  1. Part 2 The car was originally supplied with a pump and goo repair kit. The goo was now out of date and I travel quite a bit for work so it makes me nervous not having a spare. I was keen on having a spare that was a close as possible to the rolling diameter of the existing wheels so it could be used without any speed or time restrictions, whilst also fitting under the boot floor. Following the advice shared from @Carlston on a few posts, I chose a 6Jx16 steel wheel with 215/60 R16 tyre which resulted in a less than 0.5% difference in rolling diameter. It fits in the wheel well really well, and fits perfectly on the car. Unfortunately the jack doesn't quite fit inside the wheel, but does fit in the side storage section. Spare wheel - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/364188522719 Breaker bar and socket - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403816977765 Jack - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08FTH8N1T Spare wheel fixing screw - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0FP91RLPK Gear gator leather - Thanks to @tombee for his cast off leather gaitor when he upgraded to alcantara. It was from a Mk7 golf so needed some fettling and gluing but is a great improvement on the previous which was damaged and cracked in a few places. Vanity mirror lights - These were the only interior lights that weren't white LED. These ones from AliExpress are VERY bright and they may well prove to be too bright. I have kept the old bulb holders and may change them for standard fit LED bulbs rather than whole units. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006755056171.html Parking brake switch - The OEM one the car came with had a chip in the chrome. 2nd hand spares were a similar price to AliExpress new, so I went with that. Perfect fit and a nice tidy up job. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006998838766.html Rubber boot mat - My daughter is the goalkeeper for a local team. With that comes A LOT of mud. So I wanted something washable to line the boot. I went for the cheapest one I could find on Amazon and its proven to be a really nice fit. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B088FVXYC2 DAB aerial - This one is a bit of a pain. I dont use the radio much, but the DAB signal is terrible in this car. I know the local signal is ok as its fine in our Kodiaq. Following advice from @Cairus I bought the following, and unfortunately it hasn't improved things. I did notice the plug itself was loose when changing the connector so suspect there is something damaged inside the main unit. At some point I will take it out and take the case off and have a look inside. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09ZPHHBNL AC vent covers - Advice from @travs to install these so kids detritus doesnt get lost into the AC vents. Now installed on this car and our Kodiaq. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32904629443.html Clear plastic polish - The dash had a strange cloudy mark on it. From a tip from @Lee01 I tried the Meguiars Plast-RX and it worked wonders. Highly recommended for any clear plastic issues. OBD reader - I had a cheap OBD reader using CarScanner app, and was keen to experiment with some coding which the cheap dongle couldnt support. Based on the advice on the CarScanner website I chose the following. It is brilliant and works seemelessly. Its a really cost effective way to achieve the basic coding tweaks. Allegedly can also do long coding but I haven't ventured into that realm just yet. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XGB4873 So far I have succesfully coded the following: Teardrop wipe front and rear - I have noticed this only works in the dry, as any amount of moisture on the screen and the auto wiping seems to take over. Curtosey indicator blinks from 3 to 5 Refuel level in Maxidot Fog lights on with full beam and mainbeam flash Blower power level showing in auto mode Changed headlight washer interval to 20 from 10 Changed autohold and hill hold to "early". This has made a significant difference to the car, it was quite jerky when coming off autohold and its now silky smooth. Wipers return to park when ignition turned off

The government is very good at making loud noises abut speeding, not so good at enforcement. Easy to get a camera on a motorway where (in normal/good conditions) speeding presents little harm. try to get speed enforement in an urban area and it's all too expensive or too hard, lots of hand wringing no action. We've had dealths now on our 40mph road, proven eveidence of speeding at up to 263%of the limit (105 in a 40), and nothing gets done other than a visit from hi vis plod once every 4 months and they are required to make themselves obvious so only the terminally stupid get caught.
