It's no problem. They are sorting me with a replacement until they can sort it. I'm told it will be something of Octavia or bigger so it will be nice to drive something else! I don't mind as long as it comes back sorted, and if my car is used as a test to get everyone of the others sorted, then so be it.

I suspect the SE spec has more equipment than your 11 year old Fabia, and SEL will have even more. But you won’t really miss what you have never had. If you keep your car to 11 years old, then another way of looking at it, is that the extra equipment is more to break down, and possibly needing costly repair in few years time. I am guessing the 1 litre is the 115 engine, if it is, I suspect you will find it is much better than you expect. More than sufficient for the type of driving you indicate. If it was me, get the 1 year old car
  3. Stools, chairs, rolling seats... you all remind me I forgot to do the roof!
  4. Decided to keep the YETI and give it a birthday. Alloy refurb, paint detail and protection. 🥳
  5. I've spent the whole evening repairing the broken photobucket links through the whole thread, so ALL of the pics are now visible to all....
  6. Hello everyone Having neglected the Rapid a bit during lockdown (and almost traded it in for a Seat Leon estate a month ago), I’ve instead been showing the car a bit of love, including cleaning it for the first time in ages and investing in a few new bits: Up first is this handy boot divider. Now, this only works if you have the false boot floor. The item in question is actually a genuine VW part for a Golf Estate (with false boot floor), but also fits the Rapid (as long as you have the false boot floor). It will not clip on to the regular boot floor (the one directly above the spare wheel), it’s too thin. Next up, I replaced the silver trim piece I had on the boot lid. This is an aftermarket part that has been cut specifically for the Rapid Spaceback boot lid: My previous one, after five years, lost its adhesion and was starting to look dull, so time for a fresh one. Finally, I fitted a new set of Heko wind deflectors (again, replacing a set that had started to break after five+ years of use and abuse). Next job is to remove the number plates (which are stuck on with many sticky pads) and replace them with a set of pressed metal plates. Also looking at adding a rear-facing dash cam, but need to do more research to find a suitable power cable to tap into. If anyone has any advice on that, I would appreciate it. As always, happy to answer any questions. Thanks Chris

You should be seeing at least 30MPG People issues: If you've done a full service, it might be worth checking your MAF, see when it was last changed, including fuel filter, etc.

As you say, not to everyone's taste.... but surely rear brake lights and indicators are fitted to let other drivers know what you are doing, so why make them more difficult to see???? Or don't you use indicators and brakes???
  9. I gave The Big Red Bus a serious wash and polish today. What a gorgeous day! Now, it takes me about ten minutes to stand up straight from a sitting position.

  13. I used this to fit mine: The bushings don't need to be greased anymore either. If memory serves the diagram of the order of bolts/nuts/washers was slightly wrong on the provided instructions?
  14. Is there a detailed guide to fitting one of these please ???
  15. Noticed that I never posted an update... So, the car went for a service, which seemed to fix the problem......for about 6 weeks. However, nothing got done to rectify this immediately as we then went into lockdown - so the car sat on the drive for most of last year since I was now working from home. Anyway, as my other vehicle needed to go in for MOT and major works just before christmas, the greenline went to the garage to get looked at - so i would (hopefully) still have one working vehicle. The problem turned out to be an intermittently faulty turbo actuator; because it doesn't fail immediately the throttle is opened, it isn't obvious when doing a static test.
  16. I think you have proved something is draining. Wish i could point you to it!

I’m sorry but I think you are missing the point . We are talking about a £30 header tank that if fails causes between £600 and over £1000 of damages) also dealers do no mention it however the moment Ive questioned them And asked ‘ could this be because of the silica bag I’m told yes”. the last dealer told me it takes a long time to flush as they need to follow a service bulletin for the issue. Then I’ve now found out the header tank as had several revisions and the new design doesn’t have silica bag.! 🤔 so if no major issue, why issue a change or service bulletin regarding a fix . personally I’ve worked in the spare parts business for over 20 years so I understand why companies issue changes . If this issues only effects a small number of cars(maybe before ur design type) then again why not cover repair bill . lastly I’ve not mentioned “every other car will have issues. “ I’ve just tried to inform other Skoda users of the issues I’ve had . Secondly , if it wasn’t for people on forums talking about the issues they have, nothing ever gets sorted .
  18. Found the problem. Oxidation killed CAN gateway power supply cable behind/below battery bracket. Close to firewall. I will leave this here and hope that this could help someone in future
  19. Yes, this is exactly it. Having said that, I don't find mine turning on early enough (snow doesn't mean they'll turn on, for example, and fog also doesn't help. But setting them to turn on with wipers is great as it means I don't have to remember. The wife's car turns its lights on super-early, the Octavia is set to Late, I think, and I find that OK.

Yessss !!!, When I first got my Vrs in 2006, driving in "grandad mode (56mph for 25 miles) i saw 41mpg come up, was it accurate???. Now i average 32-35mpg. NB: Deans comment about the MAF is right, you can buy MAF spray cleaner I did mine couple of years ago ( still on the original one), always get good emission readings at MOT time. These engines love premium petrol I have always used Shell V power, it does help with fuel economy in the long run.
  21. Evening mate, I was the same but bit the bullet and installed with self tappers, but also used a high strength contact adhesive to bond to the sill but also around the screws so that it sealed up the hole. My one big piece of advice if you have access to a lifter definitely use, it makes life easier. I fitted with car half up a curb and jack fully extended to get right under the car. And just take your time if you do it 👍
  22. When a customer contacts a dealer and makes a booking a Diss report should be created detailing the complaint. Once this is created a BA ID number is assigned . This report can then be completed if the complaint is rectified and is recorded as a quality report. The dealership can also submit a technical support request using the generated BA ID and tech support can escalate the same report to the factory. The Diss report also has other uses as well. It is a requirement for any warranty claims as when a diagnostic session is ended and sent online it is allocated to the BA ID

