE and GPF. Petrol engine not running often enough or for long enough. Maybe not a worry to those leasing and company cars. Maybe not a worry to many who just keep cars for the time there is a warranty or there is a setvice plan. As to used PHEV,s. Then it might well be a lottery. Was the car low mileage, or higher and FMDSH, but only did a few hundred or thousand miles with the petrol engine each year.
  17. So now you have Blues or Swing MIB1 unit, with Bluetooth, without DAB, with USB 5Q0035726 and fortunately you don't have CANTON sound system. You can install one of four different OEM glove box units: - MIB2 Bolero - MIB2 Amundsen - MIB2 Columbus - MIB2.5 Columbus You also need to replace display unit: - for MIB2 Bolero you can use either 6.5" model number 5E0919605H or 8" model number 5E0919605N - for MIB2 Amundsen and MIB2 Columbus you can use listed above display as well as 6.5" model number 5E0919605J, 8" model number 5E0919606, 8" model number 5E0919605M - for MIB2.5 Columbus the only display unit that works is 5E0919606D You also have to replace USB port, glove box (or at least glove box insert) and add harness to connecy it all. The question is what is your budget and which of listed below features are "must have": - Video playback from DVD, USB, SD - CD playback - OEM navigation - displaying OEM maps in Virtual Cluster (Active Info Display). All units support SmartLink (Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink), rear view camera, voice command. features that differ them: - MIB2 Bolero - no OEM navigation, no CD/DVD drive, no video playback from SD/USB - MIB2 Amundsen - OEM navigation, no CD/DVD drive, no video playback from SD/USB, support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster) - MIB2 Columbus - OEM navigation, CD/DVD drive, video playback from SD/USB, no support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster) - MIB2.5 Columbus - OEM navigation, CD/DVD drive, video playback from SD/USB, support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)
  18. Indeed, it'a a SW package called PV4RC that includes (potential) updates for all control units as you mentioned - only for the facelift versions of various cars in VAG group: Golf, Octavia, Leon, Formentor etc. The newer the car, the less updates to be performed; e.g. mine was manufactured mid-2025 and still they found a few updates to install.
  19. The "disabling" message you received is referring to some functionalities that were removed from the App - independent of what your privacy settings were. Those who used older versions of VAG Apps (VW, Skoda, Seat/Cupra) will know that sometime last year during one of the updates we were notified that the honk and flash functions were removed. For ICE vehicles the App might not seem to be a big deal and probably not worth to pay for. However, for those with PHEV it is really a big deal: not only you can remotely start/stop the HV battery charging, but it's really convenient to precondition the cabin before departure (cooling in hot summer days, heating in cold weather).
  20. Hello! Thanks for your reply! Yes, it does, even with a warm engine. Regardless of conditions, the revs don’t drop. On the other hand, it seems to respond correctly to load in every gear, turning on the air conditioning, etc. The temperature gauge appears to be reading correctly.
  21. I’ve not had an invite! 😭 And might just be interested in an Elroq to replace Mrs DSL’s car. Just don’t tell Mrs DSL. 🤣
  22. Coded as 2610 on the download release which would be newer than the one @MartiniB has posted up and what I downloaded from that. I'll be told if I'm wrong 😉. The other one was ECE 26 this one is ECE 26 / 27. Will let MartiniB post up the file links but this is different to the one posted up in the summer. Will download the one that better pertains to the UK and test tomorrow. Downloading the all Europe one at the moment. Looks like they updated their library 🫡. Still life in the updates.
  23. Looks like MIB2 update is published now - currently downloading ECE 1 2026.2 (CW 6/2026) from the Skoda update portal...
  24. The problem turned out to be a bad seal of the fuel pressure regulator onto the fuel rail, I eventually noticed diesel dripping from that spot. Frustratingly three garages I took the car to couldn't see this obvious sign, I thought I might have been going mad. I ended up taking it to a well reputed Skoda guy far away (Tadhg O'Riordan in Kanturk) and he saw the problem straight away and fixed it in an afternoon for €80!
  25. A wee update, I drained my gear oil......2 litres dropped out and it was pretty dark not like the new stuff. I filled it through the reverse light switch because @BrandonW put the fear in me removing the black plastic plug !! I put back in maybe a wee bit more than the 2.3 litres specified . 1st impressions after a 25 mile drive.....2nd gear selection maybe better.
