  2. Fog lights are not to ‘light your way’ but to improve your vision by not lighting the fog up, headlight should be off in foggy conditions - that aside, the ‘fog’ we get nowadays is nothing compared to 50 odd years ago - it’s just ‘misty’…….and don’t get me started on ‘rear’ fog lights - I’m amazed at how many dorks that normally can’t use indicators but manage to find find one of the most hidden switches the moment there’s a little bit of mist……..!
  3. Not so, it's a card ID code that's unique to the VAG (inc Skoda) SD cards, there is NO extra chip.

Hi all, I’m new to the forum having relatively recently bought a 2019 Skoda Superb 272. I’ve previously had various VAG products, but this is my first Skoda. Loving it so far, although the suspension is a bit squishy. Quite tempted by the Superb Sleeper Edition mods 😉 Cheers, Pete
  5. Apologies my Touran and Karoq work that way and I thought our Fabia was the same - I usually only drive it to get petrol as my partner she’s not very keen on that aspect of car ownership!
  6. Also work independently on mine. And yes the click position is as AG Falco says.
  7. Not with mine. They work independently. Thanks. AG Falco
  8. How did we manage to drive safely before all of these warnings now flag up for us, there is a thing called a speedometer👍
  9. You can get a pictorial idea from the following website but only certain way is to offer the wheel up or fit it, unless someone has the same car as you with same suspension (steering), same setup and sitting position, and same brakes. - https://www.willtheyfit.com/
  10. You could try silicone polish on the surfaces of the plastic that touch - it may help.
  11. I would suggest charging your 12V battery before anything else, once done clear the code then take the car out on a (decent) run. If it comes back after that then it'll need further investigation...
  12. My time with the ID.4 has come to an end. It has been a very good car and has lovely to ride around in. I thought I'd give the final costs for charging. The vast majority has been home charging, the first 3.5 years at Octopus Tracker rates (generally 2-3p below SVR) and the pst 18 months on Intelligent Octopus Go 7p/kWh. There were some free charges in the first 6 months of ownership as Tesco and Aldi offered free charging back then. Paid for public charging has been while away from home, usually on holiday - notably 3k miles around France in 2023. Since getting the IOG tariff my cost has averaged 2.95p/mile. The overall cost per mile for 63908 miles has been 5.09p/mile. Insurance comparable to previous Karoq, £390 last year and £452 for next year. Maintenance has been relatively cheap. First service was £280 at VW, second service was £180 at my local independent. 3x MOTs @ the going rate, no failures or warnings given. The car has been relatively expensive on tyres, due to having to replace 6(!) for punctures/pothole damage. Only two have been replaced due to wearing out. (and one of those got a thorn in the sidewall 10k miles later!). Basically I've found the car cheaper to run overall than the Karoq was and has repaid the slightly higher monthly cost of purchase with lower bills. I'll be keeping the same track on the costs of the ID.3 that will replace it, which I expect will be even lower due to lower insurance, better efficiency and lower monthly payments.
  13. Yes, literally standing in my garage, not the workshop :)
  14. I've lurked on Briskoda for a while and thought it was time I actually joined. Thanks for letting me come on board. I am a long-term Skoda owner starting with a Felicia in 1998. I'm currently on my fifth Octavia estate having owned a Mk1 VRS, a Mk2 VRS, a Mk3 1.4 tsi, a Mk4 1.5 tsi and now a Mk4 1.5 tsi DSG. The Mk3 1.4 tsi was my favourite and I wish I'd never parted with it. So far my experience of the Mk4 hasn't been brilliant - stupid irritating faults and a less than impressive dealer response. I can't help feeling that Skoda are rather taking my 28 years of loyalty for granted and I occasionally have dark thoughts about Toyotas and Hondas. Hopefully joining Briskoda will restore my Skoda mojo. Here's the current one:

