  1. In Eyemouth with the camera this afternoon. Looking at the broader picture with a wide zoom lens rather than using my “go to” long lens’.
  2. The MK3 version of any vehicle is always bigger and lardier then the original. The Golf has gone from a lithe athletic shape & size to a SupersizeMe lardar5e over its many iterations. All of the current Mini range of vehicles are an insult to the memory and creativity of the late great Sir Alex Issigonis. Can you imagine what for instance an original windscreen peak from a MK1 Mini would look like on one of the modern abortions?
  3. I've now returned to the Skoda fold after a short break having taken advantage of the buoyant part-exchange prices. So this is my latest daily, a 2021 reg facelift Mk 3 1.0 TSi SE in candy white, just over 4k miles recorded, and at least £1000 cheaper than dealer prices. It's good to be back.
  4. I reckon you'll need an illuminated endoscope thingy for yer phone and either the aforementioned grommet hole or whip the speaker off to get clearance to put a grabby hand thing in there. If you see a bald man saying you've got five minutes.... You've entered the crystal maze.

AH - mis read that apologies. Possibly as I never get the chance these days to get out and use main beam.
  6. I'd get it straight back the garage. And if they start being funny, ask to go out in a similar car and see if that's making the noise. The E10 fuel shouldn't be an issue because the car is rated to run it. If you were running E85, then you'd start to assume that was the culprit.
  7. Hi Wino, Thank you for your thanks!! I cannot believe I was tackling this over a year ago. Time flies and apart from the dodgy refurbished steering rack episode and a replacement alternator everything has been OK in my “Elegance” since. Thank you for your offer of a spare micro switch but for me, it something does not work and I’m unlikely to need it, the component goes in the bin!!

In the UK the front side windows must allow 70% light transmission and the windscreen must allow 75%. They tend to come from the factory already tinted to that level. You can have any glass behind the B pillar as dark as you like.
  9. https://www.pesch.cz/cs/kategorie/skoda Relatively cheap considering, of course shipping is another matter.

Thanks. I'll leave things well alone then and wait it out. Good luck everyone, I hope you receive your orders soon.
  11. I went trawling this forum a long time ago looking for sommit unrelated and found this WRC inspired Mk1 Fabia - Its a wee while ago and I don't know if that particular car is still around or what ever happened to it or where the kit was sourced from (did the back doors come from spares that were in Budapest or did I dream that ...?) Some of the more senior fellas about here might remember this one ! She looks the part and is as close as I've ever seen to a WRC

  13. Try using a magnetic telescopic reach tool
  14. MIB1 - first version fitted to Octavia 3 until mid 2015 production MIB2 (and MIB2.5 update) - second version fitted until end of Octavia 3 production in 2020 MIB3 - latest version fitted to Octavia 4
  15. Skoda Centre Caps 5E0601151 FOD (206.99CZK is about £7.10) https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/ozdobny-stred-kola-/p/5E0601151++FOD You should be able to order from a Skoda dealer using the above OEM part number.

But AnnoyingPentium is on about glare from the blue main beam light on the dash, not the headlights.
  17. Good call on taking the speaker off
  18. I've just bought some 16" Golf wheels today with 205/55 tyres that are hardly worn for £150. All my 225/45 17" tyres need pumping every couple of weeks so the tyres need removing and the rims cleaned and repainted.
  19. Hey guys sorry I haven’t posted in a while some exiting things coming in the next month , as some of you may know my factory dq200 has threw its toys out of the pram we all knew it was going to Happen and we all knew it was inevitable… it had standard clutch packs that were fitted from factory in 2012 it had the original mechtronics unit also… all that was different from oem was the stage three tune on it. So I’m doing something crazy and I will be the first person in the world to do it to a fabia I believe . It has been done in cupras and polo’s before, we are taking a dq250 6 speed wet clutch from a 2008 golf mk5 gt and putting it in the fabia if you look at costings then it really is a no brainer full dq250 gearbox with mech unit £300 Kevlar clutch packs £800-900 please welcome our donor (engine included) im thinking of doing something crazy with the engine also 🔥😎 many feedback welcome 🤗
  20. I suspect the injector wiring loom was damaged during the unplanned excursion, use an auto electrician or just replace it if it tests faulty.
  21. Out for a bit today and just snapped a few quick shots of the scenery.
  22. Last service was done by me in November. I replaced fuel filter air filter oil filter, new oil and a new oil separator.
  23. But at least Apple Carplay/Android Auto works every time you get in, rather than once in a blue moon, if there is a star in the east with a blood red sky.
  24. Thankyou very much
  25. @pixelovski Your engine uses (grey) coolant temperature sensor part number 06A 919 501A, same as all other mk1 Fabias. I would be tempted to just chuck a new one in to see if it changes matters.
  26. Hello Prash Looking good 😎 Gaz
  27. Thank you Roottoot for all the info. The cars had a service every year and the paperwork agrees with that, I'm just wondering if I can find more information on it. I was told I could use Erwin and it was free but it's seems like you now have to pay. Has anyone else used Erwin?
  28. Not shutting down due to the battery then. Need to get the connections checked to see if the motor is getting power or if it maybe even stops at the module.
  29. The funny thing now is that electric car will be another attendee in this ‘endless war’… 😁
  30. I would check the wires in the rubber umbilical between the body and the boot lid. They can fracture due to fatigue caused by the boot being opened and closed.