  26. yeah I'm going to get it booked into the dealership and get it updated I would try myself but don't wanna risk bricking it
  27. While this is not all about electric cars, it will apply to all cars soon.
  28. Do you get the impression that the UK government really have much of a clue what they want to achieve here?
  29. my 4.5 Octavia in the cheapest trim (in Israel called "Selection") i have the 1.5 MHEV with DSG7. and its very quiet. i can drive at 130 KMH and still hear music in low volume and even speak to someone in the car without yelling. before the Skoda, i had Hyundai Elantra Hybrid 2022. and it was so noisy. i was just counting the seconds to get rid of her :)
  30. @maxgabi @StefGaarddk I sent you download link for MHIG_EU_SK_K1552 in PM
  31. 5E0919606 is display part number for Columbus, not Bolero. Pls post part number and current SW version of your infotainment unit.
  32. Update on this window/central locking snag..... I was replacing the clutch before Christmas and upon removing the battery box I spotted a cable from the fuse box on the positive terminal with a corroded 1 inch air gap. (Photo below) Since repairing the cable there has been no faults windows and locks are back to normal. I even had the dash tell me things I never had previously.
  33. There's quite a bit of info about the PCV system in page 2 of my thread here: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/531352-petes-rescue-roomster/page/2/ Keep going until you get to the part (post on 21 June) showing the valve in the intake manifold, which is a part that will rarely be working correctly in older engines, I expect. The whole PCV system is a little complex on these engines, involving internal cast-in connectivity, external hoses and valves, and pathways and valves within the plastic oil separator box. Workshop diagrams and several photos can be found in the linked thread.
  34. I took the car into the dealer and they have fixed the issue now.
  35. Hey guys, It took me some time, but managed to replace the 3rd brake light last weekend. I'll try to write a summary on the different parts that needed to be removed to get to it to help any further attemps along. However, it took ages even with the help of someone as we didn't really know how to remove each part and didn't want to damage anything, if you're not comfortable I recommend going to a dealer or other garage to get it fixed. Everything is at your own risk, be especially carefull when working with connectors of electronics or near electronic parts, to not damage them. (The following video is on a Octavia 3, but can you some idea of the removal of the big plastic piece: https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=uXg_Cw9DWtA) Step 1: Get the replacement part (V5E7945097 I believe). I recommend you also get new screws, I had to do with cleaning two that were a bit rusty. Step 2: Choose a day with a mate and plenty of time. Step 3: Remove the big part of the boot interior plastic (5E7867975A), be carefull to remove the connector of the button for the electronic boot before completely taking it off. This plastic part is mounted with 16 metal clips (image 1). Step 4: Remove the smaller plastic that's around the window (5E7867605), this has two screws (visible when you've done step 3), 11 clips and needs to be pulled to the inside to undo all clips (image 2 & 3). Step 5: Unclip the connector of the brake light and washer jet that's mounted in the spoiler (https://youtu.be/nH4BN3Fib1U?feature=shared&t=176). Also release the cableholder for the wire set to get more room to work by pulling it straight out (image 4 & 5). Step 6: Add protection (masking tape or cloth) to prevent damage to spoiler and rear of the car. Step 7: Remove 11 screws and nuts (image 6). A very small ratchet is highly recommended, or one can manage with a Torx 25 allen key for the 4 screws in the square holes. Step 8: After closing the tailgate, lift up the spoiler slowly although with some force to click it off. It is still somewhat held in with 5 red clips (image 7). Step 9: Replace brake light (I didn't take pictures, this step is pretty easy though as it is just 1 wire clip, 4 bolts and maneuvering the clips of the brake light out afterwards). After replacing the light, connect the cables back on the spoiler and to the car to confirm it works. I even went as far as to check all other lights and the washer nozzle. To mount the parts do the steps in the reverse order. Make sure to keep track (as good as possible) that all clips are correctly clicked in. I am to this day not sure if I got them all, although there are not rattles or weird bump in the plastic. If there are any questions, feel free to get in touch. Thanks to the people in this topic that helped by their posts here and especially @naialsl for his support. Timo Image 1 Image 2 Image 3 Image 4 Image 5 Image 6 Image 7

I've been having the same problem, with a 2.0 tdi, 2016 model The fix is to replace the crankshaft position sensor, which is a bit tricky on mine. If you're going to do it yourself buy only a genuine sensor, as my replacement aftermarket version was worse than the original, the engine wouldn't rev over 3000rpm
