If it's any consolation I did exactly the same recently. I also struggled with the childproof packaging Gaz

Hi, I've had a look and it's flashing red now. Believe it or not there was a peel off protector on the back of the battery that we didn't notice 🤪 I'm away to try again
  3. At last, an update! The car has been back to the dealers and I am pleased to say that they found faults on both the headlights and the auto hold, the latter with a fault logged in the car's memory. The dealers have been great and very professional. They have replaced the ONS headlight unit completely (manufacturing fault) and have corrected the logged fault on the auto hold. This seems much as it should be now but I will have to wait for a nighttime drive to check on the lights. This may be some way off whilst lockdown persists - I collected the car in the third week in September and have only covered 720 miles so far! Anyway, thanks for the comments and advice.

Then either you have a duff battery or the battery hasn't been properly inserted. Where did you get the battery from? The key fobs are incredibly sensitive to whether the battery is fresh and from a well known manufacturer - Duracell et all. I would get a fresh battery made by a good manufacturer with a good long expiry date and try again - no I'm not kidding!

  7. That's a new one. Electric Waterpump. Errr - no - its belt driven - ie mechanically driven. Would avoid places that try to B/S you like that - if they are trying to extract more money from you at the outset, what's their service going to be like?
  8. That's my logic. I can update my maps via Skoda FOC and if there ever becomes a point in the future that I can't, the likelihood will be that my infotainment system will be too old to support Appledroid 37.3 or whatver we are using!!
  9. What I understand from the workshop manual, liftback does not have drainage hoses in the front, just back. Combi has both and the front hose can be seen after removing the A pillar cover.
  10. Popular car over there and in the continent. Over here in Scotland the roads are full of audi's So the VRS is quite niche and i only ever see a few of the last gen. I like it like that and dont usually follow the lack of imagination. No Audi's on your list i see
  11. If I remember correctly: - the cap on the top squeezes off, might need a light pry with a screwdriver - the purple locking bar will slide in one direction - you can then use terminal removers to push the terminal through Example with the top removed and a Purple locking bar, I think it's in the locked position, should slight right(??) to unlock: Pictures from https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=90500.60 You can see the barbs on the terminals below, this is what the terminal removal tool needs to depress: Hope that helps
  12. Belt driven waterpump. I had my cambelt and waterpump changed by a local independent garage for £350. Make sure they use Gates which is the same as the original belt.
  13. I’d suggest a better use of time would be just leaning how to do these changes yourself. None of the ones you’ve listed are particularly difficult to achieve. Ditch the one touch apps.

If the heat pad has failed you might be able to swap it with the working pad from the passenger side, before someone froths and sperges that it's a different part number, I reckon it'll be an easy mod to get it working despite any difference.

mmm heated seats..................still debating this one................ Cruise, fitted to mine, did not really "need" it, just wanted to do it.
  20. Hmmhhh - pioneer - that worries me Anyway probably heading home tomorrow so 65 mile journey down the M4. Might pop into the Skoda garage in Swindon on my way past if error still showing - hopefully not.
  21. Job done this afternoon, simple job to do top bearing tight and sprayed with WD40 and left to soak in. Turned it by hand for a few minutes then plugged it in and ran it in hand for a few minutes and now running lovely and free. Refitted along with a new cabin filter and it’s brilliant again. Thanks for the help it’s very much appreciated..🙌🏼🙌🏼

    Hello Gaveeno Gaz
  23. On my early 2017 2.0L diesel when you do the hold and reset method you keep holding the reset button in and it then changes from " service " to " inspection " giving the option to reset it.

No worries, glad it's working again
  25. Yeah it is expensive and tbh it probably isn't £180 good. My Ruark was £500 (down from £800 as a Grade A used) but it utterly blows my socks off and feels worth every penny.. The Roberts is good. it does everything you need but the sound is good, not amazing. It is easy to use but there is a knack to it. We like the internet radio stations, we regularly listen to some stuff we'd never have even heard of before (Radio Nula (funk and soul), Boot Boy Radio (Ska) and quite a few foreign stations too. you can search by genre as well as name. It also lets you play BBC Podcasts directly as well which is good. It does have a good reception for a low signal area (it's really bad here). If you've spotify you can use that with it (we do but we don't if that makes sense) and the bluetooth works well and I often play my phone through it. It's pretty repliable as well for a 'smartish' thingy. It has crashed but only a handful of times in a year and that's probably down to our poor connectivity as well. So I'd suggested the functionality might get you £180 of value from it if it does everything you want but you'd get a better sounding speaker for £180. But as said we're quite anti smart speaker in our house.
  26. I use Proton Mail as a spare. Sometimes you need additional accounts and it's nearly impossible to use GMail etc without associating with a phone number these days. A very security aware friend uses MrMail to provide him with a secure mail service. One thing to remember is that is you want something that is genuinely not tracking you then you will need to pay for it. If you don't pay then the service must be paid for either by mining your data and/or advertising to you. A pretty decent rule of thumb is - If the service is free you are the product. although increasingly you can pay for stuff and they will mine you for profit anyway - https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?id=1583755244&subaction=showfull

