My Octavia arrived on 17 August.
  2. Looks like the ceramic coating is still effective👍
  3. Grant Shapps being run over by a driverless car 🤷‍♀️ Oh, sorry. You said the 'worst that could happen'.

I’m concerned by how few orders on the spreadsheet have reached completion. Not good!!
  6. Yeah they are, no arguments from me haha. Hopefully I can sort all this nonsense out soon. I've got a lot of bodywork corrosion to sort after as well. I need 2x new front wings and a driver door and a few stone chips that need seeing to on the bonnet. I've made myself a promise that this be the last time that I'm sentimental with a car 😄 I've also got an Octy as a runaround now as well at the moment which makes repairs on the Polo easier to sort because I don't need a garage with a courtesy car and I don't need it back ASAP either which expands my options on garages
  7. Yes! Thanks for asking. I wasn't sure if you guys would remember. All in all the car has set me back close to £2k which is why this clutch & DMF rubbish is rubbing more salt into my wounds.
  8. Grant Shapps MP has made every attempt to make the UK roads safer or to fly kites and spend time and money looking into things and funding technology research. People were having to use cars & bikes and roads more during Covid to avoid public transport and now during industrial actions. He has allowed people to tow trailers caravans without any training, people are driving without passing driving tests because they could not get tests. He has introduced pilot schemes for e-Scooters and want them legalised. He wants people to be able to drive HGV's without training or tests. He wants cyclists to have registration plates and insurance while many vehicle drivers have no licences, insurance or MOT's on vehicles. What is the worst that can happen?

So I picked the car back up yesterday. The good news is that it's running beautifully again. The bad news being it cost me 1,200€. The mechatronics was the fault obviously. There was a crack in the housing around the accumulator. It's likely to have been there for a while which means the pump runs much more than it should and eventually pushes oil out the breather. Took it to a local automatic and DSG specialist nearby and they've rebuilt the mechatronics with a new housing and seals etc. I figured if I just took it to the Skoda or VAG garage they'd just want to replace the mechatronics with a new one and the bill would be much higher. Ah well... such is life with cars eh?!
  10. Well, my experience of cars fitted with stop/start is that 3 years is about the life of a battery, and don't forget to get the new one "coded in" so the rest of the electronics know it's a new battery!
  11. Memory slipping... just like an old clutch...? Best joke I could make here.
  12. Cars are nowt but grief
  13. Perhaps the OP can look at the service code on their boot floor sticker?
  14. UK market Fabias may not have been supplied on variable service in 2008 root, but other markets probably were. Mk1s could be on variable in other markets. See this ETKA page for year 2000 Fabia for example, first section of table engine oil; for models without extended servicing... - Fabia(FAB) [EUROPA 2000 year] (7zap.com)
  15. Always more satisfying to repair rather than replace, in my opinion.