"Škoda Auto has been using the Rally Sport designation for its production models for more than 25 years. It began with a fast Octavia and today covers the entire model range, spanning different sizes and various types of powertrains." Er, sorry, what, pardon? Does it really cover the 'entire model range? Is there a Fabia or Scala RS for e.g.? Škoda StoryboardRS Four Ways. Which One Will You Choose? - Škoda StoryboardŠkoda Auto has been using the Rally Sport designation for its production models for more than 25 years. 16. Air in fuel is likely to be on the suction side from tank to lift pump and before the high pressure pump. If its after then leaks are usually noticeable. Difficult to pin point where but check all fuel lines including filter for signs of leakage including return lines from injectors. Dont think the octavia has a water drain valve on the filter. Just the top sealing gasket. You said it had a day in garage. Dont suppose they did anything fuel related? Alasdair
  17. Thanks, ordered the new clips so will put them in and get the mother in there on the stethoscope 👍
  18. That’s the way those switches work, the mirrors only heat up when the rear heated screen is switched on.
  19. Quick google and it seems it was a common fault on the 2021 Golf, with mention of a faulty (telematics?) control module... From my own personal experience, I'd be keen to do more digging before believing that. Just recently I had an airbag light triggered by a flat battery that by all accounts showed up as a faulty control module. Turns out the module software needed updating to the latest version, once this was done, the light turned off and over a month later it hasn't returned...
  20. Are Bosch wiper blades available, I always fit Bosch blades and most Karoq owners also recommend Bosch.
  21. I fixed problem , thank all you for help 🙂
  22. Other than removing the plastic A-pillar trim, always risky great 'fun' and checking it for damage and fit or something loose behind it, then no from me. That is of course if that is the actual location source of the rattle, sitting as a passenger with some sort of DIY stethoscope or just go by delicate touch with fingers. Rattles are always great 'fun' to locate and solve. Good luck, let us know how you get on.

    Hi, welcome.
  25. The "rolling radius" of the 15" steel spare with that tyre size will be the same or near enough as the 16" factory fit wheels, so no problem, also the "off-set" will be correct. Even with the bigger front disc brakes, the 15" steel spare will safely clear the callipers. Edit:- just remember that you will need to source the correct 15" steel wheel.
  26. Hello PerthshireDave and welcome, had a couple of Octavia estates myself over the years starting with a new 1.9 tdi Elegance in 2007 followed by a 2.0 tdi VRS in 2010. Both great cars.

