Touch wood not really got softeware issues , did on my previous one but they are across the VAG group and in my experience not helped by many technicians seeming not to understand their systems.

Snow chains with 18" wheels
I would try 205/60R16 6Jx16 ET35 (non-standard offset for this tyre size) on the Kamiq with snow chains from the Octavia MK4. These Octavia MK4 snow chains fit 205/60R16 6.5Jx16 ET48 wheels on the Octavia MK4...but clearance is not guaranteed on the Kamiq...although there only needs to be a few extra millimetres of clearance compared to the guaranteed 195/60R16 6Jx16 ET35 option on the Kamiq for rubbing not to occur. The 18" wheels would be sold, perhaps individually because owners are often damaging them due to their vulnerability. Power steering issue
Think its electric hydraulic steering. Check the level and condition of steering fluid. If the lights are dimming it may be a fault in the electric pump or perhaps corrosion in connectors or an airlock. From memory to bleed top up with correct fluid and leave cap off and turn full left/full right till bubbles stop. Alasdair

Superb Estate
@Mark10061 That can be as much as 20,000 miles / 24 months. But have it serviced anytime you want sooner & then reset to Fixed and 9,400 miles / 372 days or sooner. All depends on how you use the car, and how you have things checked / inspected to suit your use.

Head Gasket?
This is for Mk1 but not much activity there so posting here also, thanks Hi All, AUQ 130k miles Has been losing coolant and white smoke out of exhaust for a while Replaced some coolant pipework and thermostat which stopped it for the most part where it appeared to be leaking Notice a slight shimmering film on top of coolant reservoir before driving Drove for several hours and coolant red light on dash came on with alarm As close to home (and temperature not going up) drove a mile or two to house and parked up Left overnight and checked coolant this morning and its changed colour to a murky brown (from darkish pink) The level of coolant it above minimum so not sure why the alarm went off as level and temperature seemed fine. One thing I noticed when opening expansion tank was a pop and hiss (escape of gas?) which hasnt happend before especially after leaving over 12 hours. Is this likely to be a head gasket gone or an oil cooler letting oil into the coolant or something else? no white may on dipstick or under oil filler cap (does use a bit of oil though as need to keep topping up) Any advise appreciated, Thanks

I have sorted the others out , it’s a lose piece of material or screw you can hear it sliding about . Just cannot work out how to dismantle it to gain access . Booked into the dealers , see what they do. The rest were sorted with a bit las of felt and silicone lub.

Another matter that has got me thinking is the service intervals. The car says it's every 18,000 or two years. I'm not sure I have ever had a car that could go two years without a service, and 18,000 miles on the same oil seems strange.

AC coolant level/ system function indicator?
Thank you, @rum4mo and @CianKT ; I'll take the car out some time in the next days to where I can park it, running, warmed up (easy in the Mediterranean heat!!), with the A/C running for a while, and plug in my OBDelevent. rum4mo, I apologize, I don't quite understand - what does the "online - ambient temperature dependent" mean? cheers, -Jay

Tire pressure value can not be seen on central infotainment display
Works if the tyres are though 🤣

Tire pressure value can not be seen on central infotainment display
Passive TPMS only (pressure loss determined by ABS sensors, not direct measurement of pressure) on the Superb. Bit of a let-down on a supposedly top-of-the-range car, really.

Little-known fact - "Skoda" is Czech for "rattle". The trim build quality (along with the software) is the big thing which lets down what should be a great car. I've had mine a year, and I'm still chasing rattles and buzzes in the trim and plastics.

Do you have any pics of them? The metal is rubber coated to prevent scratches, albeit it's not very thick.

The 280PS Thread
So been on hear for years but haven't posted in ages. Had a MK1 Octavia 1.8 petrol that did a sterling job of protecting my wife and baby when involved in a crash on the M25 that involved going up the embankment. Had a few Honda Accords and an S-Max before getting a MK3 Octavia 2 litre diesel. Finally took the plunge and bought an 18 plate 280 Superb estate sportline, for more passenger and boot space, as I'm 6'5" have a 15 and 17 year old who aren't short, my wife and the dog. So anyway bought the car 1 week ago, ran if for a week or so locally and have just driven it 500 miles from the Peak District to the west coast of Scotland for a total of 9 hours of driving. Observations are that there is loads more space than the Octy, ACC is awesome, and I'm glad I got the 280 rather than a 190 diesel. Made overtaking on the A9 easy. MPG on the trip up was 32, so not too bad. Ride is way more comfortable than the Octavia, but does wallow a bit over undulations so thinking Bilstein B6s or Koni active shock upgrade at some point. After the journey me and my wife both commented that we were way less fatigued than if we'd have taken the Octavia. So far, so happy.

Outback going, what next?
No touch screen but I've figured it out. There are teeny little touchpads on either side of the steering wheel just needs a swipe of the thumb to skip. Easy when you know how. Also no touch screen you have to the the wheel, touch pad combo thing. Which works but isn't wonderful. Yeah, salesman warned me about 'crabbing' they are prone to it, the 63s even more so. Luckily for now I'm a very low mileage driver so not the end of the world. The tailpipe is wonderfully antisocial though. It barks and farts and bangs even when you've not got it set to noisy. Also no eco-mode on the AMG they don't even pretend

Other than alloy wheel corrosion requiring scrubbing the wheel and resealing, which normally gives a slow puncture effect ! I've had that on a few older Subarus.
