  1. 1st thing to do after you've pulled over somewhere you can stop safely is check that all the oil is still in the engine, using the dipstick. 2nd thing is to undo the connector from the oil pressure switch and see if it looks like this: If you don't know where the oil pressure switch is on your engine, it's probably not a bad idea to find it, ahead of need. Typically the only sensor connection with a single wire. There's a diaphragm within these pressure switches, which is how it converts the pressure into mechanical movement and operates the electrical switch. When the diaphragm fails, the oil leaks through into the electrical switch part and on out to the inside of the electrical connector. I could see there was moistness where there should have been dryness before even unplugging the connector, but a steady dribble of oil after doing so. So much better than any other scenario that could have been behind these warnings. Cheap, quick fix with replacement switch.
  2. 100% agree with you. I do not want to go back to Tom Tom or similar and do not even own a smart phone.
  3. Absolutely spot on Nigel. Many of us with RDS-TMC don't have the option of switching to Smartlink or Audi Connect etc as the MMI's do not support it. I do not want to go back to Tom Tom or similar and do not own a smart phone so the RDS-TMC was very useful for me especially on long trips.
  4. Each to their own, but for me the inbuilt sat nav has a number of advantages, including: - traffic info without the need for a data connection - no issues downloading map data because it's all there on the SD card - works anywhere in UK and abroad, even in low mobile signal areas - car GPS is more reliable than mobile GPS, particularly when amongst tall buildings in the city - doesn't have a panic attack in long tunnels with no mobile signal or GPS - integration with driver's display screen behind steering wheel - free map updates from Skoda... ok phone map apps have this too but some with quite questionable accuracy because they rely on users to update them
  5. So, I've dropped an email to the Skoda MD maybe a few more along this theme in his inbox will get some attention: Dear Mr Bowden, I am writing to you as myself and pretty much every owner of a Skoda(and other VAG vehicles) have been hit with an issue wherein the TMC function within the built-in sattelite navigaion has ceased to function. Despite numerous approaches via Skoda Customer Services we seem to be no closer to getting an official response regarding this. In fact the stock answer from Customer Services is to take the vehicle into a dealership for diagnosis, despite this being an external issue (in fact my local Skoda dealership checked and are also affected, including their own personal vehicles and have confirmed there is nothing they can do). The issue appears to be that Trafficmaster, who provided the servers to VAG and also Honda, Chrysler, Fiat and Vauxhall, stopped transmitting RDS-TMC data in the UK (in their words, as it was unsupported). This has effectively cripped the Dynamic Routing function of the in-built sattelite navigation as the system is no longer able to pick up information on potential traffic issues on the route selected. This in turn will result in more vehicles stuck in traffic and the subsequent knock-on effect to the environment. The other RDS-TMS supplier in the UK (INRIX) have confirmed they are still transmitting data but it appears that there would have to be some kind of firmware/map update to allow Skoda vehicles to use this (and, one would assume a licence agreement between Skoda and INRIX). I would appreciate it if you could arrange for someone to provide a definitive statement on what is going to be done to resolve this issue for what will be be affecting tens of thousands of Skoda users currently. For information, my particular vehicle is a Skoda Superb SE Business, Registration ********. But I would encourage you to review the BriSkoda forum online, specifically the following thread: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/512443-tmc-traffic-events-no-longer-being-receivedfirmware-update-required/page/8/ Yours Sincerely,
  6. I think maybe a fault has been for us to try and come up with a solution, it is Skoda's responsibility, they took our money for the equipment and it should work. If there is a very good reason for it stopping working they should have informed us in advance with an apology and a discussion about alternatives so that we could still receive a service. I wonder how many traffic jams have been made worse and how much extra pollution caused by VAG cars?
  7. I'd have said ours range mostly between two and six years old. Any local average would be skewed by a 1937 Ford Tudor and near perfect 1997 Starlet. Gaz
  8. Sent this to Audi this morning. Will post any response I get. Dear Mr Panagiotis. I realise that my issue is not a digital one and that Audi do not own the TMC system. Audi do/did pay for use of this system but it seems that the supplier of the system has now changed. The current supplier INRIX say that their system has been checked and is working just fine sending all the information the previous system did and that the problem lies with receivers in the cars. There are several discussions on internet forums about this problem and it seems that the previous system was funded by the motor manufacturers using it with collective lifetime licences for their cars. These included VAG group along with Honda and others. I do not know if these licenses have been renewed with INRIX but I do know that my car and many others no longer receive the RDS-TMC information they send over Classic FM etc. This could be due to different location tables being used that the head units do not recognise and maybe new Firmware or maps could be needed that work with these tables. Now I understand that your department may not directly deal with these issues but surely someone at VAG must know what is going on and I would ask that you forward this information to them. It is pointless taking my car for a diagnostic check because several other owners of VAG cars have done so only to be told there are no faults and the dealers do not know how to fix the problem. I have included the links to a couple of the forums below so that you can see for yourselves the frustration that the lack of RDS-TMC is causing at the moment. www.reddit.com/r/CarTalkUK/comments/132nuvb/tmc_traffic_message_channel_completely_stopped/ www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/512443-tmc-traffic-events-no-longer-being-receivedfirmware-update-required/ Kind regards - Neil.

