my reply back i received so thanks to the guys for initially getting on this Many thanks. That's the fourth list of serious complaints received over 2 days. I have now taken up the issue with Skoda UK, asking that the company buys these fault cards back. Rgds, best wishes and stay safe,
  2. Hi, I just created a account. I have Skoda Yeti MY 2012 2.0TDI 170HP 4x4 and Superb MY 2016 2.0TDI - 150HP. I would like to exchange experiences with VCDS and VCP, and of course I invite you for a beer in Wrocław

Make that 4.....I've sent an email as well now. I've also contacted a friend at Which who will take it to the relevant people next week.....
  4. It is a Skoda so park next to am Audi and they will take it, or a MK1 Fabia vRS even.

Either pay an uprated clutch now (an extra 300 quid) or pay for another one in another 20k....I think I know which way I would go.
  6. I had the same on one of mine, I thought it was a cracked unit but it’s just muck. Really easy job to remove - unclip the side piece (piece circled in red on the picture) of the centre grill by pulling firmly (2 hand grip to spread load, reducing chance of breaking anything.) Then it’s a torx screw that secures the fog light unit, release the fog light which just pulls out. Then clean up, refit in reverse.
  7. Hey all In an attempt to make this section a bit more lively again, I thought I'd start off a cleaning and detailing thread. Feel free to add pics of your shiny motors, describe your process, outline future work you intend to do, recommend products, etc. I'll kick off! I have owned this beast for 2 weeks now and gave it a deep clean to assess the paintwork. Process (& products); Jet wash to loosen dirt up Snow foam (AD purple velvet) 2 bucket method wash (Sonax gloss - first time using this and I was super impressed @ £6 a litre) Alloy clean (Gtechniq W6 Iron & General Fallout Remover then a general wash with the remaining Sonax shampoo) Clay bar (Bilthamber medium with Dodo Juice born slippy lube). I've never seen as much embedded tar/crap in a car's paintwork before! 2 bucket method wash - again! (Sonax gloss) Dry (my trusty 10 year old woolly mammoth towel. Still going strong) Polish glass (AutoGlym) Protective glass coat (RainX) Tyre dressing (Some cheap CarPlan rubbish. I'll look at getting a decent one soon). I decided not to wax it as there's a bunch of paint defects I want to polish out first. I'm about to order by first DA machine (das6 pro) to give it a go. Next time out; Touch in stone chips Polish out numerous swirls and fine scratches Sort out the dull D-pillar plastics Tidy up the interior, which TBF is in good shape already. Right, that'll do for the first post. My neighbours now think I'm quite peculiar and, having written it out, I can't disagree! I look forward to seeing your cleaned/detailed motors! Danny
  8. Evening All Just signed up to the forum. On my second Skoda and thought it would be a good idea to join in. From Steeton in W Yorks and have other car interests, but like fool I bought an Octavia Estate Scout last week. Ex Ambulance and has been a nightmare since purchase. Will be asking stupid questions soon. Mark
  9. It's not really a problem anymore, but thought of sharing as it may help someone. A few months ago I bought an 2000 Octavia MK1, AVU motor. From the first day the gearbox always felt a little hard to play with in all gears, when compared to my other Octavia. After replacing the gearbox oil (with G060726A2) it got a lot better, but not as good as I hoped it would be. About a week ago I started having difficulty in engaging the first gear. I had to engage 2nd gear or reverse before going into first gear, which was really annoying. Last weekend I decided to replace the dogbone, something that I had already planned to do. After all, time takes its toll on components, and it was not that expensive at around 14€. Much to my surprise, after going for a drive the gearbox seemed completely different, as smooth as it may have been on day one. My guess is that the new dogbone slightly changed the position of the motor, due to the bushes being stiffer, and the gearshift linkage now has the correct play. The old dogbone's bushes don't seem that bad, they actually looked pretty "normal" to me.
  10. Earth problems seem more likely, join positive and negative battery terminals together then measure total resistance across the starter.
  11. Overall yes I am happy with mine. I have two issues: 1) High Beam Assist. There seems to be no agreement as to whether or not this can be added to my SE L First Edition. It would be nice but it is not really a problem to switch the stalk when necessary. I had it on my Superb and there were times when I had to override it anyway. 2) Km on the Sat Nav. This is a known issue which Skoda are working on - allegedly! More often than not I would use Google Maps anyway. Car is lovely to drive and economical. Unfortunately due to the pandemic I have not done the miles I would usually do but before the second lockdown (?) end of October we did a long return trip from Essex to Yorkshire without any issues.

