  1. Out snapping the local pond life and also trying out a new macro lens.
  2. I've been sniffing ( as usual ) around F-Type's but as my Superb has just hit 50k and will be 10 !!! in October I decided to have a look at the Superb config page .... I know it's subjective but I don't think there is anything about the car I Like 😞 I hate the interior with that stoopid big screen ( yeah I know they are pretty common now ) The wheel selection is just awful It's now only 265hp ( and I bet there are no exhaust valves !!! ) And THE PRICE !!! Similar spec to my SEL comes out at ...... £50,718 !! I know that's probably not far off if you take into account inflation etc etc but still ... Never thought I would say it but even if I decided I wanted to buy a new car for the next 10 years it would not be a Superb I just don't like it .... So ... I'm going to give mine a little TLC .... Have a decent machine polish etc and hang onto it.... Similar spec to my SEL comes out at ...... £
  3. Currently sat in a car park watching the sunset😎
  4. Hey all, apologies for the pseudo thread revival! It's been a while because the car has been dropped off to a body shop, specifically my nephew's in-law's bodyshop to have a crack at the sills. Then went on holiday for a couple weeks. Not sure when they started, but they've been cracking on: I was presuming it would be a quick removal of rust and blowover, but instead looks a bit more thorough, wasn't expecting doors to be removed as part of the process! From the pics I've been sent, they're still at the rear arches from looking at the primer there. I've asked to not bother with the front bumper because I honestly reckon a complete replacement would be better value and I'll get there when I get there. Guys involved are just as shocked as everyone else regarding the amount of rust, but hopefully, this'll help some. No ETA but I'll assume it'll be another week or two, then I can find out whether the cost has genuinely meant this car was worth all that effort! Maintenance: £2340.22 Upgrades: £1595.25 Miscellaneous: £820.07
  5. @Bertie90 Just say no unless it is one that has already had an engine replaced or rebuilt. Too much of a lottery to blow £5.500 on.
  6. Getting closer to getting the European/world car of the year ie Renault Scenic. Oddly to many probably going for the smaller 60 kwh battery rather than the 87 kwh. Flame red is a free colour, fair reduction with Renault and local dealer contribution and choice of either 4.9% Apr or 0% with big deposit. Aiming for sept reg. Tried one in Alpine spec but seats were not that great imo. Displays etc awesome.
  7. The red pickup is on the AC which counts as a Rapid and 90 minutes max then £30 fine. The notice says applies to all connector types. So 2 1/2 hours charging and has got only 25 kWh. There are 7 kW, 11 and 22kW AC with long allowed charging times it could have been on. And a lower tariff. I am on a 50 kW DC and started with 10% / 12 miles and it is charging at a not very good speed. No other rapid charger to use as the are out of order. So I will get enough for 90 miles range and bog off. This is how things are quite a lot. Enyaq, 2 1/2 hours, 55 kWh, MG 70 mins 35 kWh. Crap.
  8. I know Arnold Clark are a big group and the most profitable which should be a bit of a heads up. They have some dealers in Brum but here in the area below Brum it is Bristol St and Renault Retail which people often forget or do not know exists. Buyer beware. These companies often make more money on the finance than they do on the margin of buying in and selling on. Use Car wowow, autotrader and other similar sites I recommend and look at service comment. the smaller dealership chains are usually better the big ones I have found.
  9. Hey guys, I’ll update you I bought a new module off eBay… and alas it worked. Does look like it got some water inside … and it was the left. Didn’t need to fully take off the bumper, just get it away just enough to move the light out. £50 all in all.. better than going to a garage
  10. We were lucky enough to spot what we think were a couple of Eurasian Jays earlier (along with a Woodpecker) earlier...............
  11. Check out https://www.instagram.com/bennys.emblemdesign/ too. If you only want the VRS logo and not the backing plate, which I can say from experience is very much easier to change, try Benny.
  12. Mine will be 7 years old by the end of 2024 and I´m thinking about to replace it. But prices for brand new car have become crazy (in France)… I’ve specced Superb Estate Mk4 L&K, Arteon Estate, VW Passat Estate, ID7 Tourer (just to have an idea) but all come between €64000 to &71000 😳 OMG ! It’s getting crazy! I think I may look a 2021-2022 second hand car…

