I have never known a poor Scrappy in my life. There is value on the dismantling and salvage and recycling and the industry is geared up for the disposal of EV.s. Their issue is that the batteries and motors are in such high demand for the 2nd life use just now that they are not scrap. Or requiring 'extermenation'.
  2. I can't really see how this relates to your pics, but apparently the relay of interest will be in location 10b as shown here:
  3. I'm just looking into the relay possibility. I have found a circuit, but not yet found the relay location on the relay panel. Bear with me please. Might be a much quicker/cheaper/easier thing to try first.
  4. No, I've never noticed any from mine.
  5. Might be worth a read of this thread, seems quite possible that you have a similar stalk contact burnout type failure. Fabia II Bandaid solution to High Beam failure TAKE2 - Skoda Fabia Mk II - BRISKODA
  6. Hi Brian, how far into the warranty period are you? I'd seriously consider rejecting if you can - or at least flag the issue to supplier.
  7. It was a bit wild on the A57 earlier and for a brief period we were above the clouds!

I wouldn’t say tracking your whereabouts or miles clocked up is necessary. Or indeed barring after market modifications. Just taxing the kilowatts used to charge your vehicle and a rebate on that if vehicle 2 home or vehicle 2 load is used and/or a higher rate of tax on fast charging. At the end of the day current fuel duty makes a far greater contribution to government purse than road tax.
  9. Are you fitting good 19" tyres for use in snow in Austria before and after it comes to the point the Chains need to go on? The Tyre / Wheel size as given in the guidance from Skoda is the way to go IMO. Snow or All Season Tyres are best fitted, then the snow chains when required by weather or law. (So unlikely ever the snow chains will be used in the UK on 19" rims / tyres. They would never be on for long before needing taken off. ) Hopefully anyone that does use Snow Chains on 19" tyres on an Octavia anywhere will be along if there are such members. Clearance even before the snow is then on the chains must be an issue, and getting them on and off even in the best of locations / circumstances. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504761-snow-chains http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/443656-snow-chains http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/439874-snow-chains-or-socks http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/503202-thule-snowchains-for-19-wheels-bough-for-superb-mk3-unused-as-new
  10. Hi Brian, one point to note - cruise will not generally give you the best fuel economy possible.
  11. Agreed, wheel speed sensor.... same happened to me.
  12. @varooomThanks for that, appreciate it. I now think that it might be the stalk because when the flash stopped working yesterday, the blue main beam symbol did appear on the dash when pulling on the stalk, But now when I pull on the stalk to 'flash' the blue main beam symbol doesn't appear on the dash anymore. So now it seems to me that the stalk isn't giving any signal anymore when pulled. Someone mentioned on another thread that they took the top steering cowl off and sprayed some contact cleaner onto the stalk contacts.. I'll give that a try and see how it goes first.

The vehicles themselves need to be taxed equally as they are all taking up space on the road and causing wear and tear on the road network. Traditionally as others have said if you are a high miler then you use more fuel and therefore pay more tax if you use less you pay less tax. Why not introduce a card or an app that basically is required to “un-lock” the vehicle and allow it to be charged (or an add on to the myriad charging apps already out there) so when charging the vehicle, tax is applied respectively and this would be at home/private charging or public equally. If charge-2-home or charge-2-load is being done then same card or app would be used to refund some of tax. As far as retrospective is concerned, a line would need to be drawn and just move forward from there. As far as I can see it would be far to complex/expensive and unfair to apply retrospectively to the early adopters of the tech as they have already payed more (for the vehicle) than comparible ICE. In any event we can speculate til dooms day, it while be those we elect who make all the wrong decisions in the end anyway.
  14. That's perfectly normal for all Octavia 3's - it's the battery management system operating as designed to keep the battery state of charge to 80% to allow headroom for some minor regenerative braking.
  15. If OP has invested in Carista (like I did) and found it hasn't done what he wanted (like I did), and continues to want LED sidelights bulbs that don't seem bring up errors 99% of opinion on here is it needs coding out. Unless you have the expertise (I dont) or time to learn VCDS and a cable or OBD11 (I dont) getting someone else to code it out is pretty much the only practical way other than trying multiple bulbs on recommendations. Going back to stock bulbs is easiest and cheapest. But yes, some people are that anal they will go to great lengths to have it the way they want it. The great modern combination of marketing and consumer culture.