Finally some good news, if I can trust them. E-Tec sedan ordered 12/21 had unconfirmed build week 15, but heard nothing since monday, then I got a mail from my dealer. Saying that confirmed build week is week 20 (next week). If so, I might get my car by the end on june.
  11. I paid for a car with integrated satnav because it featured RDS-TMC, easy to update maps from the web etc etc. I didn't feel the need to enable SmartLink for £100-£150 to use Android Auto on my Skoda I was happy with what I paid for, I don't even have data on my phone! I use Android Auto on my wife's Toyota with offline Google maps and the number of times it looses the "blue" navigation line and needs a complete reinstall makes me realise what I had up to the start of March 2023 worked very well. If Skoda won't get it working again will they enable SmartLink for free? I am not a luddite but an ex IT security consultant who developed many Corporate WI-FI based systems over the years.
  12. Just fitted the AA wireless adapter to my 2016 Superb mk3. Nice and easy and works a treat. Also fitted a wireless charger in the armrest cubby hole to charge my pixel 6 pro.

Relevance to a specific question about "who supplies the warranty"? I think "none".

They are just like Arnold Clark when Sir Arnold was alive and since he passed on. Turn loads and loads of them around and if lots are crap then no matter people keep buying and putting up with their nonsense. Some even come back for 2nds and 3rds. They can not be that bad if they sponsor snooker and charities and much else.
  15. I know its me being pedantic but copper based anti seize is conductive and actually can cause corrosion between different materials. It was perfectly fine on old cars where everything was steel or iron and the voltage differential wasnt much. Whereas on steel to alloy/aluminum there is a much larger voltage difference causing more corrosion. Instead a isolating anti seize should be used such as a ceramic or ptfe paste based one as these handle high temperatures also for glow plugs and such. I recommend Febi 26712 as a tiny amount goes a very very long way. See below for a chart showing what materials can cause more corrosion - the further from 0 the number (voltage), the more electrons flow and the more corrosion that occurs.
  16. Maybe of interest to those with remaps and using 97 min or 99 min E5 in the UK from the various petrol retailers with E5..
  17. It would of been good if he just said the date he collected the fuels, hardly that hard, he just needed to say. It is quite important when he did the tests and got the E10 from filling stations because from in the UK from late October to November Winter Formulation was delivered until the end March and even later sometimes. So less Hygroscopic so possibly less Bio Ethanol was in it, and then around the UK it can vary. But he does say that kind of. Maybe he actually knows more but just kept it simple for the reason that KISS works for many. As is the case with E5 in the UK, Summer & Winter formulation and even in summer the Bio content car vary.
  18. I have just found this chap who normally posts vids of the history of different Motorways, but occasionally posts about other things. He has just posted this vid about the true Ethanol content if E10 fuels. The results are surprising.
  19. At least it's phone problem, not a car. 😁
  20. Excellent summary, hopefully will get some traction. I have just resumed my attempts to get through to Skoda UK so will see how far I get from the other end, so to speak.
  21. Pin number at BCM black 73-way connector is 38 for the heated mirror outputs, both sides, black/red wire that goes to the right (UK) driver's side one, black wire going to UK pass side. The output to the "Output for warning light for SAFE function of central locking" is on pin 58 of same BCM connector, a white/violet wire. Interestingly... They go through the 28-way at the right A-pillar on adjacent pins, 13 and 14. I wonder if you've got a bent pin in there or some moisture ingress shorting the two pins together? Can be hard to see, but a phone camera on 'macro' can probably get a good shot with female connector removed.

I actually think the theory behind Cazoo's model is pretty sound. Granted, it won't suit everyone as a car buying method but it will, and clearly does suit a lot of people. They are just getting the practice wrong, certainly in my experience anyway. It strikes me that they are ploughing way too many funds into advertising and sponsoring sporting teams and events when those funds would be much better spent actually making sure they do their 300 point checks, servicing vehicles and prepping them properly. They seem to be over promising and under delivering.
