  1. Best go and get a alignment check done by a professional and another's eyes cast over the car, springs, dampers and steering. You want to know everything is as it should be before doing any modifications / upgrades.
  2. Can you thrifty Scots stop rubbing it in, he's paid the bill now and knows he got raped, no more input needed. I'm sure the work has been performed to a very high standard using top quality parts.
  3. Skoda Headquarters came back - they said it needs a specific software version / update. So will be going to the Skoda dealer tomorrow, let's see how that goes!
  4. I love the Renault Dacia brands and the value is ace. The current Etechs are a bit weak with their 1.6 naturally aspirated engine but tonight I will try the new Austral with the turbo engine and meaty etech system that can provide over 60 mpg, 600 mile range and 8s standing quarter which no EV can currently provide but probably will in two or three year time when EVs will be superior to ICE in all respects. With the UK not subsidising EVs the EVe are pricey but also buying or PCPing an EV might be expensive as EV prices are tumbling due to incoming much cheaper batteries coming on stream. I would not pay over £40k for a Megane E when I can pay less than £35k for an Austral. Most European car makers could be out of business by the end of the decade decade and the Japanese too on present course of debt and offering.
  5. By default, if the power consumption is too high, then Start Stop will not kick in. They've lowered the Start Stop trigger point, hence it will always think the power consumption is high, and never allow the start stop to kick in. More importantly - did they perform the battery adaptation after changing it?
  6. this shows the install in the Superb under the armrest, and the power connection at the rear power outlet.
  7. Am I the only person in the world that doesn't want to drink from a cup while he drives his vehicle? I drove 600 miles today, 14 hours door to door and stopped for 3 coffee breaks, the coffee drunk with a snack sitting at a table. I bet rare breed grumpy monster cup OH drives less than 5 miles with her drink 🤣 At one coffee stop I watched bemused as a young mother with baby in some freakish moon buggy like contraption spent 15 minutes to extracting her child from the contraption, install him/her in the child seat, then collapsing the contraption to load it in the boot, they will have spent the same time getting out so 30 minutes plus whatever they did in the services which was no more than 10 paces from her vehicle parked in the space allocated for the purpose. They must spend an hour doing the same for a 5 minute drive to the shops and back. As a child I was either carried on my mothers hip or my fathers shoulders and dumped in the external dicky seat of their Morris 8 Tourer, my elder sisters had the rear seat inside the cabin, no seat belts so it would have taken all of 10 seconds to load me!

Well, all sorted. Pipe from turbo had come off, forced air had nowhere to go but into atmosphere, so sensors put engine into limp mode. Dealer refitted hose, cleared fault codes and test drove - all good. Best part - no charge!😀 Can’t beat Rainworth Skoda in Mansfield.
  9. I've had c. 18 months of poor health; nothing that has proven to be critical or terminal so far but seriously debilitating. The weekend before last, I finally felt up attempting a short ride after almost 2 years off the bikes. Both my GS and X-Country have been fettled by a local BMW specialist and taken for MOT tests by my son, during this hiatus on my part. I decided to ease myself back into it by taking the X-Country out on some local backroads. I got all of 7 miles away from home when the red temperature warning light came on and the bike dumped all its coolant over my left leg and boot. A spring steel hose clip had failed and the hose between the radiator and engine had become detached. I was glad I'd worn my leather breeks and my Sidi Adventure boots when I could so easily have been out in motorcycle jeans and short boots. I was on my way to visit a friend whose birthday it was with a bottle of wine for him in my tank bag. I phoned him and he came out to rescue me in his old Saab 9000. He took me home, we picked up the Yeti and bike trailer and recovered the bike which has been sitting in the garage unloved ever since.
  10. Oh my mistake I did the B and C only on the passenger side as the drivers side is fine. I’ll be doing it again as some point as I did miss some bits, how long it’ll last I’m not sure. All I done was a few drops of the ultimate compound on a micro fibre cloth and scrub, but the plastic was boiling today and kept burning my hand almost. I’ll do the rest of the rails at some point too
  11. Yes there is a setting for it. I cannot remember if it is the Sat Nav Settings or Media Setting (only had my Karoq less than a week) but there are options to lower the media volume during Sat Nav announcements.