My new MK4 L&K Combi arrived last Wednesday, i did all the paperwork on Friday and today (Saturday) it was shipped off to get PPF and Modesta Ceramic Coating. I only drove it 6km. I have noted so far. I ordered the Variable Boot Floor (VBF). In my MK3 (that I still have for a while), when you lift up the VBF there is another floor covering the spare wheel, giving options to store things out of sight. In the MK4 this second floor covering is NOT there. When you lift the VBF on the MK4, you meet the spare wheel straight away. When I noted this at the garage I raised it as an issue, almost expecting them to confirm it was a mistake and it should have another floor covering the spare wheel, but apparently that's the way its presented. I looked at a basic Combi without the VBF in the showroom, removed the boot cover on this one and put it into the MK4 and it fitted almost perfectly (except from the two back corners). I was given a price of €130.00 for this Standard boot floor to cover the spare wheel. I phoned Skoda directly to raise the issue and i am awaiting a response, but I reckon they will tell me I need to buy the standard floor covering. The Sub-Woofer in on top of the spare wheel now instead of being in the left compartment in the boot. I reckon the sound system is not as good as the MK3 because of this. Other than that , I will need to wait till I get the car back next week to look at the rest. So far I think its like going from Microsoft Word 2016 to Microsoft Word 2019. A bit more refined. I not mad about the dash layout, but i expect it will frow on me. This MK4 is my 3rd L&K Combi. WhatsApp Video 2024-07-27 at 19.31.27_632b71c6.mp4
  14. Or allowed in the UK. Also Air Shows. Just ridiculous really.
  15. This is the vehicle I purchased
  16. Ok, the 1.8 can clog up and have valve problems, buy the 1.2 and get a re-map. Will that do ? However, when the 1.8 first came out, I test drive one alone around the dual carriageway of Milton Keynes and severely upset a driver of a brand new SLK200, who couldn't get past...
  17. One other tip . After replacing shoes and adjusting cable to "nip" on at first notch ,I sit car on stands and then check both sides. I then stick wheeled back on both sides and check torque (/using my cheapo torque wrench to see at what torque the wheel will move(/if at all). Check for same both sides. This saves red face with !OT man. Sometimes the adjuster fails to drop properly and rears are out of adjust
  18. Red Paint thankfully changed a long time back other than maybe with Vauxhall & that was cars and Vans. The new pigments were tried out first by Ferrari on Fiat Punto,s,you did not know until after a few years which had the more expensive finish, if you see and old red Punto you will know if it had the good stuff or not, then Ferrari did options on the red you could get. Skoda had no issues with Corrida red other than sometimes with the plastics painted. Kia still have badly matched panels sometimes with metallic red metal & plastic mismatched. One of the red Fabia i had. 2 2 Options of the Scenic Long Range have low Advance Payments with Motability and i imagine they will be popular.
  19. Not only VW Group unfortunately.
  20. It's flame red, don't think it is metallic. Daughter no2 has a clio in similar colour, ten years old and still looks good. Still does over 60 mpg on a run, little turbo petrol.
  21. Cut out again. Moved to now available charger and starting 4th time now at 75%. 10 mins hopefully then away. The charger that the Enyaq was on seems to want to charge me for it's 55 kWh. No bl00dy way will that be happening.
  22. So finally after the charger cutting out the No speak English has taken away the white and black car and not the pickup yet. So I am charging again and so is a Taxi that got on where the black MG was. That is an hour I have been here and still not managed to get enough of a charge. P!$$ing down now. Should have gone to MFG.
  23. So the Enyaq is away. Car parking services and he does not speak English so can not say if they are exempt from the overstay. I asked could he tell me in Hungarian. Shrug. I will ask Edinburgh City council if they speak English.
  24. Me. 27 minutes and not even 10 kWh yet. Truth. Is paying 58 pence a kWh for a crap power supply.

