  2. Thanks, MikeI... I only have one "page" of apps, and it only has three items on it (Sound, Laura and Phone). There's no swiping in either direction, and no sign of a Traffication app. Thank you, too, Rifleman. I have the "MySkoda" app (8.15.0), and there's no "Paid Services" item under Profile, (or anywhere else in the App) It remains a mystery to me. best, M.
  3. Ah, i see ☹️ .. Thanks for the clarification.
  4. Well if you’re going to remove the bilsteins before selling it I’ll have them! 😜
  5. I think that this one is just not meant to be, come to realise that these feel better when fully loaded etc, must be how the rake is other wise I feel the rear is always light but its more stable now with the Bilsteins
  6. That’s a shame as the cars are great. Bristos on the other hand, not so much!
  7. Fixed service Regime set for Non Long life oil or Long life if you want fixed is 15,000 km / 9,400 miles.372 days. (so no setting at 10,000 km.) Flexible / Variable 30,000 km / 18,000-20,000 miles / 24 months.
  8. I should probably add, the Fabia is our first Skoda. I've flirted with the idea of a Skoda for years, never quite pulling the plug. in 2003 I was looking at various new at the time cars including Seat Leon, Octavia vRS, Honda Accord etc thanks to my company giving me a car allowance. I was going to give the vRS a go, but the Sales droid was the most hateful person in existence, essentially telling me to do one rather than let me try a vRS out. I ended up buying a MG ZS instead. First Skoda but not first VAG car... I like the Idea of VAG cars but never seem to like ACTUAL VW's... the car replaced in the above car buying round was an Audi A4 Mk1 and nearly bought a MK IV golf TDI PD 130 in that hunt, but again, there was just something I didn't like about the Mk IV. and finally, my first ever car was a facelift MK 1 Polo in ALMOST the same colour as the Fabia (except considerably paler in fact VAG technically sold the colour as a silver - and the paint code usually came back as an actual silver - Silber Grau - despite it should have been Silber Gruen. but i don't think VAG knew what consistency was in the 80's/90's 😂) but at any rate I find it amusing that the Fabia is essentially a Polo, in almost the same colour as my old Mk 1.5, and in all likelyhood, my son will learn to drive in it, if not have it as his first car when the time comes... Assuming cars that old haven't been chased off the roads altogether by then!
  9. Hi @pab567, I have a Bolero MIB1: 5E0 035 840 A / MSTD_EU_SK_P3420 / MU 0435. Could you please send me the MSTD_EU_SK_P6230 MU0490 firmware? Thank you!
  10. Hello, For some time now, I have been trying to change the service interval on my Superb from 15,000 km to 10,000 km. The car displays the Service Reminder Status on both the infotainment system and the instrument cluster whenever a value other than 15,000 km is configured, regardless of whether the warning value is set to Warning Off. I have spent quite some time experimenting with different combinations of the maximum and minimum parameter values in ESI, SIA, and FIX, as well as combinations such as Good Oil and Poor Oil, in an attempt to change the service interval type from flexible to fixed. The reset button for the service intervals on the instrument cluster automatically changes the oil setting to Poor Oil, but the reminder still appears when starting or switching off the vehicle. I even tried performing the reset with the hazard lights switched on. The reminder only disappears when the service interval is set back to 15,000 km and appears when is close to 200 km. What are the correct steps to configure a 10,000 km service interval and a reminder for 200km left till service, and where am I going wrong with the parameter combinations? Best regards,
  11. @Warrior193 private seller I think they’ve picked it up directly from salvage. Had a family/ local friend fix it up and done a semi pro job. Now are wanting a different car / change of kind and want to sell it on. I’ve offered £3600 they countered £4k. 4750 -20% (Cat N) - 200 for brakes and bumper inconvenience. I mentioned the mismatched front bumper (missing headlight washers), front brakes needing done soon. And MOT due in just November. Also that cars are required to have a new MOT once written off regardless of Category. But seems like she won’t budge so I’ll possibly have to walk away. Sometimes it’s better to put it on black than trust a stranger in the marketplace that wasn’t being honest from the start. I learnt this from when my 1991 mr2 timing crapped out and cost me 3.7k in total when I was 24. Saddest day of my life at that point.