A member posted in the MK2 section in a thread there on Friday about an injection issue with a MK3. I linked this thread but they seem not to have asked their question here.
  33. Welcome back to the dark side.

Lovely weather for messing about on cars
  36. Could be, and Pirelli P7 summer tyres are known not to like cold rain, with grip falling off in wet below about +10c. Others have reported spinning front wheels with these tyres pulling out of junctions on cold wet mornings (even with 1.0tsi engines) I actually find the P7 are very good summer tyre, but it is not an all year tyre, so you do need to swap to winters Nov-March. Seasonal swapping time does mean would have been able to even out tread depths by refitting in different corner. Hopefully @techsearchuk realises factory fit summer tyres (and handbook indicating should be swapped around) means don’t just use them all year in same corners until one dies. Probably more of a warning to others.
  37. The glass clamps themselves are available on the bay... They're not in all the regulator repair kits, curiously, just some of them. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333540788899?fits=Model%3AFabia&hash=item4da8948aa3:g:~coAAOSwipleYlZ-
  38. I dropped McAfee like a hot tattie after it done nothing after a bit of malware ravaged our desktop computer. Same with Norton. I'm a lot more sensible now for a start, and I use Bullguard on my laptop and honestly jist being cautious is plenty on the desktop which is on Windows Defender alone.

Now imagine the lift pump having to refill the fuel line before the CR pump gets any fuel.
  40. Heavy tint that won't pass test?
  41. Id say stick with the standard setup - I had a gearbox blow up about 2 years ago and at the time I went with a Sachs DMF and a Sachs SRE clutch kit along with the release baring and slave cylinder ! Its good practice to changeout the slave cylinder. - The one we took out of mine was in good shape but its no harm when the gearbox is out As long as its good quality standard parts you put into her - I used all Sachs stuff but there are loads of OE alternatives - Middle of the road is perfectly fine, Avoid cheap and nasty ! Check the starter solenoid connection as well while its all stripped again no harm - Have I missed sommit - feeling I have
  42. Might be an ABS sensor issue. I think all Skoda's probably have tyre monitoring based on wheel rotation speed difference using the ABS sensors. If one is not behaving or intermittent dropping pulses it could fool the system into thinking that tyre is deflating.
  43. I don't think the system is very sensitive at all about tyre pressure. For reset I think it might be that you might need to drive the car, or drive further, after pushing the button to reset for it to get the message, switching the ignition off after reset might confuse it. If the light is on it's free and easy to try pushing reset this at the start of a journey plus you don't get your hands dirty or cold if the cabin is warm. Or IF the system is run off the ABS sensors it might be an intermittent fault with one of those and IF the sensor or cog it gets its message from are exposed it might just be muck or rust on or between them, this means checking in the cold and probably dirty hands. Another way to avoid the cold and dirty hands is to ensure the car battery is not at low charge so that any computer can start to play up, even if the car starts and lights seem to be bright enough. I also favour the car battery reset as again it's quick, free and easy to do and if it doesn't work you've lost nothing (see vid below) - first check your Owner's Manual for anything that might need resetting or resynchronising, the tyre warning light will come on for a while after reconnecting the battery so don't worry about that. The only other thing I've seen is that stupid fuse links on top of the battery can fatigue crack from car use vibrations so you could have a look at that for cracks, or crud at connections. Good luck.
  44. Check that measurements given. But you sit at the front corner. Do you live / drive where there are lots of roundabouts or even mini roundabouts. A pity that before now like a year / 9,000 miles ago the wheels / tyres were never swapped front to back or even checked. At some point there was 5 mm then 4 mm tread on the tyre.
  45. Has it ever worked? There's more than one usb port and 2016 is quite early for smartlink. Some ports work with Android auto but not carplay. They are quite easy to replace. Take a dig through Sasha's Octavia thread as there is loads of info on it in there.
  46. My mid June 2021 order for a Kodiaq SEL 2.0 DSG has now arrived at my dealer. Delivery next week I've been told. It took approx 1 week to get through UK customs. Hopefully others on this thread are starting to get good news too.
  47. You can do, but if you've managed to back the nut off half a turn, you can get a hacksaw straight on the thread, so it doesn't take much effort at all to saw through them. My point is it's not a job that needs any serious tools.
  48. I was followed for a few miles on a unlit 'A' road last night by what I think was a Octavia though it could have been a Superb - Either way, it had some sort of set up that adjusted the beam throw. It was able to project its beam throw down the offside of me, lighting up the right hand hedgerow a good way beyond me but cancelling its self out whenever a vehicle came towards us. Curious thing was, I wasn't able (via my mirrors) to discern any visible change in his headlights when this happened and nor was there any dazzle via my mirrors...........very clever I thought.
