  1. We now have rear kessy handles working as well as fully working rear door warning lamps!
  2. 13 hours yesterday:washing ,decontaminating,polishing and is not ready yet.Needs sealeant
  3. My model does not have an oil pressure light on the speedo/rev counter. I has a central Multi Function Display and this indicates low oil pressure if necessary. The manual reads: The warning light on vehicles fitted with information display does not come on after switching the ignition on, but only if a fault exists or the engine oil level is too low.
  4. Do you know that the rims have radius seats for the wheel bolts, rather than taper seats? Type of bolt needs to match seat type.
  5. Some movement. The App on my phone showed the Charge & range for the car this morning at 8.45 so it had been turned on and then at 3.15. I missed a call but got a voice main that they have looked at the car and ordered parts and will be in touch when they are fitted.
  6. I think they're fobbing you off precisely because you're not an idiot. Most mechanics are inherently lazy, it's in their nature to expect to be paid whether they fix anything or not, they don't fancy anything that sounds like a big job because most of them aren't any good.
  7. Well, mine was restarting every day while driving only in Madrid. However, after I went for software update related to TA failures, infotainment became stable as well and hadn't rebooted once.

Carbon coating the valves and intake is down to EGR, its common for direct injection engines to coke up in the valves and intake. A good fuel will help, but it won't stop it. . Being direct injection means there's no fuel flowing in over the valves to help "wash" them.
  16. Understood, will search for some in my area to look at it. Thanks a lot for your help, appreciate your time guys.
  17. Thanks for your reply. This is exactly what I’m looking for. I’ll try and find one online somewhere. Cheers.
  18. That seems like it's lost it's FeC/SWaP codes for some reason. If the nav code is missing, that would also explain why the maps aren't working even with the latest download... I expect you'll need to take it to a dealer or good independent garage with ODIS online access to reactivate the codes - sorry 😞
  19. On exFAT at allocation unit size 8192b i was able to get closest, 6,66MB left to fit it on. I've tried all others, but this one is closest of them all. I could potentially try to get another SD-card, but you can't really tell it's exact size, until you stick it in to your PC. Also, I could potentially try to delete language files, but I'm quite unsure, which file is that.
  20. 225? There's also the 210 (ish) which was in earlier Audi S3s and Leon Cupra Rs before they went to the 225 engine. There was also the special edition mk1 TT which had 240bhp. Probably some other variants around as well... Anyway, I think it will be prohibitively expensive to turbocharge your current engine. You'd be better off either fitting a 1.8T engine and modifying/tuning it to your power requirements or just buying another car that already has the power you're after.
  21. You can check by looking at your 'Owner's Manual', if you don't have the printed paper version you can download some pdf (free) copies from SEAT (same as you can from Skoda). The SEAT site only shows 2011 Leon as 5D, I've no idea if this is correct for your model, or Copas generally, but here's the link anyway. -https://www.seat.co.uk/owners/your-seat/manuals-offline With the appropriate 'Owner's Manual' by reading it and referring to it you can sometimes know more about your model than many long term owners, and some at garages. Your model might be different - but the online 2011 (07/1) 5D manual, page 77, shows the engine oil pressure warning lights as just to the left of centre of the speedo (needle) (item 17). - From page 78. - Page 87 gives details of the various warnings and what they mean. -

