  1. So today I got a good wash done. Lowering springs are well bedded in and im happy with how it sits on the 20" alloys 😎
  2. Mines poor, anywhere from 22 to 30 around town, 35/38 on a run. Mind you it's 240bhp and I can't help pressing the loud pedal. Other 2.0tsi owners get way more mpg than as you will see. Can't say I bought the car for economy though, if i wanted that I'd have bought 1.0 fiesta!
  3. Inspired by Roscio's stage 3 efforts, today I have had fitted a 3inch centre exhaust section, in preparation for my stage 2 upgrade. The centre res has been replaced with this https://vibrantperformance.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1527_1032_1054&products_id=292&osCsid=7314c85bb8343fbbdc280f8761ae5ae4 All in all the new sound isn't intrusive as I thought it might be, so I am happy indeed. 250 quid for the centre section pipework fitted, and 64 quid for the resonator itself. A local powerflow shop did the job.

A few companies do these now. Latitude do some nice ones for a lower price.
  5. My personal opinion - most cars don't actually need discs on the back, old fashioned drums would be fine, but they put discs on because they look shiney. The flipside of this is that they hardly do any work compared to what they're capable of stopping. Modern cars are built cheap, so they use cheap steel on the discs, which rusts over easily and rips the pads up. We've had this with a caddy van that doesn't do many miles when I put cheap discs on it, I replaced them for a set of (second hand ) Brembo's and it's not been a problem.

I have Suntek Ultra PPF, one of the best films in the segment. Minimal difference in orange peel compared to the rest of the paint, and since I got the whole front end done there's no ugly line somewhere down the bonnet. I would 100% recommend getting your B pillar trim PPF'd to avoid swirling since the trim is so soft.

335d, 313hp, 630Nm the cars do make you push on because it's so damn easy. It makes other people seem slow because you can power out of bends and limit changes so easily and overtaking options that would be silly in a less powerful car look quite reasonable all of a sudden. There is no skill involved, the car has 4x4 and an auto box so you can just floor it in a straight line and the car goes faster. I used to have a Mini Countryman with 122hp as well. I would drive far more agressively in the BMW if I wasn't thinking about it; in the mini I was happy to tootle around. In corners it does feel like the BMW would quite like to kill me. The TC does not go off, it will spin all 4 wheels in the wet if you're heavy footed. Do I feel like the car is too powerful? Nope And I would look for my next car to have considerably more if I can get it.
  8. ok. But did you know that that number is inversely proportional to driving pleasure, right? pay no attention to it, in the end it's definitely lower
  9. let me tell you my opinion... these cars are made to tranform gasoline into smiles, not to turn gasoline into trips from A to B. Don't be shy and push that pedal! I mean even without exceeding the speed limits you can very well consume more than that. Anyway, just for you @shyVRS245

Just got the new Firefox Mobile app this morning. It's awful The end.
  11. Thanks mate! Sits very well, no spacers needed. Still kinda oem too, wheels are off a vw tiguan 🤓
  12. 20" are sitting so nicely within the Superb's arches, not a clue of being an aftermarket size I sometimes regret not going 20" with my Ispiris but they're glossy black so maybe it wouldn't matter too much, just a black tire following a black alloy after all Looks great!
  13. The one on our Fabia is definitely plastic, but 11mm across flats I think, so a bit more grabbable. I'd be tempted to leave it. Although it may well be mucky, unless you have reason to believe air has got in there I'd be surprised if it wasn't fully functional. The slave cylinder has a relatively benign working environment without extreme temperature, so even if there is a local slight water content, it's very unlikely to boil and cause trouble.
  14. Use the 3 years manufacturers warranty and let an Approved Repairer / Main Dealership get it sorted.
  15. So you've got nothing by way of alternative explanations? ☺️ Seems a bit lame considering how confidently you rubbished my post.

No idea about that eBay one, but the Amazon Basics ones are fine with all our Apple devices including my iPhone XS.

Thankyou so much for your help, really appreciate it and finally I feel like I'm getting somewhere. The bilstein shocks 22-145550 are the ones I need, thanks to you.i have sourced them at Gsf at £63 each.I just got confused because when I put my reg in any online site it was showing me different ones to mine.i guess they are after market ones.im not that clued up in this field, unless the owner of my car before me has upgraded them,I ain't to sure how this has happened.but thanks to yourself I have found the right ones at a reasonable price. So my gratitude to you Wino. and you carlston, who I got the part number from.
  18. So here's an interesting thing I found. It's a concept BMW designed by Mr Gandini (he might regret this one). What I found of interest was the weird grills. Reminds me of something......
  19. I wasn't suggesting you were a kid by the way - I meant your kids or the kids - not you personally 🙂
  20. Had to smile, mine is doing it again and then as I set off the display 'helpfully' shows something like "cannot continue whilst driving" and locks out the normal screen 🤪. p.s. - I only ever do short trips so it could be some time before it finishes, perhaps just in time for the next update.