Actual nearest available to anything from Skoda Heritage or recent Motor Sport success or Rally Heritage would have to be a FABIA. All that is available is the 130 Fabia. Warm towards hot hatch and not the weight of an Elephant or the size of a TAXI / Airport transporter.
  28. I seem to remember that this may just be a characteristic of this old engine, due to various tweaks related to emissions regs.
  29. I love the lack of clarity about what times the "ultra low off-peak rate" is available on the Next Drive Smart tariff.
  30. Page 57 of the handbook (at least on my car). Press the right hand silver button on the steering wheel to bring up the menu. Scroll to "Warning at" Press the right hand silver button again. Set a new speed for the warning. I have a horrible feeling that, once activated this warning is there for ever. It should cancel if the car is left standing for 2 hours. Maybe try setting it to 90mph as the stored value? Your car will have speed limit recognition as well, does the little speed limit symbol in the dash reflect the posted speed limit? In my car overspeed due to exceeding the posted speed limit gives rise to a little "bong" and the speed limit symbol pulsates.
  31. Sons idle on his was a bit erratic due to vaaccum leak at brake servo hose. They have a tendency to split at the joins. Fabia mk1 are all fuel injection either multipoint or direct. It may be plugs needing changed or perhaps a failing coil pack. Might be worth scanning to see if its a misfire at low revs. Alasdair
  32. I read on here a similar problem. They replaced fuel sender unit and guage worked in reverse. It was mentioned that early and later fuel pump/sender units are different and if the wrong one is used can cause this problem. As you havent replaced sender but relaced BCM I am wondering if the two are linked and its the replacement BCM thats causing problem. Might be worth checking part numbers if you still have old one. May be wrong but worth a check Alasdair
  33. Built into the instrument panel - at the right lighting angle you can see two dots around 3-4mm in diameter that are slightly different to the rest of the panel.
  34. If you're replacing the grille frame this can be done from the top of the bumper. If it's the actual grille, then you'll need to remove the bumper. I'm not sure how you'll fare getting it back on. Some of the clips need a bit of force.
  35. Hence my first question. Maybe stick with 1941 but a faster system would be nice. Heard norhing bad about 1985 so might go for that.
  36. Got a set of depo off eBay and then are very good, but this was for a fabia MK1 vrs (halogen) around £60 per unit
  37. I've got a diesel, but the plastic looks similar. It's a water trap, any deep water ingress will be trapped and drained when the vehicle is clear of the water. Short term measure to try ensure the engine keeps running in deep water - but don't test it by driving through a river!
  38. The best picture I could find online suggests there should be an upper plastic part. The idea is that the engine breathes cooler, denser air rather than the hot stuff from the engine bay.
  39. Hi John, Thanks for your time to reply! I thought I would post here to see the responses as I have just had to officially raise a complaint with Skoda. The car has been to the dealer workshop for 3 days and they completely removed the dash/door panels, re-fitted and the same rattling noises are there still, very annoying with no faults found with the dashboard retaining nuts/bolts etc. I cover around 30k a year and the car was delivered June 2025, so put up with it for far too long really. Anyhow, it's nice to hear your cockpit is rattle free! Ref the windscreen, I replaced the blades 3 weeks ago. the first week or so it looked like it had sorted it, but in the last 2 weeks with all the rain again the smears are back it is very frustrating. I drove to Scotland from Cambridge with the family and out of desperation washed the windscreen with a dishwasher tablet to try and remove the residue but hey ho no luck! 😁 Cheers Steve
  40. I reckon get it scanned in case its stored a code. Could be a number of things from air in fuel line to failing crank/cam sensor and everything inbetween hence get it scanned. Alasdair
  41. Hopefully but the couple of times I've used him has been near wheel arches so no trim removal necessary. I want to be sure that if/when he turns up, if he doesn't know how to remove the trim, I can do it.
  42. One option is to change the 205/55R16 to 205/60R16 or 205/65R16...assuming the current spare wheel is 205/55R16 6.5Jx16 ET46. 205/60R16 and 205/65R16 have an outside diameter much closer to the standard Superb MK3 tyre sizes, as shown in the chart below. Another option is to use a 215/60R16 fitted to a 6Jx16 ET43 rim (from the Karoq FWD). Unlike the standard 16" wheel, ie. 215/60R16 6.5Jx16 ET41, a 215/60R16 6Jx16 ET43 wheel fits in the spare wheel well without lifting the carpet. Superb MK3 tyre sizes 205/55R16 631.9mm (not a standard Superb MK3 tyre size) 205/60R16 652.4mm (not a standard Superb MK3 tyre size) 205/65R16 672.9mm (not a standard Superb MK3 tyre size) 215/60R16 664.4mm 215/55R17 668.3mm 235/45R18 668.7mm 235/40R19 670.6mm MWD 16236 6Jx16 ET43 5/112 57.1 steel rim (from Karoq) https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rims/details?vehicleId=1128135213981897840&rimCode=MWD16236
  43. Returning from the trip, i had 97187 and according to the TC-6 the Total consumption (Σ) was 13,9 ltr. Arrived inside the centre of the town and i had 97350 Km so the distance was 163 Km (with 2 persons and one click heavier luggages in Mountain roads, National highway and some heavy traffic till i reach my house), the Total consumption was 24,2 ltr so i consumed 10,3 ltr of fuel so the Average was 6,31 ltr/ 100 Km (44.767 British MPG) a very good result. I forgot to take an Average Ø photo because i was tired and suffered a lot to find a parking space. I made 30 kilometres in City traffic, refuel to the top, zeroed everything and now it's time for a Spring season test all in City. I don't expect miracles but the circle that began at 2025 will close when i reach the begging of the Summer 2026. I didn't took photos from the gauge this time in purpose because the Law changed here, this is an older (2025 Summer) but i noticed that at February 2026 in National highway the needle was one tiny click above the white line. Maybe the extra load or something else.

70 MPH UK Speed limits some roads, 60 mph NSL,s how much power is needed, and for towing is there not enough torque for the NSL,s while towing, UK routes including hill routes?

Shame they won't offer the 200kW iV in the Combi, seems a mistake to me - the 200kW iV Combi is what I would buy as my new tow car.
