Am I alone in thinking Skoda are not as good as in the past.....
Skoda are a fantastic manufacturing company but they are tied to VW which was a good thing from the early nineties but for the last over a decade it is not good. My first Skoda was a Felicia in the mid nineties. Had numerous, more than a dozen VW, several VRSs and L&K as well as normal ones but in the mid 10s the seem to get much more expensive and not really outstanding. From then I mainly bought Renaults / Dacias and they have been the best selling versions of cars and award winning rightfully so IMO. VW is going to lose 100K jobs in the next few years and close several factories. Spain seems to be their preferred manufacturing base and I do like the Cupra brand too. Hope Skoda in Chechia survives as they are a great people and a joy to visit. Cool Skoda trams too..... Volkswagen has won the European Car of the Year award multiple times. the truth about electric cars
Wow, some journey....... A standard Volkswagen ID.Buzz has set the world record for the most countries visited in a continuous journey by an electric car – covering 61,992 miles across 92 countries in 445 days, including “more than 300” charging cycles. Technical inspection service TÜV Nord, which assessed the vehicle on its return, certified the battery state of health at almost 96 per cent. Last year, European Rally Champion, Miko Marczyk, managed 1,759 miles on one tank of diesel in a largely unmodified Skoda Superb – driven from Poland to Paris and back. Following this, a team in Colombia drove a Nissan Qashqai e-Power more than 1,200 miles in one hit, setting the record for the longest distance driven without refuelling or recharging in a non-plug-in hybrid. https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/volkswagen/id-buzz/370469/volkswagen-id-buzz-sets-massive-ev-distance-record

Octavia 1.4 TSI "bit lumpy" on tick over when warm
My car has the same issue. It’s started after one of the cylinders didn’t fire up when I started the car once. That has not happened since that one time but this issue with the lumpy/rythmic idle with the revs increasing and returning a little every 5 seconds began after this. Would this fail an MOT due to this ?

New Battery or Something Else?
I have a 2017 petrol Octavio which I hadn't used for a couple of weeks and when I tried to start it the battery was flat. I charged the battery for a few hours and locked the car without starting the engine as I was in a rush. When I went back and tried to start the engine it wouldn't start and the alarm started going off. There were lots of warning lights on the dash and I couldn't stop the alarm using the key. I ended up having to disconnect the battery to stop the alarm. I'm guessing there's probably a problem with the battery and that I'll have to replace it. Do you guys agree or could it be something else? The current battery is the Banner EFB 6R0 915 105 B which I guess is the original one. If I have to replace it, any recommendations for a reasonably priced alternative? And will I have to get it "coded" or something before it will work? What does that involved please? Thanks in advance!

Brake pads wear indicator does fabia colour edition have brake pads wear indicator light on dash ?
Does yours? I'm struggling to find mention of the pad wear sender in any wiring diagrams for mk4 Fabia, or mk3 for that matter.

Brake pads wear indicator does fabia colour edition have brake pads wear indicator light on dash ?
@Lar Only 2,000 miles, but over 4 years, maybe the low miles mean your pads do lots of cleaning off surface rust on the discs. Or you just use the brakes lots.

Black window trims
On my 2019 Scala, the plastic window trims have faded in a patchy fashion. If anyone else has experienced this, can they suggest the best product to bring back original finish?

Cambelt change for 1.5TSI engine
I had this indie garage replace the Cambelt yesterday, the price went up to 575. Still a good price and no idea why it is less than others have experienced. They are all ex VAG mechanics. The breakdown of costs, 180 +vat for belt kit, 300 + vat for labour. I’m guessing about 60/hr for labour for a five hour job. I know it requires quite a bit of dismantling.

Brake pads wear indicator does fabia colour edition have brake pads wear indicator light on dash ?
Lar Every Skoda Fabia Mk4 Owner's Manual refers to there being an orange/yellow warning light for "Worn brake pads". The light looks like this and is shown in the "Indicator lights" section near the front of the Manual and in the "Brakes" section further on ("Brake Pads" in the Manual's index.) I believe it can be safely assumed from this that all Fabia Mk4s have a brake-pad wear-sensor that will trigger a warning light when the pads become unduly worn. I did check whether that particular warning light would appear on my 2024 Fabia SE L's instrument-cluster when I turned on the car's ignition. It did not, so I presume it only illuminates when worn pads are detected. (Your forum Profile suggests that your Fabia Colour Edition is a 2022 model, so I'm doubtful about the mention that "...it has done 2k miles..." in your enquiry. Perhaps you meant "...it has done 20k miles..."?)

Air quality sensor replacement
Welcome to the forum. It shouldn't be too difficult to find a competent A/C engineer near you, try a trawl on Google and take a careful look at their reviews.

Am I alone in thinking Skoda are not as good as in the past.....
Tend to agree, not as good as they used to be. I've had various Skodas since 2002 [all purchased new ] starting with a Fabia Elegance TDI estate and now on a 2025 Karoq 1.5 SEL which has already had warranty repairs on some weird problem with the infotainment display. Dont have the same faith in them as I used to.