OK, that's a MIB2 SD card (prefix 5L0) but that's not a problem (I used both MIB1 and MIB2 SD cards on my previous MIB1 so long as I installed MIB1 maps). The latest maps available for a MIB1 Amundsen are STD1_P94_EU_202021 i.e 2020/21 maps (5 years after the MIB1 went out of production). I've just entered the VIN of my previous Octavia onto the Skoda update portal and it showed me those maps. It downloads a .zip file which you then have to unzip and copy only the folder "markets" and (if present) the DBInfo.txt file onto the SD card (not the zip file).
  26. Hi update, new boot handle / switch fitted and can now open boot without using key fob all the time. 🤓
  27. The trick is take out fuses 19 and 30 for 10 minutes...
  28. Somewhere it is convenient to see and remove for cleaning would be my choice.
  29. If you want to stay with similar spec and performance then the obvious is to go for a Golf GTi or Golf GTE? Having had the Cupra Leon and Cupra Formentor as part of my "possibles" list before getting my vRS this year I'd avoid going for the Cupra Leon due to the build quality and materials quality. Benefit of the Golf will be that with the new car just being launched you'll probably pick up a 6 month old car for a good discount..... Or even a new pre-registered one maybe.

Too many unnecessary so called 'driver aids' on new cars with drivers relying on them too much. I buy cars with as few of them on as possible and those that are I switch off as I start driving. I don't need the car telling me someone is in my blind spot, I'm wandering across a white line, I'm going over a speed limit etc etc.

New batteries of this size have a plastic peelable disc on them. It has a bitter taste, as a deterrent to children from swallowing the battery. Until the plastic disc is removed, you won’t have contact with the key’s terminals, so no circuit and the key will appear dead. Gaz
  32. I'm sorry to hear about the ongoing issues with your 2014 Superb Estate. Exhaust fumes entering the cabin can be quite concerning. Given that the clamp ring and metal gasket disc have already been replaced with genuine VW parts, it might be worth considering a few additional steps before revisiting the same parts again. Check for Other Leaks: Ensure there are no other leaks in the exhaust system. Sometimes, issues like these can be caused by leaks in different sections, such as the exhaust manifold, EGR system, or even a cracked pipe. Examine the DPF: A clogged or malfunctioning Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) could cause backpressure and leaks. Although not specific to your vehicle, issues with gaskets related to the DPF, like the Cummins/Paccar DPF Gasket 5417859, could provide some insight. Ensure your DPF is functioning correctly and that all gaskets and connections are intact. Inspect the Seals: Check the seals around the cabin air intake and other areas where fumes might enter the cabin. Ensuring these seals are intact and functioning can help prevent fumes from entering. Pressure Test: Have a pressure test done on the exhaust system. This can help pinpoint any hidden leaks that might not be obvious during a visual inspection. Consult Another Specialist: If your current garage is unable to resolve the issue, it might be beneficial to get a second opinion from another VAG specialist or a mechanic with extensive experience in exhaust systems. I hope these suggestions help you find a solution to the issue. Good luck, and I hope you can resolve this problem soon.
  33. The one I bought was transferred from their contract hire fleet to their used fleet, and was a very good buy once they'd paid for a new alternator and Sprague clutch to go on it.
  34. Now the great debate is where it would be fitted.
  35. It doesn't work that way, the information that makes the SD card into a Skoda one cannot be deleted by a Format.
  36. In my 2023 Superb you simply close the door and press the lock button twice. The red alarm light flashes briefly and then doesn’t flash again - job done.
  37. Bit more dramatic b&w
  38. I went to RIAT 2024 at Fairford on Sunday and took quite a few photos, but sadly the weather was once again not playing ball, although it never rained, every time I went to take a nice photo, the sun seemed to nip behind a cloud and for a decent photo of a warplane, it needs to be in full sunlight. Grey planes against an overcast sky is not the best shot to take. However, here a few of the most memorable and impressive planes flying, not in full display mode as I was at the far right of the runway and the centre of the display axis was some 1,300 metres to my left, so only managed to get take off and landing shots mainly.
  39. Superb was in for its service today. I asked service reception to get the technician (not mechanics anymore, they cannot fix, just replace) to change the setting as he would have the vcds plugged in to check the fault codes. They said they would ask the technicin if they could do it, answer was, never been asked before, not sure as I don't normally use that part of the software. Will give it a go, but will probably cost you. It did cost, it was an extra 30 mins of labour (£63) but they did manage to do it and I have Traffic Info back, and lots of it in Scotland this evening, 41 alerts. A bit pricy, but I am happy that it is now working. By the way I printed off the settings page from the other thread mentioned above, and gave that to them with what I wanted the setting changed to. Thanks to all that responded