  12. I've just undertaken a journey today which should have taken an hour and a half (according to my sat nav) but actually took two and a quarter. As TMC isn't operational none of the hold-ups registered on the sat nav so obviously no attempt to reroute. Can't see how TMC is "obsolete" as this was the sat nav built into a Skoda which is just 4 years old. The point has been made that this can only increase congestion and pollution. This has cost me more in fuel than it needed to. I will be pushing again both with my local dealership and also with Skoda UK. Customers services have shown no interest in escalating the problem so I will have to do this myself.
  13. @Carlston Also got curious about the options codes. These were the codes for the suspension: G04 = Front shock absorption L26 = Suspension range 26 installation control only, no requirement forecast
  14. @Carlston he just wants aftermarket info for the springs for which he's given the original part number as 6Q0 411 105 AQ. Why the third degree about engine and CO2?
  15. I bought my accident damaged 2015 2.0 TDi Outdoor in 2020 for £3200 with 79K on the clock. It cost £800 to repair to an acceptable condition, it will never be a class 1 car and it takes a lot of abuse, minor bodywork damage mostly just touched up and compounded, 3 x dashboard & steering wheel airbags deployed plus seatbelt pretensioners, reconditioned dashboard fitted which has invisible repair where ruptured by airbag. It has now done 125K miles, has never let me down and gives excellent fuel economy for a flat fronted brick with 4wd, I no longer hear or notice any regens after having the emissions fix rolled back. At the time it did not seem a great deal after I had finished the work, the 2 Yetis that Blackbird bought bear that out but it was a fraction of the cost of one in France. I cannot believe how much they have gone up in price since then, its academic to me but I dont feel so bad now about how much I spent. Also if I was not bored and surfing for a project I would never have owned a Yeti and not realised what a great vehicle they are.
  16. All depends on how much youre paying for the car, where you are getting it from, and the rest of the cars condition. If i was buying approved used for a premium price id expect this to be sorted. Even if they dont sort it, there is 0 harm in trying, worst they say is no
  17. A service is just an excuse to hold the car to ransom while they practice their creativity with "brakes 90% worn" etc.
  18. When the playlist operates correctly, every time you start the engine, the palylist starts from the song that was playing when you stopped.
  19. I would flag this up to the dealer and get them to fix it. Shouldn't matter how much they've changed already it's missing simple as that.
  20. Got the system re-gassed today. They told me there are no leaks and the air is now coming out at 4°C.
  21. No, October 23/24th 2011 was changeover for that.
  22. Wow ... that was unexpected ... just an update on A5 to solve the issue. It would be nice to have software number and software version of A5 to double check.
  23. @Jocko yes, I would expect so, but don't use/throw away the software CD (probably spyware-laden) and download the legit freeware from ross-tech.com here: Ross-Tech: VCDS-Lite Download
  24. Indeed, the thing is the higher up people if they get given a car it’ll always be the latest so they won’t see a problem or care. I personally see it as a fault and dealerships should not be selling a car with a known fault
  25. Just a small update: Started to get a waving montion through the steering when braking, so was told the brake discs had warped by out local garage. Replaced them with Pagid and was fine for a little while but then the same started happening, so the brake discs/pads were changed again. It started to happen again after a few weeks/months, so it’s had new hubs front and back, which seems to have stopped the majority of the wave motion but thinking the discs may have become warped again as it’s only a minor wave motion now. Garage have said to try and work out the warp but we’re thinking we’ll probably just get some Mtec discs and pads and go from there, though we don’t want to keep throwing money on discs and pads. Nothing much else to report, so here’s the latest clean picture i’ve taken:
  26. I took my car in today cos my travel assist kept on beeping and disabling the past 48 hours, and the notes say: "CAMPAIGN|CARRY OUT 4855 S- ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS CAMERA CONTROL UNIT" I had a look on Skoda's recalls/campaigns website, checked my VIN number, and it looks like there's an a recall campaign (see below). So this might be your issue
