With a bit of luck I should pick up the car this Friday
  2. The SKoda system is fine, it detected a punctured tyre before I had noticed. Why would anyone want a complicated expensive unreliable system? There are enough complications to fail already on modern cars why add to the list?

Update 2 On Friday, I collected my car from the bodyshop and, fair play to them, the repairs seem to be invisible. I’ve not yet been out to wash it but I cannot see any mismatches in paint colour or overspray or anything like that. I’m really impressed with what they’ve done. Needless to say, I’ve made sure it’s parked out of the way of the neighbours cars. Especially Luke’s.

Thanks Stevie. Unfortunately my tyres are pretty fresh so I am stuck with them for at least a year after which I will try to swap my alloys for a smaller diameter. I already did the boot, the B pillars and the two front doors over the weekend. I put Noico on the resonant panels and in the cavities I stuffed rolled carpet underlay with bags of rolled mineral cotton. The B Pillars are very easy and a very low hanging fruit. For the boot I uncovered the trim up to the rear wheel arches so it was a fair amount of work learning how to take everything out, a lot of surface to cover with butyl and to put it all back. There is really a lot to cover behind the trim, many flat thin metal panels. The doors are on the harder side for a first timer with all the clips and connector. After all this work I do hear a difference, the car isn't annoyingly loud anymore and I can much less hear the noise from the side, like the passing cars. Also conversation is now much easier. On a coarse stretch of an Irish Motorway I register around 73-74 decibel when driving 120km / h. Still too much for my liking. It's also clear that now nearly all the noise is coming from the floor and the wheel arches. Hopefully tomorrow I will have all materials to do the rear wheel arches from the outside and once this is done will be able to report on the improvement in decibels. I also managed to order the MLV and it should be with me in a week or two.

  8. If I've said it once I've said it a thousand times, mileage is a very unreliable indicator of a vehicles general condition, it's a reliable money spinner for the motor trade though. So there's that.

Mine has finally been built lol. Ordered week 1 2021, built week 22. Lets see how long it actually takes to arrive now.
  10. Hello David. Before you are put off buying a Mk 4 Octavia, see my thread entitled 'The good, the (not so) bad and definitely not ugly Octavia iV Estate'. Ours was bought on May 11th and there are just a few minor glitches. Skoda has issued a software update, which will be installed into ours on June 17th. I'll report on the same thread on what, if any, changes have occurred. All I will say here, so as not to repeat myself, is that it's the best car I've ever driven and because of our driving style (around town a lot, out on longer journeys weekly) I'm certain that we'll get over 700 miles on one tank of fuel, 40 litres.
  11. Governed by The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001 Lesgislation which state that they must conform to BS standard BS AU 145d. BS standard which says they must have (amongst other) The name, trademark or other means of identification of the number plate supplier. Name and postcode of the supplying outlet.
  12. It's just some text on a plate... as an advertising medium I'd hazard a guess it's quite poor too. If I wanted something different I'd remove the fitted plates and change them (which I usually do anyway, to plates with no other markings apart from the reg number).
  13. 6 bar high side pressure when running would suggest low refrigerant level I think? The system is intended to be sealed, but they do leak in time.

Really important to fill the voids where the B pillar meets the cill with closed cell foam. We have two Superbs in the family and my wife's has the noticeably more noise at ear level than mine after sound proofing.
  15. She rides (again)! I've not taken it on a proper run out as yet, but I think it was a loose sensor connection after all. I reconnected, cleared the code, fired it up and it sat ticking over beautifully for 5 mins or so before I drove it a couple of miles home. No EML and after another scan, no error code. I'll go for a longer journey tonight, but let's hope that's the end of the Great Cam Belt Fiasco of 2021.
  16. nice ride out this morning, went the slightly shorter but extra climb road on the way home. and.... im mot sure how this is the first time ive done segment considering its the same route ive taken for the last couple of weeks, and there are 2 shorter segment bits in it that log every time. maybe if you "stop" for too long on it it doesnt count? anyway, out of 16 people whove done it, im the 5th fastest 8mins slower than the leader! but considering how long im only doing this, and the state of me bike im quite happy
  17. At the least, it will require a brake fluid change, cam belt and water pump, pollen filter, air filter, fuel filter. And if it’s DSG, DSG oil change.
  18. Hi yeti99 I think we need to know a bit more about your car. "My skoda" isn't much to go on.
  19. Renault Laguna. The four TPMS valves had a coloured rubber band around the stem. You could not move the valves from their designated rubber band coloured position on the car. The spare when fitted would show a warning light. The stems would break. The batteries went flat. You couldn't just change the valve stem with the rubber seal, so they would leak from where they fit to wheel. Peugeot 407. If you had the pear shaped key fob you couldn't move the valves from the original position on the car, if you knew where that was after you fitted four new tyres at the same time. The spare when fitted would show a warning. The stems would break. The batteries went flat. You couldn't just change the valve stem with the rubber seal, so they would leak from where they fit to wheel. The later 407's with the rectangular key fob you could at least move the valves around. The sensors were set to warn you at 2.0 bar but the normal pressures were 2.6 bar. So you could drive with the tyres underinflated by 0.5 bar with no warning. When these TPMS valves were £100.00 a piece fitted/programmed when it stopped working people would replace them all with normal valves and turn the TPMS off. If you don't have a spare wheel/tyre and you drive on a flat tyre you can break the TPMS valve inside the wheel/tyre. I would rather have the indirect ABS system and check my tyres and pressures. Thanks, AG Falco

  21. Had my third software update from Skoda and I am pleased to report that all bugs now seem to be resolved. Been using the car for the last few hundred miles and can happily confirm that everything is now working well. Fingers crossed that this is the end of the software gremlins!