  3. When I got the car back in November I was trading in a 21 Plate Fabia wanting an upgrade in terms of spec and size. I had previously had a 150PS TDI Superb 3 so knew thats what I wanted again. It had 123,000 miles and a few age related tatty marks and body marks. Most of the interior lights had been changed to White LED, AdBlue had been coded out and it had some hideous quilted floor mats. The wheels had been refurbed in dark metallic grey and the calipers painted red. The reversing sensors were not working and the dealer fixed those before collection. It also had a glow plug fail which was replaced under warranty. As the list on my phone of minor changes is getting longer and longer I thought its about time I started a thread on the projects page. Nothing major, just tarting up and simple improvements. Most of these things are well documented here already by others but I'll provide links for those wanting to do similar changes. Gear selector switch - To fix intermittent "Return to workshop" error www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009808126126.html Number plates and frameless holders - Existing ones were faded and I hate screws through number plates https://mr-plates.co.uk/ Floor Mats - To replace the hideous quilted ones it came with https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0FP5WPKVL Bumper protector trim - To cover some scratches and cracks on top of the bumper, and to protect from future ones https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/374297644198 Stop start memory module - I've never had an issue with start/stop previously but on this DSG version it seemed to be quite agressive and stop the car too much for my liking. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009424334938.html DSG lever top chrome - Original had chips in the chrome https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008748111292.html Reversing camera - Not something I particularly needed but for the price and ease of install felt like a nice addition https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000230897829.html Front speakers and fittings - Originals had the issue with the magnets falling off and there was a severe lack of bass! So, the next task was to replace this cable. I pulled in a new 22AWG cable and connected it into the wire close to the plug within the tailgate, and the other end at the plug just below the D pillar. Lights all working again and no further issues. Washer bottle funnel lid - I really like the one we have on our Kpdiaq so this is a nice addition https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009730287325.html Boot torch batteries - Original removable torch was working in when in situ but didnt work when out of the car. Please to find they are 3x standard AAA rechargeable batteries. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00HZV9XKU Wireless CarPlay adaptor - I love the wireless carplay in our Kodiaq. Its so handy when jumping in the car quickly and not needing to plug the cable in. I was sceptical of such a cheap unit but I have to say it has been flawless. A slight lag between changes on the screen and changes in audio, but no worse lag than the OEM wireless in the Kodiaq. It is also small enough to allow the cover to be closed with it in situ. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005010493905846.html Route usb from rear charging port to armrest - as the front port is occupied with the wireless dongle, and to have the wire coming out in the armrest and allows the rear ashtray to be closed with it in situ - Based on the solution by @JR RS Slimline 12v to USB adaptor - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007463964127.html 90 degree USB C to Lightning flat cable - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009346861759.html (I also bought the USB C version in anticipation of the next phone upgrade being USB C not lightning) Parking ticket clip - Its amazing how I didn't notice this was missing until I went to put a parking ticket in it. Having had Skodas for the last 6 years it was such a natural thing to stick the ticket into it. Had to go OEM for this one. I am sure I could have got it cheaper from a local dealer, but for the convenience I ordered from Skoda Parts. https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/3v0867333-parking-ticket-holder-skoda-15521.html Wheel nut caps - There were none on the car when I got it and they just looked a bit shabby. I haven't fitted these yet as the ones for the locking bolt are a bit tight and need the ridges sanding off fromthe inside. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007215903363.html Mud flaps - I fit these to all the cars I have. UK countryside roads make for a very dirty car and I feel they save the sills a lot of grime. These ones are significantly cheaper than OEM and not a perfect fit, but good enough. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001393849257.html Not sure on the limit for length and photos for a single post, so will continue with a part 2.
  4. They're wrong. Filter is on the top, looks like a small engine oil filter.
  5. If the arm is stuck could it perhaps be loosen out to work or replaced - I can't remember the details now but there are threads in this section where members replaced the actuator arm for some reason, of course if your issue is more than the actuator arm then that is a different matter. At £1,200 I would get a second opinion and quote from an independent garage, perhaps even a VW specialist independent or a motorsport garage as they can often know more and be still reasonably priced. Good luck.
  6. To the factory employees. / Production line. PS. Pity it does not stay active. Then owners might get a warning the spare tyre well is full of water before finding it. Sunroof drains blocked. Rear Hatch seal, rear light gasket etc.

Well mystery solved, more like two mysteries! It’s the crocodile clip charger attachment for my CTEK chargers. Must have knocked it into the aux belt area or left it under the bonnet and it’s found its way there. As soon as I saw the adaptor it was a “So that’s where it went!!” moment, been looking for it for a while as it was on the missing list. Aux belt was show a bit of wear but nothing dramatic, but new one now in place. Thanks for everyone’s help. 👍👍
  8. Sounds like a battery issue - it may have had a cell give up in the cold meaning the voltage is low and the car is preventing stop start to try and charge it? I'd get the battery load tested.
  9. Sorry - I'd magic erased the number plate which then obscured the Commer on the front.
  10. Actuators are like muscles, use them or loose them. Thanks. AG Falco
  11. Eleven months on from my last post here (at 56789 miles) passenger got this for me in case I missed a round number… … then I did miss it 🙄 Doh! 😩
  12. Ok cool :) I'll replace the both the fan and the heatsink with resistor and see how it gets on, I'll report back! Thank you!
  13. Ok more than two months later and I finally have it on my driveway :D I will keep it there for another month because I need to service it first, it needs dsg and haldex serviced. I wanted to find out what options my superb has, but the Erwin website doesn't provide that anymore? Any good tips where I can find the option list? Are there free service manuals available or best to use the Erwin website for that?