  27. Thank you for the file. Was able to update it to 0480.
  28. Just checked, yes - all tires are the same size: 225/50 R17 From what I can see that is one of the 'original' tire sizes and would work. Now it doés say somewhere about an offset, so it might actually be something that I can look at. In the MFD settings I do have the option to 'adjust it' for winter tires for example. Would that be something to try? Alright,- I would expect (if it has to do with the clutch sensor), this would happen in áll gears. However it's only in 5th and 6th gear this behavior. So only there the display doesn't recognize the gear it's in anymore. The weel sensors might be a thing to look at! If the computer calculates it with that - it could be an interesting thing to check. ' I think btw, that the dropping of the cruise control is the 'secondary issue'; the main issue is that the computer/display doesn't recognize the gear (5th and 6th after a while - and at higher speeds mainly). In the 4th gear, it will keep on reading that and I can have it in cruise control for ages. A faulty clutch or brake sensor would also play a role in any gear I would say - and not only 5th & 6th.
  29. Thank's Pete, it was something like that, but too tired to think straight 😁
  30. If you don't mind me asking, who by?
  31. Thanks for all the posts, news is good and all costs are going to be covered but will have a fairly long wait for the replacement by the sound of it
  32. The 215/55R17 tyres on the Superb MK3 are fitted to either 6.5Jx17 ET41 or 7Jx17 ET40 rims. ET54 is too much offset. 225/45R17 is an Octavia MK3 tyre size. Compared to the 215/55R17 tyre size, the outside diameter of 225/45R17 is 5.1% too small for the Superb MK3 as shown in the chart below. Outside diameter of tyre 215/55R17 668.3mm 225/45R17 634.3mm (-5.1%)
  33. Whilst heel and toeing with a glass of water on the bonnet!
  34. Mine was replaced last year on my second visit to a workshop, after they got kicked by customer support. It took them one week to get it and replace it. This year I visited them twice already and they still try to solve issue applying some software updates. This time even TPI was mentioned - TPI 2064590/2 - perhaps anyone could check what's inside? Anyway, didn't solve the issue as infotainment went crazy just 15 minutes after I left workshop. Yep. I'm going tomorrow for my 7th... or already 8th visit to a workshop. Every time car is there for a few days at least. Nothing stops my loan payments, nobody reimburse me for taxi I have to take while without my car, etc...
  35. I own a SKODA KAMIQ 2023 with two USB-C ports. Here is how you can create & play a custom playlist, using a USB stick connected to the usb-C port through a USB-C male to USB-A female connector. Lets say there are 5 songs written in the usb stick : song1.mp3, , , , , song5.mp3. *** ONLY ENGLISH alphabet letters are allowed in the song filenames *** Lets say that you want to create a playlist with this playing order : song3.mp3, song1.mp3, song4.mp3, song2.mp3, song5.mp3. Open notepad (windows) and in an empty file put the following text : <?wpl version="1.0"?> <smil> <head> <meta name="Generator" content="Microsoft Windows Media Player -- 12.0.19041.1865"/> <meta name="ItemCount" content="5"/> <title>MyPlaylist</title> </head> <body> <seq> <media src="song3.mp3"/> <media src="song1.mp3"/> <media src="song4.mp3"/> <media src="song2.mp3"/> <media src="song5.mp3"/> </seq> </body> </smil> Save the file as "MyPlaylist.wpl" and copy it to the USB stick. Keep in mind that : -the filename of the playlist must be the same as the name in the 6th line of the above text : <title>MyPlaylist</title> -the number of songs in the list must be equal to the number in the 5th line of the above text : <meta name="ItemCount" content="5"/> -ONLY ENGLISH alphabet letters are allowed in the song filenames and inside this .wpl file. Even one non-english letter will make the playlist unreadable!! Connect the USB stick, and from the media menu load the playlist MyPlaylist.wpl, and that's it!!! Enjoy!!!