It looks like the inside edges are more worn than the rest of the tread on the front tyres. Not unusual and you can find that the rear tyres wear the outside edge more. What I do is fit new tyres to the rear and swap the old rear tyres diagonally to the front. I also run mine at 2.4 bar, especially if you have a heavy diesel engine. Fronts will last about 27K miles for me but with no adverse edge wear at the end. Thanks, AG Falco
  25. Fit fine, just be sure to double check the tyre sizes on both. The 16s need a bigger tyre to make them the same height as the 17s my car has standard. Any bigger or smaller than whats on your car will mess with your speedo.
  26. Did not have KMH/MPH issue but had a host of other issues. Parking sensor faults, manoeuvre parking fault, black screen, Sat Nav not loading, Climate Control locked, Driving mode not working. But looks like all resolved, came back from dealers on Saturday

Appreciate you're on slime now, but a Gaadi tube might get you out of trouble: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gaadi-Double-Ended-Bicycle-Inner-Tube-change-tube-without-removing-your-wheel-/201999778559?var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338268676&toolid=10044&customid=Cj0KCQjwh_eFBhDZARIsALHjIKfGMxrnfArnanKTlvAcdKOZ2XMDlIty1QmgzqW1dMksIPJ3nqw20o4aAh6wEALw_wcB Gaz
  28. Sorry for the repetition, this always happens when I quote something from a page before the current one, nothing happens so you click "submit" again, and again, & then I remember what happened the last time
  29. They were only put on to test fit. I kinda like them in the silver though, they look better in silver on the mk1. I only wanted to try them out as I intend on using these as a winter set this year.
  30. You need to get them painted black. Will look so much better lol😀
  31. A new eco message turned up. 'don't put your foot on the accelerator ,whilst you have footbrake on' WTF , I mean why would you?

  33. Not all dealers sign up to the Skoda fixed price servicing scheme. For them to say that the Kodiaq is not included in the scheme is simply not true. I would find another dealer, or independent vag garage.
  34. Indeed, and to be double sure of non-compliance don't forget to have that illegal licence plate done in either italics, or that weird 3D floating text that is doing the rounds now. (Not forgetting to take off the front plate and put it in the front window.....for God knows what reason).
  35. Yes they did but then recently changed to G12Evo, which is what they used looking up that part number.
  36. Why stress? get down to halfrauds, buy some reflective yellow and white tape to cover the website, job done.
  37. Richmix - I took my Superb for it’s first service this morning and used Googlemaps on the way. For the first time ever it didn’t do the zoom dance… I still reported the issue. They had heard of the problem but they didn’t have a solution. It’s rare.. I was given a courtesy Karoq to drive around for the day. No problem with using Googlemaps via CarPlay in it either.. They said it appears to be more common when using a cable than wireless but didnt know why. They confirmed I have the latest software and couldn’t replicate the problem in my Superb. It didn't do the zoom dance driving home either.. So… My iPhone 11 updated its iOS a couple of nights ago.. I wonder if they’ve changed something in that update. Big brother watching us? I’ll keep an eye on it and let you know if the problem comes back. I don’t drive every day so might not know for a few days. Suggest you see if there’s a fresh iOS update for your iPhone and try that again..
  38. Well, it’s not a sealed unit and automotive ac systems are well documented as to leaking up to 10% of gas per year, through compressor seals, and flexible hoses etc.
  39. I don't know really, but excess crankcase pressure I suppose. Different engine, but have a look here:

Yeah, those are goosed. That sort of edge sipe wear I'd associate with specific makes rather than with a geometry issue.
  41. My advice would be to buy quiet tyres first. This will improve things far more than just adding sound deadening. Then if you want to further I found the biggest gains are found in this order: B pillar Boot floor Under rear seat Wheel arches I've also done the following but not convinced I got any benefit: Under bonnet Inside rear hatch (then had to remove some as it was too heavy) Doors are also tricky to dismantle and gains are questionable. Good luck, it's an enjoyable process, but really, tyres first.
  42. Just my regular wash cycle yesterday, but reapplied some Autoglym performance tyre dressing too. Thought the car looked lovely, so I took a snap!
  43. Also, today there was a show on German TV about the SW issues in the VAG group. I hope this will push them to fix the issues soon.
  44. Thanks for the reply, I wasn't ignoring it, just waiting for my bulbs to arrive from China. Finally received them last week and just got around to installing them. They do indeed make the car look more modern with the bright white LED DRL's and best of all no canbus error message. Thanks again for the heads up.

  47. I originally bought this Fabia as a cheap commuter car. I was only really unhappy with how high it looked. Since then I've changed/upgraded most aspects. I've started an Instagram page to chart my progress too @TurboFabNJ I'm no photographer though! I'm currently running an MST intake and turbo muffler delete, larger turbo from Audi 1.4tsi wrapped in a Funk Motorsport blanket, RTMG BOV, APR coilpacks and custom 2.5 inch turbo-back exhaust with sports cat. BC Racing coilovers, Whiteline rear ARB, BAF K brace, OZ Racing Ultraleggera which Michelin PS4s, vibratechnics engine/gearbox mounts. Custom remap and DSG tune. Inside I have a Mk3 Octavia VRS wheel with paddles and Leyo Motorsport paddle extensions, I also have a Leyo Motorsport shifter with custom topper. Sat in my garage waiting for me to fit are 312mm front brakes, braided brake lines, polybushes, RTMG Oil Catch Can. Also working on a custom front grill.
