What actually makes you think that electric trucks will out perform ICE ones in terms of towing etc? That certainly has not been demonstrated by the electric vans, or indeed cars towing caravans has it? Manuefacturers hyped up claims are never ever matched in reality and nowhere is that more evident than in the EV world.

At motorway speed the drive by noise is dominated by tyre noise, so EV or ice the noise levels are similar unfortunately, and can, in fact, be higher with EVs due to the harder compounds and structure of the tyre needed for their (usually) extra weight.

It may be the alarm siren backup battery thats failing/failed or also check the voltage of the car battery. My old donor cars go off when the battery gets a bit low. Try hoovering the sensor in roof. Think its near the interior lights. Sometimes a build up of dust or in my case a small spider was setting it off. Think the siren is rh front wheel arch under plastic cover. Alasdair

Lovely. I had Superpro front droplinks on order but researching the length reduction on lowering meant they were still too long. Got the longer of the two RacingLine offerings as could adjust when on the ground. The TT arms have a solid rear bush - just standard front one though. Question @MarioVrs H&R says ARB bushes go in dry - did you go along with that?

Welcome back and nice to say hi again @mannyo Last time we met was either at JKM on a rolling road day or at one of the New Forest meets. I'm afraid my trusty MkI Fabia Elegance (154.5bhp by the way ) has long since gone. In between I've had a MkII Fabia which was sold when we moved to Germany, a Rapaid Spaceback (sold a month ago) and I'm now in a 2023 SEAT Ateca.

It's been a very long time since I posted anything here. Over the last few years, life has thrown a lot of curveballs my way, both good and bad. Some may remember me from the very early days of Briskoda, from what I remember I think I am something like member number 6. I was very active for a very long time on this forum, I started with my Mk1 Octavia vRS, one the first imported into the UK, then got a MK2 Octavia 1.9PD and then a Mk2 Superb. From there I had a couple of Audi's. Then life got in the way, both my Parents passed away, I got made redundant from my job in Dorset and times were tough for a long time. Today I am back in my home town, have a job working for a previous employer, and became a first time buyer in my late 50s after years of renting. My present car is a 2017 Volvo V90 Inscription with 2.0TD engine. I got it 5 years ago with 28K miles on it, and it now stands at 71K. So I am still around, I am not going to post much, but just saying hi. Here are two of the Audis, both taken at Briskoda Meets. Once is at Gaydon and the other was up noth somewhere.

Skomaz - success (I hope) !! I had a closer look at the join between the headlight glass and the black casing and there appeared to have been a minute gap, literally millimeters but crucial. I've run a clear piece of tape all the way along the join and despite rain and a dip in overnight temperatures, the headlight lens has remained perfectly clear for nearly a week now. 😀I'm hoping this has finally solved the issue and so thanks for your feedback. I just need to make sure the tape stays adhered now but if the worst comes to the worst, I now know what the issue is and I can easily put some clear silicone along the join. Cheers Skomaz. 👏

This is the quickest way I can access this data using VCDS. In theory, it should reflect the actual condition, but I’m not entirely sure whether I’m correct.

Can anyone help please. My alarm has been going off on my 2012 Octavia, I have tried turning off the internal sensor but to no avail. Seems to keep going off at intervals, especially at night which is making me popular with my neighbours. Any help would be very gratefully received

EVs are quite apart from tge standard tyre rumble and aero noise as motor almost silent though it does sing Jean Michelle Jarre when sub 20 mph. We are still waiting for those ENSO tyres which can give 10% more range and presumably are quieter as well.

I think it was also mentioned at the time of introduction as a means of noise reduction for those living alongside the motorway.

Just to chime in, my car 2014 Vrs 2.0 Tdi CUPA engine, manual gearbox, has 248kkm now and OBD11 shows oil ash mass 57g with the limit being also 80g. My car uses about 1,5dl of oil per 1000km, has been like this for the last 100kkm. Only used 5W30 oil. The engine has good power and i can get 5-5,3 liters/100km consumption with 225/40/18 tyres in the summer with speeds of 100-120kmh.

Our 25 plate Monte Carlo Edition has DCC and I wondered what experience others have had with it. When in normal D mode the suspension is ok until to come across bumps or dips in the road where it becomes a bit wallowy on the rear and sometimes bounces the boot content around. When in Sport mode the same bumps are dealt with well though the general ride quality is obviously harsher. It seems the rear damping in normal D mode is virtually nonexistent. Bumps taken at between 30 and 40mph. I currently have individual mode set up with the suspension set to sport but everything else to normal. Anyone else seen similar?

Hi, I have a Mk 2 Kodiaq. I am going to have the genuine retractable tow bar installed at my local dealer. I am assuming the tow bar will be compatible with my caravans alko hitch. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Best compromise I’ve been able to find is adding a TTS solid rear bush to the rear of the front lower arm and a poly to the front. The 034 stuff is solid and well put together.

They were actually introduced for a few reasons not just air quality, which is one element and caused by a variety of factors in that location, including industry, the shopping centre and the sewage works etc. The other reason for their introduction was to reduce dynamic loading on the viaduct during repairs but that rarely gets mentioned as it's inconvenient for National Highways.