The "Specialist vehicle disposal or recycling charge" will be the next tax. Electric vehicle owners will have to pay a tax because of the environmental impact of their vehicles at end of life.
  17. The DPF is blocked, 18 minutes and 11km since last regen which failed, that the measured soot is pretty much double the calculated is very bad indeed, when mine shows a calculated 22 grammes the measured will be 4 or 5 grammes. That and the high oil consumption points to it being offloaded via PX by the previous owner due to the cost of repairs.

Did you ever make a decision on this one?? As a sim racing update, got an invitation to a one off race with a £10k prize pool the other day, sadly the entry fee was beyond what I had on me at the time otherwise it might have been a nice paycheck.... But on similar lines, I've now started working for a company that creates setups for various sims as one of their engineers, so now im getting paid to faff about with cars in games
  19. The "Recent campaign query" thread is pinned globally. That's the thread @Grady is talking about.
  20. Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything. Just for info, the link Carlston has kindly put to go directly to the info wont work as I (don't) understand it because it no longer has some sort of digital/computer/program/internet(?) American biscuit so you have to go to the following link and paddle to the info via the model and part of year (or VIN for your own car). - https://manual.skoda-auto.com/004/en-com/Models I too heartedly (and regularly) recommend reading and refereeing to the Owner's Manuals even if they get more frustrating to use with newer models. The Owner's Manual for the Octavia iV (is that supposed to be Mk4) Issue dates 14.6.2021 and 29.11.2012 have the same as Carlston has put except they only have for 17" (and not 16") - "Rim size 6,5Jx17 ET46, Tyre size 205/55 R17. Only fit snow chains with links and locks that are no larger than 13 mm." 205/55/17 compared with 225/40/19 doesn't give very much extra clearance above the tyre. - https://tiresize.com/tyre-size-calculator/
  21. They oil ash levels are only a calculation from an algorithm anyway, they could be much better or much worse in reality. I am encouraged to see measured soot levels being less than calculated, that to me is a sign of a healthy DPF, the couple of threads running at present where people have blocked DPF's and are suffering constant regens both have measured soot levels significantly higher than the calculated ones.
  22. I have owned it for two weeks. The warranty is a year. I assume rejecting it will be harder the longer it goes. I’m torn about doing that because the dealer does not have an alternative car I’d take and does still have my old car which I really wouldn’t want back. I’d have to somehow get cash while leaving my old car there. If I could get this one properly fixed that would be my preferred option.
  23. @nta16Thanks, I'll update it with this information now.

