  2. Hi all, I recently had problems with a Skoda Columbus 3T0 035 686N in my 2015 L&K Superb . The home page illuminated, then after a short while the screen went blank and the home page comes back on, the same cycle is then was continually repeated. As I was working in Ireland I was limited on companies offering repairs and opted for one in Cork who quoted €150 to repair. I took my car there but while the radio was being taken out it I was being asked if I wanted remapping and/or fitting of an alternative radio, which concerned me as I was hoping they could repair it. Anyway €20 later I was told the hard drive was u/s and again offered an alternative radio for €300. I declined and the got in touch with Rustynuts from this forum for advice, posted the radio to him who promptly informed me that it was a software problem. Radio and car are now happily reunited and working fine. Hope this gives hope to anyone out there with a similar problem.
  3. I assumed Android Auto always used the phone GPS. Just had a quick google and it seems that AA can request the car GPS data (where fitted). Google maps supported it first and Waze users have requested it as an improvement. It was a while back so I'm not sure if they've actually added support yet... It can only be the GPS antenna, wire or the headunit/software that's at fault. Seems like they've ruled out the GPS antenna so that leaves the wire or headunit/software. At this point, if I were you I would: - Make sure the software on the headunit is fully updated - Buy a cheap fakra GPS antenna from eBay and try that (eg: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224465036559) Assuming you're fully updated, if the GPS antenna fixes it, the wire in the car is causing your issues. If it doesn't, it's more likely to be a hardware issue in the headunit Oh, actually, I just remembered a TPI regarding damaged GSM/GPS fakra connectors - so check those are in good condition too. In the example below, the circled tangs need pushing inwards to repair the connector:

  6. so many amazing superbs here, im amazed they are all just superb. Here is mine, bought it a week ago, still getting to know her 2.0 dsg, 110kwh, 85k km. First car this big, amazed by it and getting a lot of positive commentaries. Lots of work on it, but it depends on finances. Like wheels, and stuff like that, but will enjoy it along the way Cheers from Croatia

We have had two 1.2tsi engined cars of that vintage (different Skoda models) and have gone to 150,000 miles/240,000 km (and still counting) without any major oil burning issue. Maximum of about 0.5 litres in 10,000 miles, often less. Both however have had broken PCV valves, a small black plastic valve plugged into the rear of the cam cover toward the gearbox end. They then hang down on the rubber pipe that connects them to the filter airbox. The small unoccupied hole in the cam cover then blows oil out, which leads to smells and oil covered sump. However the quantity involved is small and unlikely to be 2.5l per 10,000 km unless you drove hard. Its a very common fault, but be careful when you replace the valve as the broken bit of the valve is still lodged in the grommet in the cam cover. Try to recover that bit before pushing in a new one to avoid a big piece of hard plastic tube finding its way into the camshaft/valve mechanism which has the potential for major damage. Some pictures here to show you where to look. You don't need to remove anything to see it .....

I don’t see a problem you can still steer yourself when it activates

  10. General Custard is going strong. I've been pottering about in the car for a month or so since the belt was changed, and there haven't been any further issues. I've been getting through various jobs I noted since buying the car; Rust on wings Bent and rusty sills Cam belt and water pump change Service (sparks, fuel filter, oil filter, oil) Front tyres OSR leak (roof rail) NSR leak (light seal) Replace oil pick up pipe OSF leak Cat heat shield - reattach Slow puncture NSR Rear brake mooring/squealing Rusted wishbones Explore potential gearbox oil leak Remove service light indicator Replace ARB & front arm bushes Replace boot braces Rear exhaust pipe knocking (central mount before silencer) Interior light (driver's side) won’t stay on Chipped grill 00792 - A/C pressure switch 00532 - Supply voltage Signal too low (airbag) 00462 - Rear seat memory control module No communication (dashboard) 00463 - Digital Sound System Control Module No communication 01336 - Combination Comfort databus In single wire mode 01317 - Instrument cluster control module No communication (radio) Starter motor piston shriek Boot dent Peeling window tint Replace tailgate struts Driver window clunk/rattle Wheel nut caps Windscreen chips Replace knackered aerial Delaminated door handles Repaint petrol cap Clean interior Door card material sagging Replace headunit/speakers Unfortunately the rear slow puncture was a nail that was too close to the sidewall. Seeing as the fronts were almost new, I decided to replace both rears and have the car sat on a set of brand new tyres all round. Better safe than sorry. The rust issues aren't major, but I want to attend to those soon before they become a bigger issue. That's my next priority really. I've also started looking into retrofitting a MFSW and cruise control. I'll keep you posted!

