  1. Can’t comment on him, but I travel over an hour to get to my usual service place. I pass about three dealers on the way!
  2. I think @MarioVrs has an issue with the fact that the wrong parts have been delivered and now questioning that. The thing I find is that they give you every part under the sun - even when you've selected a vehicle and that should filter out what you want: my example was the Superb 280 is 340mm front discs and 310mm rears. All other Superbs (4x4 and FWD) are 312mm front and 300mm rear. Despite the autodoc website knowing I have my car selected, they would list all of the size options. Fine if you know what to look for, but for a layman who wants to buy rear discs and doesn't spot the difference then that's where the issues arise. That isn't necessarily an Autodoc thing solely - all sellers seem to not be able to differentiate between the 3 different versions of the EA888 engine in the 280 from pre to post FL. But I think this thread is that Autodoc's customer service and ease of return more than offsets any saving over popping down to the local GSF etc.
  3. A bit of a journey, although not too far (I travelled further to see him) But I'd highly recommend giving @East_Yorkshire_Retrofits a shout. He can do everything we've talked about here, and much more.
  4. Not today, but Monday. A lovely Rover 110 at Cairn Lodge services (M74)
  5. Pretty Jag cabby right outside Exeter Cathedral: Shiny pipes! Gaz
  6. That is absolutely correct you've nailed it. It happened twice now with AD, first time with wrong front pads where they send me pads for 312mm disc even though mine are 340mm which i filtered out, checked against chassis number, cross-referenced with oem part number and even spoke to their technical team who told me that particular part was correct which it wasn't. Same thing this time, Eibach themselves confirmed which kit i need based on chassis number and load ratings for each axle. Checked with Autodoc and boom still wrong. Understand everyone can make mistake but it's the resolving approach what makes difference. In this case they failed miserably.. . lesson learnt
  7. Whilst I've not had issues with AutoDoc in terms of delivery and the like I'd reinforce the need to be very careful in terms of due diligence on parts and part numbers. A search on a particular vehicle, or even a particular part number can come up with a lot of 'variations on a theme' so it's important to drill down into the further info that is available on the webseite and to double and triple check that what you want is what you are seeing offered on screen. My example re the above is with the rear arch liners for my daughter's Citigo - they're what I wanted, look to be suitable and arrived on time, are vastly cheaper than the OE parts but are clearly 'pattern' parts that 'will fit' but that are not an exact copy of the OE part. In my case the difference is that the OE part has the appropriate fitting screw holes already in them making finding the corresponding holes in the chassis and mounting them easier, whereas the ones I ordered don't have the fitting holes and I'll need to do the reverse - find the chassis holes and then drill the liners to suit. That wasn't clear from the website and just makes things slightly more complicated (albeit not bad enough to warrant returning them given the price differential!). Also I'd suggest a careful check of AutoDoc against other suppliers such as ILLParts - as prices can vary and I found some parts were cheaper at the other suppliers.

One option might be to try the seats in other Karoqs - for example the electric seats or Sportline seats may provide a lower seating position. I'm 6' 4" tall and and due to a neck injury 20 years ago have to sit quite upright, backrest not reclined much. The drivers seat is lowered but not to its lowest setting and I have plenty of head room. Its the first car I have owned in the last 30 years where the sun visor is actually needed. I have a Sportline which has the Sports seats and a Pan roof so maybe that helps'
  9. Independents can have Licensed VW Equipment and do Software Updates and keep the Service Record available. Even do Warranty work in some cases. You just need to know who and where they are. Many have Ex VW Group master techs who want return customers and are giving a damn while many Franchised Dealership / Motor Groups could not. You have a Service History of many things never done or even looked at.
  10. Find a decent VAG Indie. I wouldn't trust a dealer as far as I can throw them. I've been sold a crash-damaged car, and lied to more times than I can count. You're paying more money for garbage!
  11. although I rate a good independant better than a dealer, I'd prefer a dealer full history if I was buying from a stranger. The VW dealer uses ODIS which is exactly the same system as the Skoda dealer and it will flag any compulsory software updates that need to be applied to your car

Started on this Forum a good few Cars ago, when the Wife had an Octavia (wish we still did!) Since then she has had over 8 years x 2 Karoqs' and she is driving her 3 year old Pearl Black SEL now. I gave up my Subaru (previously 3 Wranglers on the trot) to downsize to a Moon White SKODA KAROQ ESTATE 1.5 TSI SE L Edition 5dr DSG. At least now the wife has no excuse to not drive me home from the pub saying the car is too big 😇. Looking forward to keeping up with latest info.
