  1. Hi everyone, just a quick update on the situation. The vehicle has been inspected today by a separate Skoda dealership / repair centre to the one that originally did the work. The mechanic has emailed saying the cambelt was fitted incorrectly with a bolt not being torqued or tightened properly causing it to come off. I will keep you all updated on what happens.
  2. I couldn't wait any longer, had the shocks installed this morning. Anyone wondering whether or not it's worth it, it is. Driving normally, it's slightly firmer than it was, still very comfortable. When pushing on, along country roads.... wow!!! the difference is night and day. The car feels more composed and you feel much more comfortable and in control when pushing on.
  3. The air vents look untidy however unless you drive with the seat fully forward or look under the seat you do not see it. The covers offer some practical protection from objects entering however I just vacuumed the objects out. The covers add reasonably significant air flow resistance. The ventilation system in the car will have undoubtedly been designed without considering restricting the flow. It is a question of form over function.

Hi, Have you tried Myskoda app on your phone. You can get a service record direct if you can't get one from your service bloke. Btw I have located a VAG repair shop locally, does all VAG motors and has proper access to the service record system, using genuine parts etc. Will have a look when I am released from captivity!!!!
  7. Well I've got that unit in my first Yeti and all the things you want/wanted to do worked and still work. Let me know what help you need and I will try to suss it for you.
  8. D52 is the wrong size battery for the car. It’s way too small. The original part no is 6R0 915 105 B and quite a bit larger.
  9. Email from darkside today the fabia is done! Few changes to the car since last time. Having made the most powerful 1.6 cayc that was properly documented (having seen some of the spec lists and info from the ones in turkey it didn’t make sense they were making the claimed power so really uncharted territory. It was abit of a monster then one day it seemed to struggle on power. Got the car back to darkside and was down on compression which we thought was a valve or a piston ring but then noticed some marks on the bore. Darkside stripped the engine down and we discovered rods 3 and 4 were bent (tdi reliability yo). Looks as if it might have been bearing failure. Hunt started to find a replacement 1.6 block although in talking to darkside we decided to go a different route and swap in a 2 litre CR140. As the 2 litre is effectively a stroker kit on a 1.6 and we could swap the cams over and other parts so I bought the 23k 2 litre out of the 4WD caddy van they built and we upgraded the turbo to a GTB2260VK (was offered the engine less than what a 1.6 block would cost) Fine tuned over the weekend and it’s now 274bhp getting up to 282 on meth. Should be good for a couple of years then will get bigger injectors and a bigger turbo again 😂 They also made me a stool from the old engine 😂
  10. I had posted about the car reverting to Normal driving mode in the other thread of first impressions, but since it was early days with the car I wanted to experiment some more and set everything up properly. Now, after 3 weeks of playing with the settings but more importantly confirming this with other fresh owners of MY19 cars and the user manual itself I believe it is a given that MY19 cars or at least MY19 cars made after a certain date have this behaviour from factory. So, I have set up 2 different profiles, assigned them to different keys, the car detects the key and greets the assigned user and remembers ALL settings that particular user has set, as it should be. There isn't any issue of profiles forgotten or of keys mis/non-assignment. The only thing which is not remembered is in which Driving mode the driver left the car in before turning off. Well, not exactly. You see, in the 1st user profile, I have set the Individual mode to DCC Comfort and Drive to ECO. In the 2nd profile the DCC and Drive are set to Sport. Whenever I select one of the two user profiles, the actual Individual settings of each one are correctly stored and retrieved. 1st one will have an in Individual mode of Comfort + ECO, the 2nd an Individual mode of Sport + Sport. I don't need to re-register those. It's just that after turn on, Driving mode is ALWAYS set to Normal by default. Is my car broken? Well, already another MY19 owner ( @Avskum) who picked up his car just last week (mine was built on the 17th of January so I assume everything after that date at least should be the same) confirmed the same reverting to Normal on his car and I would appreciate whoever reporting which behaviour their cars show on this, to supplement it with the build date. @SteHaworth you should be picking up in the near future so would be good to know what's the case with yours too. Furthermore, I found two pages of the user manual (finally) confirming this is normal: Page 56 on the PDF, regarding options that Personalization remembers: "Driving mode - the last selected mode, mode setting Individual" At first I thought it meant which mode you were last in, but actually I think it means not that, but which settings you selected in Individual mode, not which mode the car starts in, as happens in mine. Page 244 on the PDF: "After switching the ignition off and on, the drive is set to Normal in the current driving mode. To change the drive setting, select the relevant driving mode again." That is pretty clear I think. It would be interesting to compare the content of the same chapter/page of MY18 user manuals and see if that statement exists there. Regardless, I am pretty sure this behaviour can be changed via VCDS. Browsing the 09 - Central Electrics module the other day, I found an adaptation called Personalization or similar and that seemed to hold several User profile parameters. If only it wasn't half in German half English... PS. Re-reading the 2nd bit I quoted from the PDF it refers to the Drive aspect (the gearbox mode) and not the driving profile so not the confirmation I was after really. Still...