Download the manual here https://manual.skoda-auto.com/210/en-gb/Detail?model=Superb_3V&edition=11-2020&market=&manualLang=en then go to the bolero section, it tells you all the parameters for music and video

Yes, it does seem that they knowingly misrepresented that particular car. But hey - what's truth and accuracy compared with a few cheap laughs!
  16. Just following up as promised . My MKIII passed its MOT today with not even a single advisory .... very happy but at same time angry with the main dealer and this needs a complaint to Skoda UK . Really hope no one else here is treats by their Skoda main dealer in the same way .
  17. The firm I worked for replaced quite a few castings warped beyond repair on PD's, mostly taxis, and found all the pattern Chinese castings to be excellent, in the case of the Land Rover TD5 head the Chinese pattern castings were hugely superior to the OEM castings which seemed to be made of Aero chocolate sprayed silver.
  18. When weather improves get some hot water in a bowl extend seatbelt fully and immerse fully let soak, take out use some all purpose cleaner of your choice (or good old fashioned fairy liquid) rinse fully, and dry completely..... After doing all this, spray pledge on inside of seatbelt and watch how quick it retracts. If it doesn’t then you may have an issue, but worth a try before taking next step
  19. I timed that run at about 12 secs to 200KPH - **** off a shovel!
  20. Planned and organised would be when they have a buyer, which is in the vast majority of cases for high value vehicles or newly launched vehicles in the media spotlight - neither of which categories would IMHO include a Skoda. Don't get me wrong, I love my Octavia but having come from an Audi RS4 (which received a lot of media coverage at launch and some people were even selling them at a profit for several months after launch) the difference in attention from media, public and scrotes is very noticeable.

Sorry guys but mine goes tomorrow. Had enough. Maybe I should have waited but .... This is the cut down version of what is wrong that a I gave to the service manager recently but excludes anything to do with bad design ... Heard nothing - MATRIX headlamp assist - not working correctly. Blinds oncoming traffic Rear traffic assist - volume very low Park assist alerts - very slow to activate ‘Please drive in the centre of the road’ - keeps coming on even when I’m driving in the middle of the road. BRAKE warning - comes on when there is nothing in the front of the car. Navigation - still unable to select Miles instead of Km LAURA - turned off because she keeps popping up without being called Bluetooth - the telephone sometimes auto-connects but often doesn’t. Good luck and I'll be keeping an eye out for the progress ...
  22. On my commute I put in the passenger footwell. If out with the family I’ll stick it in the boot. Or you could leave it at home and only use for overnight deterrent. For me, there will always be people who want someone’s nice new car, but if they see mine WITH that lock and another car without, then they choose the other one. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  23. That'd be me then.

I do see this but if the car is in controvention of the Road Vehicles Regulations, should they not be forced to correct the issue. It would seem then that the Motor Ombudsmen would be the best place to seek help then.
  25. I find the biggest factor in road noise is the road surface. I put together an overview of my Superb in the film in the link, if you whizz through to 14.25 there is a short bit where the road noise between two surfaces on the same road at the same speed is very evident. Im not a fan of the P7 tyres that the car came with, but so far they are still on the car as I can’t justify changing them!
  26. i think i did mention Danny - you would find the Meg's a bit dusty; that's consistent feedback i have heard. Koch Chemie H8 or newer H9 are great - with an oily tinge to help them maintain a good working time. I normally follow this up with M3 or similar to finish/antihologram. That said - also a big fan of the Angelwax compounds too. Plenty to choose from; perhaps see if any enthusiasts near you can share some products to test; otherwise it can get expensive.
  27. So why haven't you read the last 2 books? It's a trilogy in 6 parts for the last number of years... Huge Douglas fan... ------ Nice choice on the replacement Groaver - if I had the option I'd have gone for 2 car option, but the 280 covers all bases for me
  28. Fifteen inch wheels with 195/50/15 are the best compromise between handling and comfort but it depends on the size of your front brakes, I have 288's and they completely fill the wheel, no way I could fit fourteens.