  13. Quite likely it was built before May 2011 then. Let me know if anything in the above wiring snippet doesn't seem to correlate with what you find, but I doubt it will be an issue. The main problem you'll face - I think - is that the relay panel on Fabias isn't really intended for easy after-build access.
  14. I sit corrected, thanks for the info: AUTODOC unlocks UK market potential with new Manchester hub - AUTODOC
  15. I only know from the V5C the date of first registration was June 2011. Thanks for spending your time on this Breezy_Pete. It is much appreciated
  16. Apparently they opened UK based place in Manchester this year. How true that is I'm not sure. But definitely won't be buying from then again!
  17. Thanks mate 🙏🏻 it certainly has been a major pain in butt for me with mods this year 🥱😣
  18. Yes i did, been shopping on eBay since 2009. Unfortunately at the time these parts were only available from handful of places and Autodoc was way cheaper -lesson learnt

Hallo. Ich bin Sven aus Freiburg /Germany und fahre einen 13 jährigen Octavia RS der viel Freude macht. Ich freue mich auf den Austausch 👍💪 Grüße Sven
  20. Wiring diagram for CGPA mk2s built before May 2011 is subtly different but functionally equivalent, I believe. Do you know when it was built?
  21. First hypothesis is toast then. Here's the relevant circuit of the fuel pump relay - J17- and the so-called fuel supply relay J643 (which should kick in for a couple of seconds when driver's door opens for the first time after at least a half-hour layoff). Triggered via BCM pin taking the lower coil connection of J643 low. [173] connects to fuel pump. [37] is a permanent 12V from fuse 46. [136] is a feed to the ECU relay. J643 lives in position 10a in cabin fusebox
  22. Hi, I’m looking for the original firmware package MHIG_EU_SK_K1552 / MU0411 for my Skoda Columbus MIB1 High. Current SW Train: MHIG_EU_SK_P1055, MU: 0292, part number: 5E0035020B. Could you please send me a working download link or the original package? Thank you!
  23. Tesla has bigger battery and more range but BYD charges quicker. Along with Mercedes trucks lets hope they compete and there is batter products. Both BYD and TESLA are masters at putting in infrastructure of course but dealing with the UK electricity network linking is oft a problem but both are also major battery pack producers so should be able to add 20 or 40 foot mega packs BESSs to support the 1.5 and 1.2 MW charging to keep down time low.
  24. A heads up for you: did you know that eBay has a guarantee that if parts from their platform don't fit, you can return them FOC?
  25. I have had a few minor issues with AD but nothing too bad if you pay for the "safe order", normally a few quid, then returns are free should you need to send stuff back, they just send you a link you print out the label, package it up and drop it off at the post office. Never had any issues in that regard. The only thing I have complained about it swapping some parts out for cheaper ones due to "availability" and not telling me and also not getting a refund for the difference but they were quick to resolve that issue as well. As noted above it is crucial to due relevant due diligence on parts and part numbers as I had an issue with the dig bone bush as there are two and I ordered the wrong one and didn't realise until it wouldn't fit in the subframe. I will note that experiences do seem to vary an awful lot.
  26. Autodoc have many different businesses online (looking like UK based firms) but the same problems can arise. Look carefully at the delivery times and ask Ai where the business is based if in doubt. I always find out first the correct VW or Skoda part number and make sure I know exactly what the part looks like. This last bit can rule out mistakes which the sellers often make in their listings.
  27. While I am no fan of Autodoc, if you know exactly what you want (as opposed to asking Autodoc staff), parts are cheap and of good quality and I have used them several times in the past. The trouble being that "knowing exactly what you want" means down to an exact original manufacturer's part number, not just a Skoda part number. It costs quite a bit more research on internet. Autodoc do have an add on where you pay a bit more and can return unused parts within 6 months with them paying the return shipping, so if you have doubts best to use this service. For Skoda parts when I want to get exactly what is needed, I have been using a Czech shop skoda-parts.com for many years now. Consistently very good service and parts advice providing both original Skoda parts and good quality alternatives, and when they mess up even a tiny bit, they ship replacements without fuss. I steer clear of most UK parts shops nowadays, as sadly, the prices seem to be marked up 50%+. For example, a few months ago I have actually bought 2 Lesjofors suspension springs with delivery to the UK at skoda-parts.com for the price of an identical single Lesjofors spring at e.g. GSF and Eurocarparts. I doubt you can change the rails or seat frame. Best see an car interior trimmer to reform your seat.