Just to give you a heads up, they will most likely get you to use their "partner garages" for getting the work done. These are typically any Halfords Auto Centre, or Kwikfit branch. I had to fight to get my battery replaced and coded properly at the Skoda dealer. But do push them! If you need them to authorise work, email them the details and proof/invoice and then call them immediately after to push it through. As mentioned before, if you are getting nowhere with their 1st line support, ask to speak to the service desk manager. Ring them early in the day as well so you can call back later in the day and chase. Bit hard to do when you ring them at 12/1PM and then chase again a couple hours later. Keep us posted!
  23. It looks like Alfred has aftermarket alloy rims. If so, then aftermarket alloy rims usually have cone shaped seats. So those Eibach S1-6-14-50-37-17 wheel bolts won't fit the aftermarket alloy rims correctly. Aftermarket alloy rims often have a bigger centre bore than 57.1mm, therefore requiring a spigot to be used to centre the rim correctly on the hub. Ball shaped seats = spherical seats = sphere shaped seats Cone shaped seats = conical seats = taper seats So slightly different descriptions for the same thing.
  24. May be anti-pinch system need to be reset ?
  25. The loom looks good, but there are a few earth ring connections to bolts just behind the left headlamp which were in a terrible condition. A bit of wire wool & a broken sharp screwdriver blade, some Vaseline, all connected back up again & all faults are cleared, no alarms. I'm so happy I'll treat the rust on the doors soon.
  26. Not sure how a mechanic can say definitely little end noise. Little end being the piston/conrod connection. Before scrapping, attempting a stripdown, or fitting a recon engine you should try to establish if the engine is working at the correct oil pressue and flow. If oil pressure is low you will get big end knocking. So, does the red oil warning light (pressure) light up when ignition is first turned on before starting the engine. Does the light go out promptly when the engine has started? During the initial start do you get a rattle/machine gun sound for a short while? (Loose camchain, tensioner not extended due to low pressure). May be extended if pressure is constantly too low. For the sake of around £50 or so and 15 mins DIY I would buy a genuine Filter from a reputable source (not EBay or Amazon) e.g. Mann W712/94 VAG 03C 115 561 H Mahle OC 593/3 Change the oil and filter (3.6 - 3.9 litres vw spec 504.00 or 502.01 oil required) To eliminate possibility of blocked/faulty/counterfeit chinese filter (counterfeits are more common than most people realise)
  27. Have just changed from no spare wheel to FULL size…/. Removed the 17” and fitted aftermarket 16” with 225/60x16 …. Spare is one of the removed 17” …. Getting the kit proved frustrating as no appeared to know that there are 3 different options as to how one might fix a puncture… Also one might debate the car looks so much better …. And feel confident on dirt roads ..
  28. I have already contacted the Skoda Digital team, sent them details like the Vin and photos of the TMC screen and am waiting for a reply. I guess the more that complain the better.
  29. U don't need to have the DCC recalibrated. It improves the ride if u do it, otherwise everything will continue to work, just won't b optimum. I didn't get mine recalibrated until 6 months after I had the springs put in. It takes 2 secs to actual recalibrated. U just need OBDEleven, and 4x jack stands.
  30. Love the look of this car with the Eibach drop on it. I don't have the confidence to change my springs because I seem to remember you saying you needed to have the DCC recalibrated?
  31. In Spain, several persons that live or passed by near the France border, reported this issue of the infotainment restarting continuously. It turns out that disabling the logos of FM radio stations "fixed" the problem. Supposedly there is some issue with the logo of one or more French radio stations. Hope it helps for some of you!
  32. If they faked the CID - Card ID for Skoda/SEAT/VW then the system won't know and it will pass "security" and load.

Nice one, hope you enjoy the car mate! Fingers crossed nothing sinister rears its head on the inspection. Do let us know if they find anything and get written copies so you can go back to Cazoo if need be. Hopefully nothing to serious, but would be curious.
  35. Diavia might have used this housing later on, who knows, these systems were extremely varied 😃 On Czech web, they were always referred to as Diavia, with one exception, which has eventually shown to be correct. For reference, the original Diavia housing looks like this However, at this point I'd maybe try to make a housing for the original fan to keep the original evaporator box, It has one advantage - space for filter. Although it's not the greatest solution, having filter behind the evaporator, it's better than no filter at all.

