  1. Well on the day of her 17th birthday my daughter picked up her present. She is VERY happy and so am I. It drives like a dream, very impressed with it, quiet and comfy even it motorway speeds.
  2. I always planned to keep my 2014 mk3 Octavia 1.4 tsi until it was 10 years old. I may actually keep it longer now. I very nearly traded it earlier this year for one of the last mk3 1.5 SE L estates but the stories of 1.5 issues put me off. I certainly wouldn’t get a mk4 based on what I read on briskoda. I may be old fashioned but I don’t want to work everything from a touch screen, I also don’t want or need all of the connectivity garbage that’s on them and seems to be the cause of most trouble.
  3. Managed to catch the sunset this evening........
  4. Thanks Buddy, I’m awaiting the screen coming into the dealers to be fitted. They’re doing it FOC but pretty disappointing that it was missed at all..
  5. Yeah, it was bugging me for a while how basic the car looked, and I'd seen so many projects and such with these incredible looking furbys and I'd decided straight away that I need some kind of rear diffuser and either the sport bumper or a new splitter. Just so happens this monte one was up for cheap! And I hope it isn't as much as a pig as this one was for me! Kind of regret that I won't be able to have a tail pipe but it wouldn't really benefit mine as it moves faster in reverse anyway
  6. Soooo.... http://imgur.com/gallery/fKPaU0b This was an absolute pig to fit Went in with no information on how it would fit, in the end gave up trying to bond it as it just wasn't lining up anywhere and I decided that if it was going to go on then it'd have to be screwed. I'm really pleased with the end result
  7. Well, the time has finally come, took possession of this little beauty 2 days ago, it's a 2016,2.0tdi, dsg, has 66.000km on the clock, I'm the second owner, I'll let the pictures do the talking! Feel free to comment! https://photos.app.goo.gl/GoyosHJBJ3tb5RrZ7
  8. They are legal lights, I have been using Osram Night Breakers in my cars and motorcycles for about 15 years.
  9. Update and solution. Turbo pipe seems to have been initially caused by worn clips and then the replacement hose not being fitted correctly by myself - I refitted it with a bit of force, resulting in it making some satisfying clunks. So far so good. Oil light - wiring harness has rubbed on the gearbox causing the outer sheath to wear away and the circuit to earth and give a false indication. The two problems were unconnected. Thanks for all your advice and help.
  10. Step 1. Install the free VW Pre Compiled Database located on the download section of this site to your PC: https://free-speed-cam-updates.web2diz.net/ Step 2. Unzip/extract the files on your PC and copy the contents of the resulting folder onto a SD card. ( Important points to note: Only copy the contents of the main folder i.e. Do not copy the resulting extracted folder named Volkswagen PersonalPOI - just copy the contents that are displayed inside that folder which is a folder named PersonalPOI and a metainfo2.txt file. Delete the readme.txt file as well as that is unnecessary. Also further note that despite trying to use 2 different usb sticks unsuccessfully only an sd card would work for me. I used the sd card which contains my music files but remember to delete the copied files off afterwards as sometimes they may prevent your music from playing and they are no longer required as they have been copied to the internal memory of the Amundsen ). Step 3. Using the "manage memory option" of the nav settings upgrade the software. Step 4. In the "map" settings chose poi categories, scroll to the bottom and the newly added items should be displayed there. Tick these to activate them. Step 5. In the "nav announcement" settings of the nav settings make sure that there is a tick in the "My POI" item. This enables an audible speedcam alert. To sum up - it's pretty easy to do and it's free and there are monthly updates on the site. On the downside - I'm not sure how reliable and up to date the database is as I've already had to manually edit and remove an out of date camera from my location. IMO the audible alert is a bit feeble and can't be changed but it's better than nothing. I'm not too fussed on the camera icons either. I hope this post is of help to others and I would like to thank the contributors of the other threads regarding this topic on this forum from whom I have gained my insight. I have compiled my own version with my preferred choice of speedcam icons limited to UK fixed cameras and traffic light cameras using the VW database on the above site which I've attached below to share if anyone wants them. Remember to only copy the files as per the above instructions. My Uk Speedcams.zip
  11. Been watching this forum regarding the significant number of issues regarding the operation of the car. It's been on sale for the best part of a year or so now, but have the later builds of the Mk4 improved in soft and firmware operation or are there still a significant number of issues regarding this? Thought I'd ask as it won't be long now until a dealer starts pestering about replacing my existing car. Which I may keep if thing's haven't improved even though I don't like it much.
  12. Just got my first Skoda. It's a Skoda superb MK3 L&K 66 plate and so far I love it. Had some VAG cars before but this is my first Skoda.
  13. I picked up my 1.5 dsg SEL today, so far very happy with it only done 23 miles and it's done an update on the infotainment. Bit disappointed to find no torch in the boot and no paddles on the steering wheel, got the phone hooked up and connect working very easily, though I find the nav a bit cumbersome, also suprised by no auto wipers, though if you read the spec it's just says light and rain sensors I stupidly thought with rain sensor you would have auto wipers. Great colour Quartz Grey
  14. Greetings all! After years of admiring them and deciding to come off the company car scheme, I've recently been fortunate enough to grab a VRS estate. She's a lovely old girl, very highly spec'd I'm and loving it. Looking forward to loading it up with bikes, dogs and luggage and bombing up and down the country
  15. thanks mate...will check 2morro
  16. Snow on the hills yesterday
  17. In my and other's experience, these TPMS will throw up a false warning once in "a blue moon", once the system has tripped the warning light it will stay on even if that event was false. I think that all you can do is to stop or get off the road ASAP and check all the tyres, if they look and feel okay to a kick, reset the TPMS and continue your journey, if air is escaping the TPMS warning will come back on then you will know that you more than likely have a slow puncture. It is alarming and annoying when that warning goes off, but better having it than not having it I think.
  18. Just click accept on the right wheel
  19. I left the fitting to the professionals. And ive had no problems with the car.
  20. Looks great Any chance of some close up shots of the bars please? I'm also interested in knowing if you get any wind noise from them when driving at speed. I find load stops useful when carrying lengths of timber, you can wedge the timber up against the load stops and then slide the other stops up against the other side of the timber, This stops any sideways movement of the tinter. Then just some straps to tighten it down so if doesn't slide forwards/backwards.
  21. Yes, although I rely on the green led up by the SOS button as that's more obvious. Chris
  22. Hi Bryfly, Perhaps the roads in Hampshire haven't changed? Or you don't have a regular online connection? Up to March I was only driving to a local supermarket and back once a week - about 15 minutes each way. But since then I've made some longer journeys of around 30 minutes each way to get our covid jabs, and then one of about an hour each way last Saturday. And I seem to have a continuous online connection too. I haven't needed to press the update button either. I only found out that I now have the 21.2 version when I checked to see what version it was. But it's interesting that stephano up in Bingley has got 21.3!! Chris
  23. Mounted and ready! 👏 Hm, that’s a real shame! When do you find them useful, in what situations? Shouldn’t a good fastening with “ropes” (don’t know the English word) do? Anyway, making your own load stop out of wood should be to hard with the T-bolt setup when I think about it. Perhaps not pretty but hey, paint it black and no one would even think about it. 😏
  24. It could well be just as a reflector. Funny thing is that there appears to be a light bulb under there Maybe I am mistaken Anyway who cares - the car has all the lights it needs to get through an MOT and not be stopped on the road by plod.
  25. Couldn`t agree more! As I have got older, tech seems to be outpacing me and so much of what is happening to cars seems unnecessary. Why do I need to create an account on my car, I`m the only one who drives it! I dont need electric seats either. Why??