Last week I did new SuperB and somethings were different then last on till 09 /19 ... New A5 Camera 2Q , new ACC radar... Coding is completely different for them now. I manage to code Lane Assist and Adaptive Lane Guiadance... I didn't manage to make VZE Traffic Sign as I get error on dashboard and navigation... Just to mention i made before on 200 or more cars without problems on MQB platform... If someone wants to talk about these or needs help . I am here.. Sincerely Davor Serbia
  14. I had to take mine off 2 weeks ago and when putting it back, I used Wynns black gasket maker - nice stuff to use. Haynes manual said inside of the bolts which made sense to me or surely the oil would leak out of the bolt holes? Torque settings in the Hyanes manual were 45nm for the 3 large bolts and 15nm for all the smaller bolts

Lol, I have the same problem every time these are discussed. Can’t decided if folk are taking about the PS4S or multiple PS4 tyres.

I've got Michelin Pilot Sport 4's on order with tyresonthedrive. And thanks for the vote of confidence in them.
  18. @nta16I agree about the usefulness of being able to view parts listings, all good stuff, well after you have had reason to search for many parts in all areas and so trained yourself into how the catalogue was designed. My best extra feature I ended up with when buying my next laptop was touch screen, very handy when searching through parts listings! I used to buy the odd Ekta disc to keep me going, but now that these "nice" Russians seem to offer free access to some hooky genuine up to date VW Group catalogues, I've stopping buying these Ekta discs, goodness knows what nasties they are sending down the line though as is said, especially in computing, if it is free then you are the product, gulp! Edit:- probably not that you will end up using this, but when these engines were built, the factory fitted version "a" of these plugs, when I replaced my wife's 2015 Polo's plugs, the plugs I got were version "b" - I can look up if you are interested, and let you know if it was the VAG parts code that had changed or the NGK model number that had changed, but in my head, I think that one changing was reflected in the other - so if the current plugs have an "a" within their NGK model number they were probably not replaced and if they has a "b" in the NGK model number they have been. The coils, VW Group went through a very bad patch coil reliability wise but that was back in maybe 2004 > 2008,this I think was mainly due to VW's suppliers being encouraged maybe to include more local content and the desire to reduce costs to the factories, this meant coil manufacturers ended up moving East wards which was not good initially, my wife's 2002 old Polo had proper old European Eldor coils made in a proper old European country like Germany and only had 2 coils fail in its 13 years from new with us, her 2015 Polo has Eldor coils made in Turkey, which concerns me a bit as Turkey is well known for state sponsored "copy" factories, so there could be more than one "Eldor" factory although that should only affect anyone buying via ebay etc, the move East wards lead to some bad habits and high voltage insulation was a casualty - and so many VW Group cars had early coil failures between 2004 and 2008, in fact most people that bought new Audis with the 1.8T engine, spent a lot of their early days of ownership driving around in I think Sourers(sp?) things got that bad. Audi dealerships in Europe tended to grab a loan of older stock " so okay" coils from Skoda dealership car stocks, sad but true. I have always considered Beru to either have similar issues or were unreliable even when manufactured within "old" Europe, others might know different. That was just background chatter concerning VW Group coils, which from my personal experience, is in the past as things have been sorted out or at least improved.
  19. I ordered this: http://www.kopacek.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-IV/Octavia-IV-Combi-original-Skoda-plastic-boot-dish-Basic-Floor fits like a glow. Compare part numbers with your existing one but I would say no.
  20. You say you are not sure, so I think that sums it up and answers your own question. I would be tempted to take in a case of wine as a goodwill gesture and a thank you, for them honouring there promise in a difficult situation. Colin
  21. Should be picking it up on Thursday. Very excited
  22. Might be worth comparing to a 3rd party extended warranty. I used Warrantydirect for my old Tiguan for years 4-7 and it was a good price and quite good cover too. I made a claim for a new propshaft and they paid out £1200 with no fuss when I found propshaft oil drips on the floor.
  23. So... RedBull made big fuss about an engine freeze, and as a result the next gen engines were brought forward to 2025....now RedBull doesnt like that and wants it postponed to 2026 again. The reason for the freeze is that RedBull will be building their own engines next year as an independent... oh no they wont! Honda have confirmed that the 2022 engines will still be built at Sakura. Sounds like R B have been lying all along to freeze Ferrati and Mercedes engines to their advantage. Reports this week also reveal analysis of Hondas latest upgrade shows a 13bhp increase, even though the power freeze is in effect .
  24. I've not read through all the posts on this thread, but just to add my immediate thoughts. Its far more likely to be plugs and/or ignition coil packs that are giving the rough idle. Highly unlikely to be a throttle body issue. The mixture is determined/trimmed by the lambda (oxygen) sensors, throttle body just regulates airflow. As it has thrown up misfire on cylinders 3 and 4, thats where to start. OE plugs are double platinum fine tip and are usually good for 40,000 miles. OE coil packs have a dodgy reputation for reliability, fortunately easy to obtain quality replacements from various places at around £30. When an engine is started from cold it runs rich until the CAT reaches operating temperatures , I believe these engines are known to be a bit lumpy during that time which should only be a few minutes at most. When you remove the spark plugs you should be able to see if there is a mixture or oil burning issue. Presumably you have checked your air filter is not completely bunged up. Finally, I did see you were charged for spark plugs at 28k and assume they were changed. Don't assume anything, it is known that some garages charge for work not done. If it was an independent they may have fitted some cheap and cheerful plugs, not OE quailty double platinum fine tip. Or maybe damaged or not refitted the ignition coils correctly. They require a special tool to remove the coils otherwise they can break easily, leaving the long bit down the hole and very difficult to remove, easy to picture a mechanic "oops... sht.....just screw the top bit back down and they won't notice......" Good luck.
  25. Pretty sure the new one is bigger?
  26. Thanks for that - I'm learning new words about as frequently as I'm 'temporarily misplacing' old ones. Do you know if they do a reductant for human use?
  27. Hehe thanks! Gonna make a video end of upcoming week. Now getting ceramic coating🙈
  28. Try again. The link takes you to a page with every part of every 2015 Mk3 Fabia engine, arranged in many links to individual pages (click on a picture of any that have CJZC in the title). Example, this page showing TB and associated parts. intake system - Fabia(FAB) [EUROPA 2015 year] (7zap.com)
  29. And you waited a week to show it to us?!?! Congrats! It looks very nice! When is the video coming up?

