  2. Selling out is easy to do if your imports from China are being delayed by disruption in manufacturing or transportation by sea or at ports. So much Halloween plastic crap including lights to get into the warehouse including lights, then the Christmas trash / lights, fireworks etc etc. the money making stuff.
  3. I never call granny charger, but yes the 13amp cable is a granny cable type 2. The charger is onboard the car not the cable. 3.6 kW sometimes. Wall box a different kettle of fish. 22 kW type 2 cable in long lengths are quite a heavy bulky thing. My EV is charging at a public charger just now using one. I will be just over 3 hours to get 20 kWh of electricity. Costing £10.50.
  4. Some intern placed an order for the bolts and accidentally ordered 20,000,000 of the wrong type I reckon!
  5. Interesting. Glad it was only a small period of 11 years-worth of production.
  6. I am going to hold off on getting home solar and wait to see if there are some bargains on Black Friday - Cyber Monday and the aftermath of those events as that is when I have ended to get the best prices on home batteries, solar panels etc. Even if I buy then ie next month I may wait until late Jan or Feb to install when the sun meaningfully returns to the Northern Hemisphere. With some help, rather than ground or wall mount, I will probably pop the panels on to one of my tracking array. As Martin Lewis says it is amazing how many people are on the variable, PANTS, tariff. Many people seem indifferent or just not getting it that changing tariff or acquiring this increasingly cheap tech can pay for itself in 2 to 3 years. About half the UK seems to be very difficult to help even for their own good, ever thus. Tech Radar reports of Octopus .................... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Octopus Energy says its plug-in solar kits have sold out again — but 'more are on the way' to save you up to £150 a year on bills News By Mark Wilson Published 2 days ago The sun continues to shine on plug-in solar... Octopus Energy says it's sold out of its plug-in solar kits for a second time. More stock of the now-legal kits is apparently "on the way" Meanwhile, manufacturer UKSOL says more retailers are stocking its kits The threat of a worsening energy crisis is pushing many of us towards tech that could help cut our growing bills — and Octopus Energy says it's now sold out of its plug-in solar kits for a second time in less than four weeks, after being "blown away" by the demand. Plug-in solar kits, which can be installed without professional help, were legalised in the UK just over a month ago. Octopus Energy has been offering two DIY kits to customers, with a choice or one 460W panel (£450) or two panels (£650, including VAT and curb-side delivery). The energy giant says that "thousands of households" have been trying to get one of its plug-in kits, but supply hasn't been able to meet demand. Octopus says the first 500 kits were gone in two weeks, and it's just sold out another batch. https://www.techradar.com/home/energy-saving/octopus-energy-says-its-plug-in-solar-kits-have-sold-out-again-but-more-are-on-the-way-to-save-you-up-to-gbp150-a-year-on-bills
  7. Thanks, I must have been thinking 'granny' cable.
  8. 2012 in other world regions they had to put a 100,000 mile warranty on them. In NZ all DQ 200,s got a new MCU not just a software update and mineral oil like in other regions, including the EU / Europe if the owner found out there was a service campaign. In Australia there was a 5 year warranty and now I think 7 years. But then in Australia and North America and some other regions it is an 8 speed torque converter auto fitted to the excellent 1.4 TSI,s. Where the World Wide Harmonised cheat testing is not necessary for the emissions. VW no faith in their no servicing product to give the DQ200 DSG a 8 year warranty globally.
  9. Seen this on Reddit and a post on the Octavia forum. No news from Škoda directly as yet.

  11. Further to my comment about my mate's 2019 VW T-Roc 1.5TSI 150PS DSG issue, his VAG Indie workshop now have his car, read the codes etc and consider that it is an gearbox oil pump related issue - £4500, repairing the DSG will get carried out by a gearbox specialist. So, roughly 67,000miles in 7.5 years and no gearbox oil or fluid changes carried out which is in line with advice by the manufacturer, could this have been avoided if the oil and fluid were changed at maybe the 5 year, 50,000miles point - who knows. I think that he was told that this DQ200 was improved in 2022 - I'm guessing to improve reliability, though cold comfort to folk like him. The car still drives - if that is relevant!
  12. @tombee sorry, don't know details, i left my car in service, which specialized on Oldtimers, for one day i had idea connect them somehow on the bumper, as they are designed touchless, but service decided veld directly. few months ago met my previous car in traffic, exhausts ends were still on place, 8+ years since install
  13. Skoda JS (industry) are building parts for Rolls Royce for these Small nuclear modular facilities that are seemingly coming and all ready creating so many jobs. Well that will be in the legal, media and planning side not digger and dumper drivers yet. Energy required for AI data centres not electric (heating ) for those in social housing, high rise flats etc without balcony solar or battery storage or a car even. Those to that can get on a bus for £2 while the bus company might get anything from a £1 to who knows how much to compensate them for the full fare. While car dealer sellers / manufacturers get £thoudsands of CAR GRANT money.

