  1. Here you go Gabrielem, Above is the Koni's fitted, no noticeable change in ride height, but big difference in ride quality. Standard Sportline springs still in use:

Personally I would be pushing for 3 complimentary services or similar in compensation and use the money saved from that to maybe source a 2nd hand one when they come onto the breakers market
  3. The update New mods awaiting for the Fabia, Gearbox with wavetrac lsd fitted, Scale fully adjustable coilovers, single mass flywheel, eibach front arb. Just need a good clean up and I’m going to paint the box
  4. Hi, My car is now going to be repaired, Skoda UK are coming up with 75%, so new carpets, roof liner, new sunroof etc is now less than £700.00 inc VAT. The dealer has been so helpful and so good, I can't praise them enough.
  5. Making heavy weather of this guys........just pull the cover off with your fingers from the top and adjust as required......
  6. Got THREE now...lol (Hermes lost 1, seller sent another, both arrived)
  7. I had my Octavia 1.9 PD since March 2009 but it has done 396514. First engine had lasted about 168000 a crankshaft bearing shell had broken up so the engine was scrapped. I had a recondition engine fitted and it still going strong with the mileage of 228514. I know it's not oldest Octavia can anybody beat the mileage?
  8. Been quite some time since I did a detailed update on my wife's Moon White Karoq which we bought on 26th January 2018. The original Braga 18" alloys and Michelin Primacy 3 tyres (215/50R18 front wheel drive size) are sitting in our garage after 27,000 miles on the car. It is currently fitted with the 19" Superb Vega alloys which are 1" wider at 8" and have Bridgestone S001 Performance tyres in 235/40R19 dimension. These have increased fuel consumption by around 10% but I have been impressed by the increased grip in corners and very little extra tyre roar and still excellent ride comfort. Starting the year after 23 months ownership the car had done 22,500 miles and 11 months later it has now covered 28,336 miles. The main reason for the reduction is that my wife like so many now works from home so only uses it for home visits and when helping her service users with shopping. She is a Social Worker dealing with Adults With Learning Difficulties. The good news for us is that the Council pay a generous mileage expenses when she uses the car for work so she usually gets more for her mileage than the monthly fill up requires. This year I have put 572.80 litres of regular unleaded at a total cost of £623.97 and the car has covered 5,795 miles (126 gallons exactly) which works out at an average of 45.99mpg which is not too far from the indicated 46.4mpg Long Term figure in the maxidot onboard computer. We have had no problems this year following 2 issues last year which were resolved around the car's only service so far at 18,700 miles in October 2019. They were just to recap the long awaited software update which has improved the cold engine skippy nature of the car from new which seems to be low torque related and possibly connected to the alternator. It has not completely gone but is much more driveable than before. Another issue which many early KESSY equipped Karoq's suffer from was the failure of both key fobs in quick succession after 21 months which was diagnosed eventually to a batch of faulty key fobs which were both replaced under warranty thankfully. The second service (variable service plan) is not due until October 2021 when the brake fluid will be changed for the first time. The first MOT is due in just 2 months time and the original wipers (all 3 of them) are still in excellent condition and they will also be replaced at the second service which should be at around 35,000 miles. The gearbox has been getting better with age and is now very slick even comparing to the 6 speed manual on my previous Octavia Vrs245. Compared to my current 150PS diesel 2020 Superb DSG the Karoq feels like a sports car owing to it's relatively light 1,360kg kerbweight. The Superb is around 1,500kg and takes about 10 seconds to get to 60mph (but compensates with 66mpg average so far) whereas the Karoq does the sprint in around 8.5 seconds. Overall we are very pleased with the car and it replaced a top of the range Skoda Rapid SE Sport 1.2TSi 6 speed manual which also averaged around 46mpg over 28,500 miles and 3 years between 2015 and 2018. We find the high standard spec of the SEL and the practical 3 rear vario flex seats which can fold up cinema style or can be removed completely so if you need to load long or bulky items (I used the Karoq to collect laminate flooring boards for our kitchen, lounge and master bedroom) it is as practical as the Roomster or Yeti were before it. We paid £23,500 including metallic paint and the RRP is now around £27,500 before discounts. We like this car so much we plan to keep it for 10 years and then sell it when we retire and move to a sunnier climate somewhere.