New company car, Octavia Estate Vrs iV (no options), order November 2021 through Ogilvie Leasing. Currently looking at an ETA of early October 2022 but still no build date as far as I can see. Fully expecting early 2023 for delivery.
  17. Well, I think it’s definitely something to do with the towbar. Loaded it all up and connected the bike rack up and lo and behold, everything is working again. Good job too as the drive home took 5.5hrs in crawling traffic - I wouldn’t have been happy without the ACC! I did connect and disconnect the bike rack a couple of times shortly after it started playing up to no avail, but this time it’s all fine. I left the engine running whilst disconnecting the bike rack this time and no warnings or anything. I figured perhaps as the rack had been disconnected after the ignition had been switched off the first time, maybe that was why it had thrown a wobbler. I’m still going to get it checked out though and will report back when I know more though.
  18. Sorry will be over 2 posts.
  19. I think 3B2 ending 016R I not on laptop to check if this is correct, bang it into Google and see.
  20. Thanks Gerrycan. As an interim mpg figure, over 5747 miles the Octy has averaged 85.2 mpg in real-world numbers. It's likely to be much higher since the last refill as I've used mainly e-power for the last two months. I read today that your former pm was nicknamed Side Hustle Scotty as he appointed himself to five ministerial roles in addition to being pm. One writer was quoted as saying that we all know people who can't do their own job but reckon they can do everyone else's better. At least Australia in not rudderless now, unlike the UK where little seems to be under control and not likely to be until the new pm is in place in September. I just hope that a plague of locusts will not be the final crisis to challenge us poor beleagured Brits!
  21. That would be greatly appreciated and take your time, it just shows that your vehicle of choice is ideal for your circumstances and needs. I'm not sure how your figures will compare with the 'since refuel' display details (if you have one) since it quite possible your time between refuels will be greater than the 'long term' display automatic reset? First world problem
  22. i had a Cordoba waaay back, a 2003 1.2, from 2007 to 2012, before i got my first octy - 2004 mk1 1.9. ive looked at seats since as well, but, imo, skodas feel more solid built. the trim plastics and fabrics feel thicker and more durable, less likely to rattle and squeak over time. this may not be the case, but thats my feelings when i compare them on build quality.
  23. The are a few manufacturers selling here with various very mild hybrid models and the improvement claims vary from 0.3 to 0.5L/100 which ties with your experience at the better end, and I am pleased to hear you enjoy yours and I also agree with you about learning to drive to the mHEV characteristics. Very few professional car reviewers would have the time or inclination to do that, in much the same way they don't pay for their fuel or work out real consumption but just quote the display. You are right about the lengths that some manufacturers go to improve consumption for ice, but not many are proving to be really (or commercially) successful in the real world; Nissan variable compression engine and Mazda compression ignition spring to mind but there are more. Stop/start technology made a similar improvements to NEDC consumption claims (about 0.5L/100) but in real life some people just switch it off because it is 'overactive' and others are reporting their expensive AGM batteries seem to experience relatively short lives and I'm not sure if the latter case if the fuel savings are greater than battery replacement costs? If the mHEV has more benefits than negatives then I shouldn't and won't be critical, but it would be nice if the consumption improvements around town were a bit better My wife and I both drive our Octavia, she averages a creditable 5.9L/100 driving to and from work in our peak traffic in an outer urban environment. I will average about 15% less in the same conditions, no electrickery just technique.
  24. I'll be able to check real world mpg when I next refuel as I keep a spreadsheet of fuel details - cost, volume, etc. However it could be a while before I report - I last refuelled 9 weeks ago and the tank is still 3/4 full. Yesterday I did a 26 mile drive on e-power. I drove fairly slowly on narrow country roads and after 26 miles, there was still another 10 miles range indicated. The aircon was on, so I'm very impressed.

  26. I just wanted to update this post to resolve the problem for anyone who might have the same issue. The issue was fuse number 36 had melted the plastic in the fuse box but testing the power flow showed normal power flow but the melted plastic didnt allow for a full circuit to be made. I had to rewire the fuse to another spot temporarily while I try to find another fuse box but might be hard since hey went out of production in 2020 for Austria if anyone has a place to get one new let me know the part number is 6Q1941824B
  27. That's what I use Gaz
  28. Me too Just look at all those positive buzz words; revolution.... improve..... safety..... better..... new jobs..... created.... industry.... £billion.... support..... investment..... fund..... all in just three bullet points. It almost sounds too good to be true. I can hardly contain my excitement and that warm glow inside. Gaz
  29. Im running a stg3 ECU & TCU tune, my torque is 422 ft lbs which 572.16 NM so I can tell those figures are conversative! Also from TVS Engineering, who are the best DSG tuner globally.
  30. Maybe that "24" is 24 days until the next service is due, so that means that the workshop that carried out your oil change did not reset the service indicator or that 24 days is until an inspection is due, probably the smart thing to do is to reset both service and inspection warnings when servicing the car - and carrying out any extra tasks that are required for the inspection. Edit:- if the "24" changes to "23" after a day and so after another day, then that would confirm or disprove my suggestion. Similarly the "1200" will drop to a lower number of km once you have run 100 or 200kms.
  31. All driving modes will need a colour selected. As mention before, all 16 "Ambientelicht Zuordnung der Farbe zum Fahrprofil-Fahrprofil" channels need a none zero value. One driving mode can be customised and will use the colour selected in 'manual'. This is done by setting the "Ambiente_Fahrprofil_Individual" channel to that driving mode. In my example, it's set to 7 so "individual" can have the colour changed. This customised colour was the feature I had issue with until the CAN-gateway firmware was updated... If you end up with a disco mode (colour changed twice a second) on the headunit, set "Ambiente_Fahrprofil_Individual" to an unused profile like 6 or 9. You'll loose the ability to set it via manual mode I'm afraid though 😞
  32. Well, to load 6260/6276 into units older than C14 you have to change some IDs in the unit with the service software (e.g. SetConfig) or have the software modified and new checksums calculated - however both don't make any sense as GPS chipset is different in C14 so after loading 6270/6276 to the older unit GPS will not work.
  33. Not owned both, but test drove both last year (2018 vintage). The Octavia won hands down with both Mrs B and me, the Leon felt much smaller and had a harsher ride. Finished up with an Octavia hatch - huge enough boot for our needs, because I couldn’t find an estate with the spec and colour we wanted.
  34. Just picked up this cracker, love it so far