  18. That is a Nice Mk3 Estate, in a great colour. It seems to be quite a well spec'd car too? Any more recent updates at all? Thankfully it looks it's in capable hands and being looked after/pampered very well 😄
  19. Are you sure that you're not a paid shiel for the government policies? Personally, I know that I would be far more inclined to believe them if I were able to see some real evidence that they were building all the infrastructure required to cope with both the current demand and also a decent headroom for the future, along with a clear and demonstrable plan that the infrastructure would continue to grow in advance of the demand and lag it. In addition. They should lead from the front so we can all see that they are, in fact, relying solely on all the new technologies for all of their needs, both on an official capacity and on a personal level.
  20. Thanks, how much pipe did you have from the exit of the back box?
  21. Honestly, do you truly believe that? How can you be so true that the decline in gas-powered "peaker" generation is happening and is not some fabrication to create that we are actually greener? In other words, is it really just even more greenwashing?
  22. I absolutely fail to fathom just how so many people get so excited and crow about how registrations are continually on the increase when all that means is that more cars than before have been registered with the DVLA and have been given taxed status. How many times does it need to be explained that it does not mean actually sold to new owners as everyday drivers, unlike your Renault 5. Many of those cars are "registered", as they are counted by the DVLA (in other words, the UK government) as another car towards their annual target and save the motor trade from the punitive £15k fine for each car that is below their annually increasing targets. This figure is just going to continue to grow year on year until these targets are scrapped and the sales left to market forces, at which time the market will show the true sales of each type of car.
  23. Hi All I'll be picking up a 2014 Yeti 2ltr diesel next week, current owner MOTd the car today. Failed on what I'm guessing is front drop links, but they are sorting on Tuesday. The Yeti seems practical for my needs, family, space and the ability to tow our caravan. I've been around various forums for many years (Renault, Ford etc but never Skoda). I used to do all my own servicing, repairs etc but my will is reducing the older I get. Always found the forums to be a great source of info and help. Just hope over time I'm able to contribute something useful !

  25. Let's expect and hope their is something in thd budget in 27 days time. Current government wants UK household to get off fossil fuels usage in cars, homes, trucks etc and lots of financial incentives to do but needs more agents out there making it happen.
  26. Lol at you and home balcony solar. Let's see how long or cold this winter gets. Tough on those with oil heating systems or bottled gas. Tough on those with really not enough to get by on while the haves are doing along very nicely.
  27. I have had 3 different crossclimates on different vehicles, originals then + and SUV on my Shogun. The SUV,s were ****e on snow and that was coming down from 285,s to 265,s. Different snows. Being a Location location location thing.
  28. ... The Cross Climates are good in the snow. I've had them on 5 cars. Will see how the Vredesteins are on my 4x4 Yeti.😀
  29. How i wonder when electricity generation from gas is down to about a third of the energy mix and falling rapidly. Even their role as peaker plants for the 1600 to 1900 peak is diminishing as more grid and home batteries are installed plus home / balcony solar. Add to that Hinkley and Sizewell the use of gas for main stream power generation in the uk has a short future. Like to see it held back for emergency use and ships.
  30. Hi everyone so pictured is the rear of my recently purchased mk2 call me stupid but are all of the emblem/badge placements correct as per the manufacturers spec? How do people normally go about upgrading moving them around as I’m going to try and pick up some of the newer style original badges and maybe spray them all black barring the insert of the front and rear badges which would be race blue. I don’t want to risk using those crappy cheap copies from eBay as I have a friend that said they lasted no more than a month on his car 😬