Nope I pay absolutely no attention to the homologation / AO etc. markings. I simply look at reviews an find something that fits my requirements then buy it at a price that suits. Here in the UK next to the Pennines that has generally meant a tyre that prioritises wet-weather performance over dry grip and over the past few years given the need to deal with snow on a fairly regular basis through winter, has meant All Season Tyres.

I didn't know. I'm from Hungary. 205/55 R16 91V 2,2 -2,3 bar So far, I’ve only tried the factory Goodyear, which is homologated, and the standard Toyo. I noticed that Nexen also has homologated tires. Do you guys take the AO marking into consideration when choosing tires?
  31. The new 0334 update solves the Updates issue and also solves Wireless Android Auto connection and audio drop issues and slow response in CarPlay
  32. The BYD truck is certainly better looking than the Tesla semi.
  33. Gently insert fingers between the folds of the lower seal and run them back and forth along the length of the seal.
  34. Discs do not fail because they're lipped. Overall thickness, visible corrosion on disc surface, runout, cracking (and a few more reasons) are valid reasons to change - but your disc will start corroding at the edge the moment they're installed. 25K quite a low mileage for discs and pads but you may be an "energetic" driver or parked too close to the sea. Air-con service pretty pointless waste of money. If it works, it works; maybe worth an independent air-con specialist checking and refilling your system. They will certainly be better at it than the dealer. Strange gurglings or weak performance normal clues it needs looking at. If you survived this summer it's fine. If this is Carlisle I have had issues in the past with them. They do not ring back and there have been trust issues in the past with them. I even had the service manager ring up and apologise and state the technician in question had been "let go". Find a local independent! Full dealer service history not important as long as you have an invoice trail of work carried out. PS you are mistaken if you think VAG are that bothered about rolling out software updates for a 5 year old car.
  35. eg http://autohausedinburgh.co.uk You need to check your own regions.
  36. @Tried5UserNames Where abouts are you based mate?
  37. So I got a lot more info on my car today after calling my local Skoda dealer they gave me print outs of all of its service history which is all with the manufacturer also in 2017 the tensioner and chain was also changed at 56,000 miles to the newer revised version which has now saved me a small fortune😁
  38. Evening All. Goodness, there's a lot to learn within the settings of these cars! Since I adore cars, love driving and enjoy sharing my experiences on all the car forums I have joined over the years, I am going to use this thread to post my initial experience of ownership before wrapping it up. I'll try and do this thematically and. since it's a bit late tonight, I will start with the Canton audio system. I know, it's a weird topic to kick off with but I can keep this reasonably focused! It's really very good. Surprisingly good. I am an audiophile and I was not holding out much hope for the Canton 14+1 system but it has impressed me and tonight, dare I say it, on a 60min round trip along the Scottish Borders pitch black roads to try some night driving, I actually really enjoyed the music. And that's the thing: it is a music system rather than an 'in-car entertainment system'. The music is played back the way it was recorded in an authentic way. Some Chinese cars link the ambient cabin lighting up to the sound system to create a disco experience - folks, that's me checked out of the Jaecoo or BYD! Most folk head to the settings and pump it all up: the surround sound, the sub, the low bass and higher treble frequencies - the classic smile shape on the graphic equaliser. Don't do it people! If you do this, the first ten minutes will be bangin' but then your head will become fatigued. Re-tune the brain to enjoy music with the Eq set at zero, or pretty close to zero across the range and choose stereo rather than surround sound. Initially it doesn't sound so big but, give your brain at least 30mins to adjust and the music is clear, layered, separated across the sound stage before you. Our brains are wonderful things but they need to hear music like they hear sound in the real world, not a rave party in an abandoned warehouse. The bass is there, as are the mid-range and the treble. Set to zero on the Eq simply means we are taking the sound clean as Canton intended - frequencies are neither boosted nor reduced by the Eq. Same with the LR balance and FR fader- set to default centre so the Digital Sound Processing (DSP) is again as Canton intended within the cabin. Finally, we chose the focus setting for just the two front seats so the DSP would be adjusted for our positions in the cabin. That's how these systems work DSP adjusted to where you tell it you are sitting. We play our music from a USB thumb drive, 256GB, exFAT format. The music on this drive is ripped directly from specific CDs that have been properly sound engineered and not ruined by the brickwalling of the Loudness Era (mid-1990s onwards with a few exceptions by artists who objected to their music being ruined by the record labels). Flac format, lossless. Rubbish in equals rubbish out. Start with a high quality source and don't use Bluetooth for this type of playback. Tonight it was Fleetwood Mac. Quite how the five members managed to write and produce such beautifully crafted music when they did nothing other than argue amongst themselves and snort cocaine is one of life's great mysteries. But they did and the Canton system shone with Gypsy, Little Lies, Tusk, Everywhere and The Chain. Hugely enjoyable. Open, clear, warm and thoroughly engaging. Would I use compressed music files such as MP3 or AAC? Would I ever use Bluetooth for the connection? Yes, for convenience when I just want some music, nothing special. But if that's the limit of my expectation then I am leaving a huge amount of the Canton's potential on the table. And since we have paid for the superior music system, it's nice to hear it occasionally really shine. This truly has been as unexpected bonus. Canton? I thought it would be okay. Not annoying, that was my bottom line. I can only assume that those folk that have slammed the system maybe didn't get the settings right, or were playing poor source material (trust me, there are some dreadful CDs out there with dynamic ranges (DR) down at just DR8). Or maybe they were streaming, using Bluetooth and compressing the music data as a result. Whatever, I am impressed. It'll be another theme tomorrow so, if the Canton music system and details about setup haven't been your thing.....maybe tomorrow will be more your bag. Well done for getting this far! Best wishes to all.
