  2. I don't think that's correct. The only MQB cars with an alu subframe are the S3, RS3, GTI CS, R and top spec hot Cupras. I'm reasonably sure the vRS, GTI and nothing else has an alu one, let alone the Karoq, Kodiaq or whatever! I've got an issue with my steering (knocking from steering column/dash when wiggling side to side), so will be getting the car on a lift on Monday. It's unrelated, I'm sure, but talk about timing!
  3. I've tried in the past to become a member of this community but for some reason lost track, anyhow now is What counts and it feels good to be here I'm hopeful
  4. Hello there thanks so much for your kind assistance, just trying to make certain that I abide by all community rules which I've read thus far
  5. Hi and welcome to Briskoda πŸ‘‹ Normally we ask you to introduce yourself in your own topic instead of adding to someone else's but as you're new here we'll just overlook that πŸ˜πŸ‘ Feel free to make another one if you like or if not that's cool as well
  6. Good afternoon to all where ever you are in the world I hope this hello is being posted the right place if not the site staff will assist me I'm sure. I live in Barbados and there's somewhat of very small Skoda community here (Stress on the phrase VERY SMALL) last Skoda fabia model sold in Barbados was in 2005 said thing for the Octavia models, at present there is no representation for Skoda in Barbados, perhaps may never be again, time will tell. I own and drive a mk1 fabia hatchback with the BBZ engine 74kw 5 speed manual
  7. I have just bought a brand new Skoda Karoq, 1.5 TSI, petrol and I was wondering when should I do the first oil and oil filter change for longlevity of engine (vw508, 0w-20)? I own a Skoda Fabia, 1.0 TSI, petrol from 2018 and I did the oil and oil filter change firstly at 5 000km and then every 8 000km (vw 504, 5w-30) and car is now at 92 000km without any issue.
  8. There are threads on the Octavia forum about this. I would suggest that you compare the petrol automatic with the petrol manual because of a) AEB in the manual; b) the lack of torque and the revs dropping away at low speeds in 3rd in a manual. I think that the engine characteristics suit an automatic, not a manual.
  9. I’ve had a look in the engine bay and the only thing that side of the firewall is what I would consider the motor for the blower (the bit to the right of centre) but if some could confirm this I would appreciate it?
  10. Haha, yeah I probably did dredge this up a little! I've got a manual so I'd doubt it was gearbox related. I'll have to keep investigating, but I'm glad to hear your Yeti didn't go kaput 10 miles later or something, bodes a little better for myself.
  11. New Chicklade site on A303, not far from. Stownhenge look impressive, opens i. 5 months ready for spring, summer, autumn busy time. Instavokr site in the similar form to Gridserve's Electric Forecourts. My son took my Scenic to the Gatwick EF, very impressed. No drop in power unlike what seems to happen at smaller Gridseve sites but then it does have 6 MWh of irs own battery storage for its 30 odd chargers. Bring on the Home Park Plymouth Electric Forecourt please. Devon already has one jf the biggest, if not biggest, EV charging hubs at Exeter Services with over a hundred chargers I gather.
  12. Wow, I'd forgotten this one from 7 years ago! It definitely wasn't exhaust related but we sold the car the following year. is your Fabia automatic as I wondered if it was the mechatronic unit starting to play up?

  14. Got a 22 plate Fabia. This morning, a message popped up to say check headlight. I noticed it was flicking when on full beam. Went into Halfords and they said because it’s an LED light it needs a whole new unit unless I can find a garage who would strip it down to just replace the bulb. This seems ridiculous that a whole new headlight unit will probably be needed. How much is that going to cost? More than a bulb for sure!! Has anyone gone through this and could advise of cost etc and what to do (apart from getting it done!)

  17. You should get auto glass to fix the chips, they done that on mine but it didn’t last long, so got an official Skoda replacement
  18. I've noticed this issue recently with my 1.2 TSI Fabia, were you ever able to find out what caused it?
  19. I was under the impression that, by 2025, all Skoda Fabia cars had, as standard, a 10.25" Virtual Cockpit. However, I now realise that the SE Edition model is the exception and its standard 'screen' specification is as stated below Infotainment and Navigation DAB - Digital radio reception Wireless SmartLink for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto 8" Skoda Infotainment touchscreen display 8" Digital display There's a video about the 8" digital display here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-REdqHbOqs Although you will not be able to have the separate round rpm and speed dials display you were asking about and that's available with the 10.25" Virtual Cockpit, there's still quite a lot of flexibility. The full digital 'look' is very tidy (image below) and what I used to use on my 2021 Hyundai i20 that had a similar type of instrument cluster.
  20. Annnd just picked up her up. Water pump and LSD oil change has been done by the dealer (at no cost to me) and, full service history with Skoda, recently had DSG serviced too. Right now, I'm a happy bunny πŸ‘πŸ» All in all, an excellent service from Skoda Southend.