  31. I'm pleased to say I am now dent free, you would never know the above had ever been there. Must say I was sceptical, but I am very impressed. It now looks like I am driving a car I have owned from new for 4 days and not something that looks like I picked up from a scrapyard!

  33. Shy…ShyVRS245 is that you..? …
  34. Great finish though !!! Outstanding. Which products do you use?
  35. Yes - I would recommend that everyone enables Skoda Surround on their MIB system (enable Virtual Base and Skoda Surround). It can be enabled for Bolaro, Amunsden and Columbus systems. Offically supported on SOP3.x (0363 recommended) and SOP 4.x (0478 recommended). Go and find somebody who had VCDS locally to you or get ODBEleven Pro and get them to enable the following: Skoda Surround settings are: Module 5F, Byte 11 and change to Hex 04 Once enabled, go to Sound (via either Radio or Media), Settings and enable Virtual Base and Skoda Surround - and then stand-back and wonder why Skoda didn't enable it from the off!
  36. I'm not too well up on Bluetooth kits, but certainly swapping out the Bluetooth module from under the seat is pretty straight forward. However, for Bluetooth music streaming you might find that the wiring harness only provides single channel audio (moon to the drivers side) so might need another wire from the Bolero to the new module. Nothing lost by just plugging one in and trying.
  37. Some pics of my 3 month old superb. Loving the car. Wife tried to convince me to buy it in business grey but fancied a change after a few grey and black cars. Didn't fancy paying the premium on velvet red so race blue it was.
  38. After what seems like a long wait, mine will finally be delivered on Monday coming. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaah! 1.5 SE L DSG Brilliant Silver. Options: Rear view parking camera Heated washer nozzles Rear window wiper Heated windscreen I don't know if this fits with what @oh2jiuhas said (although I am in England) but I have bought mine through my employer's corporate discount scheme, which appears to use only a limited number of dealers in the country. My Superb was the only one available that was already built (only one available within the scheme that is) and it already came with the above options selected, I have not chosen them myself. I've therefore had the impression that either someone or a company had ordered the vehicle and added the options but then changed their minds and lost their deposit, or with the Superb being mostly a company car I did think perhaps some dealerships pre-order one or two cars with a few options fitted as they are likely to sell without issue. I was advised that if I placed my own order I would be receiving the car in September. No thanks! Like a lot of people, I am moving over to an 'automatic' after a long time of driving manuals, although I did own an automatic 18 years ago. There are pluses and minuses to both, I'll be honest from the outset and say I am only moving to a DSG as I want the car now. I'm happy driving either though, I always enjoyed my old automatic. I'm not new here, as I sadly had a depressing experience with an Octavia MK4, which I imagine for the regulars who scout around the forum I don't need to explain what issues that car has. I got rid of that back at the start of May and have been waiting for the Superb since then. And yes I know I am cheating, as I am not supposed to declare my vehicle in this thread until it is in my possession, but it is arriving on Monday and I am excited beyond belief, so let's hear it for 'la passione' and let me declare myself today !! I'll chuck up a photo or two in good time as well.
  39. Interesting. How do you know if your keys are ones going to sleep? I have opted for a RFID blocking keybox at home as I was unaware of this sleep feature.
