Android 10 Stereo £162 AliExpress gamble! Results:
In short the answer is no. As you might have picked up on in previous threads about this, the only way to get the factory USB to work correctly if you have the factory USB type that has the +5volts and ground connected on the external part of the USB socket, is to splice in the required 5volt power into the quadlock connector. The onlt other option you really have is to replace the existing factory USB with a version that has the +5volts and ground wired to the internal pins of the USB socket. The way they have designed the double USB cable is that one USB will work as normal and the other only supplies 5volts that can only be used for charging something. What i did was use the USB that only allows charging and cut the end of the USB and spliced that into the quadlock connector to get the factory USB to work. Speaking to the vendor with most of our problems has always resulted in them not having a clue so get used to it2 points

Accurate Tyre Pressure.
2 points@nta16 @AGFalco Many thanks both - especially for that add-on fitting, never seen one of those before! 👍 and now annoyed I didn't think of that in the first place 😅 I might try that before considering another air compressor, but will probably pair it with a decent standalone digital (or hopefully mechanical) tyre pressure gauge to avoid any accuracy loss in extending the hose.2 points

VRS TDI front brake pads
1 pointCan't go wrong with Delphi or Brembo as OEM replacements. I've run both on loads of cars and had no issues. GSF Car Parts stock both brands, worth dropping them a message to make sure you get the right ones unless you already know the PR code.1 point

Diesel Monte's 2001 Skoda Fabia "Project vRSDI"
Back on the Spyders, first time since I "refurbed" them. Really liking the fat tyres on them. Few pieces should be here soon, but I got some this evening, namely poly wishbone bushes. Same brand I have on the monte (PSB), needed rear beam bushes and D bushes for the monte and it worked out to be not much more to get wishbone bushes for this on top. I'll fit these when I can, Montes got priority but these will get done relatively soon. Happy with the quality of these, got the whole kit for the same price as just the rear beam bushes from powerflex plus free shipping.1 point

VW ID. Buzz
1 pointInteresting that the guy clearly doesn't like EVs nor VW's haptic buttons, but gets to go the product launch of something that has all of those. I really like the Buzz, they've done a good job of styling and packaging. The ID ride and handling are excellent IMO, so this will be a great family bus. I can also see them becoming beloved of Taxi drivers....1 point

Plus i believe on the very early mk3's they used a lower spec gateway and bcm, so not saying you would run into issues but there may be issues down the line with error codes or faults without these being upgraded. Im still very interested to see this TV tuner in a uk spec car1 point

Looking at buying 2015 Superb 2.0 TDI - high mileage an issue? Upgrade HU to Android auto?
The screen may be compatible (due to being Columbus). If it is then you need to replace the head unit in the glovebox. Looking at £300-400 minimum. Then remove component protection at roughly £150 at a dealer that wants to play ball. Then get it coded to the car at roughly £200 by @pab567. Costs may have changed so these are guide lines. Looking at £600-1000 total for a low end unit. £1-1.5k for a replacement Columbus. More if a new screen is needed.1 point

Accurate Tyre Pressure.
1 pointThe all metal type tyre inflator seem better / stronger. See this:- A useful tip is pumps can tend to blow a fuse when you first start them. So I will start the pump then attach my extension clip to the valve. I will also just over inflate the tyre then use a tyre pressure gauge to drop the pressure down to the wanted level. Thanks, AG Falco1 point

Tyre size
1 pointSkoda dealers can't help you modify your car. All they can do is recommend what Skoda has approved. Slightly oversize tyres such as 225/55R17 fitted to standard 7Jx17 ET40 rims and 245/45R18 fitted to 8Jx18 ET44 rims will be fine. Many Superb MK3 owners are already using these sizes without problems.1 point

Scout Haldex Differential Noise
1 pointIt is the revison number, the higher the letter the later the revision, the later revisions will be backward compatible. In the absence of a known weakness that was resolved on later models do not assume that a higher revision letter means a better product or quality, the quest for cost saving in materials, machining and production time can often mean later components are not as good or robust as earlier, the 6 speed concentric slave cylinder being one of them. I only concern myself with revision numbers on electronic controllers like the body control module, steering wheel slip ring etc, there it can be very important, some are "low line" revisions for budget models and dont have all the required inputs & outputs. For the diff I just searched for the basic part number and VW, VAG, Skoda etc.1 point

High Beam Assist Module 20 (Low Line) Coding
Some success - I think. I'll post a more detailed reply later but on 09 - changed the adaption for light assist - High Beam Assist (text was in German Menuesteurung Fernlichtassistent ) to Not Present. In Long coding byte 2, changed option to Bi-xenon without light assist. [Initially I deselected all headlight options under byte 2, but then the dynamic cornering light option disappeared from the menu in the ent system.] Seems to have worked. No mfd dash warning or ping when using high beam. It also seems to have removed the 09 fault error for a data error received. The HBA error for faulty control module still shows in scan but that doesn't worry me. @langers2k given the above - I shouldn't be left with a battery drain issued should I? Thanks All.1 point

Accurate Tyre Pressure.
1 pointYes don't rely on any gauge on any pump unless proven accurate with testing over time. The accuracy of the (sperate independent) gauge isn't about type but the build quality absolute precision isn't really needed as long as the gauge is and remains consistently accurate and you use the same gauge all the time on all the tyres. If I lost or damaged the Halfords 2015 digital gauge I'd happily go back to using my one remaining old PLC pencil type pocket gauge, just be more difficult to find in the boot as I don't have a case for it (and not glove box or door pockets on my car). Good luck with whatever you pick.1 point