  23. actually only the one solution (switch to INRIX) as Trafficmaster have terminated their transmissions and I somehow doubt they will reinstate the service. Makes me wonder what kind of contract they had with the manufacturers they were transmitting to, VAG MUST be aware of it at some level as there would have been some kind of termination.
  24. I can empathise how frustrating this is - I've had similar issues trying to escalate the issue with Skoda. No one wants to know, it's always someone else's problem.
  25. Excellent mail, but the problems not with INRIX. There are (or were up until a month or so ago) 2 separate and competing TMC service providers in the UK. Trafficmaster, who broadcast on Capital, Heart etc, and INRIX who broadcast on Classic FM. INRIX is indeed continuing to broadcast and functions perfectly normally for receivers that have a licence to use their service. Unfortunately it seems most (maybe all) VAG systems are licenced only to use Trafficmaster broadcasts. Trafficmaster appear to have decided that they no longer wish to provide a service on FM.
  26. If you retrofit the lights it only works by unlock te car and nog locking
  27. Could be the lower boost hose blown off.
  28. There will be those along that can help with those codes, @varooom@Crasher@ApertureSor A.N.Other. ? Is it recovered to a main dealers? Was it the AA person that mentioned hundreds? & what does the master tech say @ a main dealership / authorised repairer say, does he / she say it needs a new MCU, are they saying an issue they will support you with in getting Skoda / VW involved to inspect your car. Accuator repair kit, new MCU or whatever.
  29. That does sound like an odd one! I'll see what I can dig up for you this afternoon.
  30. @Breezy_Pete Thanks I have checked the wiring and have fitted a new door wiring harness (D/S) previously (4 months) and it didn't cure the issue, when I replace fuse for the heated mirrors they work correctly but the alarm indicating LED in the D/S Door is constantly on regardless of alarm / lock state, I'm starting to think its the BCM or some crossed wire / ground hence the request for wiring / pin out details, its a strange one I've also tested the P/S door harness, connectors and both door secondary harnesses etc to no avail
  31. This seems to be the standard reply from VAG group. The Digital Support Team will now tell you they do not deal with RDS-TMC because it is not digital and refer you to a main dealer for an unnecessary and expensive diagnostic check which will reveal that their are no faults and that they do not know how to fix the problem.😡
  32. Mike Brewer is only a minor niche celebrity he would be unknown to more 99.9999999% of people. Like you, I and absolutely everyone in the whole world he is a mere mortal. I have never understood any type of hero worship or celebrity, if you want to celebrate anyone then it should be doctors, nurses, firefighters, police, care workers and essential workers as they are the people you really need in life, Entertainers are good but not of much use in real crisis. It was Ed China and Ant Anstead (now still 'Elvis'?) that done the mechanics and one of the reason's Ed China left was because the mechanical side was getting less and less for more entertainment. Give how long the show is it cannot show you much, just doing one job on a vehicle might take hours without the requirements of filming. Lots of work is done off camera it would always have to be that way. Ed China although very tall is very down to earth, when not performing at a show he just walks about like a mere mortal, unlike some others, than Richard Hammond really fancies himself and thinks he is a lot more than he really is and as for Jeremy Clarkson when you see him you realise they can stack **** that high, he really is loathsome full of self-importance and feels very self-entitled, good entertainer but like us all with flaws as a person just that he seems to really embrace some of his flaws, he is one of these celebrities/ "heroes" that asks for some sort of (generous) payment to do 'free' work for charity, but then many do.
  33. It could also be that the mécano sprayed some copper anti-sieze compound on the bub spigot to protect it from the galvanic corrosion and now it is migrating outwards by centrifugal force. On reflection that is the most likely cause.
  34. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/511788-skoda-recall-in-israel People should not have to check for RECALLS. Registered Keepers are supposed to be contacted by the Manufacturers Representatives to Alert them the vehicle has been RECALLED for checks or actions. Skoda / VW Group are pretty poor on RECALL ACTIONS, SERVICE CAMPAIGNS or WORKSHOP ACTIONS and you have to maybe read on line, in forums etc or Check. SAFETY CRITICAL RECALLS are for them to make people aware of even if you never visit a Main Dealership or the vehicle does not. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions The Airbag recalls started back about 2002 in some world regions for some manufacturers (Honda) and VW Group are eventually getting around to giving some thought to where they might act. As it is they would be out of business if they actually did every safety recall on every vehicle they had sold that have Recalls outstanding, airbags or many other things. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/511789-skoda-recall-fyi For the 2001 Fabia recall they said 17 affected vehicles. As to the latest, best check your cars VIN, or for this one called in 2019, 393 vehicles.