  28. I’ve had no issues with this, especially cause I can put it in sport mode which works wonders too. Also looking at http://revotechnik.com for of better gearing and mpg interests.
  29. WoW — thanks for this reply! I went with Goodyear Vector G3 (SUV) XL 100V tyres today. All those letters in the name are relevant, so I emailed Goodyear to clarify why the ‘SUV’ distinction... and a super helpful mechanic CALLED me back! Great chap SUV model => As the yeti is tall, it’s all about keeping the leaning the car upright. Goodyear makes XL tyres without the SUV model, and he said either are fine, but with a taller car, I know my Yeti leans on corners do I got the SUV Tyre model (a bit more expensive). Went from 225/50R17, to a taller but narrower 215/60R17 as the 50R is a harsh ride, while the 60R is said to smooth out the ride: 2 noticeable benefits: — it is in fact riding noticeably smoother over small bumps. i was surprised to be able to notice that!? — the speedometer is NOW accurate! knew it was 5mph off so going to a taller Tyre by 5% corrects this OEM error. It’s now reading 99% correct, not 95% correct. 225/50R17 Shows 70mph but going 66 215/60R17 Shows 70mph going 69.5
  30. Great stuff. Much appreciate your specific reply 👌🏻 I’ll get the mechanic perform this, when I remap my Yeti with http://revotechnik.com
  31. no this is not right, if anything you should be getting better mileage if done correctly. obviously this is if you're not mashing the go pedal more than previous. as an example my journey to work was roughly 48mpg pre map, now it's running 230bhp and regularly hits 50-53 I've also done a tank to tank comparison and confirmed it's better on fuel.
  32. You can download the updated maps from updateportal.skoda-auto.com - or you can download them from this forum [have a look in the ICE/Entertainment systems part of the forum for the links]. Both MIB1 and MIB2/2.5 maps are fully supported.
  33. Sounds like you are on Fixed Servicing schedule....that canny be reset unless you do it with a VCDS or ODBEleven....or preferably the dealer! You are allowed 1000 miles over, but you will just have to put up with shouty car "SERVICE NOW!" in your Maxidot display until servicing day.
  34. I found Czech forum with 1.9 modified to TD. OP mentions that gearbox lasted fir 70k km, before he sold the car. But performance clutch lining was needed. https://dieselpower.cz/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10974

Fitting seats in a Van is not as simple a matter as fitting seats and belts and has costs greater than the seats and seat belts, the van is registered as a van, well light commercial / 2 seater. Fitting seats requires the Insurance Provider being aware of the modification and agreeing to providing insurance. Easiest is to buy a 'Caddy Life' or a 'Caddy Maxi Life 'and remove the seats if you want to use as a Van. Plenty available. Even ones that were converted as a Wheel Chair Carrying vehicle with a ramp are not that expensive now. Many will be over 5 years old and have been vehicles leased through Motability' so for 5 years rather than for 3. As to a Yeti as a van, that is not uncommon. The Van version was available in Ireland, and a DIY is simple. If the seats are not in at a UK MOT then the belts are not part of the MOT. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/447834-yeti-used-as-a-van http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/239532-yeti-van-brother http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/422585-yeti-van http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/486314-yeti-commercial http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/385688-possible-new-works-van If looking at a 1.6TDI CR best check out the Emissions Fix. The Caddy's were among the first done by VW in the UK because many were Lease or Fleet vehicles, there were plenty drivers or owners buying used ones reporting adverse affects on the vehicle with the emission fix at the time. Pictures are from the Yeti Commercial thread in the links above.
  36. To his ears, rattle has gone completely now 😂
  37. Hi, hope you are all keeping well. I’m really impressed with the Fabia. Despite being much smaller than the Octavia it has the feel of a much bigger car. like JandB I only have a few hundred miles on the clock, but very pleased with how lively it is. I do miss the torque of the diesel but I’m sure it’s just a matter of getting used to it. The boot space is excellent, only 60L down on the Scout. Once loaded the car seems to ride and handle really well. I can thoroughly recommend the car. We test drive the 95ps version, which seemed a bit underpowered - if you want a 110 they are only available from stock. Mark
  38. You need to tell us more about the reason you felt the need to change the distributor and also what other related parts you removed or checked in the process. For now all I can say is that the only thing (partly) related to your issue is that the RPM input signal is coming from a wire on one terminal of the ignition coil. One other thing. The title of your topic is misleading. It is not the RPM of the engine that fluctuates but only the indication of RPM on the tachometer.
  39. How does the Yeti cope with pulling the 5% higher gearing? Especially pulling away from a standstill up a steep hill and driving in top gear?