MIB 3 Software glitches - Camberley Service Centre - anyone used?
If MY21 then its MIB3. The Edition comes with the Columbus interface - larger screen and no buttons. You'll have 5 'touch buttons' printed on the left side - Menu, Home, Vol up & down and power. As to satnav map database, if the MIB3 shows 21.5 that means 21 = 2021 and 5 = May, so you are behind. This indicates that there has been an update installed since the car was built, although whether that was over the air (under the Infotainment online feature) or it was manually updated by the dealer ahead of the sale, remains to be seen. What software version do you have? Version 0270 seems to have some issues which can include not acting on over the air map database updates. There have been over the air map database updates released since you bought the car in June 2021, so I'm guessing you have software version 0270 and over the air updates therefore haven't been acted on. There are software updates that only dealers can apply and won't show on the update portal. Infotainment online is only free for 12 months from registration, so unless you pay to extend it for a further year the maps won't update over the air anyway. You should be contacted by Skoda to tell you the free Infotainemnt online period is due to expire and offering renewal at a fee. However, if you are on software version 0270 and it is not acting on over the air map updates, then even if you accept that renewal offer, the over the air map updates still won't happen unless the software is updated to a version since 0270. If that is your software version, then talk to your dealer pointing out that the over the air map updates don't appear to be being acted upon so would they kindly update your software version. Hunt around on this forum - there have been posts outlining what the MY21 Skoda online package provides and what you lose if you don't pay the yearly fee after your first free year of Infotainment online expires. Main things that I can find missing are the map database over the air updates and live traffic data - but there are other things you lose such as Remote Access (I've never used that so won't miss it). In the absence of achieving successful over the air map updates, you will have to do it manually by downloading them off the Skoda website and uploading them to the car via the USB-C sockets in the front.1 point

UK Public Charger Network & price increases as they are announced. Please post here as you become aware of any changes in the costs.
It doesn't feel fair to our fossil burning friends to lower EV charging VAT. If anything, I would support increase of rapid charging VAT to discourage its use. Aim is to get "plug-in at destination" mentality into people's minds, that way in the future we can rely on the masses of parked EV's to balance the grid. Another benefit with increased rapid charger tax is that those who drive more, pay more. Indirectly it is a per-mile tax. Home/overnight/car park destination charging, I think should remain at current tax level, tied with domestic use. This removes complex schemes (less paperwork and thus less overhead) to regulate home chargers.1 point

My first VCDS scan. Help me fix my problems please.. 2.0 2016
Scopes and mustimeters are different tools for different tasks. At a guess, a load test would be a good plan to check the other wires which can be done using a bulb Plenty of fault codes still present. 4718 - No Communication with Transmission Control Module Feels odd given the DSG is showing in the scan, this is similar and needed the flash finishing/redoing: https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/16335/ Given the number of DSG faults, that does feel it could be a wiring/power/ground issue...1 point

Front pad wear expectations?
1 pointOver 60,000 miles or 100,000 kilometers and you are doing well. Less than 30,000 miles or 50,000 kilometers and you are not doing well. A lot depends on your driving style. Good drivers who plan well ahead, drive in an economical fashion, and maximise their use of engine braking to slow down, will have brakes that last a long time. It helps to have a diesel engine, because diesel engines produce more engine braking than petrol engines.1 point

High Beam Assist Module 20 (Low Line) Coding
Yes, if you were to retrofit a lowline HBA module, you would code other modules. You can try 'uncoding' HBA, at a guess: - BCM adaption Fernlicht_assistent-Menuesteuerung Fernlichtassistent to not present - BCM adaption Fernlicht_assistent-Menuesteuerung Fernlichtassistent Werkseinstellung to not present - BCM long code, Byte 2, Bit 0-2, check the drop down for the correct option That will probably just remove the HBA option from the headunit. The only extra thing would be to remove 20 from the CAN gateway installation list, that'll definitely result in some error codes, not sure if either of these will prevent the warning on the cluster etc. Assuming the rear view mirror has a switched power feed, disconnecting the two CAN-bus wires should finish the removal. If it has a permanent feed, I'd be worried about battery drain...1 point

Accurate Tyre Pressure.
1 pointI've seen this one get a good review but it is a (metal) screw-on fitting still, hopefully better made though, all metal bodied, needs the engine running to use - Viair 70P Portable Compressor Kit 12V 100 PSI for Passenger Car Tires w/ Twist-on Tire - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303726177395 Personally I dislike the electric pumps they're generally noisy, asthmatic and all the farting about with that thin wire cable draping out of the window and on my wife's Fabia the thin wire cable won't fit back into its space so the pump does fit the polystyrene boot space holder thing. I prefer and use a manual foot pump, have done for decades (instead of carrying a spare wheel but let's not start that debate). Unfortunately like a lot of items now the manual foot pumps aren't as well made now as they were decades back. I have a Heyner PedalPower Pro now, only had it for a year or two so I don't know it's longevity, it does have the lever clamp fitting which I also prefer but as it's a twin type head I don't know how well it'd fit in some of the high-fashion wheels some have on their vehicles. The retaining clip to hold it compressed when stored isn't designed or made that well but it does do it's job. The gauge, like I've found all to be, is not to be relied on. - https://heynershop.co.uk/air-compressors-air-pumps/20-pedalpower-pro-foot-air-pump-4028224218007.html1 point
