Throttle Body issue
A second hand one will put me back in same circumstance of needing to clean it 😃 do you think the one I did clean is okay and the limp mode EPC code is just not going to clear without the vcds clear? Looks like a controversial subject on here if they will clear by itself or not. I did unplug it when cleaning. Guess will know for sure when the cable comes later

the truth about electric cars
@Graham Butcher I would not want some of the early EV crap. Point just is there was an EV generation before Tesla. C1,s were converted to EV,s. Point is that doing Google searches is all good and well, but all this stuff is mentioned again and again and is still in many people's minds without a google. Hoorah on the Recall of vehicles with hidden door handles. Unlikely the EU or UK authorities will be requiring the same from manufacturers. But they are going to have to design cars differently.

Paint Protective FIlm
Thanks for the link. I've tried one of the ready cut PPFs for the Yeti in the past, but they're very flimsy indeed and formed little protection.

Skoda connect stuck in private mode
Could this be a record for the longest time to receive a response? I think the op gave up checking in August 2025

Oh! Gawd! Skodas used not to be like this Looks like VAG are trying to be more like Fiat than Fiat themselves I'm still driving around in a 2002 Octavia ( think thats 17 years now ) 'n it just works

Buy a secondhand one as they rarely fail. Match the entire part number including letter suffix.

Problems with sinosmart rear camera
I think the sinomart injects a modification to the unit. If you retro fitted a camera then you must have coded. remove the code and check.

Even if the brakes lights work it could be coincidence and the switch is failing. Something about the car thinking brakes and accelerator are being pressed at same time so cuts power. Think you can do the calibration with vcdslite and also it may ping up some other fault codes that generic readers miss. Alasdair

Automatic electronic handbrake
automatic electronic parking brake. Parked the car as normal but left it in gear as I always do. Returned to the car pressed the clutch to take the car out of gear and start the car. Car started to roll forwards. Braked to stop the car. Then drove away. Next time I stopped I noticed that the automatic handbrake not working. Went into settings no tick in the box for automatic handbrake so tried to turn on the automatic handbrake but get the message “This function is currently unavailable” Any suggestions please Handbrake working correctly manually.

the truth about electric cars
Yes, I'm aware that many ICE cars have flush door handles, but the recall report specifically mentions Tesla; hence, it is an EV truth. Also, those recalls have just been published in the last few hours. I'm also NOT a conspiracy theorist, and pulling lines out of a post without the full context has zero meaning. The post by @Evolution13 specifically addresses those cars with electric door handles and says that all new cars in China must by 1st Jan 2027 have mechanical door handles inside and outside to ensure safety during power losses and crashes. No not in the slightest. Would you want a G-Wiz? A G-Wiz is officially a quadricycle, made in India with an 11-year production run of just 4,600 units. I used to see these in London, at a top speed of about 20mph, range of 50 miles and zero crash protection. Citroen never officially made an electric version of the C1, I think you are confusing it with the Citroen Ami, which is also not a car; it's an electric quadricycle with a top speed of just 28 mph and a 46-mile range so its not anything like a Nissan Leaf, or Tesla. Talk about rewriting history; I was surprised that you never went for something like a 1914 Beardsley electric car. 😉

No, but the need to set route data from the navigation system should be eliminated.

Skoda connect stuck in private mode
delete the user and just sign in as guest, remove app from phone it's all but usless and wants subscription and money for anything even remotely useful. Plus you have to login every time with a stupid 4 pin code just don't need the hassle so they can track and report you if you go to fast etc. it's all about control the only thing worth having is the honk if you lose your car and the tracking if it's stolen , which in fairness if someone can steal your car they will likely know how to deactivate it's location so all in all it's worthless.

Hi Cairus, Are you saying that the matrix should only work with pACC?

Throttle Body issue
Hi, I will check the brake lights but would be big coincidence if that failed while I was cleaning throttle body :-) though murphys law does love coincidences. I have ordered a cable as it looks like for a 2004 the VCDS lite might work to reset it or at least read the codes and see what is going on. Just don't know if I should order a new throttle body just in case or not. Will have to be an order as nobody carries them locally. Thanks, DDW

The pACC has been deactivated. The system not only affects the speed, but also the lighting, etc. Normally, if pACC has been deselected in the menu, it should have the same effect.

Which Octavia Scout would you choose?
Beware - some of the above info is incorrect... all Mk2 Scouts and 4x4's had DPF's, even older PD140 ones, as they were fitted with the BMM 8v engine and not the 16v one without DPF fitted to other variants.

Side lights
Personally I'd avoid Halfrauds. I had a dipped headlight bulb fitted by them. The car failed the MoT a few days later because the "expert" forced the bulb in upside down.

VCDS is vw group diagnostic software which you can buy from Rosstech. Someone on here may have it near you and could help recalibrate it for you. If not it will need to be done at a vw/skoda garage or specialist unless your local garage has access to vcds or alternatively OBDeleven. On another thought are your brake lights working. A failed brake light switch can cause EML and limp mode? Alasdair

I will try to find out. I don't know him, he is a friend of someone I know and the topic came out during a chat, then my friend took me to see him. He did say its difficult to find if not using ODIS. I'll let you know once I will get in touch with him. Its pretty much disabling GPS to communicate with A5 camera. Then camera is relying on what it physically sees.