  35. Picking up my karoq next week Monday can’t wait. I previously had an Enyaq on order but just couldn’t justify the premium of EVs right now. looking forwards to the £500 Mastercard as well
  36. Please see Colin’s post above about the forum language being English. I will repeat the comment that posts need to be made in English and ask that you do. Threads which do not follow the forum guidelines risk being locked or removed without warning.
  37. The plate is usually on the base of the b pillar in the drivers door jamb.
  38. Wrong... It's illegal to hold and use a phone, sat nav, tablet, or any device that can send or receive data, while driving or riding a motorcycle. This means you must not use a device in your hand for any reason, whether online or offline. For example, you must not text, make calls, take photos or videos, or browse the web. That is not the same as being illegal to touch a phone... If the phone is in a holder and not ha d held then it is legal, although you can still be prosecuted for driving without due care and attention if appropriate.
  39. Highway doesn't sound too far off the mark. Depends how stop start the city driving is. Check / change obvious causes like air filter, plugs . Check for binding brakes. Beyond that, driving style!
  40. Got one after getting my car, updated the lane assist, and enabled standard cruise control, and have not used it since. That was over a year ago.
  41. If all you want to do is scan for fault codes, then just buy a compatible one and download the appropriate app. But if you want to scan for faults and tweak things then OBD11 is the cheapest route otherwise you'll be looking at a laptop and VCDS which is serious kit. Just be warned that you may get accused of tinkering by your dealership if you do something wrong, like I was.
  42. Like the colour, pity I couldn't specify all leather seats.
  43. Not quite sure the relevance of this to the OP's question ( the answer of which I haven't a clue but my logic says it's a co-incidence ). But you haven't said why you don't rely on Auto lamps? I've never found them to be a problem, in fact I think they should be std on every car and then it's up to the driver if they want to override them. Does any one else get really annoyed at drivers who forget to turn on their lights? The problem seems to be that regardless of the switch position, the instrument lighting is always on so they think their front lights are on. By the way, when you say things like in winter the switch lives in the ON position and in Summer it's either on/off - what's the difference between driving at 1pm whenther it be summer or winter? And ithe switch can't live in the position because there's no such thing as an ON position - you either have sidelights or headlights - so you manually have to switch between both - unless you drive with your headlights on during daylight? We can always tell the cars with manual lights because at 11pm at night anytime of the year, we seen many cars driving with either their sidelights or off all together ( including rear lights ! ) Everytime I'm out at night I see at least one car with no lights on. There's not a single car on the road with AUTO lights that happens to - unless of course the system is broken. I think Auto lights are a really good safety feature and if they were to accommodate local laws such as those in Holland as the OP asks, then all the better. Just my opinion.
  44. Ever wished you'd not started a thread ??
  45. Thanks for suggestions , after ringing 30 auto locksmiths all but one said main dealer only as software too new . As mentioned tried Kens , but eventually even he said , its just too new to get the software for the keyless ignition.
  46. Hi, My update was for a module dont know which, still on 1896 but Travel and Trafic Assists warnings are now gone. My workshop was informed by Skoda tech that there was no more need of changing the steering wheel.
  47. Bit of an old thread but the information is still relevant and helped he today to find the sensor. I couldn't get one today so I just cleaned the plug / socket with contact cleaner and put it back in. Ran VCDS again, cleared the fault and it didn't come back (yet). This started off as a weird problem, driving along put the car into Sport. foot down, engine temperature went to the top, 2 minute later back to the middle. Next happened again. Last night air wouldn't come out of the middle dash vents, with the sensor working the vents are open again. Things are over engineered sometimes, years ago I had an old VW camper van, For fresh air a level open a flap at the front... For reference have a 2019 Superb Sportline +.
  48. Two wet weeks on and I’m delighted with the Michelins. Significantly more grip than OE and better ride too. Very happy customer
  49. Highly likely to be the suspension level sensor (front or rear) in my limited experience. Quite easy to replace and you can get relatively cheap versions from ebay etc. But if under warranty, get them to do it obviously! The message is confusing because it implies it’s something to do with the cornering function. But it isn’t! The give away is it going to the fallback mode of pointing at the ground, because it doesn’t know how high to aim the lights.