Sounds truly soul destroying. Not allowed to tamper with the white good car and being tracked everywhere. No thanks. just increase VED, leave VAT on fast charging at 20% and add a weight/efficiency element for EV..
  25. One of my puddle lights in an indicator failed. I bought a new bulb and failed to remove the glass as it was held in very tight. So I asked a Skoda garage to replace the bulb when the car was in for other work. They found the bulb had not failed but the software set up had changed! They recoded it and it has been fine now for the last two years. No charge made either! I mention this in case you find your old bulb has not blown.
  26. You can download one from a sticky in this forum. See the stickies at the start. Skoda have introduced a refreshed section on their site which allows you to download any handbook for any model past and up to the latest models
  27. From what I can read in the wheel technical documents, you are only approved to fit the chains onto 16" or 17" wheels, and the chain cannot be bigger than 15mm.
  28. A very good description. I followed the same path with the Yeti 108hp with similar results although the claims are much higher, I would say that it has a useable 170hp, possibly the VAG 170 map but with a smaller turbo so drivable from 1K RPM in any gear.
  29. The front and rear washers use the same pump so coding the pump out is not going to achieve what you need although the mk3 jet is on the rear light so even if you accidently use it youre not going to damage anything just have water sprayed onto the rear window... I will have a look on the coding side and see if there is anything you can do to turn off rear washer via the bcm and not the motor itself, not sure if its doable though. Will have a look today for you
  30. @nta16thank you - I’ll take a look tomorrow
  31. Hi guys, Job done. There is a littile latch to be open and then you can slide down the pink part of the fuse box. And then without problem I have inserted the terminals. Finally job completed. Thank you "chimaera" and "smart pro" for your help. I've done adaptation and everything looks work fine. But i haven't got the trailer yet to test it. looking for a caravan to buy soon. Thanks
  32. Once again I have to point out that the Canbus system has nothing to do with the monitoring of bulb resistances, the function is carried out by the Body control module or Comfort control module or whatever they choose to call it on your vehicle. All the manufacturers saying their LED bulbs are "Canbus compatible" etc are talking rollocks, unfortunately it is so widespread that people are repeating the rollocks. Is it really so offensive to see a slight yellow hue from a sidelight or number plate light that you would go through all this expense and hassle?
  33. Thank you to everyone who has responded. You have given me more information than I have been able to obtain from a Skoda dealer. There is a lot of knowledge on this forum and I appreciate all the time and effort you have given me. Cheers Richard
  34. So my diag tool did work (albeit painfully slow) and: Oil ash mass: 57.60g Oil ash volume: 0.14l Soot calculated: 13.71g Soot measured: 22.69g Distance since last regeneration: 11658m Time since last regeneration: 1120s i assume that is not ideal… History wise: it has had 2 brake fluid changes, 2 out of the 3 DSG services (75k and last this year at 120k) timing belt in late 2020 at 100k no notes of previous issues of this nature. no notes of oil being bought outside of service time ( I have all records from the last few years down to odds and ends bought on eBay for the car. so I’m pretty sure this is not a known long term fault from the PO.
  35. Someone has almost certainly messed with various settings... Post a full autoscan and adaption map from 09.
  36. Bought new ones. Original ones available in the Challenge package.

The energy going into the battery may not be used for driving though, vehicle-2-home, vehicle-2-load. This method relies on the charger able to communicate to a central tax accounting server. Not all chargers are "smart". That is going to require many £1000 re-install of a perfectly working "dumb" charger or £650 repair bill whenever the optional "smart" feature fails (my podpoint quote to fix wifi module in my charger) Unless government is going to foot that bill like household smart meters, I can't see this will ever work as source of tax accounting. Also, in-line dumb chargers are wide spread and can still be bought now. The Tesla one can be connected up to 32 amp 1 phase or 3 phase unmetered "dumb" commando to charge at full speed. Mandatory meter commando sockets? it's a sledge hammer to a trivial problem. This would be per-mile cost instead of tax at point of energy dispense. I think this is most probable. But I'm not sure it will be through OEM equipment on older cars due to complete lack of accurate counting on all cars. How is OEM counting going to work for my Nissan Leaf that I can disable telemetric and hide certain trips from telemetrics?

    A full refund plus interest!
  40. Less than 30mins after collection. 11 month wait but finally worth it.
  41. Winter mode 🤪 Washed, polished, waxed and winter wheels mounted.
  42. 2019 Sportline - our practical family car. Few little tweaks including APR ECU and TCU tune. Pictured with my not so sensible car.
  43. The really positive thing about this issue is that you get a brand new steering wheel! Lovely - all matt and leathery again.
  44. Can't beat a 2.0 Fabia though.
  45. I went for Audi S5 alloys with 10mm hubcentric eibach spacers despite almost everyone saying they wouldn't fit. I bought longer wheel bolts just to be on the safe side.
  46. Fantastic, please can you share a photo of what you did? Thank you!
  47. See the below …. The left disc is a solid one, which sounds like you need, but the one on the right is a vented disc, which won’t fit your brake system … ignore all the word and prices, just look at the actual discs shown 😛