  39. It's so frustrating dealing with companies like that!! They're either easy to deal with or a major pain in the bottom!! Hope ur able to get a resolution soon and get the right springs sent ur way.
  40. Sounds like you’ve either lost confidence or don’t have a good rapport with the dealer (or both), in which case I would be looking elsewhere. A good independent should be able to do everything a dealer can, but as you say finding one is easier said than done. Interestingly a Škoda dealer near me is advertising servicing for VW and Seat as well as Škoda - would be worth a chat with you nearby VW dealer, hopefully you’ll get a positive response.
  41. What pallavas! Makes me lucky the one order I did make was accurate. I did order from Spareto last week. Seemed a decent price for a pair of aluminium LCAs at c.£70 each. I needed them quickly so swallowed the £36 delivery and DHL did deliver quickly (although originally said they would deliver after I needed them). The kick in the balls was the £53 import duty DHL then hit me with. Exceptionally aggressive WhatsApp messaging and threatening early on to go down the credit collection referral. Tad unnecessary on top of it. Will def plan my parts purchasing in future.
  42. Depends how long you're looking to keep it. At 5 years old independents are defo an option but there are still people that will put main dealer history first when buying.
  43. Thank you both. I will check the rear door seals, i would never of thought to look there ! My VRs is a 2014 estate, so as Gaz says the earlier model was prone to reports of this. Sunroof water is running clear yes, I poured boiling water plus fairy liquid down the front holes, also put a curtain wire down both this afternoon. I’ll also have a look to see if there are holes under the back of sunroof near the glass but I don’t think there are. Door seals especially rear passenger side which is shown in the photo above seems the most likely culprit. This was as if a bucket of water was emptied in there ! At the moment I have her parked with both passenger wheels up on the kerb. Will be a few days until I can investigate further. Will let you know the outcome . Many Thanks guys.
  44. Update - It was actually the n/s front wheel bearing so thats a relief . Prob a lot cheaper than propshaft. Thanks all for your comments , Alan
  45. Yes that's correct. 3 different garages but all official Skoda/VAG dealerships in Switzerland... I think I'm going to write to Skoda Switzerland directly... Drop a bit of heat on the dealership at the same time. Gabbo
  46. No quite right... estate springs still fit hatchback but don't lower as much on rear as specific spring for hatchback would as estate is slightly heavier. What i received is completely different rear axle spring.
  47. Look for an independent who specialises in VAG motors, there are some out there who can service your vehicle and update the service log just as the dealership would
  48. In Mk1 Octavia's fuel tank there was an NRV on the outgoing line of fuel sender, at least in a 1.9TDI110 that I used to own, so Mk2 Fabia could have one too.
  49. I don't think so. Does the fuel pump prime when you first open driver's door?
  50. I hear that; last weekend - wrong LCAs, last minute realisation that Superpro front droplinks were still too long for lowered suspension so had to get new ones. 3 hours on one rear droplink because it just would not fit in the lower arm - had to jack up the other side to bring the tip of the arb into position, fit the end in the arb and persuade the base into the lower arm. Car fought me and @OccyVRS on everything and the final straw was me not getting the front pendulum bolt lined up in the DSG casing and butchering the thread. That now needs to be helicoiled 🤦🏻‍♂️ May also be that I’ve been too ham-fisted and either damaged a wheel speed sensor (or hopefully just dislodged a plug) which is causing some of the Christmas tree effect currently on the dashboard. Appreciate it’s not a competition, just securing my position on the bandwagon.