  14. Today
  15. Hey @Binx1310 sorry for the delay in coming back to you. I was away in Cornwall/Devon last week, France was fine we drove to Bruges also. The latest trip to Devon etc highlighted some niggles with the car, which has not been made any easier to the fact the car has to go back for a 3rd time to have the issues of trim and damage to some parts needing to be addressed still, with that early next year we will look to move away from Skoda!! The centre arm rest still doesn't shut correctly, steering wheel misaligned, fixing bolts missing so the centre console is wobbly (found the bolt when hoovering the car) other trim not right or unsure why it has been touched etc, A pillars either not put back correctly or just covered in dirty finger prints and then the centre dash vent not put back correctly along with the a rear vent trim broken!! I was looking to change for that newer Skoda but told the sales girl today I wouldn't buy another due to the workshop not being competent in putting a car back together and so don't trust them if the car had to go back moreover with a newer car. I have raised my concerns with the service manager (who has been very understanding, knowing its not him doing the work and having to go by the workshop) so its back on Monday! But the recirculating button does work!
  16. I basically lived in the centre. One stop out from HBF. Berliner Tor. I didn't have a car with me but a Student Bahn pass so S/U Bahn was my lifeblood! But I guess when you live out of the city, it's a mare. I worked out of the city in Ahrensburg and had the reverse problem
  17. Nothing lasts forever. Belt may be ok but tensioner and maybe waterpump may fail. Still do mine every 5 years/60k for peace of mind. Alasdair
  18. Very true about being nicer but for me it's more of a practical mod, car is getting lowered next month not much but where i live there is awful lot of speed bumps
  19. The Kamiq alloy rims from the standard Skoda parts catalogue are very expensive...perhaps 2.5 times the price of the same wheels (except for the OEM part number) from the Skoda alloy rim accessory catalogue. However, not all factory alloy rims are matched in this accessory catalogue...but it's worth checking. Skoda alloy rims with OEM part number format xxx601xxx are from the standard parts catalogue, whereas Skoda alloy rims with OEM part number format xxx701xxx are from the accessory catalogue. These can be ordered from any VAG parts department by quoting the relevant OEM part number. 20. To help understand what ADAS is, the below information was found using AI...However, I doubt replacing or repairing a damaged alloy wheel would require ADAS (if any is fitted) to be recalibrated. In VAG (Volkswagen Group) cars, ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. It is a collection of electronic safety and comfort features—utilizing front cameras, radar units, and ultrasonic sensors—designed to monitor the vehicle's surroundings, warn the driver of hazards, and actively intervene with braking or steering to prevent accidents. Common VAG ADAS Features Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC): Maintains a set speed and safe gap from the vehicle ahead. Lane Assist: Tracks road lines and provides steering input to keep the car centered. Front Assist / Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB): Detects sudden obstacles or pedestrians and applies brakes. Side Assist / Blind Spot Monitoring: Warns of vehicles hidden in adjacent lanes. Park Assist: Automates steering inputs during parallel or bay parking. Importance and Maintenance in VAG Vehicles Safety Compliance: Meets modern UK and EU vehicle safety mandates. Precision Calibration: Requires specialized diagnostic alignment whenever a windshield, bumper, or radar sensor is replaced or repaired.
  21. I'm looking at buying an Octavia scout. One is a 2010 model costing £5500 with nearly 100k miles on the clock. It's very tidy and straight. The other is an ex NHS doctor car on a 19 plate with 46k miles on the clock costing £9999. As it has been effectively an emergency car, it has a few holes in panels where a radio has been and other holes in the boot panels for heaven knows what. Which one would you buy? I think I'm going to toss a coin.