  9. your greasing might have solved the problem of a sticky caliper. If it comes back, check the piston rubber boot for damage. It might not be obvious, but any water in there could cause corrosion and a very sticky brake.
  10. Looks low as frig for hr springs!
  11. You don’t miss a trick DC, got it in one . Cheers. Just on the H&R springs at the moment.
  12. Motec ultralight? Look smart. What suspension too?
  13. Fitted at the weekend: 8.5Jx19 225/35’s
  14. I did not notice any changes in the dynamics. Not so much a significant increase in circumference to be felt. The unsprung weight (I don't know how it is correct in English) affects this more, and it depends more on disks and rubber. Cast aluminum wheels on cheap winter tires can be 10 kilograms heavier than stamped on premium rubber. Incl. the size is not so critical.
  15. There was a guide on here many years ago fitting golf seats onto Fabia runners. I'll see if I can find it.

^ Yep, but erWin doesn't have parts lists.
  17. Mine was delivered today. Love it, great gearbox.
  18. I had mine done at Camberley Service Centre, they are a registered Skoda service centre, all genuine parts and seem to have made a very good job.
  19. You've not said what engine your car has. We'll need that to provide you with answers to your questions. However: 5 years is fairly normal irrespective of mileage for Vw group cars. New engine if it fails or very big bill. Shop around for prices. My tdi cambelt and water pump at an independent with genuine skoda parts last month cost £430 all in. (Genuine/original are recommended if any warranty left?) Thanks.
  20. Shouldn’t really deviate from approved size (and might have insurance problems if you do) If you want more comfort, need to change the wheel size to 17 or 18 inch and put on deeper tyres. See link (pick your year and engine size for options) It is also worth changing to softer all season tyres, especially if you have sporty or Eco tyres which tend to be firm (and thus give harsher ride) https://www.wheel-size.com/size/skoda/superb/2015/
  21. So Shy's always banging something out in his car! Oooo Matron.
  22. Yes, i'd forgotten about those. I wonder if Audi have been observing BMW sales of cars like 340i vs 335d/340d, which are actually surprisingly closely matched performance wise but where even now the diesel variants seem to be selling better and decided there was less merit in the petrol car? Anyone that set on petrol, they'd presumably try to upsell to an RS4/RS6. (For reference I think in the F30 shape 3 series, the 335d sold something like 15,000 units across various trims, where the 340i sold more like 2,500)
  23. If you are worried about the environment, a modern diesel is less harmfull for the planet than a petrol due to the much lower CO2 and with a DPF, particulates are greatly reduced. Also, the purchase of a new car to replace it has a huge environment impact vs running your existing car. Even purchasing a s/h car has an impact as it feeds the chain further up for new cars and their impact. Even replacing your car with an electric one is just shifting the environmental impat from the user to the mining of the lithium and production of the electricity to power it. If you are worried about cost of the fuel, the money you will spend replacing the 1.6 will buy you plenty of miles in it at the slightly more expensive fuel cost. If you are worried about clean city zones like Bath, Bristol and Birmingham coming in to force, Euro 6 diesels are exempt (a big climb down for Bristol that were originally going to ban all privately owned diesel cars). They have finally realised how clean modern diesels actually are. The best thing you can do (from an environmental pov) is to keep your existing car for as long as possible! All that is assuming that your 1.6 is viable and not on it's last legs or anything!
  24. Yes it is, thanks for responding. Doesn’t appear to be many O4 with Canton to get feedback on the actual new set up. Either way it’s surely better than stock and in that sense should improve the sound. 👍🏼
  25. Typical. Mines due to arrive by midday. Will let ya know how it goes
  26. I’ve always bought all my servicing parts from opieoils, I can’t fault them. Had a **** up last year when I purchased all my stuff, filters, oil, plugs the lot but it came in a rather small box, small enough as in the size of a 1L oil bottle size so I thought hmmm, definitely no 5L in there. Dropped them a quick email and they sent the oil out next day, warehouse error apparently. I can’t fault their service so I keep going back. They aren’t the cheapest but they’re consistent in being reliable and always have them in stock so I keep returning. @GUESTY for the love of god please don’t go somewhere and say “i need some Spark plugs for a vRS” because they will no doubt give you the wrong ones and that’s when it all starts. Go in knowing the exact spark plug you want it’s all down to personal preference, as stated earlier my car has always ran bang on so why change something that works? Thats even with the r8 coils that have been in for the past 2 years. Others prefer NGK over Denso and vice versa.