  22. They're very good to mod. 200bhp is easily achievable with a decent turbo. Mines. 151hp and 330nms of torque. It wipes the floor of the Mk6 sts which is what I was aiming for in the build. A reliable daily built with OEM parts. The only non genuine item I used was the clutch. Used a CG centre plate 4 unsprung paddle. Turbos off a Mondeo. Bolts on just need to clock it. Genuinely a great little car. Maintains 55 to the gallon all day as well. I do a lot of milage so everything has to be immaculately cared for. I don't want a failure I could've prevented.
  23. Thats fairly terrible. The only antidote I can offer is my husband drove that exact spec car as a curtosy car from our dealer in Edinburgh back home. The car DSG gearbox was up down the range like a yoyo and would cause the vehicle to wildly rev before changing up....very un-nerving and really bad MPG from his experience....1/2 a tank of fuel for the 100 mile round trip!!!! (and he is a super careful driver). Things that might need to be looked at: 1) Make sure that air filters and oil are all good and clean 2) Make sure you don't have sticking brake calipers 3) Tyres pressures are all good. Failing that; its back to the dealer to see if there is revised firmware for the ECU / DSG gearbox. If it is a DQ250 or a DQ200 then I would also want to look at performing a service on it as well. @e-Roottoot will also want to tell you about a firmware recall. We have differing opinions here, but the general concenus is check to make sure there are no recalls and I would state that DQ200 box will need a service.
  24. I think the car automatically applies the e-Brake when you switch off the ignition. I could be wrong though. But if not - that would be even more of a reason for my brakes not to have failed so early!
  25. Auto-hold and parking brake are different things. Auto-hold retains pressure in the hydraulic braking system, so keeps ALL the brakes on, until released. The parking brake is physically engaged, electrically, on the rear wheels only. When you’re on auto-hold (green light on dash) and then turn off the ignition, the car THEN engages the parking brake (you can hear it), and the light goes red.
  26. > don’t usually use the auto hold as I have to creep slowly into my garage and it makes this more difficult .😬 < I struggled with this choice for ages: have the convenience of the auto-hold, OR have the convenience of “creep” and easier manoeuvring. Occasionally, I’d turn off auto-hold in a difficult manœuvre and then forget, later relying on the brakes to have come on, when they hadn’t ... After ages (over a year!) I realised I can have “the best of both worlds”. Leave auto-hold on, then when manoeuvring put foot on brake and press down the handbrake release ( the “P” button). Auto-hold goes off - but only this once!
  27. From the bloke who bought mine last week specifically for towing & because it had uprated springs but now decides he should have been told that the ride height was 20mm higher and objects to having to fit a drop plate (I kept the one that I had on it) because his trailer drawbar is too low, he really did ring up complaining and expect me to pay him for newer new springs (they were only a year old) and 2 new tyres because he had punctured one in driven with it flat 🥴 Now I have got that off my chest what you need are Lesjofors part number 4295088, highly recommended (except by one person) and I have just fitted a set to my Yeti 4x4 Outdoor for which they are the standard fitment. On the Octavia Estate they give a slight lift and a higher spring rate without any change in ride comfort or handling. Cost €22 each plus €15 delivery anywhere in Europe bought direct, webpage can be set to English.
  28. my cousin has one of these for his Jaguar XF and it looked pretty cool. He seems to like it
  29. That's an odd thing to happen, i keep cars for a long time, 10yrs or more and never had anything like that. Is it fraying in just one place, or all along? 🤔
  30. Hi Pretty straight forward job - probably less than an hour on ramps. Would be suprised if they need to be done at that mileage... but as been said there was some issues previously Would suggest you ask about warranty IF they need to be done... Cost of parts from Skoda Ireland So seems they are charging you £180 to fit...

Driving an EV daily has never been such fun for me. 1,500 miles covered in 15 days and i have paid twice for charging because i was needing to get a move on and did it at proper Rapid charging. So that cost a total of £11.34. 136 ps / 260Nm might not sound much but when it can come on like the flick of a switch it does get you up the road and away from tailgaters without a puff or cloud of smoke and just a bit of a spraying of washer fluid. It becomes quite addictive driving as though you are Karting or at the Dodgems. Point and squirt. Corners are fun but attention really needs paid to getting speed scrubbed off and just how heavy a wee car actually is when it wants to skip sideways or you are going over humps and yumps. A 93 max speed is fine even though that proves to not be the fastest it will go when the road goes down hill. The biggest surprise to me is how quickly they can go up very steep uphills.