  22. Hi all, I am Michael, I'm old enough to know better and I live in Stourbridge. I am the proud owner of a 2004 Skoda Fabia Mk1 Estate with the 1.2 HTP engine where the previous owner was a fan of parking by feel, and deaf considering the absolute drone the exhaust is giving right now. It's a long and fruitless story about how I became the owner of the vehicle. It started away back in 2020 where upon the impending birth of my first born child my wife demanded I bought a more reliable/safe car. I bought a 2006 Land Cruiser which was cursed. While it was off the road for the first time of many technical (and EXPENSIVE) issues, I thought it'd be a good idea to spunk £1,500 on a Rover 827SLi. That can never worked. At all. So while I got the Land Cruiser working, the Rover festered. I then saw sense 18 months ago and sold the Land Cruiser and bought (on a whim) a Subaru Legacy Estate. Great car, I should never have got rid of it, but when child number 2 came along in December last year I PX'ed for a Peugeot Partner. Reason being I found it increasingly difficult to strap my now 4 year old in to it, so I thought I'd get a taller car. I bought a nail, and sold it at a loss 6 weeks later when it only worked for 2 of those days. Strapped for cash and really done with cars, I decided to not buy another car. I have a 2010 Peugeot 107 which I recommissioned and I've been driving that ever since. The problem though was that kids tend to grow, and my 4 year old is a tall lad and with me being 6ft 3 he was struggling in the back of my 107. While this was going on, I decided to give the Rover one last go. I failed. I came to the conclusion it needed electrical work which was many hundreds of pounds, many hundreds of pounds which I don't have (or wanted to spend to be honest), so I was starting to decide whether to scrap the Rover or move it on to someone who enjoyed inflicting pain upon themselves. I then came across this Fabia for cheap. £400. I decided it'd be a good stop gap and while I tried to strike a deal with the seller, I mentioned that I'd have to get rid of the Rover first to placate the long suffering wife who now maintains a "1 in, 1 out" rule. He suggested a swap for the Rover, and while I said it was fit for scrap he felt it was worth the challenge. So we did the swap, he got the Rover and I got the Skoda. Other than a 40 minute drive home, I've not really been able to drive for one reason or another. It's got a slipping clutch, the exhaust is LOUD (like a wet fart at a funeral loud), front electric windows don't work, driver's wing mirror has left the chat, and it's cosmetically challenged. However, a new clutch kit has been ordered, new window switch, and the exhaust has just separated from the clamp so that in itself isn't a huge deal. A friend has a unit and owes me some time for helping him move cars, so we're pencilled in for the 29th August to sort the clutch out etc. I have never owned a Skoda or any other VAG product, I've only ever driven my Mother In Law's Fabia which was a Mk2, but I am seriously impressed with the Fabia at it's age. Everything feels lovely to touch, the action of the indicators for example. The interior, even though the previous owner was teething or had dogs that are responsible for chewing the rear head rests, is really good. Clean, nothing seems to be missing, very well kept and presented. Even if the car is a 3 month, 6 month deal, it just needs to cart my sorry arse to and from work and be able to transport my two boys places while I load it with various tip run items etc. But initially, and I say this in the hope of not annoying the car gods, so far this car doesn't seem too bad. But I think it's evident from the start of this post that I either have pure bad luck with cars or I give them the kiss of death. This is a free car essentially, with a new clutch, and if it carries on working then I'll be happy.
  23. Had, rather than has. Up until a few years ago (2023) when they dropped 5 year recommendations in the UK. I don't believe that applied only to engines made from 2023 onwards.
  24. It does, but with auto hold off in a dsg you can make your final maneuvers by just pushing the brake pedal and changing from D to R to slowly get in the space, no need to blip anything and risk moving too quickly. In some cars the press on the accelerator to release is too much.
  25. An aluminum oil pan is nicer. I had a steel one for a year, but the threads for the drain plug weren't good. Then again, it wasn't from ECS
  26. I've just had this query too. Noticed a slight uneven were on the front inside tyres, got the tracking checked. This was a few months ago, squeezing out a little extra time on the tyres. The tracking was only a little bit out. I replaced the tyres this week. When I was getting the tyres change, they said I didn't do too bad. 20K KM , Lowered on Sports Springs and 15MM spacers all round. Because there is no Camber or Castor adjustment, only Toe, I was told that's all they can do. Bridgestone Potenza S001 235/40R19 96 W XL Cloth and wire exposed at the very end.
  27. I always have this activated, as all you have to do to release it is to blip the accelerator. The car will then ease forward (or backward) for you.
  28. Schleswig-Holstein about 25Km or so from the centre of HH though I rarely go to the centre as it's a PITA unless you take the U-Bahn!