Perhaps the UK spec Enyaq heat pump is cheaper as it is only there to help keep the battery at its optimum temperature (to maximise driving range) according to the build configurator - still. Unlike the rest of the world (and the Enyaq's VW cousins) where it actually heats the cabin.... I can give no rational reason why this misinformation annoys me - but it does!
  30. Just change the tyres and rims to a comfortable size and the problem will be solved. From the photo on your other thread, it looks like you have 205/40R17 tyres. Take a look at these Fabia MK2 alloy rims on "eshop skoda cz" https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/hlinikove-disky/c/alloyWheels?q=%3AscoreDesc%3AcarType%3AFabia%2BII%2B%282010-2014%29 6Jx14 ET37 Alloy Rim (2659CZK is about £87) https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/kolo-z-lehke-slitiny-shell-14-pro-roomster-fabia-ii/p/5J0071494C+7ZS

All above board, just very sneaky. 🥸
  32. EPC would get on for things like throttle body issues or a bad brake switch. If you talk about EML, then you should know that my former 2000 Skoda Fabia 1.4 MPI, 50kw, atz engine had it working, in the cluster tests from vcds was perfectly fine, it was getting illuminated, as well as when disconnecting the battery terminals and switching on the ignition for the first time. I had my cat removed, both o2 probes, a lot of errors stored in the ECU, it never got on in my dashboard.

It’s a shame they can’t software update the appalling unusable sat nav someone signed off as fit for purpose. I wonder if they decided not to use map info from one of the usual providers and come up with their own, and now cannot afford to fix it, leaving the customer a defective vehicle. Similar thing happened in the seventies to British leyland, come up with design, put it into production before it was ready and let the customers develop it, look what happened to them, perhaps VAG will follow. what I cannot understand is the lack of comment from the motoring press, do they not test these cars or are they scared to say anything because they fear being cut off by the manufacturer.
  34. outside noises can be hugely decreased by add sound deadening materials, but how to solve noises generated by car it self's listen to 10th and 28th seconds in this video 43MB no one can recognize reason :( thank God, this pulsary sound 36MB has been never repeated

Keep the EV you go for below £50,000 to get the £3,000 grant.
  36. Just out of curiousity @nutters_uclan is it just one stage correction? How many pads are you using? My first go resulted in hologramming (Menzerna Heavy cut 400) but another pass with the Super Finish 3500 took them out...not had another go yet, only 2-3weeks ago and not had the right weather since. Looks to have made a massive difference and must feel rewarding when you see the before and after - them two pics above especially the bootlid! Well done! Edit: Just seen Megs 205 is Ultra Finishing Polish so i guess just one stage?
  37. On the subject of embargo lifting, here is an early sneak look at an acceleration run. The car defaults to launching in 2nd! Quite impressive for a porker. The weight figures they are quoting seem to be aimed more at the lower power 'Pure' version rather than the full fat Comp version. I've seen figures usually over 1,800kg for that one. Also, one good thing for the haters is, that at least as it seems quick, you will see more of it's tail lights and thus spare you looking at the front
  38. I have the same car, in estate version. Love it. can’t say I’ve noticed loud road noise just turn the radio up
  39. Erm, I think you've misread or mistyped your VIN. At a guess, the second 2 is actually a Z...