I have the paragon paints one linked above and it is very good and holds up well on the calipers
  27. I agree with this (as one that's mentioned my new car) in this thread). I assumed the faults were inherent and immediately visible (eg the problem with kph/mph is a software bug that they can't sort out, the inability for Android Auto to connect wirelessly is to do with a hardware version, the 1.5 engine either kangaroos or it doesn't). So when I picked my car up, I was immediately on the lookout for these known faults (I haven't looked at the kph issue as that will never affect me). I know that Android Auto just worked and this car doesn't kangaroo like my previous 1.5 did. The screen boots up when it should and, so far, has behaved. For issues to rear themselves over time implies they are not inherent, but are indeed a fault condition occurring which the software cannot render. I simply have my fingers crossed (though not when driving ) that this car continues to behave itself as I rather like it so far.
  28. i'm wavetrac and my first one
  29. What is the outside temperature? iV will not engage electric below 2deg C. See the troubleshooting guide at the end of the manual.

Depends on the camera I guess. USB C to USB C or USB C to micro USB would say.
  31. I seem to recall somebody having random issues like that before and it was traced to rodents having chewed through some cables. Apparently the cables are covered with something that mice are attracted to and this isn't just limited to VW group cars. Hopefully it is just a faulty infotainment module as re-wiring can get expensive.
  32. Amunsden sat nav is loaded onto a genuine Skoda SD card. No third party SD card will work.

  35. A steamed spark plug means it's burning water from a blown head gasket. Not by a valet cleaning with a steam cleaner Captain Literal!
  36. Absolutely Unfortunately I have ran out of attachment space, so I need to look into how I can manage my attachments on the forum, however for now you can see some pics here https://photos.app.goo.gl/R5PDKdsYFHH3KUMg8 Mod List: Eibach ProKit lowering springs 30mm front and rear. Eibach Spacers 15mm front and 20mm rear, with black gloss extended wheel bolts. Still to come; Longlife Cat-back exhaust Maxton Design front Splitter and Side diffusers, however I don't care for the rear valance from the kit so am waiting to see if maybe Rieger or TCS do a full rear diffuser as the ones for the new Octavia look great. How you getting on with your new Scala?
  37. You are missing the Sat Nav part to make it an Amunsden, so suspect it is a Bolaro. Both models are similar - one with Sat Nav - one without. However - if you could press and HOLD Menu button, go to Software/Versions and Versions and put the screenshot onto this page, I suspect it will be a firmware update you will need to fix the issue.

Thanks, so pleased with it, got the tsi 230 FL and the engine is such a peach.
  39. Pay attention to fine precission tools and protein drink
  40. Well it’s here on Saturday. Took it for a long test drive. Due to covid you go out yourself so I put it through its paces. It’s quiet, refined and pretty quick and I was impressed . But then again I’m coming from a 1.6 diesel and haven’t driven a petrol for some years.
  41. Great drive yesterday with the VW guys. 270km over the Remutaka Hill to Lake Ferry. Gorgeous day and Rusty ran beautifully. Unfortunately when I checked the drip tray this morning we have a new leak. Sigh. Everything Wellington European did is dry and good, looks like maybe the rear seal. Always a challenge, this car.
  42. 2018 sportline 280 in business grey... Jb4'd, this is picture from today after I've ceramic coated her...scrubs up well for a 3 year old girl 👀