Anyone who chooses to buy a more specialised car does so for a specific reason I reckon. So a 335 driver wants performance (in it's many guises), economy, fun and decent build quality I would think. So a 335 driver on average probably will drive quicker than a base model 3 series owner and not just because of the power difference. Yes there will be aggressive drivers in base models, there always will be, but when I got a 330D equivalent from MB several years ago, I didn't want it to drive like Miss Daisy (I assume she didn't drive very fast, if at all?). I agree with Aspman and would love a car with more power than I already have. It's not looking so likely these days because of the virus effecting my work so expensive cars might be out in the near future and also I'm not getting any younger, but maybe one last hurrah would be nice (maybe a Dax Cobra ). Power does corrupt, that's why I like RWD 🏎️ (that emoji is ridiculously small!)
  33. This is probably one of my favourite shots taken so far! A quick visit to Swanage to pass the time, walking along the beach and saw this lone Sandcastle standing tall despite the incoming tide and rough sea
  34. Supposed to, yes, but it's not the law, BUT..... the police over there do take pleasure in fining. The main thing I've seen people getting 'spoken to' about is speeding. For a lot of vehicles you can't change the bulbs at the roadside. Loads of Citroens are bumper off jobs. Woe betide someone driving a PF mk3 has their front indicator go, as you'd be expected to have a scalpel, the repair cap, as well as a bulb. Be fun trying to change that at the roadside. The best thing I'd suggest is to ensure you've all your documents, the breath test kits, a warning triangle and a hi viz within reach in the cabin for everyone who'll be in the car. European breakdown and recovery is a must. Also, make sure the minute you're off the ferry / chunnel to switch the beam direction on your infotainment menu.
  35. Dealer has had my car for the last day and after checking everything over again, playing around with tyre pressures and swapping them from side to side/front to back again they are 100% definite that it's the tyres causing the vibration/drone. So guess i'm living with the noise until I wear all four tyres out. Bit annoying really. I didnt expect them to offer to replace £600 worth of rubber for free but am a bit frustrated that it came with the tyres that make that level of noise. Never had it before on 50+ cars, especially not from new (with the exception of a mini with cupped/sawtoothed runflats - that was insanely loud). Was pleasantly surprised that they only charged me £14 to stick a litre and a half of oil in the car though. They weren't so happy when I returned the courtesy car in limp home mode and a engine light on.
  36. I've heard it's around 3 weeks, depending on which port it lands in and whereabouts in the UK you live.
  37. More likely condensed water drained from the A/C evaporator housing, I think.

TAKE TWO. Yes it does, went out again, with a tape measure, measured outside of window which showed it should fit. A bit of force, in it went, dont know if I'll get it out again. 🙄
  39. I regularly drive from Surrey to Manchester and back in a day (400 mile round trip) I find the seats very comfortable and the car gives me an ideal driving position, although at 5'8", I'm not exactly the jolly green giant ! once on the motorway left foot is welded to the foot rest and the right is only occasionally used as the cruise control does most of the work. IMO it's a great long distance cruiser that is extremely frugal for a small SUV
  40. Mine. I have it 5 months now, the first 3 we were in lockdown and it didn't move much!

    Semi automatic aka DSG?
  42. In my opinion, this is one of the most needed mods (visually) on this particular car: widening the tracks, either by spacers or better, wider alloys. I haven't come across any other equivalent VAG car where the wheels are sitting so much inside the arches. I'm guessing Skoda could only widen the MQB tracks so much, but that wasn't enough to fit the much bigger and wider body of the Superb (compared to the rest of MQB cars). If you look at Golf R's, Cupras etc. the wheels are sitting nicely close to the fenders from factory (as they should), on the Superb they are at least 15mm further inside, almost lost in the arch void it's ridiculous. 15mm spacers will be fine although what would be even better would be to go for wider aftermarket alloys (yeah I know, 10x more expensive). That way you push the wheels 13-15mm out, you save at least some or lots of unsprung mass (stock alloys weigh a ton each) and improve the looks in one shot. This is how it looks on 19x8.5 ET37 alloys (13mm further out than stock), no spacers of-course, that was before lowering and once I saw it I decided to lower on Eibachs right after as with the wheel further out the arch gap was more obvious: Lowering is also a good idea if you don't have issues with a slightly lowered car. Eibachs drop it 25/30mm on front/rear and together with wider alloys or spaces it's a great combo. Comfort is almost unaffected, the spring rates from Eibachs seem to be really close to stock ones.
  43. Droning can be caused by certain makes and design of tyres when worn down a bit. I would imagine if you fitted a different brand of tyre your noise will be gone. I dont get any drone with my Goodyear F1 Asy 5's. You can also fit increased noise absorption in the boot quit cheaply.