Its time @ColinD made an executive decision and shutdown the Roadside Hotel and other forums where the handful of offensive and irritating threads exists where certain individuals can be obnoxious, and often adopt the broken record style. 1. I do not spend my time on the internet permanently logged on, I do not want to be tracked, and I regularly clear cookies etc, many times a day for security reasons as I access important and sensitive information often. I prefer to check occasionally for new content simply by checking "All activity". So ignore function does not work for me and on days I see many inflammatory posts as I scan the site. You simply can't ignore them. 2. The resident moderators are too sympathetic to certain members, there seems to be a policy of Freedom members can say what they want. IIRC one freedom member even boasts about "unseen" behind the scenes helping of the site but does not say how. Not sure, but from a brief foray into the roadside hotel, it seems that certain members have now gained the right to edit other peoples posts, becoming super biased moderators. Obvious what the consequences would be. 3. As for technical forums (my interest) there are other long resident characters who can sometimes get offensive and aggressive when they disagree with what is posted. I have tried to avoid them, but it still angers me when they try to belittle other peoples opinions, some even spend what must be considerable effort to dig up and quote ancients posts and like to accuse members of lying or talking BS. They, however, on the other hand are never wrong, and as a result people are too afraid to challenge their posts. 4. The system of reactions fosters a strange obsession in some, and like facebook is abused by some individuals to upset people. Sorry for the lengthy rant.
  41. Golf axle is different and will not fit. Handbrake cables are different and will not fit. Rear discs are not better than drums on slow cars, just fix the drums, parts are cheaper than the mess you'll make trying to do the swap.
  42. Yes perfect. Fresh MOT next month no problem. Mechanics are easy to understand, they just want free money.
  43. I'm busy researching the cars police history and have been liaising with some officers who remember these from new. They have been invaluable in advising me what equipment it was fitted with. An example of this was a mag light and charger in the passenger footwell. I have found the original mounting point and sourced the correct light and charger.
  44. Carpet shot, heal pad worn out, so will source a better example. Cant believe how heavy the underlay is, it must weight 20kgs
  45. OK - as many will know, i've been on here from the days of my first Skoda Octavia vRS....circa 2008. A big detailing fan and once an OCD detailer..... but family life has been busy of late. Just getting back to it.... We treated ourselves to a new car for Christmas 2020.... so far focused on enjoying the drive, not actually washed since collection! Process (& products) in todays routine… my first wash of this car in my ownership:- Pressure wash to soak & loosen surface dirt; wheel arches flushed Snow foam treatment using Waxplanet Eight Below, 10 minute dwell then rinse Alloy clean with dedicated wheel bucke, EZ brushes and CYR wheel wash pad Chems used on wheels are Garage Therapy (GT) Wheel Shampoo, then GT Iron Oxide treatment to follow. 2nd Snowfoam layer using GT Decon Shampoo via the snowfoam lance to aid removal of old protection 2 bucket method wash with Simplewax Sudz shampoo and CYR wash pad Rinse & then Dry with Detail Freaks Absorber towel. De-tar with Autobrite Just the Tonic Decon/Fallout with GT Iron Oxide. Re-wash treated panels, rinse and dry. Some localised polishing tests with my Flex DA (Angelwax compounds used); removing some minor defects – but car still needs full polish. Car waxed with EZ Car Care Graphene Wax Protective glass wipedown with GT Quick detailer Alloy Wheel wipedown with Sonax BSD Door shuts wipedown with Sonax BSD Tyre conditioner applied using GT Tyre Serum. Next time out:- Continue polishing duties on more intricate areas – front and back bumpers + sills Interior duties…. Waiting on new interior mats on order from AutoStyle UK. …or maybe I won’t have time – will end up being a quick wash! My neighbours are used to it by now…. approx 4 hours worth spent on this beauty. Sunny Sundays are generally detailing days - really enjoyed it! Cheers, Ste.
  46. You have hit the nail on the head and to my chagrin it seems the majority of new car purchasers are willingly buying into the bull**** judging by the way the content of this forum has drastically changed over the last year or 18 months. It seems that many people are more interested in their social media than driving and would willingly let the car drive for them if it never disturbed them.

You need to remove or pull back the passenger side front wheel arch liner. It has T25 Torx screws.