  14. @Warrior193 it's the resistor in the blower fan
  15. Over 110.000miles on mine. Engine is the best part. Can't say the same about the interior. Rattles everywhere
  16. Depends which trim level you have. On the SE and SE-L it's only available as part of the Driving Assistance Package. It's standard on the Sportline and the only option for the Sportline is the Driving Assistance Plus Package which adds things like 360 camera view, Remote Park Assist and Trained Parking (confusingly it also says Lane Assist Plus is included in this package but it's standard on the Sportline). TBH trying to find out what actual features are included as virtually impossible as the brochure says completely different things to the configurator.
  17. Honestly, there's a world of knowledge out there if you know where to start looking. So I did.... And by the way; there's still no power lines involed there. https://www.connexin.co.uk/build-enquiries
  18. Brake components arrived today, 3 days from ordering to UK. Would use Autodoc again
  19. Back in Oct 2025, @wyx087 claimed that smart meters used wireless technology to send the readings back to the service provider for billing purposes. I said that the data is also carried on power lines to the radio equipement, which he disputed, saying that data could not coexist with corrupting the data, how does he explain this then I wonder??
  20. There is a repair kit for the actuator arm for the Mk3 - it seems that there were sufficient failures to warrant making a repair kit. I had SWMBOs Fabia (2018 1.0TSI, CHZC) actuator arm replaced last year - symptoms were MIL & EPC lights on, engine occasionally going into limp mode on hard acceleration. No issues following actuator arm replacement.
  21. You can buy it on AliExpress or DIY
  22. Took the green one out today after a quick blast with the pressure washer.
  23. 100% I haven't had a car that I've worked on myself for 6 years or so, and to have AliExpress and other sources of cheap OEM copy parts is an absolute game changer.
  24. ^^^ Nonsense. DQ200 2 oils, in box and MCU, Filter in MCU. DQ381 the Main Dealers in the UK might say only change oil filter every 2nd Oil Change. 160,000 miles. Crazy. Watch a video of changing oil and filter. Messy getting filter out.
  25. The Fixed Service Regimes or Variable shown in the OP in km and miles are not how VW / Skoda UK show things. 40,000 miles / 80,000 miles. DQ250 / DQ381, 2 years or 3 years, pollen, brake fluid etc. Air Filter even 6 years / 60,000 miles. Haldex 3 years / 30,000 miles or sooner. (Audi often show 37,000 miles and not 40,000 like SEAT, SKODA, VW.)
  26. Same oil box and MCU in a wet clutch DSG. & there is a filter. Diffs have their own oil.
  27. Another update from Skoda. Apparently the issue is fixed... So let's see... 🤔
  28. I turned the heater off entirely so as to remove as much load as poss. Running lights were on. And they may have been the cause of the radio reset ?
  29. Part 3 - Coming soon. All the below currently awaiting delivery. Wireless charging pad - Keen to try to add a magsafe wireless pad to the slot next to the USB port. Hopefully won't generate too much heat. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DL6ZBC3F Planning on supplying it using this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0FP5FBTB7 connected to the back of the front 12v socket via a fused line. Parts should be coming today and will look to install tomorrow/this weekend. Will add some photos once I do. Stainless pedals and footrest - I had been searching AliExpress for some RHD pedals for some time. Thanks to @JR RS for pointing me in the right direction. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005130384423.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.23.23f6180240IXhV LED rear indicator bulbs https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005102438682.html LED reversing bulbs https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006067983978.html LED fog light bulbs https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005010051387090.html
  30. If you havent already remove cluster and clean connections/make sure its seated properly. Had same on my octavia. Weird warning lights but no codes. DPF light (no dpf) Blown bulb but all ok. Few others that were very dim including EML plus foglight symbol on all the time when lights on but fog lights off. Cleaned cluster connection and refitted and it was spot on. Reckon it either came loose or got some dampness into connector. Remember to disconnect battery before removing cluster. Could also be a bad earth somewhere thats causing low voltage?Check the cluster for dry solder joints or moisture damage. Alasdair
  31. Only sign whilst driving was low coolant, so I was topping up every 200 miles or so. Never overheated, no smoke signs from the exhaust... Extensive testing was carried out by a previous owner and a Skoda delarer but never found anything. Head gasket, and all coolers were replaced by them with a lot of warranty work but problem was never sorted. Previous owner quickly got rid and I bought it from a local garage during COVID so I didn't realise a problem until after the warranty ran out! Sniff test showed exhaust mixing with coolant only after extensive use when hot... So off comes the cylinder head! No harm in getting it tested properly as gaskets need changing anyway. All running smooth after head replacement with no further coolant issues, that was 4 years and 31k miles ago.