  41. I just did mine this morning with the Carista app. I bought their Bluetooth OBD dongle for £25. The app is a paid subscription but you get a month free when you buy the dongle. It lets you change all sorts of stuff as well as diagnostics. You can check your DPF level & manually start an active regen cycle too, well impressed. To get the big MPH you have to set the car’s region to Australia (guess it was never an option on European cars?). Then through your MFD go to settings & you tick to enable alternate speed display and you can select digital speed in the MFD settings menu. You don’t have to faff around with codes etc, just a simple interface to turn options on or off. I also activated the electronic diff lock & bumped up the hydraulic brake assist as well as making the driver’s seat slide back when you open the door so it’s easier to get in & out (I always hit my knees on the wheel).
  42. The MK1 Superb is a great looking car. Sadly, they are getting to be a rare sight on UK roads.
  43. engine: 1.8T VRS Type: Mk1 Octavia VRS Estate Mileage:250000 Cambelt changed 3 times Manual 5 speed Gearbox oil changed X times 0 Any other major work done? Sump got cracked so replaced it and oil pump at the same time @ 180k. Other than that all still original clutch, turbo and after some surgery, the exhaust.
  44. hello all. i joined here as i read this post about techniclutch and wanted to reply and also give my story and a few pointers. this company are obviously crooks, the buy in refanufactured clutches from abroad, these are worn out clutches and plates where they skim the heads of the plates, put bew springs in the disks, they give the plate a clean up and then sell it to you. you then either realise its rubbish before fitting if your lucky or you pay someone to fit an item that fails far quicker than it should if you are no so lucky and then need to pay to have it done all again. They depend on wearing you down with lies and nonsense and it works, most just give up vow to never buy from them again then forget about it. but for the good of everyone you must follow through and get your money back and you will but you wont get it from them. you will get it the legal route. heres my story first record on your phone every conversation you have with them. this is evidence, this is allowed if you need to take it as far as the small claims court you can use extracts from this to prove your case. dates etc while talking to them. second if you can never accept the package from them and return to sender, i did this i purchased then read all the reviews and cancelled the following day. they claimed some spurrious nonsense that they would need to get in touch with the warehouse or some such thing. i phoned 2 days later confirming my cancellation but the said it had allready been posted. but it had not been posted, because 4 days later i recieved parcelforce tracking for the item. so they had 6 days to not send the item so ask yourself why they would still send the item ? i wil tell you why, because once you had recieved it they would claim that you changed it, you tampered with it, that it wasinst same item you sent back. i twigged this was what they were up to hence sending item 6 days after i cancelled. so if you cancel it and they send it, do not accept it at the door and the postal company will return to sender, that puts a stop to that part of the scam. then the fub begins, you phone up, you have proof you didint recieve or returned to sender or looked in the box say it was junk and sent back. so after about 8 phome calls or so you will start to realise that they have no intention of paying you back and will start to make up nnsense to not pay you. this is why you must absolutely record every call you have with them. your options now are. section 70 - if you paid by credit card you can make a section 70 claim with your credit card company, include the fact you have recorded phone calls, the tracking number of them sending it and you sending back etc. paypall chargeback - if you bought via there ebay store do a charge back as quick as you can. dont sit arguing and phoning them go straight for the charge back. the sooner the better. make sure you have proof of posting back as ebay will ask for this. letter before action - next if you didint pay by credit card or you are paypal time lapsed etc or you paid debit card. you will now need to send a letter before action. moneysaving supermarket etc have details of doing this also citizen advice. you might have to revert to here even if you paid by credit card because techniclutch have set themselves up to circumvent the credit card chargeback, there is a clause which is actually going through parliment to stop that a credit card can claim the transaction is not between them and the retailer because they use a third party processor ie like sage pay and the credit company will sometimes but not allways refuse the chargeback because of this. take a guess who techniclutch use for processing their cards even though they charge a lot more than a standard company like rbs or sum up or lloyds etc. yup they use sage pay as they attempt to prevent charge backs. So set out a letter before action, send it proof of delivery not signed for, likely they will just not sign for it as they probably get loads and know the drill. so go to the post office and send it proof of delivery not signed for. also send a copy to their email. and keep a copy for yourself. if this still dont