  11. The SEAT Ateca has just been updated, and now the Karoq is following suit! I'd guess it's due mid to late 2021 (so MY22) as the Kodiaq will be getting its facelift version late-2020 to early 2021. According to Carscoops.com: "An updated version of the Skoda Karoq is being readied for the market, although it certainly won’t be radically overhauled from the exiting model. The Skoda Karoq hit the market back in 2017 as a replacement to the beloved Yeti and while it hasn’t garnered quite the same cult-like following of the Yeti, it has proven itself to be a good crossover. As these spy images reveal, the car manufacturer will largely stick with its winning formula in updating the Karoq. Visually, alterations made to this prototype are minor. Despite camouflage covering up the front and rear fascias, we can see that the Skoda will benefit from a newly-designed grille and may also sport different headlights with new graphics. The camouflage at the rear does a good job at hiding what Skoda’s designers have been up to but when the facelifted Karoq does land, we expect it to feature new taillights and a new rear bumper. If the carmaker sticks with the typical mid-cycle facelift formula, a series of small updates can be expected for the cabin of the 2021 Skoda Karoq as well. This will likely include a new-and-improved infotainment system while the same overall layout of the current model will likely be maintained. We can’t yet say with certainty what engines the updated Karoq will be available with. However, many of the engines from the current model, including 1.0-liter TSI and 1.5-liter TSI petrol engines with 113 hp (115 PS) and 148 hp (150 PS) respectively, could be maintained. A selection of diesel engines can also be expected, including at least two different 2.0-liter options. Skoda may tweak the available engines to lower their CO2 emissions." So nothing to get too excited about, I'm just waiting to see what changes are coming for the MY21 car!
  12. I may have screwed my diff bearings through making a stupid mistake with the drain plugs, so I have a couple of saved E-bay listings of complete diff assemblies with Gen 5 Haldex pump & controller included and they were all around the £250-300 mark inc delivery. If the pump alone is that price it might be worth looking around, buying a complete unit using what you need & selling on the rest, you would still need the oil though, I re-used the old O rings, its easy to judge if they are serviceable, parts not so easy to find here and delivery costs can be prohibitive, if they had been damaged I probably have the right sizes amongst my stock of random O rings otherwise I have a splice tool for made to measure ones.
  13. Is it number 15 in the attached pictures. No idea what the last one, without the number is though lol.
  14. If its a fault showing on Carista its 99% certain the pump has gone. Don't ask me how I know this.........twice 😞 Luckily first one was done under warranty but they didn't change the filter only cleaned it......... 😞
  15. This was resolved weeks ago. I'm also well aware of how to open the door from the inside. However, when the battery is totally dead, the doors get deadlocked, so there's no way of opening any door other than the drivers side door.
  16. In that case, I'll need to edit out all the filler if I ever want to hear Warren Zevon in the car again.
  17. Knowing Skoda, that probably is the configuration of the new Karoq EV - the trailer is a permanent fixture for the battery!
  18. Ok well i hold my hands up, it was all my fault, it was the air filter i had a k&n filter in the car and last year decided to clean it i bought the proper k&n cleaning kit with the oil dispenser. I must have put too much oil on it (but didn't think i had) but that was six months ago with too much oil on it it got clogged and the MAF did not like it, i changed it for a Bosch paper filter and the car is fine now done a 150 mile round trip today and not a problem. Needless to say i won't be going back to the k&n.
  19. There seems to be no easy solution.

Thanks, I’ll email them and ask for it all. I’ve got the MySkoda app but I suppose if I were to sell the car it’d be better to have it all on paper. Glad you found a repair shop, sounds similar to Volkservice. You don’t get a coffee and a paper if you decide to wait but it’s cheeeap!
  21. I would add on that list 1.8tsi which I have but even with IRS the suspension is bad but at least it offers more aftermarket upgrades.
  22. aaah right, it's above 150 which is IRS
  23. With mk3 only the vRS models and those with awd had independant rear suspension. Yours will be torsion beam
  24. I am really pleased with it, although with lockdown I have not had much use of it, no long runs, just a couple of trips to the Post Office every day. I have done 800 miles in the 3 months and hardly used any petrol, still shows 200 mile range from new when I collected it with a full tank I charge it a couple of times a week and 95% has been on electric power. No rattles or squeaks and nothing has fallen off! Not had to use it for any work trips so have not loaded it up yet, I know it is smaller than the Superb so will not be dissapointed when I cannot get so much in it. My work collegues used to call the Superb 'The Tardis' they cou;ld not belive how much you could get in it!