  36. I’m due to have my car in soon for something else and they’ll look at TMC at the same time and report back to the Skoda exec I’ve been talking too. p.S I don’t think the person im speaking to is an exec at all just higher up than the previous person

Not the black race ones that are adjustable. Just the standard purple ones. I'd previously fitted the Powerflex anti-lift kit to the front of my remapped Mk5 Golf 170 TDI to very good effect and their red dog bone insert which was removed tout suite because it created horrible NVH.
  38. Sounds about right, there already seems to be a nice layer of dust on it 🙄
  39. i had my left rear wheel bearing replaced last year. all is well now. i've had the car since new, MY17, done 75k kms now.
  40. Hoping things are going better for you now, @Titanium_Man.

I collect my Mk4 Estate SEL PHEV Staurday 27th May. Been a long wait. But not as long as others. Ordered Feb 22 with delivery Estimate Aug 22. December 22 I started writting to skoda Uk with the threat I'd escallate and wite to anyone who would listen - consumer programmes - all Skoda Directors, All Directors of the group that owns Skoda - all the cancer groups I belong to asking people to share my stroy with any cancer groups others belong too. I have incurable cancer so asked if they intended to deliver my car while I was still able to drive it or postumously? This started things rolling and after being told they werre trying to move my delivery date moved forward I was told it would be built week 14 up from an original unconfirmed and never previously communicated build week of week 38. Build came forward to week 13 then week 12 then back until that car was eventually build week 16. Its taken a which from build to get the car shipped from Emden to the UK and now the dealers. I suspect it was a case of the squeeky wheel gets the grease so if you dont complain you sit in the line. Make a bit of noise and you may get your car sooner than had had you just wiated for things to take their course. When Skoda UK asked to close my complaint, I refused and insisted they update me weekly. I suspect they report open customer complaints as a performance metric perhaps number and time open. Anyway been a longwait and I hope I am not disapointed. I will update my entry of the tracked spreadsheet and post a picture when I collect the car.
  42. Nearly a month and what has happened? Hmmmmm... Droplinks broke! Both sides. Fun. I've replaced one side so far, other side hasn't been done yet. 20230425_135856.mp4 In further news, my driver's side window regulator decided it didn't want to regulate windows anymore, leaving my window completely down. Many black bags later it was whole again, and then as of today, it's now repaired... "professionally" (by me and my Granda). Furthermore, I've chav specced the car with a tasteful* sunstrip. Meh, I like it, it has practical uses. At least it doesn't have mine and the other half I don't have's names on it... Further to that, been sorting out niggles with the car, which included a replacement engine cover, mirror glass, and fitting a spring into the fuel cap! Oh aye, and before I forget, the P0171 issue has been cured! Turns out I'd had the wrong fuel filter on the car, as it was the three bar one (as fitted by the garage), and not the correct four bar filter. 49mpg is doable if I behave. So here is the car as it stands now, I'm really pleased with how it's coming along, never done, of course. However, I am content with where things are at now.

There she is, for anyone interested
  44. You didn't say if it was losing coolant, a knackered water pump leaks coolant. The BXW engine is eerily similar to the AUA and the BBY, it is one of the most reliable engines in the VAG range and it REALLY doesn't give any trouble. Ticking and rattling when cold is a sticky lifter and can be safely ignored, and I mean completely ignored, forever! I fervently believe there's nothing wrong with your engine, just give it a good spank from time to time to keep it clean and honest.

Quick pass with the DA and Menzerna polish. Needs lots more time to get it really shiny though.
  46. @AthrxSo not only does your car have a turbo which the OP has not, you also have a DSG. Very much apples and pears there then between vehicles.
  47. Properly fitted "tha blue teeth" the other day... That's the second one of those Kenwood stereos I've bought. The first ended up in my Gran and Grampa's caravan. Additionally, the rust has been properly repaired on one of the sill ends, but the sill is getting scabby elsewhere, but remains very solid. The work I've done would have Dali doing barrel rolls in his wooden box but it's functional. There's plenty other places I've still to do on the car, but will get around to.