  27. Like mentioned before you need a memory function for the mirrors and that comes with power seats. I'm currently working on a memory box that should be installed in the passengers door but not ready yet.

To understand why KESSY keys fail with their battery, you have to understand that the key fob itself transmits every couple of seconds to the car. Compared to a normal car with a keyfob that just gets inserted into the ignition (which the car reads the internal chip once to get the approved code for starting the car and disabling the immobiliser). KESSY whilst in the car is still transmitting that it is close by; most batteries will try to hold their voltage as high as possible until all their chemical is utilised, then they will just die). This is why you don't get much / if any - notice that the KESSY keyfob is failing. This is also why you should not put both KESSY keyfobs together; each keyfob will try and out-do the other (from an RF perspective) and completely flatten the battery.
  29. Wow, its been a while since ive logged into Briskoda, the site looks very fresh ! Judging by what appears to be my profile picture, I was still living at my mums and I would have had my stage 1 mk5 GTI, Ninja and my black fab vrs ! Fast forward 5 years and im a homeowner, mrs, 3 kids and a rabbit 😝 Anyway - My neighbour whos l😢Land Rover mad noticed my Superb 2 on the drive and said to me “why have you got that thing for” - i rolled my eyes and replied:- “probably to replace this l322 range rover thats also sat on my drive as it spends more time in the air than it does on the floor as you are aware” He later replied “well anything with a LAND ROVER badge is superb anyway” 🤣 Now I have owned several Range rovers over the years and i couldnt disagree more lol 😱 I then reminded him for the price he has just spent on 6 injectors on his discovery 4 that he’s recently fitted, he could have paid £400 more and got himself what was a top of the line is better built, better equipped, has good german underpinnings ...... and wont be rusting away in the UK as our current land rovers do at the moment 😂 Thought id share that on my return really. Even though I might not have signed in for some time, still briskoda always came through on the searches when i needed to find something out that id forgotten. Since my first fab vrs (amougst others) Ive had an Octavia vrs cr dsg at stage 1, another fab vrs pd at stage 1 and now currently the Superb Hello everyone ar Briskoda once again 👍
  30. There are newer spark plugs on the market these days but my engine has always ran sweet with the Denso SKJ20CR-A8’s so I stick with them every year.
  31. My Dad listens to Ken Bruce but then again he is............79.
  32. You can try... but as I said previously it may not go back to how it was.
  33. I’m afraid it wasn’t a specialist, just a normal local dealer. I think once life opens up a little more some investigation will be in order...
  34. It's your Lambda probe because the engine is stalling when it goes into closed loop once it's hot enough.
  35. There should be a tick box option in the vehicle menu. I presume this is happening when your reversing up to caravan to hitch up, or is it happening when reversing with caravan connected. If so your tow bar hasn’t been coded properly.

I work at an official Audi/VW/Skoda dealership. We currently have one in the Skoda showroom. The front isn't that bad but I don't like the rear end for some reason. I will be ordering the ID.4 when the 4x4 is ready.
  37. As I read it here, it is same sound in future for years, and as I read, they said even with changing pump it happens again. I am interested in how can it be solved with any solution? Anyway engine works perfectly, I am more than satisfied with my car...
  38. Had my mk1 vrs since 1st September 2005 when it was just under 3 years old ‘52 plate.
  39. Proper CH/LH needs a rain light sensor (RLS) plus an auto light switch then the settings can be configured via the maxidot (instrument cluster). There are no car related setting via the infotainment/radio for this generation, only via the maxidot. If I remember correctly, the vRS doesn't get a RLS, auto light switch or maxidot as standard I think you can get 'manual' CH (but not LH) by using this method: https://www.servicetutorials.com/en/2020/01/07/how-to-set-activate-coming-home-without-light-rain-sensor-on-vw-golf-mk6-gti-jetta-in-3-steps/

@Diljit Sorry, i do not think anyone is annoyed. I put in the report just because you already had a thread running with the Sump Plug being the subject. It is far easier to answer a question when the previous answers you got are in the same thread and not spit between 2.