I am 12 months into my order and by the looks of things I’ll be waiting at least another 6

Yep, that's it. 5th from the left, top row, '1KD' is your brake option.
  38. It's possible to fit the driven plate the wrong way round, it's also possible to fit the new DMF slightly out of position by not torquing the crank bolts correctly. The job might have been done badly by an inexperienced mechanic who was rushed.
  39. I think today was my lucky day. I found the little f**ker! Underneath the passenger seat is the control unit thing with the black plastic cover. I pulled this off (which I have done before) and decided I'd also pull the control unit out to see what was underneath. I then found a broken zip tie, which made me wonder if someone had previously run cabling through here and cut the zip ties So I then proceeded to pull the carpet up next to where the plastic cover would be (as pictured) After poking around a bit, I felt something metallic that didn't belong there..............WTF??????? The cause of my near insanity over the last few months is a.....coax connector?!?! In fact, it is a BNC coax connector. Most likely scenario is the previous owner had a UHF radio and they (or the dealership I bought it from) kindly left the connector as a gift when they removed it 🤬 Took the car for a spin and sound is definitely gone! Thanks to everyone who posted on this thread. It's great to see how helpful people are on this forum and truly appreciate your input. Cheers!
  40. Welcome to forum! Was Peugeot problematic?
  41. The opening panoramic sunroofs can be troublesome with seals The motors might need occasional oil-grease as well to run well. The fixed bonded type (that was fitted to cars like roomster) are just like the windscreen, very unlikely to leak The sunshades (blinds) do block out lot of the heat, but really glass roof is better for countries where it is not as hot, or daylight is restricted in winter months as they do make car light and airy when blinds are open.

Ceramic will not help against stones. I wrapped the front of mine with PPF and then a ceramic coating over the top and the rest of the car. I can only recommend that. Especially if you drive a lot on highways and in winter.
  43. There is another connector tucked right up under the seat squab, before resorting to the resistor bodge (I was also at that point) I would remove the seat after you have disconnected the yellow connector, its only 4 bolts, take it off, invert it on a clean or covered bench and all will be revealed. In my case the yellow connector was a red herring that cost me a hell of a lot of time.
  44. Sold BMW today. Being picked up Monday. 272 arriving Wednesday 24th August. 7 sleeps ‘til new car day!!
  45. Thanks all, sporadic signal here so apologies for any delayed replies! Shame, I was hoping it’d be a quick ‘pull fuse X and it’ll reset’ job. Irritatingly my local dealer can’t fit it in to take a look at until 26th Sept, so when we’re back I’ll definitely try and find someone to give it a scan. @numskull hopefully it’s just that - at least it’s under warranty for now
  46. Our 2016 280 did exactly this last year and it was a failed rear wheel speed sensor.
  47. I don't know about the facelift Superb, but with the pre-facelift Superb u need to have SLA headlights.
  48. Indeed, I had sent a PM several months ago to add 1 or 2 mods I had found to this 'tried & tested' thread, but no answer...