  32. Yes, I'm logged in as primary user. I received the following 'update' from Skoda yesterday...

Tuesday morning I had to go out to fix a machine. Left home at 05:30, on the hill leading down to the main road was a pickup truck sitting with it's brake lights on. I cautiously passed it, when alongside it started to move off, then stopped when the driver realised that I was there. At the T junction it was clear, so I turned right onto the main road. As I pulled out there was a car approaching from the left about 200 metres away. I quickly got up to 30 mph, which is the speed limit and very quickly the approaching car was tailgating me. Once we were over a brow and the road was clear the driver overtook, shortly followed by the pickup truck. I would estimate they were doing 35 - 40 mph. About 1/2 a mile later I arrived at the traffic lights leading towards the A3 and who were waiting at the lights when I arrived?
  34. Ah, ok, I'll try this and report back! Thanks again.
  35. I've investigated more and the car doesn't have the complete package of ambient lightning. It only has some kind of base version which handles footrest (color and brightness), ceiling (color and brightness) and cupholer/cellphone (brightness). So the car doesn't have the full packade. LED is missing on the dashboard and the right door. Skoda seems to name the same. Problem is I want to keep the car. After more investigation it's just the keyhole cover and ODB that needs to be fixed. The car runs great otherwise. There are some laws here where I can get a lower price (example: bought for £340k, but has been in crash = lower the price by 5-15%). So that's what I'm going for now + that they fix the 2 problems that are due to repairs.
  36. It's a crush washer, therefore it flows and deforms to fit the sump / bolt. If it was critical then they'd mark one side "top". Keep it all clean and use a torque wrench. Job done.
  37. Have a read through this thread reference my cracked head. Useless dealer couldn't diagnose and wasted a lot of the previous owners money making up faults...
  38. BMW presently make cars in 31 factories, in 15 country's ( including the UK ) on 5 continents, With the largest manufacturing factory being Dingolfing in China. Thanks. AG Falco
  39. VIOFO A329 front & rear, HK4 hardwire kit (to enable parking mode), VIOFO Bluetooth remote control. CPL on both cameras. Front camera is mounted high up on the passenger side, can only just see it behind the rear view mirror from the driver’s seat. I briefly installed a VIOFO A139 Pro on the drivers side and powered it from the USB-C socket in the mirror console but I found it a bit obtrusive there. I’ve used various VIOFO cameras over the last 10yrs, build quality is excellent and never had any problems with them. The very first one I bought 10yrs ago is still working fine in my wife’s car.
  40. Nextbase.. no problems. USB cable.. right angle ends, 20cm length, USB C - USB Mini ..
  41. Definitely agree. Having had a new car under warranty for the last 4 years, I had forgotten how much fun fixing up and self maintaining older cars was! Parts are so cheap and readily available now. Even through major outlets. Euro car parts used to have 2 or 3 choices max. Now for brakes for example there’s 6 different options. And I’m certain expensive doesn’t equal better! And having aliexpress for small trim parts and pattern OEM parts is game changing too!
  42. Another job done on the interior repairs. Replacing the hand brake switch which had a chip in the chrome. £30 from AliExpress and a 5 min task to swap it. Also realise how shiny the old one had got from use. Before After Just waiting on deliver of LED tail light and fog light bulbs, and pedal covers then I’m pretty much done for now…
  43. An update for my f'up from above. I went with the unit to someone doing coding and stuff, and he said is dead. Then, I've sent the unit and 9.2' screen to another person in Ludlow , and behold, he recovered, updated to mib2.5 and is all back working now. So happy panick is over. Changed the trim above the radio also, with one from ebay, and it's all done now. Screen is way better on the 9.2', and it's not that bad without the physical buttons. 30min in the car with the new screen, and I don't miss the old one 😄
  44. It was the report of smoke behind the dash. A resistor pack can die but will fail open circuit(low fan speeds not then working). A motor can fail (consuming too much current)/ or brushes wearing out (arcing) - this MIGHT generate smoke from the motor and/or resistor pack if in use as it'll be in series to the motor. To generate smoke etc you need highish current.
  45. Possibly, but reports I've seen on the forum suggest most common failure is the resistor block.
  46. Hi, have a look here, it is a dutch site but you use Google translate. It does no give you are howto's but diagnostic information only regarding the fault code(s)
  47. I believe the Rear Traffic Assist (not maybe by this name, but you know what I mean) uses the same radar. So try to activate also this. Cannot thank enough this aid to avoid Schumachers in the parking lots.
  48. Just a point of interest that i found out yesterday that on the MK3 the windscreen wipers will not operate when the bonnet is open or on the safety catch, must be to stop damage to arms and bonnet when open, never had this on any other car before so wipers not working could also be a fault with bonnet catch