  41. Here are some quick pictures of the new Philips LED H4. I have an old Philips bulb for comparison. The new one is much smaler and it doesnt need an external box. The new one does have a fan on it, and on one of the bulbs its so loud that you notice it if the engine is of. Here are comparison of low beams, Philips LED(right) and and Osram halogen 120%(left) Low beam with led on both sides: High beams, Philips LED on right side and Osram halogen 120% on left side: High beam both sides LED: Even tho i locked camera to same settings it stil makes the differense seem smaler than it is to the eye. Maybe it would have been better if i took the pictures outside instead of in the garage, but its narly weather so meh. I went to the parkinglot of the local supermarket and adjusted the low beams with the tape-on-wall trick and then headed out for a long drive. After one hour of driving with these ledbulbs i did not get flashed bo oncoming trafic. They light up alot more than the halogens i tried so far and im really happy with them.
  42. Nice. I have a similar thing on my EV: (it's only lockdown amusement!)
  43. If you're with a Skoda dealership they won't fit any parts you supply, not even bulbs, because they can't offer warranty on the parts. If you still want to get it done cheaper, i'd suggest either; - buying genuine bushes from Skoda (theyll be like a few quid a piece) - buying third party bushes from euro car parts or online elsewhere (we have an 18mm ARB which needs bushes which have 16mm inner diameter - the bushes are smaller than the bar so they clamp onto the bar tightly) and then either; - fitting yourself, you'll ideally want a set of ramps (you want to secure the bushes in place while the suspension is loaded, ei wheels on the ground) - taking to an independant garage to fit them, if you're going this route, ask the garage how much theyd charge if they supply the part themselves, because there's a chance they might be able to get it even cheaper
  44. https://www.carscoops.com/2021/01/2022-vw-polo-facelift-makes-spy-debut-with-golf-inspired-styling-and-an-annoyed-driver/ So will there be a GTi version or is there any point?
  45. That's definitely mib2 standard and the most recent map is 1520 as per the link. Covers all of Europe. That's the 2021 release to all of the Vag group. Cartography by TomTom. Fits onto the existing SD cards (16gb) doesn't need the newer Skoda 32gb unless you reformat the card to NTFS or alter the sector size from the default to something larger. Neither should you do if you follow the Vag pdf I linked to above. The cult of making it difficult for yourself by going off pista shouldn't be followed. Acres of that on the German community Skoda board... like fitting the wrong spark plugs or lowering tyre pressure to make the ride less bumpy.... Skoda say that release / the one before is for 32gb cards only, that's been found to be wrong. At some point the all Europe map may not fit on 16gb cards and in that case you use a zoned release if planning to drive across those zones or just buy the Skoda 32gb release from an ebay seller. The card is clipped to read only so doesn't grow once put inside the infotainment unit . All good to June 2021 when one looks for the next VAG release.
  46. Hi all, First time Skoda driver here. Got myself a late 2019 (facelift) Skoda Superb Combi Sportline, 1.5 TFSI DSG7 in Red Velvet, pretty much full options: 19" Full LED lights, front & back Pano roof Canton audio etc. Not using it much for work right now, but its such a treat driving this car. Looking forward to some fun trips with the car!
  47. L.S. Finally got rid of my previous lease car (Citroen C4 Cactus, don't ask ) and I'm now finally the happy driver of a Skoda Octavia Combi 1.6 TDi DSG-7 5E (2017). Although I've always driven cars with manual transmission I like the DSG-7. I love to tinker around with the electronics so you'll probably find me around in the forum parts where that's discussed. Greetings!
  48. Folks, I can't speak for YOUR insurers but the policies we issue (for insurers who include LV=) don't have any such exclusion. I too saw an article on this in the press and it seemed to be an excuse for the 'expert' they cited to get their name in the paper. They didn't add any substance to the headline beyond a recommendation that you check with your insurer. There were no examples of anyone being refused cover or claim payout and the main thrust of the article was about what was essential travel and how much the fines were. The only useful thing they said was that if you cancel your cover for lockdown, make sure the car isn't parked on the road as you could be prosecuted for that. If I hear anything different in the coming days I'll post it here. best, Nick