Yes its extremely clean for its age. I plan to get the front and rear bumpers painted to get it looking really nice. Here are some more photos.
  24. I've done drivers and rear passenger doors recently. As can be seen in the pics I've not blocked the holes and left the tigerseal to dry over 24 hours and added a line of waterproof tape....and somehow still getting a puddle on the door seal. I can only assume I need new door seals as there is no way water will be getting past the sheeting etc. It was whilst jetwashing the car and loaded the window edge with the hose. I shall be ordering new seals and hope that helps the leaks.
  25. The video shows **** all for me aside from the timer countdown, the window looks like one for an audio clip but it is silent. Editted. Video by Undertheradar, hovering mouse over it it reveals to be an audio clip, maybe if I could turn the volume up enough it would sound like a brilliant shiny finish

Sportline wasn't available when I bought mine in 2018 Amazingly they still work.. and they are within legal standards.. and amazingly too I do use indicators and even brakes...
  27. I had Gtechniq Crystal Serum with EXO professionally applied to my new car before I collected it from the dealer. It's black, easy to keep clean and looks stunning even now...20 months later.

Please do not hold in what you think,,,,,,,,,,,do my ass looks big to you?
  29. In which case, the first problem is getting the CAN-gateway to communicate in the car. As you've seen it doesn't take much to talk to the CAN-gateway so I'd try: - checking the twisted pair between the CAN-gateway and OBD port - checking the grounds at both - checking the power is on all the necessary pins At a guess, it'll be a permanent or switched live that's not getting power so the CAN-gateway or HEX-CAN aren't powering up properly.
  30. Good Luck, nice looking motor
  31. @seancannon - the Skoda servers can be a bit pants at times. Try this direct link from the VW servers: https://navigation-maps.volkswagen.com/vw-maps/DiscoverMedia2_EU-AS_1520_V13.7z
  32. @Yoss : Thank you for the clarification.
  33. I'm sorry I don't deal with it, cannot help you. There is no update for your unit.
  34. Brake fluid done, haldex done, DSG not done. I phoned a different dealer who said that needed doing at 40k miles regardless of age. Given they don't have a vested interest in the sale, I went with what they said. I may get the DSG done once it arrives though. Thanks all for your help.
  35. Thank you for the quick reply ords, although both threads list 13 inch rear wiper blades rather than the 14 inch ones currently fitted.
  36. It's about UX research and best practices combined with tightly integrated customer feedback loop. Looks like this was sub-par on mib3. The bright side is that less physical buttons and more virtual buttons means that there's more scope for these things to be addressed as software updates..
  37. Don't worry Gyp everything went to plan on Saturday.... Turned up at Preston Motorcycles and was initially taken back by how many motorbikes they had in their showroom rows and rows of bikes up to 4 deep in places! A very large variety and a lot of high spec expensive bikes. The staff were very friendly and helpful with my bike all ready including all the paperwork with the fresh service and MOT they had done for me. A couple of bits to sign and happy to let me check the bike over for as long as I wanted and that was it away I went! Just under a 50 mile ride home and considering my last bike was a GSXR 600 the Versys was lovely to ride. Yes it doesn't have a great deal of power but the seating position is great and very comfy and was just a lovely ride home. A good basic no frills bike that you can just ride for hours (again coming from sports bikes after 30 mins I started having back, wrist, leg aches!) I have ridden it to work for the last two days and put another 65 miles on it so around 110 miles so far. It already has heated grips but I think a better touring screen and some handguards are in order if I am going to keep commuting. I already feel at home on the bike and don't find the 68bhp a problem it is still more than enough to complete overtakes with ease and as the saying goes you just use all of the power all of the time. I have joined a Versys 650 group on facebook and whilst I think the bike only needs the couple of additions mentioned above there is always talk of more modifications on the group of booster plugs, rear tail tidy and hugger combo, Crash bars, Navigation bars/Phone mounts....etc so no doubt I will get sucked into all that not that my arm will need much twisting :-) With the weather being so great yesterday and today I have seen a lot of bikers on my commute which is always good to see so I can give the old head nod to them although not all seem to do it. Have you been out on yours Gyp? What about others hopefully people have managed an extended lockdown trip out to get some **cough **cough** bread and milk?! Oh and re the bike still being listed for sale I can only assume with the large amount of stock and how busy they are they must have forgotten to take the listing down maybe.
  38. Just leaving the weekend residence- - - In my dreams!!
  39. Sunshine!! No leggings, double layers or coat 👍 No Coffee either. 😞. Forgot a mask
  40. cheers buddy that looks like it
  41. I'd want to see it "in the flesh" so to speak as it can vary quite a bit from a picture on a computer screen and what it looks like really due to the colour settings on a computer also the lighting settings where/when a picture was taken and the colour gamut used.
  42. Also as a wildcard quickie, worth a check of all 4 tyres for uneven wear, not uncommon for Mk2 Octy's to eat one side of the tyres especially on insides at the back 'saw toothing' etc.
  43. I am sure that a Briskoda member can update the maps for your car (as long as your SD card is not broken) if @langers2kguide is not working for you. To make 100% sure, can the OP - @seancannonplease post a photo of the front screen of his entertainment system to make sure it is a Amunsden system; the process of updating maps for the Amunsden system vs the top end Columbus system are very different.
  44. I've asked a mod to move this to the MK3 section. This seems to come up fairly frequently and although plenty of threads do have instructions, it's not always obvious which apply. Give me an hour or two and I'll throw together a guide for the MIB2/MIB2.5 Amundsen which is what I assume the OP has.