Carista throws up a fault code but nothing visually.
  26. I think the Wireless CarPlay has just made the list. Will also look at the Qi charging too. Currently have a Brodit mount but never been happy with it.
  27. I assume that's a road test mule, as even allowing for the camouflage I can't see any difference to basic grille shape etc....?
  28. Thanks I have had some new ideas to try, if they don`t work I will be in touch.

Just ask them to print it out, and email it to you, or ask Skoda UK Customer Services, or any Main Dealership can pull up the service record and press 'print'.
  30. I managed to get a friend to do the install... it was all going very well until the instruction step 15 where the wiring into the BCM starts which resulted in a lot of swearing, loads of brews and that great British not to be defeated attitude of not letting it get the better of us (well, him). Removing the trim and rear seat was very easy, the hardest part was removing the wires from BCM module C, we just couldn't do it, so in the end we decided to split into the 2 wires, not ideal but it was better than wrecking the module. The BCM is very awkward to get to as well, especially if you have fat chubby North West England hands.

There were certainly many other Sorentos in the parking lot when we went to the Freyburg Fair and some great tractor pulling competitions which me & my mate spent many hours watching! In the West Country tractors are the new "company car" - lunchtimes in my small town see lots of tractors parked outside the Spar buying their lunch 😄

Lane assist is there to stop you driving up the wall 😂😂😂
  34. @shyVRS245 the oil temperature range is the same: from about 94 to 105-106°. Although I believe that under certain conditions it can rise further . But I remember last summer during a 200 km trip on highway (35°c sunny day) oil temperature was 110-115° all the time.
  35. I use theUK standard 17" in the summer, and winter tyres on 16" in the winter. The ride on the 16" wheels is so much better that I wish this car was on that all year round. (My previous Yeti was the Greenline version which came on 16" as standard) Personally I think the car rides best on 16" wheels, it must be awful on 18"!!
  36. You could increase the fuel pressure slightly by changing the FPR for an adjustable unit.

I'm all for soft suspension, car manufacturers have been obsessed with handling for too long. Hard suspension, big wheels and low profile tyres do nothing for me. My commute isn't influenced by whether I can take a corner 10% faster, it's all about absorbing rough surfaces, potholes, excess standing water and doing it quietly and fuss free with minimal cabin intrusion. If getting this means my car rolls an extra 2 degrees on a 60mph B road, laps the Nurburgring a bit slower and results in me losing a game of Top Trumps to a photocopier salesman in his Audi A6 then bring it on.

  42. No drone at all, I was very worried about it. There are two differences from the OEM sound that are difficult to hear through video: 1) at about 4000 rpm the downpipe resonates if accelerating gently (and this is a uncommon situation, so no problem) 2) turbo whistle is more present with new central resonator Yeah, I agree. I prefer to have exceeded in silence rather than in noise...but in the end I'm happy with the result! At least now you know that for going stage 2 or more you don't have to have a noisy car 😎
  43. Being a 2010, your car probably has the original version of the timing chain tensioner that's known for being crap, in which case it'll need the upgraded parts kit (03F 198 158 B ) which runs to about 100 GBP on its own. Have a read through this thread for more background:
  44. I had a mk1 octavia 1.9tdi mapped there over about 9 years ago, very happy with the results
  45. Vent covers will cost around a fiver, from Aliexpress with postage. I have often read though, that the sticky tape they supply is not really up to the task but this may partly be due to not wiping the surface of the vents, with an alcohol wipe first!
  46. Yes, those 'apparently unfinished' vent opening are normal, and reading on this (IIRC) forum a dire warning about the extreme difficulty of extracting a pebble which had made its way down the vent - and caused a lot of rattling - I decided to put some vent covers over them. Obtained the vent covers via a well-known internet retailer....

The purpose of lights on a car are both to see at night and to be seen! Why make it more difficult for yourself and everyone else?? I drove down the M1 a few months back in a hailstorm at dusk, and was passed by a BMW and Audi racing each other through the mist and realised they were completely invisible once they were a few yards away from me despite having their lights on !
  49. Yup! Amended... 😉
  50. Well after 3 years in the Kia wilderness thanks to an ignorant and insulting Skoda dealer getting my back up I have finally returned to the brand, after previously having an Octavia and 3 Superbs before the Kia Sportage, which wasn't a bad tank to be fair, I'm relieved to be back in the lap of luxury in my new to me 190 Sportline DSG, 100 miles of comfortable driving done just today since I picked it up at 11!!😁😁😁