  37. Not an affluent area round here so quite old, probably averaging somewhere about 10-15years old, but I think I won "oldest collection" I had two cars with a combined age of 61
  38. Interesting you say that! SInce I've had the 280 I seem to be forever topping up the washer bottle when I'm sure I only did it a couple of times a year in my Octy II 4x4. Its also good to know all 280s have a DSG cooler as I tow regularly. I'd read about them but wasn't sure if I'd have one as my 280 had an aftermarket towbar fitted and didn't have factory prep. God news the replacement rad isnt too expensive in the grand scheme of things.
  39. My Combi lost the ability to lift the tailgate just a day before the MOT (it sailed through). My mechanic was quoted just shy of £600 for a pair of powered lifters, or £130 for manual ones. I sourced a new pair from ebay for £215 (I offered vs £230) they arrived inside a week (FOC delivery via Evri and arrived on time) Fitting took me just under half an hour, armed with a tiny screwdriver, and a blunt chisel to pry the plastics. Hopefully that's another few years of service 🌞
  40. It doesn't sound anything like a bottom end noise, get the biggest screwdriver you have, put the tip against the cambox and your ear to the handle, then listen in different places to see if the sound gets louder or quieter until you've narrowed down the location.
  41. "Ghetto" solution...I used server fans and made a slim profile "fan". I used server fans because they are high RPM, they move a lot of air and they are great for static pressure. The original Favorit "dual blower fan" would not fit and the original single blower fan also would not fit. It would be the best if I could get the Diavia AC fan assembly. I will use original wiring, but instead of resistor pack I will use Arduino Nano with a code to get regulated speed (5, 7, 9 and 12V) Yes, the whole subframe is from Felicia 1.6 and I am using the factory anti-roll bar.
  42. As I remembered it you used a coolant additive to a more-diluted coolant mixture but I might have remembered wrong. If I remember correctly you have experimented with the engine air intake and air filter and an electronics remap or similar, different sized wheels(?) and or tyres(?) and other things I forget, taking the car away from factory standard but it is your car so you can do or not do whatever you want with it. The box for the TRW brake cylinder did not look as if a fake to me but I could well be wrong as I have never seen a genuine box for the item but it was, as far as I could ascertain, genuine TRW master cylinders that were faulty that I referred to earlier, they do not need to be fake to possibly have ****-poor rubbish rubber seals - perhaps even the fake ones might have better seals but I have not heard of fake TRW parts, they may or make not exist it is just that I have not heard of them. With the major and even smaller "classic" parts suppliers (smaller often get their parts from the major supplier anyway) in the UK you can ask how many units they have sold in say a year and how many returns they have had for that part but this is not always a particularly good measure as often if a (smaller) part is faulty they will tell their customer to keep that part and send them another free of cost. These second (or more) "free" parts sent to the customer will have been costed into the selling price of the part and allowed for in their purchase from their suppliers. They often buy very cheap so expect lower quality and returns from that. Some suppliers offer the same parts as cheap and nasty or higher quality at higher price (not always a big price increase either) but they will sell many multiplies of the lower priced cheap and nasty part than the higher quality part. I bought what was supposed to be a good quality reproduction radiator (only 6 returned in a couple of years) and it had the wrong thread for the fixings and I had to clean up the thread for the (lower quality) filler plug, then after finding the fixings in my shed to match the wrong ones on the rad I found one was out of line so was not a good line up for the bracket so I asked for a swap. The next one had the correct fixing threads and lined up (filler plug thread still needed sorting but after it was in for about 18 months the shallow solder spots on one side gave up and the top came apart at that point. Luckily it was only a top trim and the rad is removed with its cowling housing so this was just an annoyance rather than an issue, unless the cowling had to be replaced. Just one (well two really) incidence with parts quality of very, very, very many.
  43. A nonsense reply from the dealer tbh - the TMC system doesn't use satellites!

  45. On the assumption you want to stick with the large 19 inch rims. Will try and explain what to do in informative way. 1) As already mentioned check pressures, if there are 3 quoted (see label on door frame or inside fuel cap) use the lowest, not the Eco value, or heavily loaded value. The higher pressures make tyres firmer (thus rougher riding on poor quality tarmac which seems to have become common in parts of UK). 2) Turanza is Bridgestones more touring biased tyre, these are going to be softer than anything Sporty (which Bridgestone call Potenza) or Eco biased (which reduce fuel consumption by being fairly hard, firm is effectively opposite of comfort). So you already have a softer tyre, but clearly you or your wife wants even more softness. So when you come to change the tyres avoid anything sport or Eco biased. 3) Temperature, majority of people forget about this, basic physics will tell you rubber gets hard when cold and is more soft and squidgy when warmer. Modern tyres are made of compounds, and have other materials in the mix eg silica. The more elaborate compounds can widen ideal tyre operating temperature range. Cheaper tyres can't afford to use expensive compounds so will never be as good outside ideal temperature range. Also simpler compounds won't be as good as wear resistance (there is trade off between soft enough to be grippy, but firm enough not to wear quickly) 4) Seasonality. The tyres you have are officially summer tyres, there are rumours in recent years have been formulated to do well in WLTP emissions test (which I think are done about +23c). You don't have to be a genius to know this is well above UK average (the long term temperature you get in a cave in UK is nearer +12c so in blunt terms, although the factory fit summer tyres to new cars to suit the test, they don't suit UK climate (or more strictly only really suit UK weather from about April to mid November) 5) In last few year just about every major tyre manufacturer, have introduced all season (all year) tyres, these tend to have ideal temperature of -5c to about +25c (will still work with diminishing effectiveness outside this range). So are ideal for UK climate. Modern summer tyres (since WLTP testing) often have marked fall off in wet grip below about +10c (because they become harder in cold, as above). Big problem as rain in UK is often cold (and UK rain is normally below +10c for around 8 months a year, because clouds are cold at thousands of feet up. Putting all this together, if you pick a summer tyre, will be rubbish in cold rain, and very hard in colder weather, so unsuitable if finding tyre too firm. So pick an all season tyre, and try and get one that is less summer biased as will be bit softer (and still be soft colder months). Note that most all season tyres are directional, (will have 2 for left and 2 for right, same tyre, but they are mounted opposite way on the rim, can swap them front-back, but not change sides). I would suggest swapping them front-back around 11-14k miles (I think this is actually recommended in the handbook, not that many actually read it), will even out your tyre wear. One final piece of advice, all season tyre prices tend to jump around mid-late September, when everyone remembers weather is about to get cooler, and demand booms. So order them before price rise time (even if fitting few weeks later). Stick a reminder on your calendar for early September now.