  22. Hi All,I haven't posted for a while, Wifey's Tdi Yeti still trouble free until last week. Had 2 new tyres fitted on front, 3 weeks later she gets a nail in one. It would have been an easy puncture repair, but she drove it (miles?) until after parking somebody told her the offside front tyre was flat. She got no TPMS dash warning and said she couldn't feel anything odd in steering (?) although as soon as I arrived to put on the spare I could see the body canted at an angle. The new tyre was trashed and unrepairable. I checked the driver manual for TPMS and despite a procedure, there's no reset switch in the switch panel. Sad because I have a 2007 V.W with TPMS. I've been through VCDS long coding for Gateway, ABS, and instruments modules, Settings in MFD now show tyre pressures but basic ABS indirect doesn't use pressure sensors. A dash symbol for TPMS does now show up. So what's up? Does the coding procedure here and in other places only refer to a Yeti active sensor system? Can I still get the basic ABS system to work? Do I need the TPMS hardware loom cable and switch to get it active? From old drawings of kits it just looks like a switch on a pair of wires. When I scan the system I now see new module 4C in the Gateway list, but it's empty of data or not communicating when scanned. Is this a real control module hardware addition for active sensor TPMS? Any help appreciated, particularly if you have a 2012 Yeti with the TPMS reset panel switch. Does your MFD Settings say anything about indirect TPMS or offer a second means of reset? In the process of coding I accidentally hit ABS basic Settings 'start test' and got into ABS fault error 0486 loop that was really hard to get out of.
  23. I just did an oil change on my 2015 Fabia III 1.4 TDI and had a slightly alarming experience with my oil extractor pump. I've used this before without issue. I inserted the hose through the dipstick tube as normal and didn't feel like I'd pushed it in especially far. I gave it a wiggle as I turned on the pump, but when I came to remove the hose, it was completely stuck. After a bit of careful pulling, the hose unfortunately snapped about halfway along the dipstick tube. I then removed the dipstick guide tube from the engine (mercifully easy!) and, with some gentle but firm persuasion, managed to retrieve the remaining section of hose intact. Thankfully, nothing appears to have been left behind in the engine, and everything is back together and working normally. What I'm struggling to understand is how it got stuck in the first place. My assumption was always that the extraction tube bottoms out in the sump. I certainly don't think I forced it in excessively, so I'm surprised it managed to snag on anything. Interested to hear if anyone knows what it might have caught on.
  24. This is driving me nuts. In my headlight cluster, there are 2 bulbs. A short one with a wire attached, and the bulb cannot be removed. It is held in by a spring clip. What should I be looking for if I need to replace it? The wire has a spade end which can be disconnected to completely remove it once the spring clip is undone It lights up on full beam after the main bulb stops moving Silly question, I know, but as I said, driving me nuts on the net.
  25. @pab567 Hello, I have a 5L0035680E unit with the 00:00 clock bug. Can you please provide me the link for the MST2_EU_SK_PQ_P0369T firmware? Thank you!

  27. Just got rid of a nightmare 1.6 tdi , the regens started being a problem , the water pump broke , the egr played up , started cutting out randomly, never got to the bottom of this , the electrics were dire and her dash was often an xmas tree however i love the size and versatility of these so i have bought a low milage pre dpf 1.9pd , this is more like it and much better economy
  28. Hah yes. You know what you mean. Has got me wondering though. There are list of β€˜. Mens shed clubs’ around us for woodworking etc. turn up , chisel some wood into a cupboard or Something. Pay to use the time there. Wonder if there is anything similar for the mechanics world where you can use a 4 post and some air tools. Slightly off topic but just gone down a mental worm hole!
  29. I was the same. Got quoted Β£700 for my sons MK1 fabia plus was going to have to wait for a few weeks. Decided to do it myself as time doesnt cost me anything. Managed to do it for around Β£200. Cars worth about Β£1000. Used to have a local garage friends I new well and they said if I ever needed a shot of there lifts help your self over a weekend as long as they were free for Monday. Alas Robert retired and garage is now gone. My plan is to get myself a 4 post lift in the next year. Will pay for itself in no time plus will be able to get on top of underbody corosion properly and these days I'm getting a bit old and stiff for crawling under cars. Alasdair
  30. Thanks Sharpy. Yeah. Found a guy online Who does them on the drive out the van but he seems fairly well drilled on it (6 axel stands, decent matting and a load of Milwaukee guns). Just trying to find a cheaper way round it for an old car. Don’t really want to turn it in
  31. Thanks Alasdair. Yeah I know I’m my head it’s a pita but do like a bit of tinkering. Just weird to spend 1200 quid on a car worth about the same!