get them to give you your money back next its a small claims dont online, its simple its cheap its effective. they will have 0 days to pay you or you apply t take them to small claims court. its better if the item + costs allowed are over £600 in total because if they dont pay you can hire a high court balliff to collect. if under and they refuse to pay you need to get a ccj against them they then have time to pay you before its marked against them. So hope that helps some of you that are robbed by this company. remember to report them to companies house, remember to report them to ebay, post about them on trustpilot and come to forums like this.and blackpool police eventually some authority is going to take notice and close this company down. a wee msg to any rogue trader tv programs wont do any harm either. they have made an enemy with me, make sure they make one with you as well. i got my money back after 10 weeks with a credit card chargeback. i refused the item and had it returned to sender. they tried to claim on the phone that me returning to sender ie not accepting the parcel and it being returned untouched and not in my ownership at any point. was a breach of contract, have you ever heard of such lying nonsense. it was at this point i realised i needed to stop trying with them and go the route that didint involve asking them for it back. remember record all phone conversations with them. byt what is really needed is for many of the victims of their scams to get together and report them as a group. i hardly think blackpool fraud squad could ignore 50 independent phone calls to them in a week about this company. or the same to companies house or rogue traders etc. best wishes all. im looking at buying a skoda
  45. It depends what the aspect ratio is. For 215/50 to 215/65 tyres, ETRTO recommends a rim width between 6" and 7.5". However, for a 215/55 tyre the suggested starting point is a 7" rim width as you can see from this link. 215/55R17 Approved Rim Width Range (inch) 6.0-7.0-7.5 https://www.toyo.co.uk/tirefinder/index/width/215/aspect/55/rim/17 And for a 215/60 tyre the suggested starting point is a 6.5" rim width as you can see from these two links. 215/60R16 Approved Rim Width Range (inch) 6.0-6.5-7.5 https://www.toyo.co.uk/tirefinder/index/width/215/aspect/60/rim/16 215/60R17 Approved Rim Width Range (inch) 6.0-6.5-7.5 https://www.toyo.co.uk/tirefinder/index/width/215/aspect/60/rim/17 Notice that car manufacturers don't always go along with the suggested starting point. The Skoda Karoq uses a 6J rim for it's 215/60R16 tyre size, whereas the Skoda Yeti uses a 7J rim for it's 215/60R16 tyre size. Also notice, that when selecting a rim width, there's no need to consider the rim diameter. For example, 215/60R16 and 215/60R17 have the same range of rim widths. Although these links are to Toyo's website, Toyo don't make these rules/guidelines for approved rim widths. Toyo is simply following ETRTO which is the European tyre industry body. Even big name brands such Michelin, Continental, Bridgestone follow ETRTO's guidelines. I can't post a link to ETRTO's guidelines directly, because ETRTO doesn't make their information freely available. You have to pay to get information from ETRTO. Fortunately, Toyo does make ETRTO's guidelines freely available indirectly through their website but only relating to tyre sizes that they make. Here's some more examples, this time relating to 185/55R15 and 185/6R15 tyre sizes. 185/55R15 Approved Rim Width Range (inch) 5.0-6.0-6.5 https://www.toyo.co.uk/tirefinder/index/width/185/aspect/55/rim/15 On the Citigo, Skoda uses 5.5J rims for it's 185/55R15 tyre size, not the suggested 6J rim width. 185/60R15 Approved Rim Width Range (inch) 5.0-5.5-6.5 https://www.toyo.co.uk/tirefinder/index/width/185/aspect/60/rim/15 On the Fabia, Skoda uses 6J rims for it's 185/60R15 tyre size, not the suggested 5.5J rim width. So it sounds like with the 185/55R15 tyre, Skoda were trying to get the comfort of a 185/60R15 tyre by using a narrower rim...and with the 185/60R15 tyre Skoda were trying to get the handling of a 185/55R15 tyre by using a wider rim.
  46. With VCDS dear James, dear James, dear James. With VCDS , dear James, dear James, with VCDS. (It is still panto season isn't it...? ) More seriously, this procedure is thus.... In VCDS Select Control Module, go to (03) ABS Brakes, then (10) Adaptation, go to Channel: Channel 09 Brake Assist (This will then activates Channel 36) There are 3 settings: 0-center (stock setting) 1-small 2-hard Channel 36 XDS There are 3 settings: 0-center (stock setting) 1-weak 2-strong HTH
  47. Don't stop there John... More to come please!!!
  48. The reason that you may be less than impressed with the ride of 205/60R16 tyres fitted to 7Jx16 ET45 rims, is because a 7J is wide for a 205/60 tyre as it stretches the sidewalls which causes the tyre to flex less easily and therefore transmit more of the road bumps to the occupants. 7J is wide even for a 225/60R16 tyre. However, for comfort it's better to fit a 225/60 than a 205/60 to a 7J rim. Notice that the Yeti MK2 (aka Karoq) has replaced the 7Jx16 ET45 rim with a much narrower 6Jx16 ET43 rim, even though it uses the same 215/60R16 (or 225/16R16 in the case of the Karoq 4x4) tyre size. 49. Rieger V2 front splitter fitted, nice and easy installation. I think it sets the front of the Octavia off nicely, a little bit more aggressive look but not too much in your face. Next up Maxton side skirts.