I will be getting mine done when I get the DSG oil changed at the next "inspektion", at around 115000. It was done a couple of years ago, so a lot of the initial crud will be gone, but we push 4x4 hard up here, so I'll get it done early. The DSG oil was also changed early on this car (shouldn't be needed until 120000km on a '380) but it was done, so I'm leaving it a little over 60k kms, but then doing that, too. Bring everything into line for autumn changes ahead of slippery season. My garage should be charging around €150-200 ish, and they'll change the strainer out - their recommendation. Worked beautifully on the Superb. If you can feel the power transfer to the rear wheels in any way - change the Haldex oil. Thumps when power gets through? change the Haldex oil. The power transfer front to rear should be completely imperceptible. Mine wasn't and switching the oil out showed how rough (relatively speaking) the transfer was.
  41. On Sunday I decided to go to Scarborough for the day, to have a wonder, not been for 30 odd years. On the way back I briefly stopped in Whitby by the Marina and took some pics. This was the last one I took on my mobile (Moto G8 Power). What do you think? B&W (de-saturated) Original Maybe would be better at low tide. Maybe try, with zoom lens stood away (with a proper camera). I want to get more of those bridges in the background.
  42. I had a knocking sound recently, very quickly turned bad, top strut mount bearing had collapsed, had to get towed home.

Just ordered some crossclimate+ for our other car (newer 2 version isn't in required size). Was stunned at variation in prices, most of big chains were around £130-135 per tyre, couple of independents quoted over £150 In the end opted for Tyres4you which has just opened new branch in Warminster, £125 and 15% off for 4 tyres so just £106 each
  44. Purchased my Kamiq se here,no problems, decent trade in and an excellent discount and even delivered the car to my home address in Liverpool at no cost.

I’m guessing after 7 years and no update, Andy, they’ve probably sorted it!
  46. Whoops in my rush I missed there being a choice of three, reading now for us it’s either 3345 or 3390. Looking back at my order it seems I went with 3345.. wonder if it is down to which camera you go for, I went with the cheaper 1440P.

I know that road well - as you say, dropped to 30 without any advisory signage - as is the norm now for NCC. When another local road (50 years a 40 limit to my knowledge) was similarly castrated from 40 to 30 without any notices I complained to NCC and was passed from pillar to post. Bottom line was that as a driver I should be paying attention and that notices advising of a lower speed limit are not necessary! I dispute that, a new sign may well catch your attention but remove a sign and you’d be very fortunate to notice.
  48. I started in 2014 with a Superb L&K Combi. after 230,00km I updated to a 2017 Superb L&K Combi and this has at present (03.06.24) 396,000km. I drive aprox 50,000km per year. I have gotten great value out of these cars. I just ordered a new 2024 L&K Combi , Diesel. I ordered all the extra options available in Ireland! I contacted 7 Skoda dealers in Ireland and requested their best price for the spec I wanted. There are very few L&K's sold in Ireland. There was €5,800 in the difference between the highest and lowest quotation! PM me if you want more details!
  49. Well hello all! Bit the bullet a few weeks ago and chopped a Karoq for a 2024 Octavia Estate SEL 1.5 e-tec. Have to say we are incredibly impressed. Also the colour Petrol blue… love it! In some lights it’s blue other lights green!! It’s running 1940 software so hopefully OTA to a later version over time. Probs biased being on here but it’s a good looking estate, only made better in Sportline or vRS guise but that was out of budget / not needed!! (I keep telling myself)
  50. I would be wary removing airbag fuse to fit piggyback, as it could lead to airbag warning light on dash that requires dealer to reset. In all the Skoda cars I’ve had I’ve used the well recommended on here, rear wiper fuse as a ignition controlled supply for dash cam.
